Jesse is a normal girl from a fucked-up family. The only thing she wants is freedom.
Casimir, the dark and ruthless Wolf King, reigns in the underground dens of the wolf world with the power to compel anyone to do anything he commands. But he needs a new mate because the last two killed themselves.
After watching Casimir steal the minds and wills of the other women kidnapped as potential mates, Jesse knows he is even more powerful than the urban legends she's heard. Fearing that she might lose herself forever, Jesse offers to submit to Casimir's dominance, make herself his slave, and bear his heir. But in return, he must vow never to use that compulsion on her.
Fascinated by her boldness and the surge in his power when she offers herself, Casimir accepts her as his mate.
But Casimir isn't the only wolf who wants Jesse.
While Jesse cannot deny the sizzling chemistry between herself and Casimir, the King is emotionless and sometimes cruel. She's often drawn to the tender safety offered by a much less powerful wolf. A male Casimir would kill if he knew how deeply they connected.
Will Casimir break Jesse just as he broke two mates before her? Will he discover her potentially deadly connection with another male? Or, will the smart and resourceful Jesse betray him and flee with the other wolf?
Aimee Lynn was born in Oregon and grew up in New Zealand. She dreamed of being a novelist from the age of seven, but as a Gen-Xer, was informed it wasn’t a realistic career. Instead, she went to college to be a journalist and (very realistically) never completed her degree. It wasn’t until her mid-thirties, after a marriage, a corporate career, and a family, that she rediscovered the joy she’d found in writing fiction. Now, she thanks God for giving her a husband whose love inspires romance, and who isn’t threatened by Jason Momoa.
Trash.. Absolute trash. I’m sorry, there is no way I read the same book that some of these 5 star reviewers did. Where do I begin?? How about the blurb did not match to the story line. Sure, Jesse and Rake have some “moments”, if you would even call it that, but almost every interaction he was giving her advice on how to please Cazz. Speaking of, let’s move on to that POS character. I am into the dark romance and the ahole ends up with the girl, but he did Jesse dirty way to many times (without a logical motive behind it) he would beat her down relentlessly and she continued to claw after him and beg him for a sliver of attention. I just kept reading thinking that somehow some way Rake was going to come to the rescue or she’d get a backbone and leave. Either my standards for books are becoming too high or I’m just picking out absolute rubbish. Will I read book 2? Maybe, the blurb says something more about Rake taking an interest. I don’t trust it.
Side note: they don’t actually ever shift into wolves. 🥱
Just an easy filler read. Not great, not terrible. It’s a lot longer than most of the palate cleanser books I typically read but I didn’t get bored during it.
He's dark! He's a jerk! He's a king! He's a wolf. Here's to my broody long-haired FAV, may he remain forever among Aimees awesome Alphas. Aimee + bad boy wolf-men = * chefs kiss* love love love
This book made me feel, just about every emotion I possess. I read it first in MyFavReads as an ongoing book, then when it was complete, I purchased it on Kindle, so I can read it over and over. I won’t deny having moments of frustration, anger, and anxiety over both ML and FL, but I soldiered on and was rewarded with many happy and exciting moments. I like that when Aimee Lane completes a series the story is complete and leaves you fulfilled. When you are done you always come away having learned something new about…well interesting things like a couch designed for love making. That was definitely an eye opener for me… I guess you are never too old to learn or be a bit shocked!!
This is one of the best books I ever read , I've read a lot of Author Amiee Lynn Lanes Books . She always has amazing books and she always updates constantly everyday she's a great author. If you want to buy slave to the wolf King or any of her books find her on Amazon or Kindle and you can also find her on MyFavReads . She's worth following and reading her books.
Woah - as dark as this book starts I was enthralled with the turn of each page. The opening pages of infidelity, suicide, abuse of power, and shear indifference of others would have normally been a bit much. But OMG - this book is so well written and full twists / turns and written so well it sucks you in completely.
The start of the book and storyline was good. However, the more I read, the more it went downhill. I don't think the author had clear directions where the book was heading, going of track, some parts confusing and hard to follow, and other parts chucking as much stuff that came to the author head. In my eyes it isn't worth my buying over $3 and not worth credit too.
Strong emotionally-charged hot story. Jesse is sold to the Wolf King but despite her situation agrees to become his mate and Queen. He wants offspring and will give her everything she needs, but his love. She is constantly battling her feelings and decides she is going to rule as Queen and not just be at his beck and call.
You're either going to really love this book or hate it, there's no in between. Extreme Beauty and the Beast if I were to simplify this story. Cazz is a true Alphahole and did get a redemption arc but parts of it were hard to read with true domestic violence in this relationship. The spicy scenes are plentiful with many types of variety.
The underlying story is a nice shifter story. Unfortunately this reads like it was an online chapter serial that was direct pasted into a full book, with lots of repeated information and quotes. Fine when time passes from the end of one chapter to the next, but annoying when it happens at the turn of a page.
she agrees to be his mate. wolves can shape shift and he can compel others. it seems to be set in a dystopian future. she falls for him after they bond. she sees his lonely and wants to comfort him. he's stuck on seeing emotion as weakness and scared to love. its implied he had a messed up childhood but the details are slow in coming and she knows nothing about it.
I cannot believe how highly rated this book was. I struggled to finish it. The repetitive nature of the conflict was mind numbling boring! The MFC whined non stop about the MMC's inablity to love her but then would forget about it during the bedroom sessions. I barely finished it.
-good plot -interesting characters -great smut -ends with a cliffhanger but I guess that is should be -good world building -not the usual rejected mate, secret baby, bullied mate
This book finally gave a much needed different experience to the other Alfa wolf king novels. Even the spicy scenes were refreshing and interesting. Thank you Aimee Lynn 🫶🏼
He’s a wolf king in need of an heir and she is the human who volunteers for the job in exchange for his protection. Making babies is so much fun and their simple bargain begins to get complicated.
I couldn't put this book down. It was so good and well written. I'm definitely buying the next book in this series. I can't wait to finish Jesse & Cazz's story
