The Snow Thief

Rate this book
What would you do if you were trained your whole life to be a warrior and the saviour of a magical land? That’s right—run away to Australia. At least, that’s what Eira did when she turned eighteen and realized she didn’t want to be a queen or anyone’s saviour. She didn’t have a choice in the way she was raised or who she was going to become. Just because it is her fate, doesn’t mean she has to fulfil it, right? She wanted to choose where her life was taking her. That was until her twenty-first birthday when the past came to find her and she was dragged back there anyway. At least the guy who dragged her back is kind of sexy—but unfortunately, she hates his guts. We’ll see how long that lasts.

The land of Talvia is meant to be snow-laden all the time. One hundred years ago when the snow was destroyed by a dragon, a prophecy was written that a princess born on the first day of winter would bring the snow back. Talvia has not seen a single snowflake since, or a princess to fulfil the prophecy—until Eira.

I enjoyed this cute, stand-alone fantasy. I loved the storyline, the writing was cute and the characters were lovable. The writing style was more modern. It was a simple story, not a lot of depth, but I don’t think that was a bad thing. It moves at a very fast pace with it being 300 pages. It had a journey with found family and lots of roadblocks before the climax. Spice was closed door.

I loved every second of this book! I want to visit Talvia and be friends with Eira & everyone, especially Killian 😉

Eira is our independent, strong willed main character who’s hiding out, trying to live a normal life of a 21 year old, go to school, work, date…. when Leon comes to bring her home to the snow country, Talvia, to save the land and defeat the dragon who took over! I mean the prophecy says it’ll happen right so Eira has to do it right? Well that’s a lot easier said than done, especially when Eira is so tired of everyone telling her what to do!

This story line had SO MUCH potential to dig deeper into the lives of all these characters. I was hoping for more background between Leon & Eira, and maybe a little more spice 😉 But it was a very straightforward plot that I felt wasn’t dragged on and I appreciate that!

The sibling dynamic between Theo, Killian, Leon & Boreas was refreshing and added comedic depth to the plot but I am a sucker for Killian. He’s so funny and always has something witty to say, and I mean come on, who doesn’t love a tall, broad, red headed man 👀

I loved this story and the magical world of Talvia.
There were so many interesting creatures and characters to love, and as an Aussie and fan of Disney, I loved the little nods to both.
As for the main character Eira, and her love interest Leon, I really enjoyed their dynamic, and seeing their feelings grow for each other. The whole found family/family dynamic of the characters was heart warming to read, and I enjoyed their dynamics and banter throughout the book.
There were great little twists and a dragon which I loved!
The story ended both in a nice happily ever after kind of way, while leaving the door open to another mystery yet to unfold. I also loved how Eira's bestie from the mortal realm was able to still be apart of Eira's new life at the end! Overall a fantastic book, and I look forward to book 2.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I found this book to be incredibly fun and entertaining! It’s packed with adventure, humour, and romance. Also, I am a sucker for the found family trope, and this book absolutely delivered on it.

Leon is a top tier book boyfriend. He would do absolutely anything for Eira, and their relationship captivated me from the very beginning. There was so much tension between them, and I loved every single second of it.

I found Eira’s character to be very relatable. I would also run off to Australia rather than fulfill my part in a prophecy 😂 I also enjoyed watching her grow more accepting of her destiny, and become the Queen that her kingdom needs.

Thank you so much Alexandra Louise for sending me a copy of the book! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Snow Thief is a well written tale of modern times vs medieval folklore fantasy. Alexandra's descriptive wording draws you into the intriguing characters and takes you away into a world of long ago featuring sword battles, knights, chivalry and blossoming romances. Some real cliff hangers too. I definitely recommend reading it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's a fun adventure that keeps you entertained up until the end. A good enemies to lovers tale. I loved the subtle satire mixed in because the main character gets pulled from the "real" world into a magical one. Loved the chemistry between the characters. I thought the end was going to be predictable, but I was pleasantly surprised. More NA than YA just because the main character and the others are 21+, but there's nothing explicit in it that a YA couldn't read. Overall, just a fun read that will not disappoint.
