A forbidden age gap stand-alone from small-town romance author Brooke Montgomery about a girl who connects with a mysterious man and her sister’s older ex-boyfriend who knows he should stay away…
Looking back, I shouldn’t have sent a half-naked photo to the group chat.
But when someone asks about a specific horse saddle, I caution them to be careful or their ass will look like mine—covered in bruises.
While everyone makes inappropriate jokes, a guy who recently joined shows concern about my well-being. Turns out, “bruising like a peach” isn’t normal.
One innocent photo turns into more and soon we’re texting every day.
The only problem—I have no idea who he is or his age. Even so, I find myself smiling at his messages and wanting to know more about him.
Until the time comes when we’re supposed to finally meet and he stands me up.
At the advice of my best friend, I sign up for a dating app because I’m not about to let one guy ruin it for me. But one after another, they either stop responding or block me.
After stumbling across my sister’s older ex-boyfriend on the same app, I ask him for advice. I beg him to teach me how to please a man and how to have more sexual confidence.
When he reluctantly agrees, things evolve between us, lines get crossed, and I find myself falling for the wrong person.
Except, I can’t shake this uneasy feeling about the mystery guy from the group chat—the one who never showed up.
But people don’t just vanish without a trace in a Southern small town.
Only With Me is book 4 in the Sugarland Creek series. Each book in this Southern, small town series is a stand-alone and ends in a happily ever after.
Brooke has been writing romance since 2013 under the USA Today Bestselling author retired pen names: Brooke Cumberland and Kennedy Fox, and now: Brooke Montgomery and Brooke Fox. She loves writing small town romance with big families and happily ever afters! She lives in the frozen tundra of Packer Nation with her husband, teenager daughter and pack of dogs. Brooke's addicted to caffeine, cold winter nights, and afternoon naps. She found her passion for telling stories during winter break one year in grad school—and she hasn’t stopped since.
This series really packs a punch. I notice it more with each entry and I can only imagine what the final story is going to bring after the set up from this book. Brooke Montgomery is really talented and I feel like her storytelling improves all the time.
This was a gripping story of two kindred souls who are more alike then they ever realized. They start chatting by chance and it goes somewhere they never expected. Waylon and Harlow never should have been chatting in the first place. She's his ex-girlfriend's younger sister and a client of his own sister. But fate keeps bringing them into each other's path.
Their chemistry and banter lead to some spicy lessons when Harlow has no shame and is a curious little virgin. Waylon indulges her curiosity and helps bolster her confidence. Once that train starts rolling, it's a one way ticket to love and connection. They also have a lot in common, as they both have family members they keep an eye on. Waylon is shocked how quickly he comes to crave her time and her bold texts. It doesn't take too long before he realizes he can't be without her.
I think this romance really shines and it may be my favorite relationship in the series. It just came so naturally and there were not many obstacles that could keep them apart. They are so understanding and genuine people that even a little fib or two can't shake them.
However, where I became a bit conflicted, was with how some of the triggering content played out and the pacing surrounding it. It's not the certain events that bothered me, it's more so how and when. The author gives detailed warnings for everything, so that's not the issue. It's more so how abruptly we go from that event to sexy time. There may be a time jump, but page wise... it's like 10 pages after that we are getting it on. It left an icky taste in my mouth.
Overall, as I said, this was my favorite couple in the series and I think most readers will not share my reticence. I respect this author so much and if I had had a bit more space for that heavy event to breathe, I would have been all in. The emotional whiplash was hard to overcome.
I am really looking forward to Wilder's book. That man deserves an HEA too and I can't wait to see him get it. The whole Hollis Family has my heart.
4 stars 2 on the spice scale
This is deeply personal to the author, and her author's note is well thought out and detailed. I think she prepares you adequately for the story, I just had my own personal issues for why it wasn't a home run for me.

really hoping that this series hasn't lost its charm...
the first three books in this series were a very big surprise to me. they give the same vibe as chestnut springs by miss elsie silver and i was hoping that would continue all the way through. sadly this installment missed the mark for me. with the relationship being an age gap and being between an ex's little sister, i thought there would be much more tension. the two of them have no issue having a relationship even though the circumstances may be odd. that really threw me because i feel like it shouldn't have been so simple for them to just forget about the oddities and be together.
waylon and his brother, wilder, were the brothers i was the least excited for in this series because they just seemed like idiots in the first couple books. i'm glad we got to know more about them and their characters became full people but unfortunately i just don't love them. harlow was very naive in this story, to an extent that confused me. i get being inexperienced because she was young but she was old enough to understand basics and she just seemed to be written like a teen instead of a twenty year old. the romantic suspense elements of these books usually aren't my fav but this one was ridiculous. there was basically no build up, you just knew sorting bad would happen, and what did happen was a rushed almost kidnapping situation that was just annoying.
maybe the final story will be better, i hope we can end the series on a higher note than this because i just didn't have the best time. brooke's writing is very fast paced which is great, the books are easy to finish. this one just had too much happening and people were not reacting to things in the ways the should have been. i hope the next book focuses more on the two characters story together and less on all the trauma that every single person in this series has. like how have so many characters had stalkers and kidnappings and shit like that. the mental health stuff was interesting and well done but the way every women gets beat up in these books is not it.
Thank you to Love Notes PR for an ARC copy of this book.
I adored this. Brooke does it again. This one had many darker themes, and I would advise checking the content and trigger warnings.
I adored Waylon and Harlow, the relationship, trust, and respect they built and the way they communicated with each other. There was a slight miscommunication, but I also could understand why it happened.
I loved how Brooke dealt with the sensitive themes and the discussions surrounding those. And I just overall adore this cast of characters. My aim is to go back to the prequel, books 1 and 2, and read those before book 5 comes out because I did start with book 3 😂
I'm very excited about Wilders' book next, though.
WOW. Another great read by Brooke and another Hollis who captured my heart. This beautiful story that will break your heart but put you back together again. My emotions were all over the place with this read and I loved all of it.
Only with Me is the fourth book in the Sugarland Creek Series following Waylon Hollis & Harlow Fanning. Waylon has been entered in a group text chat to talk about horses and he has no idea who is who. He does end up making a connection with one girl and they form a friendship but kept who they were to themselves…until one day they finally decided to meet in person, Waylon finds out that she is his ex-girlfriend’s little sister, Harlow. He cuts it off before she finds out who he is. Waylon couldn’t stay away so he still finds another way to talk to her without hiding his identity.
At 20 years old, Harlow has zero experience with boys, and she wants to change that. She signs up on a dating app and is trying to put herself out there. With this new friendship with Waylon, she asks him to “teach her” everything in the dating field. Including some spicy lessons 😉
I loved how Waylon & Harlow were together. Their connection was everything and loved how they formed from the group chat and showing each other their hearts. The mouth on Waylon. I don’t think I will ever recover. I love him. ALSO. BROOKE. The little suspense at the end of this story. HOLY CRAP. I was a goner. You had been bawling my eyes out. I was blown away from this story and I can’t wait for Wilder’s story!!

I am a SUCKER for the banter in Brooke’s books. It’s just so stinkin good. I’ve been dying for Waylon’s story since the beginning and once we learned that the main trope in his book would be ex’s sibling? Immediately sold. This book was everything I hoped for & more.
Thank you to Brooke & her team for the ARC!
- Small Town - Cowboy Romance - Ex’s sister - Age Gap - Spicy Lessons
I skipped the amnesia book in this series and went straight for this one because age gap + sister’s ex-boyfriend? Sounded so fresh and unhinged in the best way. And don’t get me wrong—it was hot, but the way the “gap” was shown made the FMC feel way too young. Like, I get that 20 is young, but the vibes were too off sometimes.
The suspense subplot was also so random? But hey, it was a fun, spicy one-night read, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
I always love brooke's books because they have so much depth & development and are always both plot and character driven. Waylon & Harlow were no exception. They were so good together. I love a good age gap romance. as always with brooke's stories, this one touches on multiple heavy topics and it's highly recommended to check triggers.OH! and the character art! OH MY SOUL! huge thanks to Love Notes PR for this arc.
I’m diving straight into the review. First off, the FMC, Harlow, surprised me with her confidence, even though she’s a virgin. I actually enjoyed her fun, innocent side; she seemed eager to learn and wasn’t afraid to discuss intimate topics. It was refreshing to read. Waylon, the MMC, has a twin brother who stresses him out due to their shared past and his brother’s behavior when drinking. Waylon is a protector and always tries to be there for his brother, but it’s not always easy.
I feel Harlow and Waylon complement each other well, bonding over shared family struggles and past traumas. The dynamic where the MMC teaches the FMC about intimacy was deliciously written. This is my first book by this author, and it definitely won’t be my last. I really enjoyed the audiobook and highly recommend it if you’re considering picking it up.

Ehh I had high hopes, but when they stated hooking up, it went downhill.. it just didn’t flow and I didn’t love Waylan’s twin.. so idk if I can read the next book haha!
The story was a bit more emotional than I’m used to from this author. And I mean that in a really good way. This story is very heavy on mental health and how it can impact friends and family as well as the person that is struggling.
Waylon is part of the Hollis Family and his twin is Wilder. Wilder has always struggled with mental health and because of that twin connection that many twins have, Waylon can sometimes feel Wilders overwhelming emotions. Waylon has always looked after Wilder, especially after some self harming episodes and it has really made Waylon put romance on a back burner because he doesn’t want to lose his brother or stay too far from him. What Waylon does do is join a group-chat about horses and strikes up a friendly conversation with another horse lover. What he doesn’t realize is, he starts talking to his ex-girlfriend’s little sister.
This is a slow burn romance with an age gap. A little bit of forbidden vibes being that it’s an ex-girlfriend’s younger sister. Both main characters have people in their life that struggle really bad with mental health and they have that in common. Having the anxiety of always watching someone that you love. There was a little bit of suspense elements, and a lot of healing from trauma. This book was just a bit emotional because I think we live in a society where we all have someone in our lives maybe ourselves the struggle with mental health and I found this book to be realistic and well written. You can’t control other peoples lives, no matter how desperately you want to fix them. And I love that Waylon starts living for himself after feeling like he’s had to babysit his brother his whole life. And he finds this beautiful romance with Harlow. She’s innocent and pure and such a beautiful character. Funny, confident, quirky.
Setting all the emotional aspects aside, this book is extremely spicy. Because she is a virgin heroine, she asks for spicy lessons from Waylon, who she deeply trusts. It’s 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.
I freaking loved everything about this book. I love how the ending leads to someone else’s possible love story and I cannot wait to see where that goes.
HEA. ✔️
Note: I would seriously consider reading the triggers, even if they are possible spoilers because there is quite a bit.
This is one of those series' that just bringing me comfort every time I pick it up. This is Waylon and Harlow's story! This book brought out all of the emotions, so make sure you have tissues ready for these two!
💛Small town romance 💛Ex-girlfriend's little sister 💛Age gap 💛Secret identities 💛Secret romance 💛Spicy lessons
Waylon and Harlow have both gone through momentous and horrific things in their lifetime. And when they start chatting in a group text, unknowingly with each other, their connection is so strong.
But when Waylon finds out that it is Harlow he is talking too, he knows that he needs to back off. But the connection and attraction is just too strong. And when Harlow comes to him asking him for spicy advice, he is the man to give it to her. And that starts to form an unbreakable intimate bond between the two of them.
I love these two so much. Waylon has been the caretaker in his life for his twin who has had a lot of trouble in his life. The way that he takes on responsibility for him made me swoon and love him that much more. Harlow is extremely naive and that has to do with things that happened in her upbringing, but that is the reason that I loved and truly connected with her character so much.
Teddy Hamiltion and Ava Erickson did a fantastic job bringing voices to these characters. Ava was the perfect naive and sweet Harlow and Teddy personified the cinnamon roll caretaker that is Waylon.
Wilder's story is going to be epic and I cannot wait!
4.5 stars! Only with Me is a small town, forbidden (ex’s sister), age gap, slow burn, with spicy lessons and secret/hidden identity! It’s book 4 in the Sugarland Creek series and definitely one of my favorites in the series (I also loved 1 and 3). Please just know this book has heavier themes and content warning (provided by the author at the beginning of the story and also at the end of my review).
I loved Waylon and Harlow’s story, their chemistry together was soo good and felt so natural. I loved how they start communicating at first in a group convo text without realizing who one another is. They start a separate text convo where they really get to know one another and open up about so much, all without sharing their names. It’s a bit tricky because she’s his ex’s younger sister so when they find out who they’ve been texting with, it gets complicated for a minute. But I love how that doesn’t linger on for too long and they realize they do have an amazing connection. The lessons were so fun and seeing them be so open and communicative with one another right away (especially her with her curiosity and wants)!
I received an audio ALC, all thoughts in this review are my own.
CW: witness of non-suicidal self-injury (cutting), blood, discussions of depression, mental health, suicide attempts, chronic pain, non-fatal and fatal overdose, aggravated assault (flashback and present day), and death of a parent.
This book took me by complete surprise. It broke my heart multiple times. I could feel my heart cracking more and more as the book went on. Waylon and Harlow are absolutely beautiful together. The way they helped heal each other was so so heartwarming to witness. 💗
I loved the innocence of Harlow and the spicy lessons from Waylon. That was super hot. 🥵
Teddy and Ava were simply THE perfect narrators for these characters. Their performances made Waylon and Harlow’s story so much more impactful. I wouldn’t have picked them any different. I highly recommend the audio for this, and really all of the books in this series. I’ve loved them all.
I’m so nervous and excited at the same time for Wilder’s book. I have a feeling it’s gonna hurt me, but in the best way. 🥲
I can’t recommend this series more, especially if you love the below tropes.
𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔: 🤎 cowboy 🐴 small town 🤎 age gap (12 years) 🐴 ex girlfriend’s little sister 🤎 secret relationship 🐴 spicy lessons 🤎 mental health rep 🐴 hidden identities
Okay first off I loved this book, second please check your trigger warning before starting it. There are a couple heavy topics that are done really well but pack and emotional punch, so please make sure you stay safe.
Waylon and Harlow have the absolute sweetest relationship. They both have real struggles from their past and managing their own mental health and the wellness of their family members, and when they connect, there is such a genuine understanding and connection between them.
✨ Cowboy Romance ✨ Age Gap ✨ Hidden Identity ✨ Ex Girlfriend’s Sister ✨ Teach Me
Okay, so let me let you, these tropes go so well together and they absolutely just work. Waylon dated Harlow’s ex years ago, and so when he finds himself attracted to her, he tries to fight his feeling for her, and as he does this he hides the fact that they connected in a group chat, and they she doesn’t know who she is talking to. Of course, he can’t stay away and this ends up with Harlow asking him to teach her to get experience.
This man is so swoony as he literally talks her though it and teaches her. Despite this being a true slow burn, the tension and chemistry between these two is top tier.
Harlow is adorable and so strong, and naive and I really loved her. Waylon has always lived in the shadow of his twin Wilder and so seeing him have someone that is just his made me melt.
There are some wonderful fun moments in this book but also some incredible heavy topics and mental health struggles, and they were done very well and so important to the story, but they also had me so in my feels. I was literally sobbing at points. But this journey was so rewarding in the end and I absolutely love them so much.
I swear these books are just getting worse and worse. What started off as a silly goofy cowboy romance is not just straight up “how much trauma can 2 characters have and still be together” mixed with “what is the most unlikely meet cute scenario” add in a hefty pour of miscommunication and naïveté and you’ve got this series.
Waylon and Harlows whole relationship is weird af, also this author has lost the right to keep mentioning “the age gap is weird” when the first couple she wrote about WERE TWENTY-TWO YEARS APART, at that point 12 years is NOTHING but also can no one find a partner within 5 years of them?! And don’t even get me started on the “seduction lessons” — it’s a trope that’s been done before and done a million times better by Samantha Young and Elsie Silver just to name a couple.
And to think I was excited for Waylons book, he for sure was my favorite brother
Unfortunately, this fell a bit flat for me. I struggled to get into this and the characters, specifically Harlow, felt especially childish. I think overall between the tropes and the characters, I felt a bit disconnected to the story as a whole.
I will say, I thoroughly enjoyed the various aspects of mental health and disability that were represented throughout the story. This representation was done very well and handled with incredible care. You can tell Brooke put so much thought and consideration into portraying it accurately.
Only With Me was such a tear jerker for me! I found myself crying left and right. Brooke did an amazing job telling this story. My heart hurt so much for both main characters and their family situations. But everything they both went through really made them understand each other and their struggles, and they fit so well.
I love a good anonymous online relationship that turns out to be someone very close to them. I love the banter, the feelings that grow so genuinely, the angst. And these two, gah!! There are so many stages to these two. I had fun at each one of them. I really loved their story! Honestly, next to Noah & Fisher, this couple was my fav.
I called the next couple very very early on ahah but the events of the book got me very curious and excited for the next book.

This is the fourth book in a series and while it could be read on its own I say go back and read the earlier books first because they’re all SO good! This one does have some major triggers, they are listed at the beginning but take care because parts of this could be disturbing for some readers. The author did a really amazing job at handling the issues with delicacy and care too, so if you can handle some darkness this is so worth it because I absolutely adored Harlow and Waylon’s story. I’ve been super curious about the twins and was excited to learn more about Waylon and this man exceeded my expectations. Harlow is an innocent little sweetie who has been through soooo much and he treated her with so much respect and tenderness, talk about swoony. He is such a steady and dependable presence in the lives of his loved ones and there’s honestly nothing sexier for me than that. As emotional and sweet as this is it is also super spicy, the heat is high 🥵 If you like cowboy, spicy lessons, age gap, forbidden, ex girlfriends sister and fantastic mental health representation this was incredible!

I was given the opportunity to read this book as an ARC and to say I'm obsessed would be an understatement. Every book just keeps getting better and better. I loved the mental health rep in this book and seeing Waylon and Harlow be there for each other. Also, this book is the slowest slow burn I have ever read and honestly, I'm here for it. Waylon and Harlow have known each other for years and Harlow has always liked him but he's older than her and dated her sister. Harlow starts talking to this guy from a horse group chat independently but they don't know who the other person is and they eventually decide to meet up but she gets stood up. It turns out that Waylon is the other person and when he realizes that he's been talking to Harlow he freaks out and runs away.
Waylon hears that Harlow is on a dating app he gets on everyone trying to find her and eventually he does. Next thing he knows, he is giving her spicy lessons because she's inexperienced, and wants to learn. And Waylon realizes he wants to be the only one to teach her those things.
Waylon and Harlow start dating but Harlow still doesn't know that Waylon is who she was texting from the group chat. Eventually, she finds out and asks for space. Waylon agrees but then his brother comes up with a plan to help Waylon truly show how much he loves her. Harlow gets hurt before Waylon can talk to her and right then, he realizes how much he loves her.
Harlow and Waylon have been through so much together (and alone) and they use each other to heal and it is so beautiful to see these two slowly heal together after so much pain.
"Only With Me" is out today and I hope you all pick it up! We only have one book left in the Sugarland Creek series after this book and I'm so sad to leave but I am so excited to read Wilder's story. Especially after learning more about him in Waylon's book
"Waylon’s a fantasy, like crushing on a celebrity, there’s no point in even considering it could happen or getting your hopes up because it’s so farfetched." - Harlow
I have loved every book in the Sugarland Creek series and this one was no exception! Harlow & Waylon were absolute fire. I ended up reading this is just one day, that's how much I enjoyed the story! And I truly appreciated the very real depression and mental health representation. I am beyond excited for Wilder’s story next!
Thank you to must love audio for the ALC & chance to listen!

This whole series has been a tad lackluster for me, but this one was definitely very emotional and heart wrenching with all that Harlow and Waylon experienced. I loved the start to their story and thought it made it much stronger.

Always love reading about the Sugarland Creek crew. Harlow is Waylon’s ex-girlfriend’s little sister who is also 12 years younger than him. They form an instant connection through an anonymous group chat. Keeping their identities secret they continue to flirt without revealing their identities. They bond over similar trauma. Love a good forbidden romance. A perfect mix of sweet and spicy. Can’t wait for more to come in this amazing series.
Only With Me Sugarland Creek • Book 4️⃣ By: @brookewritesromance
Narrated By: Teddy Hamilton and Ava Erickson
Only With Me is book 4 in the Sugarland Creek series and I have loved each and every book including this one that follows Waylon Hollis and Harlow Fanning. When Waylon is added into a local group chat he has no idea who he’s chatting with and when the group chat turns to text messages outside the group, one girl is sparking his Interest, but when he finds out it’s his ex girlfriends little sister, it’s time to delete the chat, but the connection and pull is too strong to forget. I loved this book and felt so much for these characters, Waylon has a twin brother, Wilder, and the bond these two have is unmatched, it’s a twin love that’s so deep and the way Waylon protects his brother and is there for him brought tears to my eyes. It’s the turn around in this book that got me, when Wilder opens up and gives Waylon the advice he needed to move forward with finding love, it showed their deep bond. Waylon and Harlow despite their 10 year age gap built a friendship and when the connection heats up, they begin to learn so much more about each other and I loved the open conversations these two had. Teddy Hamilton and Ava Erickson narrate in dual and the two of them together brought their A game, Ava has this way with her words that makes you truly understand a character, with the age gap between these characters Ava was able to express the maturity of Harlow yet the curiosity only someone her age would have, she expressed the confidence Harlow had and the doubts within herself, giving us so much personality to Harlow. Teddy Hamilton had me in tears with his emotions just in the prologue and everything he voiced I felt in my heart. Waylon has a special soul and Teddy narrated him to perfection. The inner monologues, the conversations with family, expressing feelings of doubt, love, passion with a side of banter, & all the anticipation, Teddy and Ava narrated each expression so beautifully keeping me entranced.
Thank You @brookewritesromance for the opportunity to listen and review.
Really enjoyed this audiobook! It's one of the first I have found with southern accents that are subtle enough for me to listen to. (Being southern myself, I am incredibly picky about the sound of southern accents in audio). Ava Erickson and Teddy Hamilton sounded perfect in this dual style narration.
This book had some surprising elements and heavy content so check CWs if needed. I loved how they knew each other in real life, but didn't know who the other was as they developed a relationship through a group chat.

Ok ok ok, so! Calm down everyone but I'm almost busting at the seams thinking about this book. I'll preface this by saying I LOVE the Sugarland Creek series and have been obsessed since book #1, page 1, word 1. Utterly obsessed. So when this ARC hit my inbox, it's not a lie when I say that I literally dropped all my other current reads and life's obligations to read this. Because I've been desperately waiting on Waylon and Harlow's story. Like... I've been desperate for it, for months!
That said, I love Waylon. He's such a beautiful character and beautiful soul. But how this all kicks off is heart-wrenching. The things that Waylon and Harlow have had to go through and continue to deal with, it's... it's a lot. And if you have triggers, you need to check the trigger warnings on this one. Or if you're like me and like to go in blind, then this story will hit you with so many surprise twists and turns. And with that said, if you like that, I suggest you not read any reviews or book descriptions. But don't worry, I'm not giving anything away.
We've known Waylon for a while now and we've seen a glimpse of Harlow up until this book. We also know that Waylon is like 32 and Harlow is his ex-girlfriend's younger sister - yep, she's 20. But Waylon's a good guy, in every sense of the word. And with that said, for me, this book revolved around trauma. The emotions associated with that, and the actions too, is just so deep and so overpowering. Yet, how Harlow and Waylon's story intertwines with the trauma is really nice. Now, as mentioned, Harlow is much younger than him, and the reason that I knocked a star off this rating is that I found her to be a little naive at times and I mention that because I didn't think that necessary for her. And I kind of had an issue with a few of her actions in their texts.... but to counter that, the deep-rooted emotions in this book, specifically towards the 3/4 mark of this book... omg!! Brooke!!! I was bawling my eyes out!!!! Like, ma'am. You legit broke me. And those deep emotions and humanity's genuineness - those moments in this book are both beautiful and haunting. And those parts of the book inched the star rating back up (as opposed to the two things I mentioned that I had "issues" with).
Also, and this isn't so much a complaint, even though it is: I wanted more "time" with Harlow and Waylon when they got together. There was so much build-up to the story and so when we finally had them together, I felt it was too brief. Call it a backwards compliment or a regular compliment - call it a complaint or not - but Brooke built them up so much, and in the process built us up so much, that when they finally got together and it was out there that they were, it was just not enough for me. I wanted like one or two more chapters of them together! I know, I know, I'm very demanding. But I just felt that we went through sooooo much with them and their families, that I wanted more of the sweetness between them. I felt like we, the readers, and them, the characters, deserved to shine a little brighter and longer in the sun.
For anyone who's read the Sugarland Creek series, you know you're obsessed with this story just like I was. And for anyone who's reading this as a standalone, do yourself a favor and go back to book #1. You won't be sorry. This series is just incredible. I love this world. I might be slightly obsessed with it to be frank. And I looooooved getting to know Waylon and by proxy, meeting Harlow. And how this book ended?????? Omgggggggg!!!!! Can I have the next book - like now????
I have deeply engaged with every installment of the Sugarland Creek series, and this latest addition shines just as brightly as its predecessors! The chemistry between the main characters, Harlow and Waylon, is utterly captivating. From their first introduction, I was completely enchanted by the authentic representation of their relationship and the vibrant universe that Brooke Montgomery has intricately built. I was so absorbed in the narrative that I finished the book in just one day!
I particularly admire the sincere depiction of depression and mental health challenges woven throughout the story. The author approaches these sensitive themes exceptionally well, making the characters' struggles feel genuine and relatable. The prologue is quite intense, so it's crucial for readers to heed the trigger warnings provided at the beginning of the book.
Despite the weighty themes, Harlow and Waylon's relationship brings warmth and solace, making their connection feel like home. Their playful exchanges are exquisitely written, providing a delightful counterbalance to the more serious moments. Their bond feels like a sanctuary, and their undeniable chemistry emotionally swept me off my feet. I genuinely believe they are meant for each other, and I found myself cheering for their love story with each page I turned.
Brooke Montgomery has crafted something extraordinary with the Sugarland Creek series, and I have grown to love this entire cast of characters. As I reached the final page, I felt a thrilling anticipation for Wilder's book, eager to embark on another emotional journey through Montgomery's compelling storytelling.
This audiobook experience is further enriched by the enchanting narration of Teddy Hamilton and Ava Erickson, two voice talents I genuinely admire. Teddy Hamilton's smooth delivery of sultry lines captivates, perfectly embodying Waylon's playful and mischievous spirit with every nuanced inflection. Conversely, Ava Erickson brings Harlow to life, capturing her curious nature with a bright, engaging tone that effortlessly draws listeners into her world. Together, their voices weave a rich tapestry of emotion and intrigue that complements and elevates the storytelling, making this audiobook an unforgettable experience.
