Pucking Pregnant #2

Pucking the Enemy

Rate this book
They were the enemy, but now I’m their pregnant Omega…

College was meant to be fun, a time away to figure out who I was while attending university with my childhood best friend and avoiding an arranged marriage my parents tried to force upon me.

Then every plan I had fluttered away after one party, one choice to follow my desires.

A one-night stand turned into so much more when my heat kicked in, pulling Roman, Phillip, and Cormac down with me for a night of unexpected passion. They were everything my Omega heart could ever want, until I found out who they truly were…

No matter how deep the rivalry, it didn’t change the predicament I was in. I was pregnant, falling in love, and the cherry on top was their devotion and eagerness to be dads and care for me like I was the missing piece they never expected to find.

And yet, the perfect future I could have would be nothing without my best friend, loving me the only way he knew how.

Pucking the Enemy is the second book in the Pucking Pregnant series and is in the same universe as the Pucking Alphas series. Although each book is a standalone, they should be read in order

So, somehow, the author managed to try to write a different trope from the first book yet managed to write the exact same book as the first one ?

Idk I was enjoying it a lot as long as the whole « they’re the enemies of my bestfriend » vibes were on. As soon as they found out who the bestfriend was… he was pack. But they were supposed to be enemies and to HATE each other ?

And she gave us the whole legal custody, EXACTLY like in book one. The author made the FMC talk exactly like the FMC in her first book. It’s like she didn’t manage to separate her characters and just writes about the same one in slightly different settings.

I HATE that it's obvious that her best friend cares about her at the same time he's being hit on (and maybe sleeping with) other women. At the bmbery least, he's left her to fend for herself at a party.

And I HATE that she's getting hit on by this dude who's pushing his erection on a stranger. Sure, we hear she likes it but all I can feel is revulsion because he's barely talked to her before doing that and she's all "normally, I wouldn't be okay with this but I'm all cool in this instance" re several actions. Which says none of this is okay!

I can't. Nope.

Best Friend's Rivals

Hazel goes into heat unexpectedly after going home with a guy she met at a party. His pack agrees to help her through it. With post-heat clarity, she realizes these are her best friend's hockey rivals.

Fast forward, she finds out she's pregnant. Her best friend, Seb, freaks out because he realizes he's in love with her, and a pack got her pregnant, so he lost his chance, right? I do wish that he hadn't stayed away from her for so long after his realization. It worked for the plot pacing, but I wanted him more involved sooner.

Roman is adorably all in immediately. He never wanted her to leave after her heat. He just knew she was the one.

Phillip is very practical and helps make sure she is always healthy and happy and rested.

Cormac is the wild card. He's silly and playful, but also 100% down bad.

I'm a sucker for nicnames, so I loved that each guy has his own nicname for her.

Another wonderful Pucking story from the author. I loved Hazel a strong independent young omega going to college with her best friend from childhood Seb. They both have a secret crush on each other.
Hazel meets Roman at a party and goes home with him and has a wonderful night with him. There she meets the rest of Roman’s pack Phillip and Cosmac and their lives are intertwined together before they know it. Seb and Ronan are hockey arch enemies. Hazel has her hands full with four men. Those four men will do anything for her. It was a sweet story and kept me entertained until the last page. Wish it hadn’t ended.

So I’d never read an omegaverse book before. And I had no clue what a lot of the terms were so I had to look them up.
Some of them made me laugh out loud a little bit, but I still really really loved it. It was kind of like chicken soup for the soul. It was just sweet and easy breezy fun read.
I pretty much liked everything about it.

Usually pregnancy centric books are not my thing, but I really liked this one! It definitely didn't hurt that it takes places in the Omegaverse and it's a reverse harem/pack scenario. The way that Hazel (FMC) is doted upon and loved up so completely by all of her alphas was like the quintessential Omegaverse book! Couldn't even pick a favorite out of the four alphas, they were all pretty damn perfect. In terms of plot, this book does not offer a lot. The story is focused on smut and the pack forming and the progression of their relationship. A literary masterpiece it is not. It is however, a feel good, low drama (and the drama that does exist is resolved quickly and easily), high amounts of spice, with a guaranteed HEA. So really … do we need waxing lyrical content? I say no. The story is also kind of predictable, but in a comforting way and not an annoying way. I would definitely recommend this one!

As a mood reader, and someone who knows what they like to read, I gotta say this book was just what I needed during the stressful couple of days I have had, it also helps that I am a sucker for an fluffy omega verse romance with the right amount of spice. This story was just dreamy.

Torture. That’s just one word to describe what I just went through. I tried to like is so bad. Key word tried.
Oh god and did I tried. I tried so hard but it physically got me sick.
The only difference between this book and the first in the series is the people’s names and a tiny little bit of the plot. The characters? The same. The way they act? The same. The phrase? THE SAME.
AND THEY WERE REPEATED THOUGH THE BOOK MULTIPLE TIMES.
I cannot with this author. The only reason I am giving this book this rating is because I hate giving low ones but I may as well change it.

This was cute fluff.
No serious plot, no horrible bad guys, no murder, revenge, or any other dark elements. Just four love-sick alphas and a bitchy omega. If you are in need of a light read without any thought or concentration (that is basically erotica), then this is perfect. It's a why-choose omegaverse book with the four guys in love with the omega, none of them are in love with each other. There's no choking, bondage, drug use, questionable consent, or anything like that. It's a light and easy read.

This is my first book by this author, and I wasn't disappointed. There were some things in it that I didn't care for, but it wasn't enough for me to stop reading. Some reviewers said that it's exactly the same as the first book in the series, but since I haven't read any of the other ones, I had no idea.

I gave this four stars instead of five for two reasons.

Reason 1: The FMC is a bitch. They take perfect care of her while she's in heat, and she just accepts all their hospitality, then leaves them? Then, while she's pregnant, they do EVERYTHING for her, and I cannot name one thing she did for any of them. I have NO clue why they want her, besides the fact that she's short and sweet? But she wasn't even sweet. She was constantly being a bitch to them.

Reason 2: This pregnancy didn't feel real at all. One of the chapters says ten weeks later, then in the next couple of chapters, she says it's been weeks. And yet in the next chapter, she says she isn't in her second trimester yet...HOW? That math isn't mathing. Twelve weeks puts you at the end of the first and into the second, so how could it have been weeks and she's still in the first? Her nausea was all over the place, her growing was weird, and it just read like it was written by someone who's never been pregnant, or it's been so long they forgot.

The Plot
Hazel tries to have a one-night stand with a hot guy and ends up going into heat. But fear not. His pack members are there to help her through it. She abruptly leaves them after their generosity and only thinks about contacting them once she finds out she's pregnant. After being a complete idiot and not bothering to drink fluids and nearly having to be hospitalized, she moves in with the guys. Meanwhile, her best friend figures out he's in love with her and moves in with the pack, too. Are they all in college and yet manage to not only be hockey players but also keep their grades up? Yep. Everything is fine here.

The Characters

Roman is the alpha of the pack and also obscenely rich. I don't remember what he looks like, but he smells like rum and fruit. He's the insta-love guy who takes no BS when it comes to her.

Phillip is the smart one who makes sure she doesn't die. He smells like apple cider. I actually really liked him, he's like the hot daddy of the group.

Cormac is the studded dick of the group and smells like root beer. He's the protective ass of the group.

Sebastian is her friend from childhood, who figures out almost too late that he loves her. He smells like red wine and is the golden retriever.

Hazel is the FMC who takes the pregnancy as seriously as a hangnail. She nearly dies twice because she doesn't bother to drink water. She takes advantage of the guys and never reciprocates for them, unless you count playing Scrabble with Philip as being supportive and loving.

The Romance
The bonding in this one happens really late, and you don't get to feel the connection between them, which is disappointing.
There's no "fated" scenting or mating or anything like that in this author's universe.
The guys fall for her almost instantly, but she takes forever to bond with them. It's insta-lust, but when the heat is at the very beginning, you expect that. The romance was sweet in how the guys handled it and fawned over her. Seriously, you can tell these men were written by a woman because of how perfectly they act around her. Any real guy that would have been on the receiving end of her tantrums would have run for the hills.

*Why are there so many exclamation points?

One Night Changes It All

I KNEW IT!!! LOL…sorry, if you read Pack Power Play, then you’ll recognize our FMC, Hazel. She became friends with Alexis, and at one point Hazel introduces her friend Seb to Alexis. I had a feeling then that he was a goner for our girl, and guess what??? I was RIGHT…although he was also delusional & in denial, but it’s amazing what a little competition can do for one’s awareness 😂 From the very start, with those scorching scenes of Hazel & Roman, it was obvious that this was gonna be one heck of a story, and I have never been so happy to be so right ❤️ Too bad it takes more than me being right for characters to have an easy road to their HEA 🤷🏻‍♀️ Cause let me tell you about having your heart pulled in two different directions. One of the biggest issues that Hazel has to face is her wanting her best friend Seb AND the pack (his hockey rivals) that she spent her unexpected heat with (the little souvenir they left her with certainly didn’t UN-complicate things 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️). These guys though…I absolutely adored how they reacted to Hazel’s unexpected pregnancy. They made my heart smile so big, because that’s ALWAYS how you want the reaction to go. Then watching how beautifully they all took care of her (I know Phillip, you were the best at that…although she could’ve done without the kale salad 😝😂), it was just the comfort & sweetness overload that I needed. That wasn’t the best part though. Watching Seb & the guys become friends & then forge a bond as a pack for Hazel, was just one of the best examples of getting to know someone before making up your mind about them, and not just judging them based on what you hear (or what you think you know while y’all are competing during a highly volatile sport 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄😂). It was almost as satisfying as watching Seb & Hazel come to terms with how they felt about each other (friends-to-lovers at its finest 😍❤️). Ughh, and that little twist Seb threw into the mix halfway through the book…I laughed my head off cause it was the PERFECT plot twist to stir things up👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I love that Melissa gave us just the right amount of low-level angst so that things had that conflict, yet it wasn’t so much that it took away from the warm & fuzzy romance between Hazel & her guys. Don’t worry though, cause it wasn’t just lots of warm & fuzzy. There was also plenty of 🔥😈 All of these alphas made it so easy to fall for them, especially with the mouths on these alphas 🥵🔥😈 (yeah, you know I’m looking just a little harder in your direction Cormac 👀😉😝)….they were all so deliciously dirty, and they made every intimate moment 🔥🥵🙌🏻 Basically, I just always know I’m instantly going to be sucked into any Omegaverse story that Melissa gives me, and I haven’t been wrong yet. If you love heartwarming omegaverse stories, and pregnancy isn’t a trigger for you, then please grab this amazing story today 💖

3.5 - ⭐⭐⭐ 💫

Pucking the Enemy is the second novel in the why choose omegaverse hockey romance series, Pucking Pregnant. Each novel is an interconnected standalone set in the same world. Written in multi first person POV, we follow Hazel, an Omega juggling college alongside her best male friend. Hazel finds herself in a bit of a sticky situation when her heat hits at a college party; she never expects an unexpected night of passion with three handsome strangers would lead to a lot more than they bargained for...a pregnancy. To make matters more complicated these men happen to also be part of the rival hockey team to her school...a team her best friend is also on.

Hazel has a chance with the pack of her dreams...but what if the one thing missing is her best friend. Can she find a way to bring them all together?

This is a fast paced easy read for those who love Omegaverse.

Hazel is a sweetheart who accepts love so easily. Roman, Phillip, and Cosmac never anticipated finding their perfect piece but once they realize they refuse to let anything get in their way. I found their willingness to work alongside Hazel and help her really endeared me. Seb is Hazel's best friend and admittedly I struggled with him in the beginning but when he started to compromise instead of being angry I started to like him more.

This book is spicy - 5 spicy peppers out of 5 spicy peppers. Spice begins early on and remains pretty consistent throughout. There are multiple partner scenes, heat scenes, knotting, and lots of fluid. There is no MM with more of a focus on the female protagonist. I felt the scenes were well written and very much focused on female pleasure.

The story itself is low stakes and very minimal. You have Hazel having to navigate pregnancy and a pack that wants her; you have Seb grappling with the idea of can he be part of a pack and you have the plot line around Hazel's parents. What drew me in throughout this novel was just how cosy and effortless this book was. There is no risk reading this. It's spicy, the pack is rich, and they find a way no matter what. I did find the whole situation with Seb a little awkward at first but it ended up working out.

Overall, a solid read!

Who doesn’t love a story where an omega goes into heat after a one-night stand with a complete stranger? Especially when that stranger happens to be a hockey player that is on a different team than your long-time best friend. This was such a cute story and I really loved the characters. I love an accidental pregnancy story, so of course I am a big fan of this series by this author. I just feel like it adds an extra twist and when it is in an omegaverse, you get the added bonus of super protective alphas. I really enjoyed this pack. Hazel was a fantastic omega. She was strong but still showed that she wasn’t invincible. I wanted to scream at her family for not listening to her at all and it made me love the pack even more. They were such a great group of guys that showed just how much they cared for Hazel and took care of her. Seb was so sweet and the best best friend that Hazel could ever have.

I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook of this book and it was one of those books where I found myself sitting in the driveway of my house so that I could listen to one more chapter. The story was gripping and entertaining, so it had my attention. On top of that, the narrators did such a fantastic job of keeping my attention. I always applauded a narrator that can portray multiple characters and I am able to tell the difference between each one. The male narrator did a great job of portraying each member of the pack. The female narrator also did a great job of portraying the strong and sassy Hazel.

I continue to enjoy this author’s omegaverse books. This one might have been one of my favorites so far. I liked the story, I liked the characters, and I enjoyed the audiobook version. There was plenty of spicy good times between Hazel and her alphas, which only adds to how much I enjoyed reading/listening to it. It is an accidental pregnancy/forced proximity story, which isn’t for everyone, but are some of my favorite tropes. This was such an enjoyable story and a great omegaverse to read or listen to.

Hazel is an omega attending college. She was attending a party with her best friend, Seb when she meets Roman, who she immediately clicked with and left the party. A surprise heat follows and she gets through it with the help of Roman's pack. After a few weeks of not feeling well, she discovers she's pregnant. How Roman's pack reacts is such a sweet story.

The characters:
Hazel is a strong and supportive omega, her parents are social seeking betas who raised Hazel as if she was a beta, they want to use her as clout and marry her off to a beta who can help them in their social circles. Hazel is best friends with Seb, she attends all his games and they do everything together.

Seb is an alpha hockey player for the Hawkings Hawks, the college that Seb and Hazel both attend. He's Hazel's best friend and they are completely platonically devoted to each other. He wants a pack and never fully considered Hazel as she never seemed interested in the same future as he is.

Roman Kingswood is an alpha, who is player on the enemy team to Hawkings. He and Seb have a beef on the ice and have gotten into many fights. He's got golden retriever energy with Hazel and was the first to be attracted to her at a party. His family is mega rich and very influential.

Phillip is part of the Kingswood pack and also on the hockey team with Roman and Cormac. With Hazel he's completely attentive and always making sure she's eating and drinking water. He's a bit of a healthy eater and Hazel's diet consists mostly of candy so they clash a slight amount over this.

Cormac is the third member of the Kingswood pack and the wild child of the group. He was a huge breath of fresh air and I loved the chaos he brought to situations. He's a prankster and knows when to push boundaries and when to be supportive.

With Hazel bring pregnant by the Kingswood pack, can Seb put aside his hard feelings for Roman and see Hazel as the omega the he's been considering only a friend for so long?

This book was super cute, there's some tension and it was so much fun to read. I loved watching Seb come to his senses and decide to come to the Kingswood pack and then give them all the tea about Hazel.

This was a super fun read and I really enjoyed it. A great second edition to the Pucking Pregnant series!

I received an advanced copy of this book in return for my honest review.

I didn't want this story to end! It was so cute. Melissa, once again has done an amazing job at bringing these characters to life.

Our mmc's are Hazel, Seb, Roman, Cormac and Phillip. Our Omega Hazel is everything. She is such a spitfire and kind of a little growly but she's also kind, caring and compassionate. Seb, is her best friend and alpha. He's kind of silly for not realising his feelings alot sooner and kind of messed up alot but he is 1000% always on Hazel's side. Phillip, Cormac and Roman are a pack. Phillip is the serious but super caring one, Cormac is the Wild and crazy one which I love, he brings so much humour to the story and then there is Roman, our beautiful pack lead, he is immediately obsessed with Hazel and I love that as soon as he saw her it was it for him.

The plot was so good. We see Hazel forming such strong connections with Roman, Phillip and Cormac after an unexpected surprise. It was evident that Hazel was meant to be with them but due to her upbringing (not so nice parents) she kind of second guessed herself alot which is understandable. Seb, man, he messed up so bad. It took him a little while to figure out his situation but he got there in the end. I loved the banter between the guys, it brought so much light to the story and made me laugh.

Please read this story. It was amazing and you will not be disappointed. 🩷🩷🩷

This is the second book in the Pucking Pregnant series by Melissa Huxley. First off, you don't have to read the first book to get into this. Or any other for the matter (Hazel made an appearance in Pack Power Play as a new friend of the FMC Alexis, and Seb was shown there too. Even there, it was hinted there was more between them than just friends). Every book can be read in any order.

So, I did like Hazel. I found she was funny and quirky in a way. In addition to that, she was strong and independent, who escaped her parents and their plans for her. She experiences freedom at the university.

Her life takes an unexpected turn, when she met Roman at a party, she was visiting with Seb. They hit it off, and she goes home with him. Where she ends up having a heat. So, Roman and his packmates, Cormac and Phillip, help her through it.

Later, she discovers that she is pregnant. And from there the story takes its turn and she and the guys in her life have to learn to navigate that situation. The guys are not just the pack she met, but as I said before, her best friend Seb too.

The situation is tricky, because Seb and pack are from rivaling universities and therefore hockey enemies.

Overall, it was a sweet story and I enjoyed reading it. There were some mistakes I noticed. But nothing major. Like Roman told Hazel first, that he studies business and communications. In chapter 4 Cormac told her, that Roman was all about political science. Which didn't add up for me with what was said. But overall, it didn't really matter, because the story was not about their studies, but with them coming together as a full pack with a baby on the way.

So, I was invested in this, but it's not a favorite of mine. It's why I give it 4 stars.

Pack Plus Three was a bit of a miss for me, so I was worried I wouldn't enjoy this one either. But thankfully, I enjoyed this a lot more than it's predecessor.

My only one criticism is Sebastian joining the harem.

I understand the author was striving towards the friends to lovers trope between him and Hazel, but I personally didn't sense any spark between them before they offically got together.

I'd understand the development of their relationship if they had shown jealousy towards others or shown subtle feelings towards each other, but I didn't see any of that.

For example, Hazel didn't get jealous when she saw puck bunnies all over Sebastian at a party. She was only annoyed that he ditched her. Overall, it seemed like Hazel truly only saw him as a friend.

As for Sebastian, we are told by a 3rd party that he looks at her lovingly, but the problem is we the readers don't see this. He ditches her at parties, is always banging puck bunnies, and constantly refers to her as a friend. These actions don't seem like someone with a crush would do. He is also overprotective of her, sure. But I feel it's pointless to tell us what he does for her and how he looks at her, if we readers can't see these actions for ourselves.

To me, it just seemed like the relationship between Sebastian and Hazel was a little forced for the sake to fulfill the friends to lovers trope. Sebastian just didn't do it for me, and I could have lived without him being a ML, honestly.

👍 𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗳:

- you like a sweet rom com with little to no drama
- you're okay with insta love and insta lust
- you like sweet protective MLs stepping up to the plate and taking responsibility for their pregnant omega
- you're okay with f***boy MLs (before getting together with the FL)
- friends to lovers trope
- rival MLs

👎 𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗳:

- you're not into any of the above

I absolutely love Melissa Huxley and the picking pregnant series. Melissa has such away of bringing us a cute, adorable omegaverse, with characters that you just love. This story makes you want more.

One night and everything changes for Hazel which puts her future on a different path. Thrust immediately into a pack setting due to a lust induced heat brought on. Hazel has no choice but to rely on Roman and his two other pack mates to help her through. Roman, Philip and Cormac a pact from the age of 16 are just delicious, and each male character has their own dynamics and this a whole pact bar not having an omega. Hazel has had a great time until she realises who this pact is, that these three also play hockey and are on a rival hockey team. Her BFF Seb plays hockey and has a heated rivalry with the pact. Hazel has no choice but to run, leaving them in a deep slumber and no way of contacting her. Time passes and realisation hits Hazel that she is pregnant and one of three men will be the father. How will these three men react to the news and how will Seb react to this news.

This is just one of those stories that you just want more of as the characters each have their own individual essence and dynamic that brings this group together. The interaction within the pact, with Hazel and with Seb initially at the start and as our story progresses. Melissa Huxley has a way that just pulls you in as each of the characters are so likeable and loveable. We have the sweetness, the spice and laugh out loud moments with boys being boys.

This is a must read for anyone who loves omegaverse.

🐺 Synopsis: College isn't just about academics for Hazel—she's escaping an arranged marriage, exploring newfound freedoms, and figuring out who she really is. But after a fateful party and a steamy one-night stand during her heat, everything changes. Hazel finds herself pregnant with not one, but three potential dads: Roman, Phillip, and Cormac. The catch? They're the last people she ever expected to fall for, let alone start a family with.

💬 Thoughts: Once again, Melissa Huxley steals my heart with an omegaverse tale that's as spicy as it is sweet. Pucking the Enemy isn't just a story of unexpected love; it's a journey of self-discovery and overcoming deep-seated rivalries. The dynamic between Hazel and her trio of golden retriever-esque lovers—dedicated, protective, and ever so charming—is the heart of this novel. They're ready to put everything on the line for Hazel and their future together.

The interactions within the pack, especially with their friend Seb, add a layer of humor and warmth that's truly captivating. This book combines all my favorite tropes, delivering a story that's both endearing and exhilarating. If you're looking for a book that balances sweet moments with fiery passion, this is it!

🌟 Verdict: Melissa Huxley has done it again, creating a universe where each story stands alone yet feels part of a larger, comforting tapestry. Pucking the Enemy is a must-read for fans of omegaverse narratives or anyone looking for a heartwarming escape. The chemistry, character dynamics, and delightful dialogue make this book a standout in the series. I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Melissa Huxley is awesome. Seriously. I loved the first book in the series and a lot of times book 2 in a series (not hers, obviously) can be a little...drab...or feel rushed...but this book - while definitely still had the spice and fun parts of an omegaverse, tackled some real-life aspects of an accidental pregnancy after a one-night stand at a party.

Hazel and her lifelong best friend Seb attend a house party. As she's going to get a drink she meets Roman, who (surprise!) smells DELICIOUS and after a hot night she wakes up to find his roommates (his pack) who smell just as good and also find her heat has started. They all agree to help her through the heat...which of course she finds out several weeks later, results in an unplanned pregnancy.

I love that Melissa doesn't sugar coat her Hazel's pregnancy. She's sick, didn't take care of herself (until she finally let the guys take care of her), was nauseous for quite a while. She was tired, achy, had cravings, was emotional (even more than the omega emotions we usually see)...real pregnancy stuff.

Not everyone in the family approved (also realistic). But of course, because we ALL love a good HEA, you will love this book and the guys. So yes...5/5 for me!

Pucking the Enemy is the 2nd book in the Pucking Pregnant series by Melissa Huxley. You do not need to read book one before this book but you should read it at some point since it is a good book. This is a hockey OV story with one female omega and four male alphas; there is no sword crossing.

Hazel is an omega college student that has never had a heat. She has a surprise heat after a one night stand and spends her heat with him and his three other pack mates. A few weeks later she finds out she is pregnant and decides to inform the pack. This pack is part of the enemy hockey team of her best friend, Seb, who is an alpha. It isn’t until he almost losses Hazel that he finds out he loves her.

How will the pack react to finding out they are fathers? Does Seb fit the picture of this pack? How will her horrible family react when they find out she is pregnant?
This was a fun and spicy read that ends in a HEA. This is another great book by Ms. Huxley and I look forward to more books to come.

So we have Roman, Phillip and Cormac we are established pack but when Roman find her roaming a party alone, the attraction is instant, and one thing lead to another, and they show their interest, than her best friend steps in, Seb. Who is enemy with this pack because of hockey. Well Seb doesn’t trust them and they start to all form a pack around the pregnant omega now. Which makes the omega very happy until her parents start butting in and starting a flight with their daughter. Now this a standalone. But it’s part of the Pucking Pregnant Series. I would definitely recommend this audiobooks for omegaverse lovers really all romance lovers it’s so good.

Thank you Melissa Huxley for letting listening to this sweet story and review with my honest opinion.

Pucking the Enemy is such a cute omegaverse story. Hazel, our FMC Omega, is born to a family who despises packs and their lifestyle. Her family is determined that she shun everything omega about her and live her life under their rules so that she doesn’t “embarrass” them I high society. Hazel unexpectedly goes into heat during a one-night-stand and the Kingswood pack is more than willing to help her out, however they all seem to get more than they bargained for when Hazel finds out she’s pregnant. Along with Hazel we have her best friend, Seb, who is the sworn enemy of the Kingswood pack on the ice, and is also extremely devoted to Hazel. Will they be able to put aside their differences for Hazel? Will Hazel’s family finally accept her for who she is? If you’re interested in a cute why-choose hockey omegaverse story, with some golden retriever MMCs and an accidental pregnancy, then this is the book for you!

I really enjoy OV by Melissa Huxley. She gives the right amount of longing for the FMC and the pack to create a loving relationship while giving an array of complex characters and personalities.

I loved how Hazel was super sassy and the opposite of what most Omega females are usually written as. Her relationship with Roman was so sweet it made my teeth hurt.

I found myself longing for more time devoted to Phillip. I love a stoic OTT Alpha character and I wanted more of him.

The tension with Hazel and Seb hurt in the beginning. I loved their friendship but I wish the longing on Seb's side was more developed. The two of them seemed to wake up one day and realized they loved each other while still trying to front they were only "friends".

Cormac was a breath of fresh air to this group. His quirky nature and surprise peen was needed in this pack.

Overall, I enjoyed this story and can't wait to see what Melissa Huxley has next!!

I have really enjoyed other books by Huxley. I think she is a fantastic writer, but similar to the first of this series, the pregnancy trope books are just falling short for me.
It's possible because I have had 2 difficult pregnancies I tend to not *love* pregnancy tropes in general, and therefore may be judging these a little too harshly.
I found a lot of the descriptions surrounding the pregnancy itself to be inaccurate or overdone. And book 2 (in terms of how the pregnancy symptoms and the FMC's view on it) reads similar to book 1.
Now, if I ignore those issues, I liked the book. The spice is good, the plot is manageable.

So, ultimately, if you love pregnancy tropes and the whole idea of being cared for above and beyond during pregnancy, then you will absolutely adore these books. For me, I'm a little too jaded from my own personal experiences to feel that way.

But again, I love Huxley as an author in general!
