Two Neighbors. One Meet-Cute. Samantha James prefers pixels to people. By day, she grooms dogs; by night, she dominates (or fails to) in Build-A-Battle Royale, the hottest third-person shooter on the planet.
Asher Sinclair, retired pro gamer, is hiding from fame in a friend’s quiet duplex. He’s not interested in neighbors, especially not quirky dog groomers.
That is, until he hears her being murdered on his first night there.
With 911 on speed dial and a hammer in hand, Asher charges in to save the day…
Only to discover Samantha is just in the middle of a virtual showdown.
No unalivers here, unless you count the avatars on her TV screen.
Cue the most epic misunderstanding ever, and watch as gaming noob meets ex-pro in a hilarious, heartwarming, and shockingly steamy clash of controllers and chemistry.

This is a short novella, perfect for a palate cleanser. Romantic comedy? Light-hearted banter? It's got that in droves, despite the short page count. And if you want a little more, with a wink wink and a nudge nudge? Yeah, it's got that, too.
For all the gamer girls out there. We like romance, too. Even when we're blowing heads off (or failing to)!
Lena Song is an undisclosed amount of years past birth. She writes things she would never do in real life, and hopes everyone can keep the contents of her books a secret from her husband, because he likes to get -ideas-. Snark replaces the blood in her veins. All brain activity has been destroyed by the 6 minions she carried and birthed into the world. Also the dogs. And the cats. There are a lot of those, too.
Asher a retired pro gamer moves in next door to Sam a social gamer.
When Sam is being brutally attacked Asher ran to her rescue..a huge misunderstanding later and they are left with only one bed (😍 I’m a sucker for only one bed)
Asher teaches Sam how to game better all while giving her some massive Os!
My husband and I are gamers and I shared a few parts of this book with him! Loved the spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️ it was 🔥🔥🔥HOT! I’m not usually a fan of insta love, but this one got me. Quick and easy read!
This baby is a fast-paced instalove. Sam and Asher meet in a cute way. He thinks someone is hurting her, and we'll become a I'm save you type of neighbor. And bust in, and we'll Sam's fine lol she's just really passionate about gaming and gets really into it. He offers her his place to sleep, and we'll one thing lead to another, and they are playing and hooking up, lol. He's teaching her how to play better, and she's teaching him we'll idk what she's teaching him, lol.

I mean it wasn’t bad exactly but I wasn’t planning reading all spice with context sprinkled here and there. I was really excited to read a romcom about a gamer girl and a retired pro, but it wasn’t long enough of to be really considered that. It took me like an hour to read so if you want a quick dirty read here you go!
As a gamer girlie, this was just.. a no from me. The gaming context was not good. The 50 billion nicknames right away. He falls first? I just.. the whole thing happens in less than 18 hours.
I picked this novella as a palette cleanser after being tempted by in on Facebook. I was exciting for a gamer girlie storyline. But this just didn’t have a storyline at all.
Honestly this was good for a novella sized book. It was a super fast read. Great for a palette cleanser. Easy read. Spice was good. The only thing that bothered me was the insta love. But when you only have 94 pages to write a story that starts the way this one did I suppose it’s a bit harder to draw it out. I do think this was a good set up for a full length novel if we added tension and slow burn. But all in all the book did what it was meant to do. And I had fun reading it.
I like the idea of this genre, I want to like this genre. So very badly. Meet cutes with Gamer boys? Yes, please! As a gamer myself, I want this to be a thing. But have you ever watched a movie about a topic you are familiar with? Something is usually wrong and it fucking gets under your skin and like ruins it.
Something about this book was just like that, it felt off. Like that pro-gamer felt more like the Hot dad CEO than a guy who just got off of being a pro-gamer. It seemed like he was maybe into shooters, that maybe that's why there was a disconnect for me (most of my gaming experience is with MMO's and some MOBA's) That said, I did like it and I finished it.
The spicey scene was fucking HOT. so good. omg. I can and will reread that whole encounter. That encounter ALONE pulled this book to almost 5 stars
I feel like this book was.. almost there. Almost. I would recommend it. It's a short read with good banter and good scenes. I'm interested to see if Lena Song puts out more stuff, I'll more than likely be happy to read it.
Wow , this short story was amazing. Definitely had some funny moments but the spice was like a dang, I wanted more 🥵 Asher and Sam are definitely one of my favorite characters so far in the fiction world. I also loved the dog (Milo) added to the mix, too bad it was only a short story because I wanted more I needed to know more.
This is a cute, fast-paced, steamy romance that is great as a palette cleanser. I typically don’t like insta-love, but this was cute. I don’t like the nickname Bunny and how much it is used for a 94 page book…lol. Otherwise, funny and sexy story. Interested enough to read the second one.
I came across this, I believe, from a Facebook group someone mentioned it. I game and thought this concept storyline would be interesting. Short story, quick read, and very cute character relationship. 🌶🌶🌶
Calling all my gamer girls, we may not be skilled but we know how to have fun. I can’t tell you how quick I signed up for this arc. I absolutely adored every single aspect. The characters were hilarious, the neighbor trope and Asher. It was insta-LOVE which normally turns me off from a book. But, this one was so much fun to read!! Highly recommend. Hopefully Ms. song starts a new genre trend with gamer girls!!
As a gamer myself with a partner who’s a gamer this novella was everything! This has to be one of my favorite novellas! It was funny, cute, and spicy! It had everything I was looking for!
THIS WAS ABSOLUTE GAS! A scrumptious little snack of a book. And omg was it good. The spice was spicing, the gamer girls were gaming. This book is as good as good crack. Asher is for sure my new book boyfriend. 🥵🥵
