From the darkest dungeon of the Sultan to the pitiless heat of the Red Sands, a disparate band of prisoners must evade capture, face hardship, monsters, curses, and the relentless pursuit of Fazir's elite cavalry. Time is not on their side, either. If they do not reach the far city of Tantuffa before the next full moon, war may engulf the world.
I got this from a random bookstore, so i had no idea whether or not i would enjoy it, but i would say that this is one of the VERY few books i would like to re-read. This was definitely an adventure, and it lacked the flaws of boredom and over-activity that i have noticed in other books of this nature.
I felt that even though there was little description of the characters, i knew them as real people and i really value that sort of relatability. Not only did i feel they were real, they were also interesting, quality characters. Very enigmatic.
The writing style was also golden. I would recommend this to really anyone, though it has some fantasy content. I dont think that it would overwhelm those who aren't into the overly fictional.
I'm a fairly old school D&D player, starting with AD&D 2e. Now that edition had a terrible skill system, including a never used roll for "bend bars".
This book starts with a successful use of said skill. Actually, it uses all kinds of obscure skills and powers.
But judging from the other reviews, the book seems to hold up even if you're not a D&D player. I think the good pacing and wholesome cameraderie of the characters make the whole of this book be so much greater than the sum of its admittedly simple parts. It shouldn't get a four, but I don't regret giving it that extra star.
I found this in the book room of my local library for half a dollar. Of all places it was in the romance section of the used books. I have long since learned to search the whole room because sometimes you find the odd gem in with the dross.
An enjoyable read. Several desperate individuals come together to escape a tyrants dungeon and avert war. Certainly not to be taken very seriously; but recommended.
I got a cheap copy from half price... and it wasn't bad. It felt a lot like a novelization of a D&D campaign. I didn't like that so many of the encounters felt random, with no connection to the main quest or the characters themselves. Also, for something billed as "an Arabian adventure" it didn't take advantage of the Arabian cultures or setting much.
This book to me, was a wonderful read, a real page turner. The characters were well written, and the plot very interesting. The combination of different cultures in the characters and the way the characters interacted were a delightful combination. This book is definitely one of my favorites and always will be.
I personally love and will recommend this book as one of my all time favorite fantasy writers. It was one of my all time overall books I will go back to. I loved it. I read it as a kid, I have since performed nothing but great praises over it. It's absolutely amazing! If you are starting out in the fantasy world, this is your book. 5 stars all the way around!
This is a classic Dungeon and Dragons adventure book. As I read it, I could imagine the group of friends sitting around the table with their piles of books and dice, arguing and laughing. It was a good read
This was an easy read fantasy, there weren't a lot of details or complications to the story. I enjoyed it, but it's not something I would re-read or want a sequel to. I also wasn't very impressed with the ending it had too much of an unrealistic happily ever after feel.

When this group of prisoners escape the Sultan's dungeons, they run headlong into adventure. As one dangerous situation leads into another, familiarity breeds friendship. The companions face magic, monsters, and pursuit by the jailers they had escaped.
Ein lesenswertes Buch mit einer Geschichte wie aus 1001 Nacht. Die Charaktere und die Geschichte könnten auch die Idee für ein Rollenspielabenteuer in einem arabischen Hintergrund mit Fantasy gewesen sein.
