This was such an adorable best friends to lovers story!

I read this one in just a matter of hours- I just could not put it down! I was hooked right away!

I loved all the characters and kept rooting for Emmy and Evan! The story was relatable and had a satisfying ending. I adored the flashbacks to when they were kids too.

This is the last book in a series, but can definitely be read as a stand-alone.

Such a quick and fun read that will have your heart swooning! Definitely recommend checking this one out!!🩵

Thank you @kristinewjoy for this #gifted e-copy!🫶🏼

Thank you to Kristine W. Joy for the ARC!

This is the last installment of her series My Way to Romance. I have read all 3 of her books, and I cannot express how I absolutely love her books. They are written beautifully.

In this book we meet Emmy (fmc), who is struggling to find her place in life, and then we meet Evan (mmc), whose life as a doctor is more stable. Emmy and Evan have been best friends since childhood, and have a great friendship. Slowly, they start realizing that they might want more from each other than just being friends.

I definitely couldn’t stop rooting for their love story through out the book. It was exciting, yet fun reading this closed door, best friends to lovers book.

I highly recommend it, if you’ll like a sweet and quick read.

Dr. Evan Davis & Emmy Williams
- childhood best friends
- High school Marriage Pact 🤭
- Dual POV
- Cinnamon roll, thoughtful, ER doctor MMC
- Spunky, in denial, sweet, makeup artist FMC
- He takes care of her & comforts her
- He spoils her & is always a gentleman

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Book 3 in My Way To Romance Series - oh my gosh. Emmy girl. I’m sorry but you’re blind 🙈 Evan is OBSESSED with you. Why do we do this? Why are girls always so blind to the sweet men right in front of our faces? I wish I could be mad at Emmy, but I have my own Evan (sorry husband, I see you now 😘).

Evan strives to make sure that Emmy is completely taken care of. His world revolves around her and it’s the sweetest 🥹 They both understand each other in ways that only they could. Emmy knows Evan is her favorite person but she’s terrified what would happen if she let herself really feel for him. All her relationships have crashed and burned. She can’t let that happen to Evan, which means she inadvertently pushes him away 🥲

Also, excuse me. This is NOT how I saw the last quarter of the book going. The way I was bawling in chapter 15 & 17. I was not okay 🙈🫠 Kristine whhyyyy you have to break my heart like that? I forgive you because their HEA was the thing of actual dreams. But I’m wounded. Be prepared for a rollercoaster, that ends with some of the sweetest, heartfelt declarations I’ve ever read 🥹

The three best friends in My Way To Romance Series have been some of my favorite to follow. They are all so different but they come together and love each other well. 💕The bond the girls have is one I feel like we are all praying we get, one that lasts through all the seasons of life.

This is a clean, closed door romcom. There is no cursing and some kissing, making out.

The idea of this book was so promising but the story fell flat. The female lead, Emmy, was so wishy-washy and couldn’t make up her mind to save herself, causing so many repetitive conversations. Some of the side characters added depth to the story, while others seemed unnecessary. The redeeming quality in this story was 100% the male lead, Evan. He kept this story from flat lining.

This story is a cute friends-to-more and although Emmy and Evan have a solid friends-only kind of love, Evan would definitely go for more.

Evan is an emergency room doctor, while Emmy (aka Dolly) works in a perfume store, and this duo has been besties since middle school. Friends-to-love can be a tricky trope because there is always the risk of ruining a good thing with a confession, but I do enjoy it because it’s one of my own personal tropes.

Things to love:
❤️A pact made as teens to marry if neither one is married by 30
❤️An amazing friend group turned family
❤️He cares for her
❤️He falls first
❤️BOSTON! I love that city and this setting is perfect
❤️Sweet romance

Although I was completely aggravated and frustrated at times, the journey to the end was worth it all. This is such a fun series!

Staking His Claim -
OMFG! This story really resonated with me as I was in a similar situation years ago, but realised we were better off as friends. I found myself hooked right from the beginning and couldn’t stop reading until I finished. This was a sweet, feel-good story, with amazing characters and a plot about true friendships, finding real love and taking risks, that drew me into the story and kept me thoroughly entertained. If you enjoy reading best friends to lovers stories, then this book needs to be on your bookshelf now.

I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I think, if I had had the time, I would’ve read this one all in one sitting! It was difficult to put down. Especially once the plot twist occurred. I HAD to know what happened!

I really enjoyed the little flashbacks that the reader got to see of Emmy and Evan back in middle school. Emmy’s treatment of Evan back in their teen days and her ability to tolerate Carol and her antics spoke to Emmy’s compassionate side.

It was so easy to like both Emmy and Evan. Evan definitely made it obvious that he card for, and loved Emmy. But Emmy struggled to see his love for her, instead she always saw all of her past relationships and how they had fallen apart.
Her fears didn’t cause miscommunication. They caused her to not take some chances she could have and also to send mixed signals to Evan, eventually causing a rift between the two.

You might want a tissue or two handy as you read, but the extended epilogue makes up for the tears.

Thanks for the early copy, Kristine!

This one was cute, but not quite as good as Secret Celebrity. I wanted more to happen in the story, besides them working out their relationship, because it made the book feel a little slow... And Emmy was a bit frustrating, suddenly being attracted to him and jealous and everything. I wanted her to change more gradually, or maybe look back and see she'd been fighting feelings, or something (because he hadn't changed). And she really should have done some kind of grand gesture, or at least finally confess her feelings first, in the end. But, I did like Evan, and his side of the romance. And, their friendship was great. It was fun to see them build on that foundation, and have their lifetime of memories together. I also loved having Jo and Larissa in the story!

Content: clean.

Rating: 2.5 ⭐️

Genre: Closed Door Romance

This was just not for me. I found FMC Emmy to be quite annoying and very hot and cold with the MMC Evan. He carried a lot of the story for me. (The extra .5 is for his sake)

I usually like friends to lovers, but with this one, it annoyed me so much that they were practically a couple (acting like one together) without the title and yet Emmy was constantly sabotaging them.

The first two books were so much better. I almost DNF’ed this one. Emmy is the WORST. So obnoxious and childish and Evan deserves so so so much more than her and he also needs to grow a backbone.
Carol is also awful.
Ugh. Do not recommend

My Marriage Pact is a sweet and swoony closed-door romcom. It’s the third and last standalone story in Kristine W. Joy’s My Way to Romance Series that follows three best friends who live in Boston.
Finally it’s time to read Emmy’s love story and her happy ending!
Emmy is trying to find her place in the world now that Jo is happily married and Larisa is getting married soon and they both are living their best lives - own families, new jobs, new cities.
Evan is her childhood best friend and he’s really always there for her no matter what. He takes care of Emmy and has been by her side since they were kids. And she does it for him as well.
Their friendship is the sweetest and I loved their relationship. Seeing them realise they’re meant to be together was a delight.
And I loved the group of friends. These three girls were so supportive of each other through all the books. They loved fiercely and it was great to see them all happy and together.
Evan and Emmy’s love story was exciting and heartwarming and I was so glad to see them getting their happily ever after.

What you’ll find:
💍 Friends to More
💍 Marriage Pact
💍 Doctor MMC
💍 He takes care of her
💍 Dual POV
💍 Swoony Kisses

Omg, this was a beautiful and well-written book with adorable main characters. Emmy is trying to find her place in the world and Evan is an emergency room doctor and Emmy’s childhood best friend, who is always there for her. He was the perfect MMC and made me swoon.

I wanted to knock some sense into Emmy on a few occasions. She was worried about ruining her friendship by falling in love with her best friend. The “will they, won’t they” was driving me crazy. And there was a twist which had me biting my nails! I was rooting for them till the end. Also, the epilogue was perfect🥹

If you like feel-good, closed-door romance with childhood friends to lovers trope, then this book is for you.

Thank you so much Kristine for this ARC copy!

I absolutely love the friends to lovers trope, especially if they are childhood/lifelong friends! I love that the author included some flashback/"remember when" moments to take us back to the events that tie into their current setting.

Evan is dreamy, I cannot get enough of him! I love that he is a doctor and gets a chance to help Emmy during a time of need. Emmy is a little harder to like at first because she is hot/cold but I am sure glad she warms back up at the end (the final scene is 🤩🥰😍!!)

This is a cute story that is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone.

CW: mild innuendo

Evan and Emmy have been friends for seventeen years. When Evan was 18 & Emmy was 16, they made a marriage pact: if they weren’t married by the time Evan turned thirty, they’d marry each other. With Evan’s thirtieth birthday creeping closer, he’s ready to bring up that pact. But what will happen when he does?

You can find out on June 6th!

Favorite Quotes:
🩷 “Maybe all those perfect lines and grand gestures are just fantasy. Maybe what I really want is someone a little more ... flawed. More real. Someone who can make me laugh on my worst days and hold me close on my best days. Someone who doesn't need cheesy lines because their actions speak volumes. Someone who knows me inside and out, flaws and all.”

🩷 ”I thought ... after our conversation, that I could continue on with life by dating someone that was the complete opposite of you. As it turns out, that made me miserable. I don't want anyone else, Emmy. I want you and only you!"

🩷 The ways of the heart are intricate and difficult to understand.

Evan and Emmy’s romance was a real roller coaster. When Evan calls in for the marriage pact to be fulfilled Emmy is running scared. She is up and down trying to decide if putting their friendship on the line will be worth the risk of dating and possible break up. It’s amusing and chemistry charged. Poor Emmy doesn’t even realize Evan has her heart until it might be too late. There are lots of laughs and moments where your heart is heavy with sad frustration. I loved the journey this took me on.
Rating: PG, clean romance, no on or off page hanky panky, no swearing, HEA.

Next to no plot. No character development. Lots of dialogue that went nowhere. Emmy is fickle and annoying. Evan was decent. Her coworker was terrible. I’m not sure why she ever claimed to be friends with her when everything Carol said annoyed Emmy (and me). The. Evan dating Carol was the worst especially since he genuinely seemed to do it to try to forget Emmy. The only way it would have been somewhat believable for him to date her was if he was trying to make Emmy jealous. Carol is shallow and gossipy and so so fake. Just… why… her friendship with Jo and whats-her-face didn’t feel believable either. I know it’s the 3rd in a series and I didn’t read the others but Emmy didn’t seem to know how to be a good friend. There was no depth to their friendship.

The “wrong time” trope can work, but it fell flat each time it happened in this book. Anyway, maybe I’m just annoyed after a string of “meh” books.

I really don't know how to rate this book.

This is a Rom (space) Com because it just doesn't melt together, the romance part its so good I was really loving the character then I kinda hated Emmy for her "I don't want to lose your friendship"
Like girl you are gonna lose him anyway, but it was reasonable cause the friends to lovers trope
But the the comedy part just felt like 2012 watpad with all those celebrities

Honestly the book was terrible! For them being 30, they act like they’re in high school. I skimmed through the last 8 chapters because I couldn’t wait for the book to be over. If I could give it zero stars I would. Don’t waste your time.

My Marriage Pact
by: Kristine W. Joy
⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is the story of Emmy and Evan who have been friends since childhood. These characters are so cute and relatable. I was rooting for them immediately. There are little flashbacks of these two from their days in middle school and this was an aspect of the story I really enjoyed. The way Emmy treated Evan during their awkward teenage years was endearing and certainly speaks to her compassion as a likeable character.

It was really easy to like both of these two. Evan is definitely the one who falls first and I'm a real sucker for a man who does that. He really would have done anything for Emmy. It took Emmy a bit longer to get there and she struggled to see the love that Evan had for her because of past relationships. Because of that, she failed to be a risk taker when it came to love and this causes a little fracture in their relationship.

"Why are girls always so blind to the sweet men right in front of our faces?" I get this! Evan was so in love with Emmy and she literally could not see it. His whole world revolved around her and it's truly the sweetest. I mean, this is what we want from an MMC. Because of their long friendship, there's a sweet understanding between the two and they just get each other. I think Emmy is afraid of the relationship not working out and so she chooses to keep their friendship without the risk of losing it so she ends up pushing him away, not really intending to.

There's a little twist in the story that I did not see coming and I was clutching at my heart there for a bit but this story does end with a super sweet, heartfelt HEA.

This is the last installment in a series called My Way to Romance. I did not read the first two but each book can definitely be read as a standalone without question. The series follows three best friends who all live in Boston. This was a very quick read and an adorable story about best friends to lovers. You could easily read it in a few hours if uninterrupted.

It's a clean, closed door romance but an absolutely adorable story. When you want something quick that's really feel good with fun characters and a plot filled with true friendship, this one's for you. It's such a cute, heartwarming read!

Thank you Kristine Joy for the advanced copy of this book for my honest review. It was a treat to read.

Review:
This is the 3rd book of the My Way to Romance series. Where can I seriously get a guy like Evan?? He is so sweet and loves Emmy so much. He cares for her and loves her and always by her side when she needs him. Ooo… and he remembers everything about her and surprised her with things that she loves too. Love to read the scenes when they were in middle school and high school too. And he takes care of her when she fractured her arm. I love her friends waking her up to help her realize that she had always love Evan and often compare her date to Evan. Haha...though I don't like Carol but she played the part too. haha... (opps better not spoil too much) . This book made me smile, swoon, frustrated at times (read then you will understand) and also feel the love.

And if you haven’t read the first book and second book please do. It’s called My Forbidden Billionaire which is one of Emmy’s best friend who is, Josephine (Jo)’s story and also My Secret Celebrity which is Emmy’s other best friend Larisa’s story.

Can’t wait to read her other books. It will be interesting too. Thanks @kristinewjoy for the ARC .

My Marriage Pact is the third book in Joy's My Way to Romance series. This book, like the others in the series, is a sweet contemporary romance. My Marriage Pact features Emmy Williams and Evan Davis, best friends since middle school.

When they were kids, they made a pact, a marriage pact. They said that when they got to be 30 years old, if they weren't married, they would marry each other. Evan is turning 30, and while he knows he has been in love with Emmy for most of his life, he hopes she remembers and want to honour their agreement. When he brings it up though, Emmy shuts him down. His friendship is too valuable to her and knowing that she doesn't have the best history when it comes to relationships, she is loathe to consider changing the nature of their relationship. She told Evan that she never saw him as a love interest and wouldn't even consider trying for fear of losing what they have.

While heartbroken, Evan accepts her answer even while he hopes she changes her mind. Revisiting their pact has Emmy seeing things in a different light. Can she acknowledge her jealousy when it comes to Evan and his being sought after by other women? And if so, can she open her heart, risking it all in the hopes of getting everything she never knew she always wanted?

Readers may remember Emmy from My Forbidden Billionaire or My Secret Celebrity, the first and second books in the series. The three best friends - Josephine, Larisa and Emmy are recurring characters in the series. Of course, this being Emmy's story makes her the lead, but we still enjoy the dynamic between these best friends.

This is a very sweet story. Evan is a special man who treasures Emmy just as she adores him. Being married to your best friend seems to be the perfect relationship, but one can understand Emmy's fear of risking, and possibly losing, it all. Sometimes it takes time to see what is right in front of you. While we know a HEA is in store for these two, it was a fun ride to get there.

If you're looking for a sweet romance, this is definitely worth checking out. The books in this series, while interconnected, are standalone stories so feel free to jump into whichever one calls to you first!

•This is the third and final standalone story in the “My Way to Romance’ Series, focusing on Emmy and Evan’s points of view, in their story.

Life for dear Emmy has been simple until Evan, her rock-solid childhood best friend turned amazing doctor, drops a bombshell. He wants to cash in the marriage pact they made as teenagers. Evan’s always been there for her but when he suggests they take their friendship to the next level, Emmy completely freezes. She is too afraid to risk their tight bond for something possibly more, and if things don’t work, be left all alone. But a twist of fate lands Emmy in Ethan’s arms after an accident, and suddenly, everything is changed. Although by the time Emmy finally gathers up the courage to admit her feelings, it all blows up in her face…

“Maybe what I really want is someone a little more flawed. More real. Someone who can make me
laugh on my worst days and hold me close on my best days. Someone who doesn’t need cheesy lines because their actions speak volumes. Someone who knows me inside and out, flaws and all.”

“He’s been my real-life superhero. And I’m his Dolly.”

@kristinewjoy what a sweet and swoony, frustrating, engaging, friends to lovers, happy ending, closed-door romcom this story is. The mixed signals from one character had me shaking my head more times than not. I was really starting to question how long before one would take the risk and admit their true feelings. Time was clicking! What I really liked in this story was the flashback memories, the connections, the genuine friendships, and the real happiness others felt about Evan and Emmy. This is a good story to read!☺️

“You are my past, my present and, I hope, my future. You are the one I want to build my life with and around. You are the most incredible person I have ever met
in my entire life, and I don’t want to live without you.”

#mymarriagepact

“I love you. And you’re right. There’s nothing I want in this world more than you. I’m ... addicted to you.”

My Marriage Pact is a swoon-worthy, heartwarming, heartaching, maddening, addicting, beautiful, sweet, endearing, charming, and precious read! I have sooooo many things to say about this fantastic sweet romantic comedy which drove me insane in the best way! But first, a bit of background. This is the third book in the My Way To Romance series which can all be read as standalones. I LOVE every book in this series! My Marriage Pact is a childhood-best friends to lovers, he falls first, he takes care of her, mixed signals, dual pov, swoony kisses, prioritizing fear before risk, doctor main male character, and teenage marriage pact cash in read!

Emmy and Evan's story completely captured my heart! It is clear these two were made for each other. The vibes coming off Evan from the very being are "she is my world". It took no time to realize he is absolutely in love with Emmy, but doesn't make a move because he cares about her too much to risk loosing her......until their high school marriage pact provides the perfect opportunity. Honestly, I was rooting for Evan the entire time! Typically, I root the female character and crush on the male character....but Evan is so special I was both rooting for him and crushing on him!

Emmy is a wonderful character who I both loved and found maddening in the most relatable way. She allows fear to guide her instead of her heart when it comes to Evan. In their situation I would let fear of loosing him altogether guide me too which is partially what made Emmy's actions and reactions so maddening yet relatable 🤣. However, I adore Emmy and am so glad I read her story!

I appreciate the strong female friendships in this series! Seeing some of my favorite characters reappear was incredibly fun. They said to Emmy the same things I longed to say. I loved they consistently reappeared with compassion, reason, honesty, and hope! This book is a MUST read for rom com lovers!

A extra special and very huge thank you to Kristine W. Joy for allowing me to be on her launch team! I always love your books and am so happy I got to read Emmy & Evan's story!

-I didn't like the miscommunication
-the third act break up relationship wise and friendship wise 😭
-Emmy was in denial about her feeling for Evan I know that a MC can be in denial about their feelings but she was doing it a bit too much and for too long
-she kept giving mixed signals to Evan and ,at some point it was also confusing me
-I didn't like that she only realised her feelings for him after he said they should move on and stay friends after she rejected him several times
-Some parts were just not needed it dragged a bit at some point

I know that there are several ppl who loved her book but it just wasn't for men

Tropes:
💙He takes care of her
💙best friends to more
💙Swoony kisses
💙Doctor MMC
💙Dual pov
💙He spoils her

I hope I didn't just make u not wanna read it , I hope u try it for yourself and see if u like it ✨

Remember Jesus loves u💖

The third but standalone book in the ‘My Way To Romance’ series is a sweet, closed door romance between two childhood best friends, who are currently walking a thin line between friendship & love.

Emmy is struggling with her mixed emotions as she is the only one in their group of three girl friends who is still single & yet to find her breakthrough on career front, as an aspiring makeup artist. She however has Evan - her best friend from school - who is always there for her through thick & thin.

Evan is a doctor in the ER and he has been in love with his best friend, Emmy since a long time. Maybe even since the day he saw her in school? But, she has been oblivious to this & Evan is nearing his thirtieth birthday now. He decides to invoke the marriage pact he made with Emmy as kids.

Their friendship is so special and they have such sweet moments together. While Evan wants to take a chance on his feelings, Emmy is scared to risk their more than a decade old friendship. But, will she regret letting go of this chance?

I had a really sweet and fun time with these two. The thoughtful gestures by Evan were such a green flag thing. He is a sweetheart. At times I felt like just shaking Emmy and asking her to say yes to Evan! However, we see how it is difficult for her to risk & complicate her relationship with Evan. But, when she eventually decides to face her feelings, it just might be a bit too late.

This was an easy to read, sweet romance which may be extra special if you ever might have had these feelings for your best friend - requited or not. This becomes extra sweet if you have read the first two books in the series, the love stories of Jo & Larisa and the friendship of these three girls is in itself so fun. I was happy to see them all happy in the extended epilogue.
