“and you don’t have to be so scared
of feeling it all.”

- Ribbons And Icing And Roses

I don’t read as much poetry as I would ideally like to, but this was a captivating journey beginning to end. The two contrasting tones of the book were indeed distinct, but not at all unrelated. You can tell that despite the opposing energies of this book, it was written by the same spirit with the same core of loving and being loved as its cornerstone.
DMNM was sexy and untamed, but also devastating and therapeutic. The author bared her soul for the reader in a very vulnerable and a very real way that makes me want to read more poetry and find a creative outlet for my emotions as well (And isn't it an artist's dream to inspire?)

Luna Seranova has cast her spell again! This time in the form of her debut poetry book “Dark Moon New Moon”. I devoured these poems in one sitting. Somehow they all hit home. Divided into two sections, Dark Moon shares the vulnerable and darkest parts of being a woman in a man’s world. While the New Moon section breathes hope and power to your heart. Deeply relatable and beautiful poetry I will be scribbling in my journals for years to come.

A beautiful and moving piece of art! I haven’t read poetry in so long and Luna’s words reminded me of why I love the poetry genre so much. My favorite one is Witch // Woman but they’re ALL soo soo good. 🖤

EDIT: Went to fix a typo in my prior review and somehow all the text from that review disappeared. :'(((

I really enjoyed this poetry collection from Luna! She has such an enchantingly witchy way of weaving words. I deeply resonated with and related to her "Dark Night of the Soul" poems in Dark Moon, AND the breakthrough/renewal poems in New Moon.

For full transparency, I am a subscriber of Luna's YouTube channel. However, I found this independently enjoyable separate from my personal enjoyment of her content!

As her first publication, Luna Seranova’s poetry collection Dark Moon New Moon is a very strong debut. Full of unflinching authenticity, the poems lead readers through despair and into hope. The duality of each moon phase is such clever structuring and only adds to the experience of entering Seranova’s rich mind.

At turns soul crushing and genuinely hopeful, DMNM bleeds raw talent on each page. Sometimes a lack of formal poetry instruction inhibits the art of a piece. In this case it strips away any pretension and connects more immediately to the reader.

Seranova is a master of injecting small moments of sweet domesticity into impactful moments of pain and trauma, and deeply reflective verse inside moments of intense emotion.

DMNM spoke to something deep and tender in me. As someone who often holds emotion at a distance, Seranova’s vulnerability was irresistible, cracking something open within me.

I adored DMNM and can’t wait to see future projects from Seranova’s wholly fresh voice and perspective.

I am generally not a poetry reader but I can honestly say I loved this collection.

Luna somehow manages to articulately capture the delicacy, beauty and divinity of the female experience while also highlighting the cruelty and ruthlessness of the world when faced with confident, healing women. Throughout it all, this collection made me feel so empowered.

I felt seen in many of the poems. Something which I had never experienced till now. My personal favourites were ‘Born To Love/Forced To Fight’, ‘Psychic v Psychosis’, ‘Seventeen’ and ‘Ribbons and Icing and Roses.’

Thank you, Luna, for this gift!

Dark Moon New Moon is a stunning collection of poems that I couldn’t put down. I read it all in one sitting, pulled in by the beauty and honesty of Luna’s words. Her poems explore love, loss, healing, and transformation, moving through emotions as naturally as the phases of the moon. This is the kind of book you’ll want to return to whenever you need a reminder of life’s cycles and the beauty in starting anew.

I loved this book! I read it in one sitting and went through every sensation imaginable. But mostly, what made me love this book was that I felt deeply understood. I don't usually like poetry books, but this one is impossible not to like. Luna's writing manages to be subtle even when talking about intense topics, sometimes I felt like I was listening to a song more than reading a book.
