Joanna just wants to spend the holiday curled up with her coven of handsome professors, but family obligations wait for no one. Instead of wintery cuddles, she’s up to her neck in the Pike brothers and their wives, a cast of political figures invited to their dinner parties and, worst of all, Callum’s father, Duncan. Duncan Pike is a nasty piece of work--not only did he place a young Callum in the heart of an ugly war, he disapproves of Isaac and Aiden.

Duncan claims a new war is coming, and it looks like he might be right. As if that weren’t enough, the infamous warrior Sabine York is showing a marked interest in Callum--is she after revenge? Or does she want to add Callum to her coven of soldiers?

When trouble strikes and Callum is separated from the rest of the coven, Joanna, Isaac, and Aiden must travel from the library to the capitol to Vermenia, desperate for their reunion. And, on his own for the first time in years, Callum must tread carefully back into the waters of war he’s spent decades avoiding.

Can they fight through the people and the miles standing between them and return safely together again?

Kathryn Moon is a country mouse who started dictating stories to her mother at an early age. The fascination with building new worlds and discovering the lives of the characters who grew in her head never faltered, and she graduated college with a fiction writing degree. She loves writing women were are strong in their vulnerability, romances that are as affectionate as they are challenging, and worlds that a reader sinks into and never wants to leave. When her hands aren't busy typing they're probably knitting sweaters or crimping pie crust in Ohio. She definitely believes in magic.

this book was a clear step up from book one, purely evidenced by the fact that i didn't skim read over boring plot to get to the smut!! at first i was confused why the series was taking the turn it did, but i ended up appreciating the action and the characters' smart thinking. joanna is fun to read about because she doesn't come off as the typical romance vehicle who moves from plot point to plot point in between scenes where she gets railed. she was a whole lot less annoying than in book one, and i began to appreciate her personality and magic a lot more in this one.

also..... kathryn moon's writing is unparalleled. i have read SO much smut that sometimes it can come off as repetitive, but kathryn manages to write scenes with fresh description and emotion that feels so unique. which is a huge compliment from me.

as i write this i'm already 50% into the next installment. after not expecting to continue with this series, this volume was a nice surprise!

This was sooo good!! The plot had me engaged the whole time and I was on the edge of my seat for a while there!! I have really grown fond of this coven, I had a blast with this book! My favorite character is actually their friend Bryce! So mysterious and intriguing but also protective of Joanna!! I can’t wait to read more of this series!

The good:
-Enjoyable worldbuilding
-great inter-character dynamics
-sex is well done

The bad:
-Grammar errors. Tense issues and a consistent misuse of 'I' for 'me'. So consistent, I feel a copy editor must have incorrectly 'corrected' almost all instances of 'me' to 'I'. I've seen this same mistake in other works by this author. This probably will not depreciate most people's enjoyment of the novel. It's jarring to me, though. 1pt off.

-Large Plothole. Joanna's powers haven't been given a real set of limitations. Given that, it makes no sense that she wouldn't attempt use them to solve any issue that comes her way. Yet the first response of this character carrying almost deus ex machina power isn't to use her power. No explaination why she wouldn't use her power is given and previously known applications of her power which could fix her problems are ignored.

The author has already shown in the first book that the heroine can create portals to any person simply by writing. It's referenced again in this book. Yet a large portion of the book is taken up with covert travel, sneaking about, and escaping on foot in the process of saving one of the heroes. No point is made as to why she wouldn't simply portal to him; it's as if this power is now forgotten about. Logic is skipped in favor of forwarding the plot and filling pages. 2pts off.

I do enjoy the unique world building. The author is good at conveying emotion and an interesting story. Also, wow, is she good at writing sex scenes. But the bad points made this book frustrating for me. If even one or two sentences had been given to why the heroine wouldn't or couldn't use her powers I would have gone along with the story. As it is, the whole thing left a 'meh' taste in my mouth.

They say the second book in a series is the most difficult for an author to write, but kathryn made it look easy not only with getting it out so fast but also for writing a hot diggity dog of a story .......no no no.... don't you dare touch this book it's .......

lol but seriously, I really enjoyed this book, I loved the alternating perspectives which made it different from the first book and fast making it one of my most favourite RH series.
What I found great was that I can clearly see a future for this series not to mention ...SPIN OFFS hint hint Kathryn ....Sabine York has to have a series not to mention a HEA and what about Gwendolyn and her dragon sigh...
And for those of us that have standards ... yes there is smutterings of smut as it should be with any quality read ... that isn't for a 12 year old lol

Kathryn Moon has done it again! In her second book in The Librarian's Coven series, readers journey with Joanna and her men beyond the borders of their small town where the foursome must face a number of unexpected obstacles that will test the ties that bind them. Callum's past comes back to haunt him in the forms of his father and the next war that could potentially be brewing between countries. Amidst power plays and old grudges, new faces are introduced, old friends offer help, and families come together to stand against greed and corruption. And yes, you will love the sex scenes, too. You won't be disappointed with Warriors.

Surprising amount of plot in this one. Not necessarily well-written plot, though. 😂😂

Review copy kindly provided by the author in exchange for a honest review

I don’t have an anticipated list per say since I usually read by mood and what catches my eyes. However if I did have anticipated list , Warriors would have been on it. There was something about Moon’s debut Written that captivated me. She hit the mark beautifully and I liked the older group of characters that made up the harem. It was refreshing different reverse harem and like having a group of characters who are older and wiser.
Though Joanna didn’t realise herself worth at first. I like the new improved woman we returned to . As there was no boundaries and after the first book. I knew that it was going to be an intriguing second book. Moon had set up the events and whilst it was easy to form an idea of this book, don’t rest on that idea.
Moon took that idea and created a book that expands deeper then you could ever imagined. Whilst the political angle was something hinted, the way Moon explored it will surprise you . There quite an adventure involved just thanks to whispers. It may seem that it’s Callum is the driving force given how much of his own story is explored in this book and the way things happened leading up to the beginning of this book.
Moon breaks the plot into a few directions and reveals some interesting information that brings even more richness to this world and the series. Information which comes quite in hand given the direction this story takes and obstacles that Moon throws at the group. The coven may be in their honeymoon phase but the events in this book will definitely test them and make you wonder what next.
This book doesn’t suffer second book syndrome at all. If you loved the first book, Warriors will be a delight to you thought in a whole different way. It brings the past and present together well and leaves on a note that will poss many questions in the coming days whilst we wait for the third book in this series.

I have an issue with every magic system that establishes rules and then doesn't use them because it would solve problems too fast. With the power to write ANYTHING(?) into existence, everyone just seems to forget that she has that ability. All the time.

I like the unusual plot but I have questions.

1. For people who could travel by creating magical doors, the coven spent a lot of time travelling by conventional means, especially long-distance. Why couldn't Joanna just create a door to wherever Callum was?

2. Joanna says Callum's tattoo was not specific, but writing "untouchable" on her skin using crayon wasn't exactly specific, either. And crayon on skin... I don't think that really sticks the way paint or ink does...

3. If she knew the people in the camp might not sleep long enough, why didn't she write "sleep for two hours" or something? She's the one that says it's important to be specific, yet she herself doesn't do it!

4. What actually was the point of keeping Callum alive? The guy was gonna kill him anyway once the war started. His capture was used to prod Callum's father to start a war, but for all they knew, Callum could be dead already anyway, so I didn't see why it made a difference that he die later instead of dying immediately.

Apart from the questions, I'm disappointed that this is the second book and it seems like Aiden and Isaac's magic doesn't actually do anything useful? We never see them using it. Joanna is the one who is always using magic and Callum sometimes casts spells, but the other two seem pretty superfluous and useless in this story so far. Aiden's political connections made him a little important but they didn't contribute to saving the day.

Also I was kinda annoyed that in a dangerous situation where time is of the essence and they could be discovered by the enemy at any moment, Callum and Joanna take the time to embrace and kiss! Hello where is the sense of urgency? It was so TSTL and this is exactly what I hate to see in romance novels.

Lastly, I thought that Callum's father boasting about having a Scribe in the family was kinda dumb for a high-ranking and highly decorated military guy to do, especially as he was mouthing off to the Vermenian ambassador. I was fully expecting Joanna to get kidnapped as a result; you flaunt this powerful and rare magic gift in front of people, surely the enemy would want to get hold of her and make use of her powers. That was not a strategic move that a highly decorated general would make. In a war, you should keep an asset like a Scribe very close to your chest, especially as Scribes are rare. I felt like it was totally out of character for him to do that.

I was so excited to read the continuation of "Written" and book 2 did not disappoint! I'm quickly becoming a Kathryn Moon fan. She has a way with words and storytelling that pulls you in.

Joanna and her men just want to enjoy their new coven, but the past and the politics of war threaten to separate them. I found myself emotionally invested in the characters and their struggles, cheering on their victories and sniffing back tears during the difficult moments. While the book ends on a happy-for-now moment, readers are left with the knowledge that a greater challenge is on the horizon. I am looking forward to seeing how Joanna and her men continue to bond and grow as they face whatever comes next in book 3.

A lot better than the first one. I liked Johanna’s character development in this book. She stopped being the helpless little librarian into becoming more confident in herself and her cover. I also liked the different perspectives between the members of the coven, which was something that in the last book we didn’t have a lot of. The different details about the world, the politics, and the war were really interesting and made me a lot more curious about what will happen in book 3

Awesome book full of magic, romance and a daring rescue!
In this book Joanna has gained some confidence in her relationships with her coven and in her scribe abilities. We get to find out more about her mother's background and meet some new characters. Callum has to face his father and unexpected consequences from his past. It was a great adventure and I cannot wait to see what happens in book 3!

Daring adventures, intrigue, and romance.

4.8/5.0

More to come in a full review, but this book was fantastic. It focuses more on the FL (Joanna) and one of the ML (Callum), but he entire coven plays a part. We learn more about characters history, there’s additional world building which is done very well, and the story is well paced.

I have the last two books on my Kindle but I might need to buy all 4 in trade back for my bookshelf.

More to come,
MC

Good, felt like a filler book- I liked diving into Callum and his life but I got a little bored and skimmed for a bit.

I LOVE this series! So much! I’ve been waiting for this book and when I received the notification, I sat down and read this whole book in one sitting. No one was about to disturb me when I’m reading this! It was amazing. I really love this world of magic! It’s great! I couldn’t be happier with how this book played out. I will be doing a re-read of the first book because I think I missed some points that were brought up in this book but I couldn’t remember them from the first book. So I will gladly be doing a re-read of the first book and the second book. I can’t wait for the next book! It’s shaping up to be quite a book!

This is such a good series! Thank you so much Kathryn Moon! If you are a lover of magic and RH then I would recommend you purchase this series today!

I received an ARC of this book to review.

Overall: 5/5

3⭐️’s - Can’t lie… I’m being generous on my rating. Or I’m in a mood. Either way, I starting zoning out in big chunks of this book which doesn’t bode well. I might revisit this series later, but not for a bit. I think it’s because things seem to move so slowly in the plot, yet somehow the sexy bits are so fast you can barely recognize someone got naked. Kinda annoying. (9-27-22)

2/18/23 update- 3.75-4⭐️’s - I’d have to give this a higher rating. I think I came off a better series when rating this the last time. Or the opposite. I find this intriguing enough to get the 3rd of this series on Audible.

Gorgeous book, lots of magic and full on adventure. This series has great characters, with well developed plots and I love seeing the coven build their relationship. They are all so much in love, with the magical elements seamlessly wound into an interesting adventure. What I loved most about this author is how she shows the reader the genuine love between the men and the heroine during their every day lives. This author got it right for me, this is an adult love story and a wonderful change from the teenage focus in so many 'why choose' series. Loved it.

Oh man, I spent most of the time reading while sitting on the edge of my seat with bouncing legs. This book was as good as the first one. I gobbled it up in one sitting. And can I just say that I really dislike Callums father. What a cold hearted doochcanoo.

I can't wait for book three to come out. I love this series and the authors other books.

Leaps and bounds better than the first book, this builds well off of small things that were established in the first. The main character is also a lot better now that she has been given a personality, though still not as much of one as other leads in the Kathryn Moon books I've read. I'm now looking forward to the next one!

Oh man. The second book of the Librarian's Coven is just as good as the first. The main characters are learning how to live with each other and enjoying their lives when disaster strikes. The world building is delicate and intricate and just leaves you wanting more.
