The Coven's adventures in Vermenia created a ripple they could not predict long after Joanna and her men returned safely home to Canderfey. The university now has visitors: the hidden Scrivens community, refugees running from their own goverment. While Joanna is thrilled to see her family again and learn more about her magic and the history of the Scrivens, others are less enthusiastic at the newcomers' arrival.

Canderfey University's President is resistant to the changes taking place on his campus. Soon it appears as if he has reason to be, with mysterious incidents damaging the Scrivens' reputations. Joanna will fight against anyone to keep her family and the other innocent members of the community safe from suspicion and hatred, but tensions rise even within the coven as Aiden seeks to keep peace between all parties. Can he hold his coven together or are the fractures he senses growing too deep to repair?

Scrivens is book 3 of The Librarian's Coven series and contains mature content.

Kathryn Moon is a country mouse who started dictating stories to her mother at an early age. The fascination with building new worlds and discovering the lives of the characters who grew in her head never faltered, and she graduated college with a fiction writing degree. She loves writing women were are strong in their vulnerability, romances that are as affectionate as they are challenging, and worlds that a reader sinks into and never wants to leave. When her hands aren't busy typing they're probably knitting sweaters or crimping pie crust in Ohio. She definitely believes in magic.

book two is definitely where this series peaked. this one brought in a lot of world building/politics and had me skim reading a bit, not gonna lie. book four i basically just skipped my way through so i'm not even going to bother marking it as read but yeah this series is meh, i'd focus on her newer stuff

oh my gosh this installment had some conflicts that gave me some visceral reactions.

THE OTHER WOMAN DRAMA. THE MISCOMMUNICATION. MY LORDY.

But there's also a spanking scene and lots of smutty time and magical developments that tickled my fancy.

When we were introduced to the forest cages in book one, I knew they'd play a part in the later books but I'm still shook haha.

This pacing was a bit more slow in my opinion. The main coven is still strengthening their relationship throughout the story which is nice, but I was struggling to feel invested with what was happening.

On to the finale of the series, I go!

I love this series so much, I love that the characters are older and more mature than most romance heroes/heroines. I love the world, and how rich and detailed the author has built it. This book in particular has been incredible. I loved the struggles in the relationship between Joanna and Aiden, it felt very realistic and true to the characters. The conflict of the book was interesting and I liked them going up against the bigoted university president. The book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I’m excited to see what happens next.

If you guys haven’t start reading The Librarian's Coven Series yet what are you waiting for because this series keeps getting better and better. Kathryn Moon nailed book 3 Scrivens. It had me on the edge of my seat. I wanted to yell and throw my tablet while reading it was that amazing. I cannot wait for the next book to come out.

When this series was recommended to me I had no idea what to expect exactly. The blurb on the first book really doesn't do the series justice, but I think it's quite impossible to say in a few words what's so special and different about this series. But, as you know me by now, I'm gonna see what I can do in this review.

One of the first things that makes this series so special is the fact that it's fully character driven. Yes, there are a lot of things happening, but the focus is on the effect all those things have on the characters. In the first book Joanna was the focus of attention, in the second book Callum and in this book it's Aiden. It's wonderful to see them struggle, to get to know their weaknesses and strengths, to see them grow and to see them learn something very valuable.

The second thing that makes this series unique is the bond and love between the four main characters in the coven. So far I've usually been reading Reverse Harem where the main focus is on the girl. In this story the romance is a complete OT4. Everyone loves everyone, helps everyone, supports everyone and it's a true relationship between four people. The dynamic within the group is wonderful and emotional. How they solve their struggles, how they work their way through hard times and how in the end they always find a way out of it.

And then there is also the plot and the writing style. The plot serves the characters and their development, but that doesn't mean it's not that interesting or complicated. On the contrary. This story dealt with quite a few very real issues in a unique way. And it does so in a wonderful and beautiful writing style that really brings the emotions across.

I'm very sad that I only have one more book in this series left to read and at the same time I'm looking forward to next week when I'll be reading it.

This is another amazing book, and I am on tenterhooks for the next installment! Kathryn Moon picks up where we left off in book two, and we see many familiar faces (in addition to our favorite covens) but are also introduced to new characters early on in the novel.

Joanna and her coven must contend not only with political machinations regarding Scrivens and outside unforeseen dangers lurking nearby but also personal struggles that threaten their happiness and the stability of their bonds.

Tensions are high among many of the people of Canderfey when Vermenians - many of whom are Scrivens - move in to town. Joanna’s power is still relatively new to her, and she is excited to have the chance to help her family and other Scrivens explore the possibilities of the magic and learn more about its limits. But as with everything, any magic can be used for both good and bad, and when things in town start taking turns for the worse and unexplained incidents occur, fingers begin pointing to these newly-settled outsiders with their unique kind of magic.

Kathryn Moon creates intricately layered storylines to get you hooked, unique characters with depth and with whom you quickly form rapport, and some deliciously steamy scenes that you’ll want to reread again and again as you fan yourself with your hand and wonder, “where can I sign up for that?!”

Scrivens will take you on a whirlwind of adventures, tugging your emotions around like a kite in a storm but one whose string you’ll hold fast to in order to find out what the heck could possibly happen next.

If you haven’t read the first two books in the series, you will need to read those first in order to fully understand and appreciate Scrivens.

Let me start with, this is an honest review of a copy provided by the author, I received nothing in return, otherwise Kathryn would do nothing else in life but write books for me.
So I finished this book last week, started writing reviews at least 3 times before I deemed them unworthy, and took around 2-3 to sort my thoughts after finishing it.
This is the third book in the Librarian's Coven series, which started with Written (Kathryn's first published and my first RH read). The first book was published almost a year ago, and several other were published between the series installments. I mention this because you can see Kathryn's evolution as a writter if you only read TLC books. Also, and this is something not authors are capable of, each book has it's own world and the writting reflects that. Different paces, different feelings come from the pages but all with that Kathryn Moon touch that draws you in.
One day I'll be able to own hardcover copies of all her books and expose them on my shelfs as works of art. That's what the books are, from cover to content.
Now on to the actual book thoughts.
This is not a book you can read to "turn your brain off", all of Kathryn's books will put your brain in overdrive.
By now we have all the main characters stabilished, but this series is not a dull one that has several books revolving around relationship drama. Actually in this book while there is some relationship drama, not unfounded and so well explained and understandable it makes me ache for Aiden and Joanna and shows how a lack of communication can affect every aspect in life, you almost forget this is labeled as a romance. So if your focus is on steamy scenes and romance driven plot, try another book, this one is about life and magic and, in a way, prejudice and fear.
Actually, the whole plot of this book is about prejudice and fear and politics. Even better, how those things apply in an University that should encourage difference and acquisition of knowledge instead of judging what you do not know.
The Scrivens, including Joanna's newfound family, are coming. Fleeing from a country without other kinds of magic, where they are persecuted by those in power that don't abide by their magical abilities. Looking for a place where they are more accepted, and can learn more about their gift and start using their magic.
Too bad prejudice against the unknown and outsiders is something inherently human, and not all have the wherewithal to deal with it in a healthy way, leading to them spreading fear in an unconsequential way.
We learn more about the fears of our beloved coven, which shines a better light on their actions and personalities.
We meet the Hollow's sibilings. And understand better who they are and how their magic works.
Best of all, we get to see Bryce's shifter form, and learn a bit more about their origin and who exactly they are.
The bad part? It ends in a somewhat cliffhanger, a hook to the next book. This is not to say the mystery and plot of the book were not resolved, it's just that all of Kathryn's books leave you a little bereft after you finish them.
From an artistic point of view, this series would read amazingly well in a graphic novel format, or even if adapted as an animated series for tv. Amazon Prime I'm looking at you.
Waiting anxiously for my next Kathryn Moon fix.

I love this series so much!

As per usual Joanna attracts trouble like flies to honey. Her compassion never changes, always jumping into the fray to protect those she deems worthy (and even those that aren't). This book centers mostly around Joanna & Aiden's perspectives. While disappointed not to hear too much from Callum & Isaac I actually liked it. I loved really getting to know Aiden just like we had the chance to understand Callum in the last book. As always Kathryn Moon delivers all of the emotions - I smiled, laughed, bit my nails & teared up. I can't stress enough how much I just really, really love the relationships within Joanna's coven. And it certainly doesn't disappoint in this book - the love they genuinely share for each other, how the care for one another & work through their problems, the honest friendship they share truly shines through the pages. This book certainly ends on more of a cliffhanger than the previous books in the series so now it's time to anxiously await the next one. Don't let this deter you from reading this amazing story though...

This is the 3rd book in the Librarian's Coven series and we are back with Joanna and her coven. This book starts off right off with the Scribes from Vermenia about to arrive in town and not everyone is going to be as welcoming as Joanna is hoping they will be. The President of the college has some sort if agenda but what is it?.. The Mayor seems to want to support the Scribes but is walking the political line. We than trow in unexpected, unwelcomed visitors from before and we have a dangerous situation for not just the coven. But there is also time taken to build the bonds of the coven closer together. Be sure to read the first two books in the series and than jump in and find out what happens next. I did receive and ARC for my

The coven instigated actions that caused a cultural shift with no simple way of integrating the scribes successfully. Their town has had their trust damaged maybe even broken as a result. Their coven suffered as did others, and they all became unsure about their ability to stay together. So many issues in this book, at least the evil person was obvious. The break in the coven was real and will take time to recover completely, so I can't wait for the next book.

Book three

Joanna and her coven are back again shortly after we left off in book two. The Scrivens are on their way and the coven is at the center of everything that is happening.
I saw one review rate it a 2 * because it had a cliffhanger. It does, somewhat. I would consider it the set up for book four rather than a true cliffhanger. The book plot was resolved in this book, and at the end a new force enters the picture giving us the idea of what to expect for the next book. It's what most series do, except for police procedurals and the like. Even those have them at times.
As for the rest of the book, I thought it was a coherent plotline and the characters grew some. The relationships are being worked on, which lends some realism to the fantasy world. There's no "I see you, I love you, everything is wonderful" here. A relationship has ups and downs and it's work. That is reflected here with Aiden and Joanna. There are a few subplots running through, her family, getting the scrivens settled, some other things I cant say without spoiling things. I felt the characters stayed true to their previous selves.
Overall, I would recommend, but you'll need to read the first two if you haven't already.

This is 3rd book in this librarians coven series and it is heavier and darker but also in a way more real. We not only have Joanna trying to continue to learn more about her own brand of magic with the help of the previously secret scrivens, but we also see her trying to learn her place within her coven. I love that it isnt all sunshine and roses - as any relationship there are always issues and trials that we face and I can imagine even more so when you have to navigate and balance 4 people together and individually.
Of course there is magic abound that is evil and wreaking havoc amongst the campus and our coven mates .... our fave quartet and their friends & family need to figure it out before it pulls them apart and creates rifts too big to recover from!

There is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end of the book ( which I didn’t expect so offer you the warning) but it makes me anxious to see how this will all play out , because while some of our questions were answered many have not....

So much action and intrigue. These books just get better.
The Scrivens Magic’s is so intriguing and different and they are still learning the limits and all that can be done with it, also that as other kinds of magic they too have more powerful individuals.
It was great to see the insecurity that all the members was suffering through, because just like in real life nothing is perfect all the time.
This one ended in a kind of cliffhanger, so I will be waiting for the resolution.

So good!

This time Joanna and her men might be torn apart not by outside forces but by jealousy, insecurity, and doubt. Joanna's newly discovered relatives and other refugees have come to stay at the university town, but despite Joanna's optimism and hope, their arrival is not smooth or easy. With a mystery figure trying to frame the newcomers, tensions building in the coven, and an evil unlocked, readers will be biting their nails until the final page.

The Power of Words!

Oh, what an amazing journey we are being lead on! FMC Joanna is passionate, stubborn and very talented. Along with her coven she has some incredible adventures but when things go wrong in their world, they really go wrong. Everything can be fixed with the right words.... right? A real page turner, as I have now come to expect from Kathryn Moon. Recommend!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Kathryn Moon knocks it out of the park again! I love this story and these characters and this book was all about growth between them. A lot of romance novels just have everything perfect and it’s unrealistic and can get boring. Aiden and Joanna have some major growing pains and even see what life would be like without each other. I love that it was uncomfortable and they had to work to figure things out. It made them so much more relatable!

My only complaint is that I feel like the story abruptly ended and I still wanted (read: needed) to know what happens with the Scrivens and the ancients. Can’t wait for the next installment!

Out of the three books so far in the Librarians Coven series, I have to say this one was my favorite. I love how the author switched things up and took things slightly darker.

Of course the work is flawless as it always is. The storyline grips you immediately and keeps you playing the guess who game throughout the book.

This is a must read series, the main characters are yummy and the secondary ones have me begging for side stories!

I was SO very disappointed with this book. It was very well-written, just like the previous books. However, the passion felt forced and like an afterthought. The author focused mainly on the inner thoughts of the coven. I feel like all the other books were sensual and planned out to include very steamy lovemaking. Everything in this book including the bad guy was obvious - and the whole jealousy plot line, bleh. In fact, lets discuss the jealousy, it happens in all relationships and in this case it was understandable, however, inconsistent. One minute there was jealousy and the next the bond was stronger than ever and then... This is a fantasy book, not a self-help journal. Again, storyline felt like it meandered and then some sex and rife were thrown in for the heck of it. I loved the previous two books and I was looking forward to this book. It felt like a bad draft and should be done over.

This series is fantastic, 4.5 ⭐️

In this 3rd book of Kathryn Moon’s Librarian’s Coven series, we get to see what happens to a coven when there is internal tension (with some outside influences that make it much worse). It wasn’t my favorite of the series but I thought it did a great job moving the plot along and adding more awesome characters to this spectacular world.

Kathryn Moon does a great job at making you fall for characters and really root for them. In Scrivens, our favorite coven has to deal with helping get the immigrants settled in and protecting them against prejudices by those at Candefay. I really enjoyed some of the new side characters: the adorable child who makes a new friend *wink wink* and Joanna’s family. I definitely wanted to punch a certain young adult woman in the face for how she tried to destroy the coven bond, but I think she redeemed herself a bit at the end. I liked the adaption of the words with pictures and the different mediums used to write. I did think there was come repetitiveness in the storyline with the jealously and lack of communication that made it not hold my attention 100% of the time, but I still think it was a great 3rd book in this 4 book series. No dont get me wrong, I love Callum the most out of the 3 men, but I thought he got way too much Joanna time in this book. I definitely felt like Isaac got the shaft and when Aiden finally got over his hang ups, they had an steamy make up hahaha. The steam/sex scenes were amazing in this one, especially with the M/M element!! I loved Callum taking charge, so freaking hot haha.

The narration was on point yet again! I love this combination of Sienna and Cornell. I usually am not a fan of narrators doing British accents because a lot of the time they mess it up or it sounds strained. I did not think that at all with this series. Amazing job yet again! I will definitely add these narrators on my 5 star list! I thought their take on this one really added to the story, especially when the Ancients took the stage. The voices and feelings were amazing.

Definitely continuing to recommend this series. I also want more Bryce and his coven, which I know will happen since I started book 4 right after finishing book 3 on audio ❤️❤️❤️

A little confusing in places

As you may have guessed from the previous reviews of the books in this series, I love it. I was all set to slap down another 5 star review after reading this one and I just can’t. There is so much love in this book. There is the interaction of the coven members and their complicated relationships, and their very hot sex. There is the intrigue of the Scrivens coming to the university to escape persecution in their homeland and there is mysterious magic occupancies on campus. However, there is a big chunk in the middle where I was left scratching my head. I was just plain confused. It sorted itself out later on, but it just broke things for me. The normal flow of this author’s work was abruptly stopped and started again and it threw me for a while. It took another couple of chapters for me to forget I was annoyed with the writing.

I think because I loved the other books so much, it was a much bigger disappointment than if this was the first book by a new author. I would be happy to write a four star review for a new author, but it’s a let down to write one for an author you really like.

As this is an ongoing series, I’m hoping that the next book will bring the normal excellent standard of writing back, but it in the meantime it’s left me a little disappointed and frustrated with the cliffhanger. I want Kathryn Moon to fix it!

Joanna and her coven are back in Canderfey helping the Scriven immigrants to adjust to their new circumstances. Their magic is mostly unknown here, so Joanna must advance her own learning as she works with the new people. There's some tension between the new people and the older residents of the town. There's also more personal trouble when a young Scriven sets her sights on Isaac, not understanding the relationships in the coven. Aiden is struggling with his protective nature, especially as Joanna and Callum seem to have developed a closer relationship after the events of the previous book.
There's a lot going on in this book and it ends on a cliffhanger, not like the first two which can be considered standalone (though why one wouldn't want to read more about these great characters, I don't know). There's also a lot of character development which is awesome since I love all these characters and how they interact. The magic system is always interesting, and I like how it's used. I can't wait for the next book.

Excellent addition to the series

I really enjoyed this book. Each book has alternating POVs, with Joanna and one of her Coven mates taking the main POVs. Book 2 was focused on Callum, and this one on Aiden. Each man has a different challenge to work through in adjusting to the coven, and Joanna has to work to get beyond her feelings and fall in love with each of her coven mates.

There were plenty of smexy times, some M/F but the majority is MMMF or M/M. The book isn’t “Joanna and the three stereotypes standing for characters;” each of the MMCs is an important and unique character, who carries his own weight and changes and grows throughout the series.

It’s well-written with only a few typos (missing words, but not ones that hinder understanding), and just a few grammar issues (then vs than, off the top of my head), but otherwise well-written characters and wonderfully realized world building. Definitely reading the next one!

Joanna REALLY annoyed the heart and soul out of me in this one. Like I absolutely understood that she was advocating for the Scrivens and that's why she was so combative with Aiden but man, she really doesn't communicate well, I mean neither did Aiden but I felt like she was trying to make him feel like shit. If you loved him then sit him down and have a grown up conversation. I do feel like he was explaining to her why he needed to agree to restrictions but she was just getting angry. The book OPENS with them having an argument. I don't mind a bit of conflict but I felt like this had too much.

Not even going to go into that silly bint who wrote a love spell for Isaac. The audacity and also maybe we can spend some time dealing with his trauma as a group?! Bloody hell!

I kind of don't want to read the next book because I didn't like Joanna in this soooo much but I probably will. I'd much prefer a book about Gwen's coven instead though.
