I cried so much while I read this book. And I couldn’t stop reading it. The emotional journey Whiskey (Liam) and Samantha go through will tear your heart out. How do you comeback to a life that you thought was gone forever? Whiskey’s trauma was for years. Samantha thought he was dead and she had to pull herself together to care for their child. Cassie Colton’s writing style will bring you into the character’s inner thoughts and feelings. I love the details she creates. You can tell she is familiar with military life. I could not put this book down. And I know you will enjoy it too.
Liam “whiskey” O'Neil is not the man that Samantha O’Neil once knew when she discovers he is alive. Samantha wants to run to his arms and love him but Whiskey has massive PTSD from what he went through. Samantha tries everything that is recommended to her to do to not only help herself but Liam’s and Samantha son LJ. Does Whiskey discover who he is? Does Samantha break and run to another man’s arms? Does Whiskey make a decision and regret it? Does Whiskey fight for the love of his life?
This book will pull at all your heart strings. This book is one of my favorites and I highly recommend it. This book doesn’t require you to read the others prior but if you want a better picture on all the characters I definitely recommend. Author Cassie Colton is a phenomenal writer and I just can’t wait for the next one to come out.
Securing Samantha is the fifth book in the series. Samantha and Liam/ Whiskey's story grabs your heart from the start and takes you on an emotional journey as they find their way back to each other.
Liam was part of the SEAL's team who was thought to be dead on a previous mission, leaving Samantha alone to raise their son. Years later, Leo and the team found and brought back him back, but he was not the same.
Samanatha stumble upon Liam while she was helping at the hospital. Shocked and confused, especially when she could not understand why she was not told before.
Their story rips your heart to shreds, as Liam and Samanatha fight to understand the new people they have become and work to find their way back to each other.

This was such a great story that totally tugs at the heart strings.
With her dead husband, back alive but in very bad condition, Samantha is bombarded with secrets and lies that she needs to navigate about Whiskey.
Whiskey is in such poor condition that he doesn't want to see his wife and child. Both he and Samantha have a whole journey of self discovery to get through before that can even work at a relationship. Little LJ was a great addition to the story and added depth to both relationships.
Very well written with such a great cast of characters and a very moving plot that bring out emotion and feelings. Also loved that team spirit as all the guys have their support readily.
I think I fall in love with each new story in this series even more than the last. Samantha and Whiskey's story is one that you will want to have tissues for. This book will give you all the feels! Samantha gets the shock of her life when she finds out that her husband who she thought was dead is alive. Whiskey is struggling with PTSD and not feeling like he is man enough to be what his wife and son need. This book is their journey of finding themselves and finding their way back to each other. Whiskey wants to be the flame that ignites his sunshine again! Love their story soooo much!!!!
Quote: "I'm your sunshine but I only burn bright because of you. You'll always be the flame that ignites me."
I admit I didn’t realise you needed to read 4 other books to understand this one. If you haven’t read the others then the first several chapters are too confusing with hints to the past that will not make sense. However it would have made a better story if Whiskeys rescue had been the start of the story. Also Samantha discovering he was alive was not written well enough to understand what was going on. Only when you get into the middle of the book does it start to flow,
Samantha thought her husband died in a mission, but she was surprised to find him in a cabin. She couldn’t believe her eyes. Whiskey was tortured badly and now he is just a man with severe issues. This story is emotional; the characters' raw feelings will bring your eyes to tears. I loved the sense of family of all the characters and how they help and care for each other. It's a great story that if you decide to read, make sure to have a whole box of tissues at hand. I highly recommend this series. I LOVE this story!! My favorite in this series so far. Whiskey is struggling with the feeling that he isn’t enough for Samantha and LJ. His PTSD has impacted his recovery. It’s heartbreaking to follow Whiskey as he confronts his past and rediscovers that love is worth fighting for…his Sunshine is worth fighting for! This book sends you through so many emotions; you’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll fall in love with Whiskey and Samantha’s love story!
Book 5 of The Serenity Mountain Series is my favorite of this series so far. What should be a unbelievable second chance when Samanthas husband returns from the dead! Battling PTSD Liam doesn't feel its safe to reunite with his family. I was unable to put it down!!!.

I enjoyed this book 📕 It was a sad read because Samantha O’Neil’s husband Liam “ Whiskey” O’Neil was killed in the military field and she was pregnant with their baby. But her world was turned upside down when she discovers that he is alive after three years of believing he wasn’t coming back. And he didn’t want to reconnect with her or their son LJ. But Whiskey is battling with PTSD and a profound sense of loss. And he fears he can’t be what his family needs. And he almost lost her to another man but at the end they get back together and Samantha and Whiskey live a happy life together with their son LJ.
This was a sad story. I felt Samantha should of had more compassion and understanding for her husband, after all he lived through while he was captured for 3 years. They had a long road but finally made it. HEA.
I have loved all the stories and friendships and love of family in this series but this book of whiskey and Samantha battling memories and hurts from war and love is by far my favorite if I could give it more than 5 stars I would.
A good read from Cassie Colton. Delving into the topic of PTSD and doing a good job as far as I’m concerned. Hope to see what is in store for the team next.
I'm so glad I persevered, Whiskey and Samantha's story is emotional and suspenseful. The only reason is that it's not 5 stars, Cassie Cole really needs better editors as the spelling mistakes, repeat lines, etc, get annoying!
This is the 5th book in The Serenity Mountain Series, and my favorite of them all. You need to read books 1-3 in order, it helps immensely to read 4 and 5 in order, but you can fill in most of the basic plot without.
While reading books 1-4, I wondered more about Samantha. She was so automatically caring and giving, that I knew I wanted to know more (even more, even before I knew she had a book). LJ is so adorable and I just ache for Whiskey.
I am not familiar with being a widow or a military spouse, but as someone looking in, I thought this book was very tasteful and brought awareness to some points of PTSD that I was not aware of. I thought it was handled well and really spoke to the need for support and timing for everything to come to fruition.

Oh my heart!! You’ll need tissues as read Whiskey and Samantha’s story. Whiskey is believed dead but years later is found alive. He’s a shell of the man he used to be. He believes Samantha and their son LJ would be better off without him. This book has all the feelings you could possibly want. Sunshine will always find her flame.
