I’m getting married tomorrow. But someone has taken my daughter…
I first start worrying about my beautiful daughter Lennie when she claims her imaginary friend told her not to trust me or her father, Nathan. And as she retreats further into her own world and pushes us away, it feels like we are losing our little girl. Then one evening I see a shadowy figure in Lennie’s bedroom window, and I begin to worry her friend isn’t imaginary at all…
Nathan insists it’s all in my head, but now my worst nightmare has come true. Lennie has been kidnapped just before our rehearsal dinner, in her adorable bridesmaid’s dress. And I think I know who did it…
Years ago, I brought another woman’s perfect life crashing down around her. I was trying to protect someone I loved, but I had no idea how out of control it would get, or how deadly. Has she come back to punish me? And how far will she go for revenge?
But when I see a message on Nathan’s phone asking about Lennie, I realise I might have got it all wrong. Was my daughter taken by someone close to home, someone I thought I could trust?

Really solid second book 3.5✨ rounded up (come on Goodreads let us do half stars — PLEASE)
Not as twisty as the first book but a really pleasant read with enough twists and turns to keep it interesting and leaving the door open for a third book!
This is book #2 in the Broken Vows series and it’s 6 years later with Lennie now being a new 6 year old in this story. She has her own chapters and she has a mind of her own with an imaginary friend. This pulled me in from page 1 and I couldn’t put it down. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this early release which releases June 13, 2024.
Six/seven years after the end of book one, Nathan is once again planning to get married, this time to Hannah, who we knew was pregnant with his child at the end of the first book.
I loved that this book was partly narrated by their daughter, Lennie, now six years old, as that is something we don’t often experience with a psychological thriller and so that is something that definitely set this book apart from others in the genre. Lennie has an imaginary friend, Whisper, who becomes real in this book and if you have read book one, you will have a very good idea of who Whisper really is! Whisper knows everything about Lennie and is the only person Lennie feels she can really trust, because guardian angels don’t lie… do they?
The story is also narrated by Hannah, who in the lead up to her wedding is feeling unwell and worries about Nathan’s distant behaviour towards her. They vowed to keep what they did secret, but is it all going to spill out?
There were some fabulous twists in this book, especially right at the end, when the full truth about Whisper comes out. I was gobsmacked! And it seems there may be more to come, because that last jaw dropping reveal in the epilogue was epic!
5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, L. G. Davis and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.
Firstly, I would recommend reading book one first - "The Woman at my Wedding" - as it really sets the backstory for this one, though each one is a standalone in its own right. It takes place seven years after the first one and is just as fast paced and twisted.
We reunite with Hannah and Nathan as they plan their upcoming wedding, with a real sense of deja vu. The difference being Lennie who has a huge imagination and often loses herself to her own little world and land of make believe. She even has a voice as she provides her own narrative in her own chapters as we see the world through Lennie's eyes. I must admit, her perspective sometimes seems a little advanced for a 6 year old but then it's been a long time since I was that age so it is hard to remember.
Lennie introduces us to her own imaginary friend who she calls Whisper and together they embark on many magical adventures together. Beginning off as imaginary, Whisper soon becomes real visible only to Lennie and if you have read book one you will have a pretty good idea who Whisper really is! She knows everything about Lennie and is the only friend the little girl feels she can trust as things begin to erupt at home.
But before long, Hannah and Nathan begin to ponder the wisdom of allowing this imaginary friend when things begin to go awry. Of course it doesn't help that Nathan has begun to grow distant from both Hannah and Lennie, snapping at them both for the slightest thing and bringing fear to their door. Soon the wedding they have waited so long for seems far beyond their reach as Hannah ponders whether marrying Nathan is really in the best interests of her daughter. While Lennie spends most of her time escaping to her treehouse into the comforting arms of her guardian angel Whisper.
I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel book with the different aspect as told by Lennie, though her chapters were clearly written by an adult. Some of her phrases and words were just too advanced for a 6 year old I felt. Especially since it was apparent throughout that she couldn't pronounce "funeral". I had trouble pronouncing her version of it though...hahaha.
Not a lot of criticism bar the fact that Nathan's abusive behaviour came out of nowhere when he showed no signs of it in the first book. It's like he was a completely different character for the most part. Granted, he has just lost his father and is struggling with the grief he feels he shouldn't have given the place his father had in his life. But while he was the epitome of love and understanding in the first book, this one he became someone different.
Then there was Elena's psychiatrist husband. Elena suggests Hannah speak to him to help deal with her stress, then Hannah encourages Nathan to seek him also...then by the end they have Lennie having therapy with him! Don't get me wrong, Lennie was in dire need of therapy after everything, but a psychiatrist cannot treat any member of a patient's family (or anyone with a close relationship) - past or present - let alone the entire family! It is a clear conflict of interest. Added to that, Lennie will have needed a therapist (not a psychiatrist) with specific training in treating children.
My last criticism is the whole "missing bridesmaid" part. While it may be the title of the book, it is very misleading because it takes up only a one hundredth percent of the story. And it came out of nowhere! The reasoning behind her "abduction" (which I term rather loosely) is just absurd. And then in a matter of a few paragraphs, all is forgiven and its water under the bridge. I'm sorry...but that part of the story was completely redundant and made absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Take that last part out and it would be a five star read because it was everything I love in a thriller - fast paced, twisted, devious and entertaining.
Others have mentioned it being set up for a third book. I'm not sure. I think just leave it where it is. Anything else would just be white noise I think. It's perfect (aside from that last point) as it is.
Another stellar read from Liz Davis!!
I would like to thank #LGDavis, #Netgalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #TheMissingBridesmaid in exchange for an honest review.
**Warning: Do NOT read this review if you haven’t read the first in the series- The Woman at my Wedding**
Another 5 star smasher for L.G Davis! The saying that “the sequel is never as good” is completely wrong for this series, I loved this second one just as much as the first book!
It’s been six years since Brynn and Nathan’s wedding day fell apart when Nathan discovered who Brynn really was and dumped her. Now Hannah is leading her dream life with Nathan, the man she has always loved and their six year old daughter, Lennie. However, the less said about how both Hannah and Nathan achieved their perfect little family the better. That’s all in the past now and Hannah and Nathan want to marry to make their little family official. The planning for the wedding is in full flow, with just two months to go until the big day when Nathan gets the news his father has died. They weren’t close due to his awful childhood, but Nathan still sinks into deep grief and Hannah and Lennie begin to not recognise the man they love anymore. Whilst Hannah desperately tries to reconnect with her husband to be, Lennie seeks solace in her tree house, which is her “safe space” and with her imaginary friend, Whisper. Whereas Hannah is still struggling to have any relationship with her future husband as he is so distant, Lennie starts pulling back from her father also. Hannah thinks it is just due to the fact that Nathan is hardly spending any time with Lennie, and she is expressing her hurt, as only a six year old child knows how, but then Lennie tells her that Whisper wants to protect her from her daddy and that he did something bad in the past to Lennie although she doesn’t remember it. Hannah is horrified by this revelation and also confused as she thought she knew Nathan inside and outside. The more Hannah tries to mend Nathan and Lennie’s relationship the more Lennie pulls back and talks about how “bad” her daddy is. Who should Hannah trust and will the wedding go ahead, or will Hannah decide she has to put her daughter first and believe what she is saying despite what the revelations will do to her and Nathan’s relationship?!
Well, I was really excited to read this one after reading the previous book and I wasn’t disappointed! Nathan was just as smarmy and off putting in this book as he was in the last, so it didn’t change my opinion on him at all. I also found it difficult to like Hannah after what she did to her so called “friend” in the last book. However, disliking these characters definitely didn’t ruin my enjoyment of this story. I found Whisper downright creepy and honestly thought the villain of the story was nothing short of diabolical and very worthy of the title of “villain”. The twists were superb, and I didn’t see them coming at all despite trying to figure them out before I was told, which is always a really good thing for someone like myself who does read a lot of psychological thrillers. This was a great and enjoyable read and it was over all too quickly. I did feel the ending may lead itself, possibly, to a third book (please please L.G Davis) but this may just be wishful thinking on my behalf.
Overall, the second book in the series was just as addictive and difficult to put down as the first, and I would highly recommend it for any lovers of the psychological thriller genre. Excellent and I can’t wait to see what L.G Davis writes next.
Thank you to NetGalley, L.G Davis and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.
This was part two of a series, and it was just as great as the first book! It had me guessing the entire time, not knowing how everything would play out. The ending was fantastic! Lots of twists and turns that I hadn't expected. I haven't been disappointed with anything that I've read by this author so far, and I can't wait to read more of hers!
At the end of the first book in this Broken Vows series, The Woman at My Wedding, Brynn’s plans went awry. Now it is several years later, and Hannah and Nathan are planning their wedding. One of their bridesmaids will be their six-year-old daughter Lennie. The circumstances that surround the relationship between Hannah and Nathan is set in place in the end of the first book in this series.
Hannah begins to realize that all that glitters is not gold. In fact, her perfect life and the idyllic future she imagines begins to crumble, and she is powerless to stop it. While the train wreck that proves to be Hannah’s life all of a sudden, there are other avenues and twists that this book takes. For one thing, the way the book begins shows readers that there is a lot to consider when it comes to young Lennie. Meanwhile, Nathan is away on an important case, but soon receives bad news that soon show the erosion of this expectedly perfect coupling between him and Hannah.
As a reader, I quite enjoyed being able to read both of the books in this series back-to-back. As an intelligent reader, there was no doubt that things could get really bad for Hannah, but boy, it was a fun ride watching things unfold. As Hannah’s life slowly unravels, young Lennie depends on and confides in her imaginary friend Whisper. Those chapters, with Lennie’s POV throughout the book, definitely increased the tension as this story unfolded, thus making this book a real nail-biter.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
Book Title: The Missing Bridesmaid Series: Broken Vows #2 Author: L. G. Davis Publisher: Bookouture Genre: Psychological Thriller Pub Date: June 18, 2024 My Rating: 4 Stars Pages 310
The first book in this series ended with the Bride Brynn left at the alter while going into anaphylaxis a severer reaction from having had peanuts given to her by Hannah-.her Bridesmaid who has been doing everything possible to prevent her marrying Nathan as she secretly has been in love with him. Nathan says he was in love with Brynn until her found out a secret about her. Then he happily goes off with Hannah. Brynn see the loving couple and swears revenge.
Now six years later Nathan and Hannah are finally getting married. They have a precocious and creative six-year old daughter (who has an imaginary friend Whisper.) Hannah waited for this day and yes she has been worried that something will go wrong.
Just prior to the wedding Nathan’s father dies which has been harder on him than he expected – now his mood had changed and the life in the happy family is going downhill!
Things certainly get interesting. Yes Lennie is Hannah’s bridesmaid and yes goes missing – She has been taken by – you guessed it!!
Lennie is no doubt the star in this story!
I always love reading the author’s mote and in this case our author has a ‘A Letter from L.G. Davis’. She tells us that in writing this story little Lennie was dear to heart – Yes! That certainly came through. She goes on to say that that breathing life into her and immersing herself into her world, especially the enchanting tree house was a delight. She goes on to say she hopes Lennie added an extra tough of magic to this story and that readers connected with her as well- Which certainly was true for me. She thanks us for joining her on her journey as states she has many many more mysteries to unravel and she wants to share with us. Yep! I’ll be there!
Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for granting me this early eGalley. Publishing Release Date scheduled for June 18, 2024.
WOW! Great follow up to the first book. I didn't have too much criticism, just three things really stand out to me:
1. A week after Nathan's father passes and he is in a bad mood, Hannah is really insistent about him being distant and not being 'normal' but I think her level of worry and confusion was uncalled-for and not very understanding. The character seems to be an understanding woman so for her to be this upset, this early on, did make me slightly dislike her. Of course, when Nathan continues the bad behavior, refuses to talk to her about, yells at Lennie, etc then of course she should be concerned but I felt the concern cam on too early.
2. Nathan showed abusive behaviors in this 2nd book. Him taking the epi-pen in the first was about as abusive as he got but I am wondering here is he? He was put on the Facebook group falsely, so we are informed in the first book, but then he is a model husband and father for years just to literally let the rage out? The breaking of things, the yelling, and the harsh judgement on Hannah, without giving her a chance to speak really seems abusive to me. I feel like this is loose end that should be addressed because I think there's something there.
3. Lennie's monologues were clearly written by an adult haha. She uses words like 'duvet' instead of blanket. I just don't think a small child who has imaginary friends would instinctively say or think words like that, especially if she can't even pronounce funeral.
Positives: - fast paced - even though I knew it was Brynn, I was still on the edge of my seat waiting for the reveal. - I really enjoyed Hannah's inner monologues. - The Gloria twist got me - I wonder if Gloria is just great at manipulation and actually was purposefully poisoning Hannah. I guess the 3rd book will reveal all!
⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Missing Bridesmaid by L.G. Davis is Book 2 in the Broken Vows series. This book can easily be read as stand-alone as there is not a massive link between the first and second book, only the same characters. I loved how the first book ended and I had completely different expectations for this book. There are some good twists at the end but the main twist is easy to guess so early. I would say this is more like a domestic thriller or family drama.
The way the first book ended does not go together with the second book timeline as no one would wait 6 years for revenge. At the end of the first book, Brynn was ready to act, she was ready to take things into her own hands... so 6 years of waiting didn't make sense. I was sad that there wasn't more about Brynn as she was an interesting character.
Nathan is ready to get married... again. His first wedding fell apart but led him to Hannah. Now they are family to their daughter Lennie and her imaginary friend Whisper. Hannah waited for this day forever and she is worried that something will go wrong. When Nathan lost his father the loss hit him harder than he expected and things started to go downhill! Can they survive all the challenges life throws at them? Who can they trust and who is the real enemy?
I liked this book but as stand-alone as this is Nathan and Hannah's story.
The second book in the Broken Vows series and it was very disappointing compared to the first. I had forgotten most of what had previously happened but I had hoped the author would remind the reader. Daniel Hurst does this perfectly by interweaving past information into the following book but unfortunately no such luck this time. We are constantly reminded that the main characters have a dark past but no further information. The constant reminder just made it worse. By 30% I had had enough so I went back and read the last chapter and epilogue of the first book but unfortunately that only provided limited information and I didn’t want to have to read the entire book again.
This was meant to be a psychological thriller but felt like more of a romance novel. The twists weren’t that shocking and kind of laughable. It was mainly lengthy and repetitive dialogue.
On the cover it has “I’m getting married tomorrow. But someone has taken my daughter” This is false advertising. Not a major part of the book.
So many times I wanted to stop reading but kept going in the hope it would pick up. Which is did almost at the end but the ending was a disappointment as it left things unresolved. Is there going to be a third book in the series? It feels like there would be. I may or may not read it. While I would like to know how it ends, I’m not looking forward to having to the entire book.
Part of my 2025 Reading Challenge: Read a book that is by a BIPOC author
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing this book, with my honest review below.
The Missing Bridesmaid was a well written book but it just didn’t really come together for me. Hannah and her soon to be husband, Nathan, share a precocious and highly creative daughter, Lennie, as well as a major past secret which remains a secret through much of the book. As their wedding grows closer Hannah experiences forgetfulness while Lennie seems to think her imaginary friend, Whisper, is telling her her dad is a bad man. While this is all good in theory, the secret being held for most of the book and then, upon being revealed, not fully explored was a bit of a letdown for me. As was the supporting and main characters being so easy to forgive and forget, which felt unrealistic. So did Lennie, who would be a joy for any parent but just felt a bit too perfect.
As mentioned this is well written but it felt we spent a lot of time with Hannah and her doubts about Nathan and not enough of the tension that was driving the plot around their shared secret. I did think the pieces with Lennie and Whisper were done well. Ultimately I just couldn’t get behind this. I’d also like to add if anyone somewhat knowingly got me injured in a plot to take down another person and took away that which I wanted most, I’d hardly forgive them in a span of an hour.
I first start worrying about my beautiful daughter Lennie when she claims her imaginary friend told her not to trust me or her father, Nathan. As she retreats further into her own world and pushes us away, it feels like we are losing our little girl. Then one evening I see a shadowy figure in Lennie's bedroom window, and I begin to worry her friend isn't imaginary at all. Nathan insists it's all in my head, but now my worst nightmare has come true. Lennie has been kidnapped just before our rehearsal dinner, in her adorable bridesmaid's dress. And I think I know who did it....
With lots of twists and turns, I couldn't wait to see where this story would end. All the same characters were in this book. This story takes place years after the first book, and it's told from Nathan and Lennie's perspectives. I did guess correctly where some parts of this story were heading. This is a quick and easy read. I liked the character development. I recommend that you read The Woman At MY Wedding first, as it builds up the scene for this book.
Published 13th June
I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #LGDavis for my ARC of #TheMissingBridesmaid in exchange for an honest review.
When I finished the previous book, I was left wondering where this all would lead to. After all it was a case of calling the kettle black...
The actions of two people also resulted in a very devastating thing that altered the future of two other people totally and irreversibly.
Revenge is the base for the manipulation taking place and who better to pick as the perfect person to be manipulated? Cruel? Yes, utterly, but that's the nature of this master manipulator.
I had figured out a part of the plot which gave me the right to pat myself on the shoulder. Did this disturb me? No, not at all it made me proud of myself and there was still plenty left to be revealed.
There were a few things that happened that would be considered as unforgivable in my book, but maybe if you unravel the story behind the actions, you could admit they were done with the best intentions. So maybe the right thing to do was to forgive and forget.
I enjoyed the book and I adore the cover. Those shoes are so cute. Looking forward to more books by this author whether it's maybe a third book in this series or a completely different one. 5 stars
The Missing Bridesmaid (Broken Vows Book 2) by L.G. Davis Pub Date: Jun 13 2024
The Missing Bridesmaid is a great sequel in the Broken Vows series. It starts off six years after The Woman At My Wedding, book one. I was pulled in from the first page and couldn't put it down until I finished it! The story is told from Nathan and Lennie's perspectives. I loved reading the chapters from Lennie the six year old who has an imaginary friend named Whisper. I couldn't wait to see where the story would end! I'm hoping for another sequel!
Synopsis: I’m getting married tomorrow. But someone has taken my daughter…
I first start worrying about my beautiful daughter Lennie when she claims her imaginary friend told her not to trust me or her father, Nathan. And as she retreats further into her own world and pushes us away, it feels like we are losing our little girl. Then one evening I see a shadowy figure in Lennie’s bedroom window, and I begin to worry her friend isn’t imaginary at all…
Many thanks to #TheMissingBridesmaid #NetGalley and #Bookouture for providing me with an E-ARC of this book.
It’s about 6 years after the ending of book 1 that we pick up the story in this book. Hannah is engaged to Nathan and they form their family together with their daughter Lennie. The story is told brom the POV’s of Hannah and Lennie. Not everything, however, is as happy as it seems. Hannah and Nathan have a past and Lennie has an imaginary friend, Whisper, who’s getting more and more real.
Hannah is dealing with some serious health issues, feeling dizzy and she has massive headaches, but she’s not able to figure out where it comes from. Then she starts seeing things: weird figures around the house and she can’t figure out what’s happening.
Then it’s time for the rehearsal dinner, but Lennie suddenly gets taken away (this is being described in chapter 1, so no spoiler!). The story unfolds as you try to figure out what’s going on.
I liked this book, but definitely not as much as the last one. It also, somehow, took me a bit to figure out we were dealing with the same characters, haha. Overall, fine thriller with some twists, but nothing too incredible.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own 🫶🏼
I had read the first book in this set, The Woman at My Wedding, so I was thrilled to get this book. I did have to go back and re-read the end of the other book to catch up on the characters and plot. When Hannah finds out her daughter, Lennie, has been talking to a “guardian angel” she brushes it off as her imaginary friend. Her fiancé, Nathan, thinks it’s all in her head, but it becomes too real when Lennie is kidnapped the day of their wedding. Who is trying to poison Lennie against her parents? This one was very easy to read – I read it in one day. I loved the development of the characters and how they interacted with each other – enough to satisfy me, but kept me guessing how they were all related. It had me hooked as soon as I read a few chapters and totally kept my interest until the end. There were lots of twists and a very shocking, but satisfying, ending. I can see a book three coming with this one, and I’m ready for it! A great read! #NetGalley #LGDavis #Bookouture #TheMissingBridesmaid
**Book Review: "The Missing Bridesmaid" by L.G. Davis**
L.G. Davis delivers a gripping and an intensely emotional thriller in "The Missing Bridesmaid," a novel that seamlessly blends psychological suspense with family drama. The story revolves around a mother’s worst nightmare: her daughter’s sudden disappearance on the night before her wedding.
The story has a time jump that begins with an unsettling introduction to Hannah and Nathan’s daughter, Lennie, who starts to talk to her imaginary friend, Whisper. Lennie’s imaginary friend sets the stage for a chilling series of events.
As the plot thickens, Davis masterfully keeps readers on the edge of their seats with a series of twists and turns.
Davis excels at creating a palpable sense of fear and urgency, drawing readers into Hannah’s frantic search for Lennie. The pacing is relentless, I lost a bit of sleep as I kept coming back for more!
The only thing for me was the time jump. I felt it was too long between what happened in Book 1 to Book 2.
This is book #2 in the Broken Vows series and it doesn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed it, just as much as book #1 The Woman at My Wedding. It’s a brilliant follow on. I couldn’t put it down. The story follows Hannah, Nathan and their daughter Lennie. Around six years after book #1, as they prepare for their wedding and becoming coming a family. It’s told through alternating POV’s from Hannah and Lennie with quick, short chapters which I liked. I particularly liked the chapters told from Lennie’s POV as these included her imaginary friend Whisper which just added to the story. The storyline is interesting and the twists and turns kept me guessing. It’s well written, relatable with unforgettable characters. It’s a real page turner with a brilliant ending. Overall, a gripping and entertaining read. Definitely recommend this book. I can’t wait to read more from this author @lgdavisauthor With thanks to #NetGallery @bookouture for an arc of #TheMissingBridesmaid in exchange for a honest review. Book publishes 13 June 2024.
I enjoyed the first book, The Woman at my Wedding, so of courseI had to read the sequel.
This one starts off 6 years after book one. Hannah and Nathan are getting married, and they will finally be a family with their daughter Lennie and her imaginary friend Whisper.
Of course, nothing in life ever goes smoothly, and challenges start to pop up one by one. Will they be able to overcome all the hurdles?
I think my favorite thing about this book was the chapters from Lennie's POV. It's such a unique perspective, and I loved the addition of her imaginary friend. This also moves the plotline along at a good pace.
Overall, it was a good read, and It left an opening for a 3rd book. I still liked The Nanny series much better, though.
3.5 stars
Thank you to Bookature and Netgally for my advanced copy. My review was voluntary.
This book is nuts! It's approximately seven years after the ending of The Woman at My Wedding, and Hannah and Nathan have a six year old daughter, Lennie. We meet some new characters and at first, most everyone seems nice and supportive, except for "The Woman". We don't know who "The Woman" is, but I had some ideas.
The adults in this book are a mess. There are lies, deception, jealousy, betrayal, impulsiveness, poor decision making and a real lack of self-confidence for so many of them. Aside from cute Lennie, I felt like everyone else was suspect at some point. I have enjoyed every book I've read by L.G. Davis. The Missing Bridesmaid is not quite as good as The Woman at My Wedding (Book #1), but it's still worth the read. It is a fun, quick, easy story. 3.5 stars! Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the digital ARC.
Book 2 in the Broken Vows series is here! This book can be read as a standalone. I loved the 1st book, and was so excited about this one. It was different than what I expected. A good majority of the book is told from a child's perspective. The big twist was easy to figure out early on, so I was curious about where the book was taking me. Figuring out this big piece of the plot early on did not take away from the enjoyment of the book.. This was a fast paced and intriguing story. I was pulled in from the very first page. Even though this was different than what I expected, it was a truly gripping and entertaining story. The ending was shocking! Definitely recommend this book and the series!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This was a fun book with a lot of brilliant ideas. I loved reading chapters that were from Lennie’s point of view. I loved how it revealed certain things that you wouldn’t otherwise get without it being seen from her eyes. I was just a little bit disappointed in the end. The build-up that reached its peak toward the end of the book was a little anti climactic. It just kind of seemed to fizzle out a bit and didn’t put a lot of the brilliance from throughout the book to the best use and resolution. Overall it was a very good and entertaining book. I just wanted a little more. Thank you #netgalley and #bookouture for the opportunity to read this arc!
This book started out real well and held my interest a lot more than Book 1 of this series. Nathan and Hannah are looking forward to finally getting married and their 6-year-old daughter, Lennie, is excited as well. Nathan's father dies suddenly and that throws him into a deep depression. At the same time, strange things are beginning to happen to Hannah as well. None of the characters are very likeable including their daughter, Lennie, who both parents seem to cater to her every whim. The story does seem to be repetitive at times with Hannah's headaches, dizziness, etc. Overall, it was a pretty good read.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this book.
Little Lennie, she is so sweet and innocent with such a loving family. What could make her all of a sudden fear her father, why is her mum hallucinating a person in her room when there’s no one there?
Just like the first book, i loved it! I had inklings on where things were headed, but how it all unfolded was nothing like I imagined with many twists I didn’t see coming either.
If you’re going to read this one though, definitely make sure you have read the first book, The Woman At My Wedding! Another amazing read!
I received this book as an advanced reader copy for free and have provided my review absolutely voluntarily.
I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I did not enjoy this book as much as the first one.i felt like it did not become a thriller until the last 20 percent of the book. Before that it was very slow moving and very repetitive. I was so tired of the little girl constantly saying my daddy doesn't love me. I think you need to read the first book to get the whole story. I normally like this author but this one was not a hit for me and I found myself skimming through parts.
Another family saga that started well but then became ridiculous. Hannah and Nathan have a daughter, Lennie. She has an imaginary friend, Whisper. Hannah and Nathan have a secret that we only uncover properly in the last 10% of the book. The problem with the story is the abundance of insanity including one character being slowly poisoned by another person, while another supposedly sound-of-mind person, adds poison to someone's daily drinks thinking they're an antidote to poison. A case of too much ruined the potential of this story. 3 stars
I didn’t like this book as much as the first one. I didn’t like Hannah’s character as much as I thought I would. I liked the unique idea of having the child’s point of view throughout the book but it was also really heartbreaking to see her being lied to and made to feel so sad and scared. I loved the wild and crazy ending. So many twists and turns there. Overall a good book, just personally wasn’t my favorite. I’d rate it 3.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley for my copy!
This is the second book in the Broken Vows series and it’s just as good as the first book . I would recommend reading book one first (The woman at my wedding ) as it sets the backdrop for this second book . I found this to be another gripping read with plenty of twists and turns . The story revolves around Nathan and Hannah and their young daughter Lennie . This book was a real page tuner and really held my interest the whole way through .
