When a man wakes up with no memory of who he is, how do you begin to heal wounds that go deeper than the body? Legacy of Hope by Renae Brumbaugh Green brilliantly unravels this question, infusing each chapter with a powerful blend of storytelling and faith. For anyone who's ever felt like a blank slate waiting for God's direction, Jackson's amnesia becomes a striking metaphor for the spiritual uncertainties we all face when life feels unclear.

Lisa Garcia, the nurse who takes care of Jack, is the true heartbeat of this novel. Growing up as an orphan, she's already learned how to trust God when life feels like an endless, uphill battle. Now, as Jack fights to piece his life back together, her compassion, both as a nurse and a child of God, is a steady hand guiding him toward hope. It's through prayer, not her medical skills, that she offers the deepest healing. That quote about how prayer feels like "the most—not the least" you can do? That's Lisa's quiet strength. Her relationship with God is so genuine and lived-out that you can't help but reflect on your own faith.

Jack’s journey—trying to escape the shadow of his powerful and abusive father—reveals how much our past can haunt us. But this story reminds us to consider Philippians 4:6, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Jack has no memories, but he clings to the peace and calm that comes from his growing relationship with Lisa and God. You can almost see him leaning into that faith as the foundation of his new identity. It's like the novel's title promises—Legacy of Hope—that God doesn't need us to remember the past to heal it.

The faith-filled moments in this book shook me to my core, reigniting a deep sense of awe and trust in God’s unwavering presence, sovereignty, and love. The way romance gently unfolds alongside their spiritual journey only makes this story that much more endearing.

“God doesn’t use cookie cutters when He creates us.” How true is that quote? Watching Jack grapple with his lost past while struggling to build a future hit me hard. The way he wrestled with his identity mirrored the truth that, even when life feels like a puzzle missing half its pieces, God’s plan is still at work. That truth settled deep, reminding me that His unique purpose for each of us is never thwarted, no matter how lost we may feel.

Renae Brumbaugh Green’s writing flows effortlessly, drawing you in with vivid descriptions and heartfelt dialogue that makes you feel each moment alongside the characters. You won’t just read this book—you’ll feel it. It’s not the twists or the romance that will stay with you long after you’ve closed the final chapter. It’s the way Renae Brumbaugh Green reminds you that God is always present, orchestrating His plan, even when life feels like a broken story with missing pieces. Legacy of Hope is a vivid testament to the truth that no matter how lost we feel—whether from the wounds of our past, the weight of our burdens, or even the fog of forgotten memories—God is right there every second while crafting a future beyond anything we can imagine.

This isn’t just a book. It’s a wake-up call to trust in the God who never forgets, never abandons, and never fails to lead us exactly where we’re meant to be. You’ll walk away from Legacy of Hope with a heart stirred, a faith renewed, and a deep sense of peace, knowing that even in the unknown, His plans are the absolute best.

Legacy of Hope is a sweet story of family, healing, and God's grace.

Green creates an endearing cast of characters. Jackson and Lisa are main characters you can't help but root for. Some secondary characters, like Papa, are wonderful as well. The faith is gentle and touching. I loved how a certain character treated another certain character like his daughter and how the underlying theme of finding where we belong affects and guides the MCs. It's quite relatable because don't we all question that at some point in our lives?

Readers of Christian historical romance will enjoy Legacy of Hope.

This is my first book by this author and the third book in The Stratton Series and I was able to read as a standalone. Characters you want to get to know and pacing that keeps you turning pages. I really enjoyed the author’s style and look forward to reading more. I could identify with Ivelisse and the feeling of being an orphan stigma as my mama was in an orphanage. I loved her kind and compassionate heart towards others and the developing romance between her and Jackson. It was interesting having a character with amnesia and how it was dealt with in 1898. How frustrating to live with a battle in your mind to remember and still be strong enough to move on with life in the meantime. He still knew that still, small voice of God and was encouraged. I was fascinated with how cholera was dealt with and nursing duties for that time period. A well rounded story of faith, family, forgiveness, acceptance, & love. A beautiful book from the exquisite cover to the final words.

Legacy of Hope (The Stratton Legacy Book 3) by Renae Brumbaugh Green is my favorite of this series. Jackson Stratton has an accident that leaves him with amnesia which may be better for him while he regains his strength and health back. It would be impossible for him not to fall for the loving, kind, and gentle nurse Ivelisse "Lisa" Garcia. Their story is wonderfully written with me wishing these characters were real and friends of mine.

A story of overcoming social biases, parental hardship and overall harsh realities of life. Related loosely to the other books in the series, this is a marvelous read that was difficult to put down. Seeing the hand of a loving and grace filled God made the story even more appealing. Able to be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend Legacy of Hope.

A beautifully written story with characters that you can’t help but love. With a plot that gives adequate time for a relationship to build the story feels real and not rushed without being too slow or dragged on. It was like stepping into the book and living it out myself. I couldn’t help but read rapidly toward the end because of the anticipation the author builds in the plot. With each page the story gains more momentum until you’re holding your breath about to burst from all the ways the outcome of the book can turn. With God being woven into the story it causes the reader to reflect on one’s own life and relationship with the Savior, it never felt preachy or over done. From start to finish this story wrapped around my heart and kept me throughly engrossed in the pages. A wonderfully written and extremely entertaining read!

Legacy of Hope by Renae Brumbaugh Green is a beautifully written and heartwarming addition to the Stratton Legacy series. As the third book in the series, it continues to deliver the same depth and emotional resonance that fans have come to expect. The main character, Ivelisse “Lisa” Garcia, captured my heart from the beginning. Her strength, compassion, and resilience, shaped by her upbringing in an orphanage, make her journey as a nurse in a mission hospital both inspiring and relatable.

The introduction of a mysterious stranger with no memory adds a gripping layer to the story. The gradual unfolding of his past and Lisa’s determination to help him not only showcase the author’s gift for storytelling but also highlight the theme of healing and redemption. Their growing connection is tender and thoughtful, never feeling rushed, which makes their relationship all the more engaging.

Set against the backdrop of a mission hospital, the novel expertly weaves in the challenges and triumphs of its time period, transporting readers to another world while maintaining a sense of realism. Renae Brumbaugh Green’s writing style is both elegant and accessible, with rich descriptions and well-developed characters that make the story come alive.

I particularly enjoyed how the book balances historical context with the characters’ personal struggles and triumphs. Lisa’s inner conflict between finding fulfillment in her work and the possibility of love feels authentic and relatable. It’s rare to find a book that so seamlessly blends emotion, romance, and personal growth.

If you’re looking for a deeply satisfying, character-driven story that will leave you thinking long after you’ve turned the final page, Legacy of Hope is a book to consider. Renae Brumbaugh Green has a true gift for creating vivid, inspiring stories that touch the heart.

What I think you should know:
Legacy of Hope, a historical Christian fiction by Renae Brumbaugh Green is the third book in The Stratton Legacy. Set in San Antonio in 1898, this story features Jackson “Jack” Stratton, who suffers amnesia and Ivelisse “Lisa” Garcia, an Orphan turn nurse who helps care for Jack as he recovers both physically and mentally. This story can be read as a standalone, but does give spoilers for the previous books in the series.

What you might need to know:
Jack was raised in a very volatile and abusive home. Jack is injured at the beginning of the book and has amnesia.
Lisa was raised in an orphanage

What I think about this book:
This was a very captivating book, Green takes readers on a heartfelt emotional journey with the characters. I love the quote “Getting to know a person is a marathon, not a sprint.” I love how the author allowed the character to get to know each other over time and stayed true to the plot. It makes the story all the sweeter in my opinion. I love how Lisa was such a pillar of faith in the book, especially how Green had her pray over many things including “Make your request known to God.” As a Christian it is nice to have a reminder that God loves us so much that he doesn’t mind us praying for the desires of our hearts, not just our needs. Jack was also an interesting character, I enjoyed seeing how even though he lost his memory he didn’t lose his integrity. I highly recommend this book and look forward to more by the author.

The Stratton family have quite a legacy, and this is Jackson, Jack, Stratton's story. Jack has serious father issues, and now that he is grown, he has left home. Due to the fear of his father, he leaves home without letting anyone know with the hopes of joining up with Roosevelt's Rough Riders. That was an interesting tidbit of historical information that I don't believe I have read in another book. On his way he meets nurse Ivelisse, Lisa, who is an orphan, and then he has an accident.

Lisa and Jack have a bit of an instant attraction, though they are forced to get to know one another as Jack now has amnesia and can't remember who he is. He does have nightmares that he suspects are from his previous life.

This is the third book in this family saga, and there is some growing, maturity, and redemption that takes place as the rest of the Stratton's believe that Jackson is dead. It forces his parents to really reevaluate their life, what they worked so hard for that turned into dust when they thought they lost their beloved son. Change can happen, families can heal even though it may be a long road. And maybe, just maybe a new legacy can begin.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.

Jackson flees his wealthy home under the cover of darkness to escape his abusive father and join Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders. Opting to be called "Jack," he attempts to leave his past behind, but before he can enlist with the Rough Riders, he sustains an injury that leads to amnesia. He had encountered Lisa, a hospital nurse, the day prior and awakens in the hospital under her care. It's hard to fathom having no memories to anchor your life. Who are you? Where do you come from? Do you have a family? Your mind is like a blank canvas. You possess the ability to read, write, and perform all physical tasks, yet the rest of your mind is empty. Lisa dedicates herself to assisting Jack emotionally, physically, and mentally. Having grown up an orphan, Lisa had a remarkable support network within the mission that adopted her. I admired Lisa's compassionate nature and how she was precisely what Jack needed as he dealt with his amnesia. There were also other significant characters who played a beneficial role in Jack's life.
The other aspect of the story I appreciated was the portrayal of Jackson's "real" family and their emotional struggle as they cope with his disappearance and the uncertainty of his whereabouts. It's a deeply emotional section that depicts their ordeal.

Legacy of Hope by Renae Brumbaugh Green is a Christian Historical Romance. Ivelisse “Lisa” Garcia, raised in an orphanage, found purpose in working as a nurse in a Mission hospital. A chance encounter with a patient in her ward who has no memory of his past changes her future. However, she also carries a secret that could destroy that future.

Jackson Stratton desires to escape from his father’s tyranny. As a result, he decides to join Theodore Roosevelt’s Rough Riders. An accident leaves him injured and with no memories. However, Lisa Garcia cares for him as a patient and attempts to help him rebuild his past while creating a new future.

The author did an excellent job developing both the characters and the storyline. The role faith, hope, and, most importantly, God play in this story brought the book to life. I found myself unable to put it down.

I loved the various things Jackson could remember and all the things he could not remember. Plus, the way his memories came back and the changes in his father were beautiful to read.

So, if you want to read a Christian Historical Romance, check out Legacy of Hope by Renae Brumbaugh Green.

My Thoughts

Legacy of Hope is book three in the Stratton Legacy series that is written by Renae Brumbaugh Green. Well, each of the books can be read as a standalone, they are best Red together, so you can get the full picture and story that the author has created.

Ivelisse "Lisa" Garcia has overcome the hardships of growing up in an orphanage and found purpose as a nurse at a local mission hospital. A chance encounter with a patient in her ward who has no memory of his past changes her future. However, she also carries a secret that could destroy that future.

Growing up in an orphanage wasn’t easy. Lisa saw so many get adopted while she never was. Now she’s an adult and is satisfied with her career. Jackson was raised by a strict father. He wants to break free and ends up in the hospital with no recollection of who he is and where he came from. He was on his way to join up with the Roosevelt Rough Riders when it happened.

This story is well written. The author does a great job with dealing with PTSD and not so great families. She writes the reminder of how important it is to trust God.

Thank You to the author, publisher, and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

Historical Fiction is one of my favorite Genres. Legacy of Hope by Renae Brumbaugh Green is Book 3 in The Stratton Legacy Series. I have been enjoying this series and have been anxiously awaiting the release of this book.

I dove right into this book and couldn't stop reading it. Ivelisse "Lisa" Garcia and Jackson Stratton are the main characters of this book. Lisa had a rough childhood, having grown up in an orphanage. She is giving back as she is now a nurse. Jackson Stratton decided he was needing to flee from his father who has made life rough for him. He meets Lisa when he is injured in a FREAK accident which causes amnesia. Lisa is determined to help Jackson recover and hopefully remember who he is and where he comes from. Jackson isn't sure he wants to remember his past and he might just want to move forward. Lisa also struggles with moving forward in life and forgetting her past. I LOVE how they both rely on God to help them heal from their pasts and to be able to move forward in life together. The book is one of Faith, LOVE, Healing, and Forgiveness. I HIGHLY Recommend this book for anyone who loves Historical Fiction Romance. GREAT BOOK!

I really enjoyed this nice clean historical book. The author does a good job of giving readers a feel of what it was like during this time period. Lisa is a wonderful character with a big heart. Her desire to help others is evident as she works with sick patients. The threat of cholera is dangerous but she continues to devote her life to helping others. I liked the background on her being an orphan and thankful for the ones who raised her.

Jackson has been raised by a very stern father who disregards what others want. It is time for Jackson to get out from under his father’s wrath and be on his own. The relationship between our two main characters is sweet. Jackson must learn to overcome many obstacles while trying to remember his past.

The story does deal with secrets that could cause complications in a relationship. I loved how the author incorporates a lesson on trusting God and learning to let go of the past. I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Legacy of Hope” is the first book I’ve read by this author. I enjoy the writing style and easily sank into the western setting. Although this book is third in a series, it works nicely as a standalone.

I connected with Lisa and Jackson very quickly. It was easy to empathize with Jackson losing his memory, and with kindhearted Lisa helping him navigate his way. I especially loved the elements of faith and finding peace in God.

This was a quick read for me, with crisp storytelling keeping me turning pages. I found it difficult to put this one down. If you enjoy touching historical fiction stories with inspiring elements of romance and faith, this is a great choice!

First Line: Jackson Stratton looked over his shoulder, ignoring the knots in his gut.

I love the premise of this story. That even when we don’t know who we are, God does. He will never leave us. He will always be by our side and guiding us. Even if we don’t know who we are, we always know who God is.

Normally when there is a story with amnesia, it’s the woman who suffers from it. Not so with this story! Normally when there is someone being abused by their parents, it’s the woman who is suffering. Not so in this story!

This story beats the stereotypes while also reinforcing them.

You’re going to love this amazing historical fiction novel. The characters are wonderful. The storyline moves along quickly and isn’t like anything you’ve seen before.

Legacy of Hope" by Renee Brumbaugh Green was such a good book I was kept turning those pages because I had to know if Jack ever regained his memory. This is a story that shows that people can change and that forgiveness is possible. it also is a story that shows that God can and will give you your heart desiresif it is his will. it is a clean love story. This is a story that shows that Just because someone is different, doesn't mean that they aren't important or as good as someone that is rich or famous. I think readers would enjoy the story even if they haven't read the other two stories in he series, but again, I say why not read them all to get the entire story from beginning to end. I was given a complimentary copy by the author of it and Celebrate Lit these opinions are my own.

I have adored the first two books from The Stratton Legacy series. I was eagerly awaiting to get my hands on third installment, Legacy of Hope, and seeing what Renae Brumbaugh Green had in store for her readers. I was not disappointed and believe this one is my favorite of the series. I loved getting to know Lisa and Jackson. I was captivated with their story and had to keep reading until I was completely finished in one sitting. It was full of adventure, love, history, and intrigue. Loved it.

I give Legacy of Hope five stars. I highly recommend for fans of clean historical romance. I am looking forward to more from Renae Brumbaugh Green in the near future.

Jack Stratton does not want to be his father - but how can he possibly convince those around him that he is different? His only option seems to be to leave home and join the Roosevelt Rough Riders. However, an accident leaves him with amnesia. Now he has no past - in fact he does not even know his name. Can he make a life for himself with no memories?

Lisa Garcia, a nurse having encountered Jack before the accident, is able to put a name to the face of the patient in the hospital. However, memories do not seem to return. Her past is far from conventional, and she is so grateful that the Lord has shown her more than once - You are wanted, you are God’s child and He loves you.

An ARC was received allowing me to follow these two well developed characters as they negotiate the PTSD that plagues them both. Will they learn that all things are possible with God? Received through Wild Heart Books and BookFunnel, these thoughts are my own and were in no way solicited.

Lisa Garcia has grown up in an orphanage where other children were adopted but she never was! Lisa is now an attractive, caring nurse. Jackson Stratton has grown up on a cattle ranch with a controlling father. When Jackson decides he can't take his father any longer, he leaves secretly to join Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders. I loved how Jackson and Lisa had a chance meeting when he arrived in town. Jackson is injured in a fall from his horse before he can enlist and awakens under Lisa's care in a mission hospital but with no memory. You will wonder if Lisa and Jack can overcome all of the obstacles they face for a life together. I recommend Legacy of Hope to others. I received a complimentary e-book of Legacy of Hope. This is my honest opinion.

I thought this was a good story. I liked seeing the different ways that God worked in the different characters lives and how they discovered who they are. I liked seeing the repentance and forgiveness between Jack and his father. I also liked seeing how the author showed that no one is perfect and we all make mistakes. I also liked the love story between Lisa and Jack and all they went through in order to be together. After reading this book I would love to read the first two books in this series to find out more about some of the characters. I would recommend this story if you want something uplifting and inspiring.

First, I’ll say that Legacy of Hope can be read as a stand alone, even though it is book 3 in the Stratton Legacy series. Book 1 is Legacy of Honor, and Book 2 is Legacy of Love. Do give them a read!

Well developed characters bring the story to life. Jackson is dealing with a hard home life and going to war to get away. Lisa lives in a mission after being left as a baby. We see the results of these traumas but we see hope with a faith message throughout the book. God always wants to bring healing and rebuild families.

If you enjoy historical fiction do give Legacy of Hope a read!

What a great storyline. I loved how the story developed between Jack and Lisa. From being totally dependent on Lisa for Jack's every need as he is recovering from his accident made it a sweet, tender love story by the end of the book. Really doesn't matter what background (rich or poor) you are from as long as you treat everyone the best that you can. Mrs. Clark looked down on Lisa and even Jack to a point. It was devastating when Colt said what he did about Lisa. Jack's memory coming back as soon as he returned home to familiar surroundings was pretty immediate. But Colt's change of heart made the end of the story even better.

A very touching story of two people who are trying their best to overcome their heritages. Lisa is an orphan and Jackson is running from a tyrannical father. They meet briefly by the river and then again when Jackson wakes up in a local hospital with Lisa as his nurse. Even though he has no memory of her he is drawn to her and she to him. As Jackson recovers and glimpses of his memory returns love starts to grow between them as Lisa helps him to recover. I was drawn into this story as these two journeyed their path to self-discovery and love for each other.

This story is the third in a series featuring the Stratton family, but it can definitely be read as a standalone. Some characters from the previous books figure prominently in this one and provide back story and transition into this one.

A freak accident leaves Jackson Stratton with amnesia and dependent on Austin locals, including his nurse, Ivelisse Garcia. Set against the backdrop of the Spanish-American war, it provides a lighter glimpse into that era with the addition of delightful orphans, a compassionate priest, and Jackson’s unusual aspirations of making a career as a trick-rider.

I very much enjoyed this book. Life has many challenges, twists and turns, and plans that go awry. God gives us so much to enjoy, so many blessings, we often focus on the bad things and not all of the good things we are blessed with. This was a difficult situation with this young man who had no memories of who he was. When his memories came back he had to make some tough decisions. Sometimes in life we have to experience really hard things before we get our thinking straightened out. It was a good story, with wonderful loving characters who tried to make a difference in this world.

Well done

A really well presented story that takes you from the beginning, through the healing and recovery journey, and at the end, the true and deeper part of it all. Wouldn't it be lovely if life truly did end up like this? A well thought out book. I like the deft touch. The children; Papa; the business owners; the doctors and nurses all make the story "come home" to you as you immerse yourself in the story.
Recommend it as a good clean, well crafted story for a weekend's read.

The love and faithfulness of God

I have so enjoyed this beautiful series. Really is each book in a series as wonderful as these 3. I can't decide which 1 is my favorite as each of them is just wonderful. I read a lot of books and I'm not exaggerating when I say how great the lessons are tha t we can learn through these books. I've missed a lot of sleep since starting these books but it was well worth it. My hat off to Mrs Green. It is so evident that our Lords was with you as you wrote.

This is the third book in Green’s Stratton Legacy series. I have not yet read the first two books, but I really liked this one, so will go back and read the first two when I have a chance. The characters drew me right in, the plot and various twists kept up my interest, and I read the whole thing in one day. The amnesia trope is handled really well, and adds a lot to the book.

it brought happy tears!

This was a wonderful story and I enjoyed it so much. It started out a little slow and I wasn’t sure if I’d like it as much as the first 2 books but it turned out I don’t know which one liked more. I gave it a 4 star because there were quite a few errors in the book. I had to laugh when they ate friend (fried) chicken. But also there was a time it two when the wrong name was used and words left out.

This is a book about healing and learning from your past mistakes. Jack left his home in search of finding himself and he found so much more. Lisa was an orphan that found the family she always wanted. Sweet story of healing and faith.
