Raizou is a man, but he’s drawing BL manga. In an unexpected turn of event, he got acquainted with TOS, who is also a man and drawing BL manga. Raizou is down to earth and good-looking, but his BL manga style is dark, and he sells very well.
In contrast, TOS’s BL style is fluffy but his works are not as popular due to his negative personality and communication difficulty. The two are the exact opposite of each other, and yet thanks to the influence of alcohol, somehow it turned out they’ll be dating each other…?!
Just read the first volume of Comic Party Wonder Love! ❀࿐ I've been wanting to grab this because I love the cover plus I love stories that have the shy/assertive dynamic. We have two mangakas who write BL but their success is quite different. There's Raizo who has a huge fanbase and is loved by many and on other hand there's TOS who barely has reviews and no one seems to be picking up his manga. TOS is shy and a reclusive, wears black, but writes very VERY fluffy romance stories. Raizo is his whole opposite oh my god - he is fashionable, handsome, and funny but his manga are all dark, they usually don't have happy endings and are very kinky too.
This first volume definitely left me wanting to read more and I see there are more volumes so WILL PICK THEM UP SOON ㅤ♡ If you love a cute story between opposites who becomes friends randomly and then become a couple after a drunken night, this manga is for you. Their situations are hilarious and the characters are so cute. I love how the love progressed and even though it started off as maybe not love, it quickly became a fact that they were feeling a lot more than they thought.
this was really fun!! i'm a sucker for manga with mangaka/revolving around making manga and we get not one but two here!
i loved seeing the gap moe between their appearance and their personalities, as well as how polar opposites the manga they write is.
this could very well had been a single volume and would work fine, like most, but I'm glad there's more after this because i genuinely found this duo super fun. its a story thats easy to read and super enjoyable.
Sooo it was funny at certain points but the romantic pull didn’t seem to be there. It reminds me of BL tamon b side. the BL fantasy sequences were my favorite part. I have the second one checked out so I will continue reading
Maybe more like 3.5 stars, but it was funny and fun and I'm definitely interested in more.
Two minor quibbles with the publisher: the text used "Raizo Hatage" initially and then "Raize Hatake" after that. If you're going to mess something up during the translation and typesetting process, it shouldn't be the main character's name. And the dubcon warning on the back was pretty unnecessary...it might put people off of the main storyline, where it's not present at all. All I can think is that it's referring to the darkness of the BLs Raizo draws - which, yeah, is very much not my personal style, so I suppose fair warning for the toxicity of his storylines. But there's just one as a little insert that shows more of the differences in their personalities than any actual impact on their relationship.
So far, anyway. I'd tap out if the series became anything like Raizo's storylines, but I doubt it. They're pretty sweet at this point - more like the BL that Tos writes, and which Raizo adores and envies.
The most interesting part of the story is something that really only gets touched on in passing. Basically, Raizo was introduced to BL through his fujo older sister, and began drawing BL of his own for her, which she loved and showed off to her friends. Except it turns out she's the kind of fujo who likes gay men in fiction but not in real life. She told her brother that if he ever turned out to be gay himself - and not just drawing BL for fun - she would be grossed out and wouldn't accept it, or him.
So Raizo grew up and into a BL publishing career, dating women, pretending he was straight, and claiming that he drew BL just for the fun of it.
I'm curious if his sister will show up in later volumes and if he'll get to actually address that part of his past. I'm not sure if it's that kind of a story - Yamano seems to lean more into the humor, which is also fun - but it would add some really nice depth.
Raizo "falling in love" with Tos does feel a little bit on the abrupt side, but I think Yamano's editor did a good job of pulling out more development there. (Because apparently there was very little in the first storyboards.) Their relationship seems like one that will definitely develop more over time; right now, Raizo is in the exciting flush of having someone really love him - for both his manga and himself - which he's spent years not believing was possible.
So he's attracted to Tos for a variety of reasons, including his art, the odd sweetness in his stories juxtaposed against the darkness in his personality, and the way that Tos is just so open and honest and upfront about everything, including his feelings for Raizo. It's easy to see how he'd start getting attached, and how that could turn into a more longterm kind of love.
Raizo does definitely show some possessive sorts of qualities, which isn't a bad thing, and is understandable considering how alone and pent-up he's been feeling. Plus, Tos likes that - he loves Raizo's dark storytelling, after all.
So definitely an interesting story that could have some really great continuations. We'll see if it goes the directions I'm hoping.
This is hilarious (and gets better with each volume). I love the ML, TOS, who is a real vibe with his trash panda/larva existence. He's like a little gremlin with the way he hates himself but worships Raizo, but always manages to juuuust scrape by with his deadlines, and his love confession, and his weird friends. He's the kind of guy that doesn't understand his own charm. He's the perfect contrast to the seemingly perfect Raizo who is talented, handsome, kind, capable, all-around stellar human being, but is keeping his true self locked up to maintain that image.
The actual romance is a little thin, with the chemistry feeling a little bit forced, but I still feel like the author stuck the landing. And it improves in later volumes. It took a little while for Raizo's character to reveal his hidden depths, so it was initially hard to see what draws him to TOS as more than just a friend.
Overall, I really enjoyed this, primarily for TOS's character. It's mostly fluff, but it's funny, sweet, nerdy, and generally just a great time. I've read 3 volumes so far, and will be keen to read more if they become available.
Arrodoneixo a 4 perquè m'ho he passat bé ♥
will write a longer review later but this was unexpectedly very good? did not expect that at all!
it had some light-hearted moments but also some darkness and a bit of heartbreaking ones. both characters are very loveable and I really like that one looks gloomy but secretly is a cinnamon roll and the other looks beautiful/cool but has some darkness in him.
No cause why is this kinda peak bl..two bl authors who write completely different genres end up falling in love. I love how this addresses how homophobic so many BL readers are which makes ZERO SENSE...HOW R U READING ABT TWO GUYS FALLING IN LOVE BUT R HOMOPHOBIC IN REAL LIFE??? Both characters are also really well written in just the first volume which I appreciate it!
I like that it’s a manga about two guys that write manga lol. It’s fun and cute. I liked it a lot more than I thought I was going to and it’s really funny too. Definitely picking this up in stores when I get the opportunity 🙂↕️
I love a good gloomy uke x ikemen seme duo 😌 The story is cute too, there were some genuinely funny moments too! I def hope the mangaka continues with this vibe
Reading this first Vol of the series book I giving a 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It is interesting and cute that focus on the two main characters who are a bl manga authors and their personalities.
I went into this manga with zero expectations and watching them bounce off each other (pun intended) made the story way more entertaining than I expected.
