Audiobook free on the Read Me Romance podcast, narrated by the amazing Mackenzie Cartwright.

For me, one of the biggest benefits of insta novellas such as this, is how reliable they are.

I usually spend a lot time checking reviews, tropes and spoilers before I choose a book—but with 'safe' instasmut, I don't have to worry about running into angsty plot points I'm not in the mood for. Much like fast food, they are literally a safe bet when I'm too busy or frazzled for anything else.

So you can imagine my irritation when the MMC (⚠spoiler)'White Fangs' the FMC after their first kiss. Tells her he didn't like it and doesn't want her.

And why? He was new in town and didn't want to move again. 🤨 Huh?? Then he changes his mind, but lets her suffer for days longer while he plans a picnic for her. Sorry but letting someone feel bad for days, just so you can say "Surprise I like you after all!" is a dick move of its own and doesn't count as grovel.

And then after all that, the book has the audacity to fade to black and END right before their first sex scene. This is me 🙋‍♀️ raising my hand because I've been personally victimized by Something Sweet..

An extra half-star for narration, and because the FMC kept her dignity, didn't beg and chase him, and made him wait three whole minutes before forgiving him. Yeah the bar is in Purgatory... but she's still outpacing most FMCs.

This was super cute. Elsa greets her bad boy neighbor Luke by bringing him Valentine’s Day cookies. He’s smitten with her instantly but pushes her away. When he overhears that she’s going to go find another man to kiss (because she thinks she’s terrible at it) he stakes his claim!

Girl what. He gave you your first kiss just to turn around and decide that he didn't want you, because he doesn't want to have to move away leaving you crushed. You then make out with your hand crying for a whole ass week, because you think you are a bad kisser.
I think not. The MMC didn't deserve the FMC and it is unbelievable that they would make it 3 years.

It was ok. It was not the best one of her books I've read, but it was still enjoyable. In all honesty, as much as I enjoy these quick books, I crave more and it's really noticeable here. I would've loved to see Elsa go on a date or something with someone else, make him really regret pushing her away. It just didn't feel like he was struggling with his emotions, etc and she was all too eager to take him back.

An instalove romance set in a desert town about dental receptionist, Elsa and tattoo artist, Luke.
Luke has recently moved into the house next door to Elsa's and she bakes him some cookies for Valentine's Day. He rejects her but he tries to make it up to her a few days later.
He falls first and instantly and it's a nice story, though over the top.
Elsa is young and sweet and very likeable. There is swearing and sexual scenes. It was an enjoyable short story which I rate 3.75*.

Ah, esse romance foi tão fofo quanto o título sugere. Luke e Elsa são dois completos opostos, tanto no grumpy x sunshine, quanto no estilo de vida. Mas pensa num casal perfeito juntos?! Amei cada minuto que passei lendo essa história, que já entrou na minha lista de favoritos. Super-Hiper-Ultra-Mega-Power recomendado!

Like an appetizer! Short story leading up to more of Prickly Pear Springs. OTT and instalove with a bit of angst. Easy to read while in a waiting room and not a crazy amount of chili pepper scenes you need to tilt your ereader.
