I just dropped my underwear in front of the hottest guy I’ve ever seen. Then I found out we’d be working together.
My best friend just went to Paris for three months, leaving me with her luxury apartment… And her hot-as-Hades neighbor.
If you think those sound like nice problems to have, think again. Because Weston Scott is anything but nice.
The star hockey player for the San Diego Firebirds is as grim as he is gorgeous. The first time we meet, I spill a box of my lingerie at his feet. He calls me a crazy stalker and slams his door in my face.
The second time we meet, I’m getting hired as the new social media coordinator for the Firebirds… And he’s swearing to make me quit before the season starts.
But I need this job if I’m going to escape the gravitational pull of the life I left behind. So I can’t afford to let Weston Scott run me out of town.
I also can’t afford to let him break my heart. But with every accidental bump-in in the apartment hallway… With every missing pair of panties stolen from my drawer… With every naked late-night skate session, every stolen kiss, every “whoops, we shouldn’t have done that”… I get a little bit closer to crossing the red line.
And that can only end in one of two Heaven or heartbreak.
RED LINE RUIN is Book 1 of the Los Angeles Firebirds Hockey duet. Weston and Renee’s story concludes in Book 2, RED LINE RIOT.
Living in New York City in an apartment the size of a normal closet in the Midwest, Mariah writes spicy enemies-to-lovers contemporary romances that will leave you in need of a cold shower. When she's not writing or lost in her obsession to find the best cappuccino in NYC, she enjoys trying new restaurants, going to yoga, and taking her rescue dog, Nala, on long walks.
Weston is an ass and I’m still trying to figure out what Renee liked about him. He’s damaged so I could give him a little leeway but he never did anything to make me think putting up with his crap would be worth it. Even when she is sick and can barely get out of bed he stays away so he doesn’t get it. Doesn’t even come take care of her or insist on helping her.
And Renee was just another girl who has no backbone and falls at the feet of a hot guy. He continually pushes her away and she just comes back for more - taking any crumbs she can get and allowing Weston to make all the decisions. Weak.
I won’t even bother with the ending it’s so ridiculous. Obviously she didn’t rob you when she was only away from the bed for 3 minutes. 🙄
I really tried to read it, but I just couldn't. I would've like to see MUCH more of a back bone in Renee. The H felt like it was all bad acting... couldn't make it past a 120 page before I completely lost interest.
So in my opinion this book started a little slow…but thankfully it picked up pretty quickly! It’s a classic girl meets boy, they have instant attraction and hatred that’s turn red hot! The end had a twist I didn’t really expect and now I’m going to be counting down the hours until the next book is released!.

Man oh man, this book. Was full of emotions. First off, I loved the book, it had me up and down with my thoughts of the main characters, like a love hate relationship with the main male character. I hated him in the beginning but loved in the middle and then again hated him.but all in a good way. This book kept me wanting to turn the page. I needed to know what happened next. I love the female character she is one sassy, fiesty and lovable character. I was always rooting for her to be able to get her happy everything. I can't wait for what comes next. This book had me guessing who was the villian the whole time.

Just finished chapter 33.. I’m done.. I really tried to get into it but honestly early-on I knew it was bad.. Weston sucks and Renee is dumb. This was my first and most likely last book by this author
I made it with pushing myself to 51% and I just couldn’t do it. Weston was an ass and she was a doormat. And happy to be one. They might have had sparring with their words but it didn’t matter what was said she always let Weston do whatever he wanted. The no condom thing was the nail in the coffin and I could see the writing on the wall. I even skipped to the end to see if it would be worth it to read the second one and of course he was accusing her of something she didn’t do despite having a whole half of book to fall for her and learn about her character. No thanks, the only thing this book was, was annoying.
This is a fun enemies to friends with benefits hockey romance. Renee and Weston had great chemistry and the banter was lively. They seemed to go well together but they both have a lot to overcome individually.
Weston was pretty full of himself so it was entertaining watching him realize the situation he was in. It's always rewarding when the super alpha guy falls first and has to convince the girl to take a chance. Weston was definitely an alpha with a very possessive streak but when he was sweet he was sweet tooth sweet.
Renee was spunky and not afraid to stand up for herself. She dished it out as well as she took it. I could see being friends with her easily. I also loved her love of photography. Photography is my hobby and it really resonated with me when Renee was out taking pictures. How you see life through the lens. One thing that bugged me about her was that I didn't really understand why Renee felt she had to lie and hide herself from Weston. She has to know that will never work in a relationship.
I really enjoyed the story though it did get a little wordy in spots and the characters were repetitive at times with saying over and over how they didn't want a relationship but couldn't stand to be apart. I was quite surprised by the highly emotional ending. It had been relatively low angst until then. I guess it is all being saved up for book 2 because sparks and maybe fists are surely going to fly in the next book. I'm quite invested in the story and excited to see how this all plays out. I would recommend it!
We could have it, if we wanted. We’re both just too stubborn to say yes...
Renee and Weston...the banter between these two is combustible. They are fun and snarky.
Finally on her own, Renee is determined to make a brand new life for herself. She's finally broken ties with her abusive and controlling family. On her own, she's discovering a world beyond the wealth of her family with a new job and new friends. Everything is perfect except for the incredibly sexy jerk next door.
While, Weston is convinced Renee is just another hockey groupie. She lives in his building, works for his hockey team, and managers to show up wherever he goes. To him, that's the classic definition of a stalker and he's had enough of people taking advantage of him for his status, fame, money. He's been put through enough to know he can't trust easily.
Despite their animosity toward one another, each interaction brings them even closer. Weston is stubbornly beginning to see Renee as more than the puck bunny he assumed; and, she's starting understand that there is more to Weston than a bad attitude.
Red Line Ruin is the first book in the Los Angeles Firebirds duet. The story continues in Book 2 of the series, Red Line Riot. Fantastic!
Oh my goodness!! I have so many emotions going through my head while reading this! The cliff hanger though!!
Weston has past trauma from a girl who played him and stole from him. It’s caused him to be grumpy and closed off. When Renee literally stumbled in his path, he is dead set on staying away from her. Except she intrigues him and he finds himself wanting her more and more.
Weston starts noticing more things missing in his apartment and he gets concerned that his past is happening all over again. When the apartment has a black out one night he awakens to find his apartment has been trashed and he has been robbed. Things quickly start spiraling from there and Weston is positive that it was Renee who did it.
As Renee was hit with life changing news, she is waiting to sharing it with Weston but upon his arrival he accuses her of being a thief, get her kicked out of the apartment she is staying in, makes her lose her job and gets her arrested. Talk about life altering.
The story ends in a big cliff hanger where Renee ends up making a deal with the devil from her past.
Cat’s Stats MMC/FMC- Weston and Renee Genre- Sports Romance (hockey) Length- 71 chapters. Bring a chair. Heat- ☢️☢️☢️☢️☢️ The hate Zex is spectacular Series? Y; Duet Safety? Y Triggers- violence, language, explicit erotic content Tropes- Enemies to Lovers, Hunckson and Chantilleee, Hate Zex, Surprise Pregnancy, Dysfunctional Family FTW, Wrongly Accused, Workplace Romance Mewsings What I liked- The zexytime was insane. And I liked the friendships she had with other women. This book was never boring. What I didn’t- wow, he really is an alphahole and it’s too OTT. The story didn’t need so much of it. We got the idea. I don’t like duets in general. I think they are a sign of lazy editing. Both of these books had some scenes that were filler and could have been edited out to make a tighter book. Or to make it a single volume instead of a duet. I’m on the fence whether to give this book three or four stars. I’m going to give it 3.5 and round up to a 4.

Dual POV, enemies to lovers, workplace, reformed playboy, he falls first, grumpy/sunshine
Book 1 of a duet, not a standalone, ends on cliffhanger
First let me say, it's rare when any author writes a duet and releases both books at the same time. And I'm crazy impatient, so I'm already excited. This is the third duet I've read by Mariah Wolfe, and she's becoming one of my favorite sports romance writers. I love the characters she writes, the plots are always a little more than sports boy meets girl, they bang, cue romance, and the cliffhangers always have me clamoring for the next book.
Renee is so great, I love that she can give it right back to Weston and doesn't back down when he's being a punk. Weston definitely has his issues to work out, but I love it when the guy that fights against the feels the hardest is the hardest to fall. That cliffhanger had me so angry though! Can't wait to read the second book and see how this story ends.
Red Line Ruin is the first book in the Los Angeles Firebirds Hockey duet by Mariah Wolfe. Having read both books prior to writing this review, I am in the place to say that I wouldn't recommend the duet because the second book is a disaster. This one was good and it got me hooked, but I ended up disliking the second one and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Weston ended up not being the man I thought he was, which started by the time the book ended. The secondary characters were interesting and I would like to read their stories. Too bad that they disappear later on. The story could have ended in this book and things would have been great. The next book could have been about Renee's best friend and everyone would be happy.
OMG 😱 this was the best story I have read before. This cover just at me when I was looking at and he caught my attention. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t even put it down. Renee and Weston relationship was sexual tension between as their chemistry was spicy pepper on fire. Weston a was sexy hockey player and she was a beautiful woman who was too hot to handle as the temptation was intense. As the urge was strong with a little of fun on the side. I definitely recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion. Trina Jones

This is a fun and entertaining enemies to lovers romance. Weston and Renee have a lot of push and pull and their witty banter is great. Weston is a little too much of an OTT alphahole. Just when I was starting to like him a little he ruined it at the end of this book. They did have some great moments in this book and I love the way their relationship developed. I can't wait to see how Weston will fix the giant mess he made at the end.

I knew I was going to love this book and it did not disappoint. Weston is cautious and quick to judge where Renee is just looking for a fresh start. These two make the perfect enemies with intense tension. This has to be one of the craziest cliffhangers I have ever read. Cannot wait to read the next one!

This is a fun and entertaining enemies to more story about Renee and Weston. They first meet when she is moving in to her friends condo. The meeting does not go well, with him being a douche, her witty, snarky remarks and not to mention flying panties. Sparks fly in this romance! I enjoyed how this story develops and the relationship grows between the characters. I was glued to this book until the very end.
This book was good I did like the back and forth between the main characters and their chemistry. The spicy parts were spicyyyy and would definitely recommend. I just don't feel like it needed to be 2 books. All the secrets on Renee's part were so unnecessary. They weren't that big of a deal for her to act that way. It was kinda annoying. I will be reading the second book just to finish it.
I enjoyed reading this book. Once I started reading Red Line Ruin, I didn't want to put it down. The characters are great and the storyline grabbed my attention from the start. I don't want to spoil this book for anyone so I won't go into details. The book summary provides a good summary. I recommend reading this book. This is the first book in the Los Angeles Firebirds Hockey.

The banter between the characters is the first thing I would like to acknowledge! The banter is fantastic! It really adds to the story! It's like Weston and Renee are on the same page with what they are thinking and saying!! This fast-paced story is very well written and has the perfect amount of spice!!!
