Philip and Jenny stole the hearts of the readers in this romantic story. The story is a slow pace story, but it’s filled with exciting entertainment. The writer did a wonderful job of writing a story about second time around love and romance. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Unforgivable Duke
Undukes Series Book 2
Anna Markland
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Philip Fortescue, Marquess of Clavering, is a known hero of Waterloo. But he is also a very dedicated physician who's doing everything he can to help with eradicating smallpox. The thing is, he is also secretly a spy for the British Crown.

Jenny Saxton has been madly in love with Philip from the first moment they met. The feeling is mutual, but Philip doesn't want her exposed to the dangers he faces on his mission to thwart an assassination attempt against the Prince Regent.
Complicating matters further is Philip’s parents' opposition to him marrying a commoner. As far as they are concerned, their son will not marry beneath himself.

Derrick Peploe (Alex's exiled cousin) has returned from France, and he's as determined as ever to kill Philip’s lifelong friend Alex, the Duke of Harrowby, and his family. When Derrick finds out that Philip is working for Whitehall, he sets his murderous sights on him as well.

Now it seems nobody is safe from this madman, but will they catch Derrick before it's too late, or will he kill someone Philip cares for first?

Anna Markland is absolutely brilliant. This series is one of the best I've read in this era so far. Just like the first book, it didn't even take a page before I was drawn right into the story. I really enjoy the fact that it's about sisters that are by all means commoners, yet they are able to find love with forward-thinking Dukes that don't care where you were born or if you are titled or not. I thought for sure that I wouldn't like Philip’s parents, but they soon turned out to be wonderful people themselves. Jenny and Philip are great main characters that have so much love for each other that you can't help but love them. It's always great to visit with the sisters as they seem really down to earth and even care for other women who find themselves pregnant and unwed. No matter who they are. All in all, I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one to come out.

WHAT A STORY! I will now be going back to read book 1 of the series. I was not lost starting out with this one. After reading in this story about the H from book 1, it was emotional to read what tragedy happened to him, that I NEED to read Alex's story.

So many twists and turns will leave you exhausted. I looked at my ereader at over 50% and was surprised I was only 1/2 through. Not because I was bored or it dragged - far from it, but so much had already happened I couldn't believe I had more to experience.

Strong H who isn't all he appears to be. He is the son of a Duke, a doctor but also a spy which he can't divulge. He has been in love with the h, but because of threats from his father, he backs away.

The h has also loved the H and is heartbroken how he breaks things off. Slowly the truth comes out before it's too late. You will get whiplash how quickly he has an epiphany that he can't do without the h.

A very nasty villain who causes so much harm. Another aspect of this story someone is out to kill not only the Prince, but the H's best friend. Someone from the slums helps the H and it is revealed he is the son of a Duke also, but was born on the wrong side of the blanket as they say. His story was very interesting too, and I hope book 3 is about him and the h's sister.

Lovemaking within marriage - heat level 4.5 out of 5 and described many times. Since I felt a connection to this couple it was filled with passion and love.

Story has suspense, sadness, engaging secondary characters, HEA, romance, steam, no cheating and no cliffhanger. An epilogue about 1 year in the future that was sad and sweet at the same time. (ljb)

Unforgivable Duke picks up where Book 1 Unkissable Duke leaves off. Where Alex and Eliza were the story last time , Phillip is Alexis best friend and Jenny is Eliza’s sister . Now there story is told . What a Tale it is. It is not only a love story , but the evil cousin is back in full force adding suspense and intrigue. Lots of things happen ,leaving you waiting for Sister Amelia’s Story to unfold next.
Phillip Fortescue the Marquess of Clarvering / heir to Duke of Wentworth met the Love of his
Life Jenny Saxton when her sister was involved with his best friend Alex Harcourt the Duke of Harrowby. He is a man with many facets. Noble, War Hero, Doctor, Spy , to name a few. She was a Commoner , but educated well. His family was not happy with the relationship.
They might be The UnDukes series , but they are The Saxton Sisters stories also. A great combination of both to make these Wonderful , Exciting, Captivating Tales.

Phillip Fortescue, Marquess of Clavering is known well in the government offices as a hero, but his work is not known to the general public.  He has been tasked to use his position as a physician to discover the people who are stirring up trouble amongst the lower classes.

Miss Jenny Saxton has had her heart broken, but as the man is the best friend of her new brother in law, there is no way to avoid him.

The political climate in this era could prove explosive. The background of our heroine and the sympathy of our hero make this a somewhat unusual historical romance. This is the second book in the series. While you could enjoy this one on its own, I personally think it is better to read them in order. The main villain in particular is a very important character in both books. Also who the lead characters of the next book are obvious in this one.

I will definitely be reading the whole series.

Great fun.

This is not a book I shall remember. When you read the bare bones of the synopsis: a potential attack on the Regent, a spy, a cousin seeking revenge, the continued healing of a wounded Waterloo hero, it should have been an exciting book full of adventure and suspense. In fact, for me at least, it was very pedestrian. As the story unfolded there was nothing unpredictable. I realise that this was not meant to be a thriller but a regency romance but I could not warm to Philip or Jenny. Even the arch villain was inept. The last 50 pages or so, especially those describing in detail the Regent installing the new duke were tedious and felt like padding in order to get the required number of pages I think there is an interesting story to be developed between Warrick and Amelia if Ms Markland succeeds in describing the rags to riches changes in Warrick's life and combining them with a love for innocent, gentle Amelia. I hope she does

This is an outstanding second in a series story! Just like the first one "Unkissable Duke" it is a stand alone, but the characters are intertwined in the two stories, which I really do like, it is a continuing of the story to a certain extent. The storyline is unique to this page turning story and it is filled with a lot of intrigue, mystery, drama, action, romance, and some twists and turns, as there are a few things that happen in it, that you really didn't see coming! The characters are wonderful, their development is continued at an outstanding level in the story. It is very well written and you are drawn into the espionage and all the rest right away, you won't want to put it down until you are finished!! Anna Markland is one of those authors that I look for stories by, as I always know I am in for an excellent read!

What an interesting and exciting story of a man, Phillip, in love with Jenny, and in trying to protect her and her family, walks away from her. The reader can feel the love between these two just flow through the pages! Add to that, the villain doing all they can to destroy them and you have a thrill ride of a story. Though I thought the showdown with the villain could have been a little more exciting, it was an interesting, somewhat funny and heartbreaking end to the scene between Phillip and the villain. I loved how Jenny stood up to those trying to keep Phillip away from her, even Phillip! The author’s notes at the end were very interesting. I especially loved the scene with the Investiture. Loved that bit of history!!

I received this ARC copy for free and these are my own opinions.

Whenever I pick up an Anna Markland book, I always know that I'm in for a great read. "Unforgivable Duke" is Philip and Jenny's story and it certainly doesn't disappoint. Between the intrigue, danger, suspense and betrayal, it really keeps you on the edge of your seat. Then there is the love and heated passion between Philip and Jenny that will curl your toes:)

I also enjoyed seeing the characters from the first book be part of this second book, Alex and Eliza have a special place in my heart. As for the villain, Derrick Peploe, I wanted to get into the book and bop him one on the head myself! lol All in all, a very good solid read and I now look forward to the next book in the series!!

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Too Many Subplots

I have mixed emotions about this one. While I was connected to all the main characters from the previous book, there was too much going on in this book. Jenny was frustrating in the beginning of the book making irrational decisions. Finally, toward the end she decided to trust the judgment of the man she loved. I’m glad that Derrick Peploe was finally killed, but there almost seemed to be 3 different plots within one book. I’m glad there was ultimately a happy ending all the way around, but I think I’m more excited to see what is in store for Warwick and Amelia.

Very well written, character depth and so detailed it's like watching a movie as it unfolds. Intense and suspenseful with ladies bold enough to be frank. I was enraptured and read this none stop, emotional, steamy with society rules not overtaking true love. I love it when a series can connect previous characters and happenings as well as add new exciting things and clean up some old skeletons. I received a free copy and voluntarily chose to leave this review.

Wonderful story of Philip Fortescue, Marquess of Clavering and Jenny Saxton. Philip and Jenny started a relationship but were torn apart by duty and family. Sure she will never forgive Philip, Jenny has decided she will simply spend time with her family. Loved these characters and the intrigue. Part of Undukes series, and characters from that series visit, but can be read as standalone. Highly recommend.

We get to see how Phillip and Jenny manage to get together after he originally left her for family duty. In this we see him as a spy trying to save the regent and finding a killer sneaking back in the country. There is plenty of action and intrigue along with romance. The characters are well developed such that you actually dislike a few of them. It can be read as a standalone but it is nice to find out what previous characters are doing.

Full of intrigue, espionage and historical knowledge, this second book in this series is just as good as the first!

Phillip is a marquess, doctor and spy. He is working on a cure for smallpox and is focused on his work. Jenny is a commoner who has been in love with him forever.

As these two try to come together, forces try to keep them apart, but love will always find a way!

Aristocrats

Phillip was a hero at Waterloo, dedicated physician & spy for British Crown. He and Jenny fell in love at first sight! A beautiful romantic love story filled with adventures!

This wasn't a romance, this was a war novel with some mystery in it.

I missed the romance, feeling the attraction between the h and H. Lots of adventure but not enough romance.

Another good story in this series. The thread of intrigue, and danger give this romance depth and makes for a fast paced read. The story can stand alone, but reading the previous book puts a lot of the events into better perspective. I love the crossing between social classes as well as the way the author weaves historical events (with some artistic license) into the story, defining some of the issues the classes were facing at that time.
