Working Out West is book three in the Polished P & P series by Lila Rose. I’ve loved this series from the first but I have to say that this one surprised me the most of the series. While it starts out with the most adorable inner dialogue of West’s, the story takes a drastic turn as events unfold. So hold on tight for this one, everyone.

West Millbrook is in I believe his senior year of college. He’s struggling to stay afloat financially so has taken a job as an escort for Polished P & P. He is an escort only. There will be no other activities involved. West is gay. And due to his very religious and overbearing parents, he left home as soon as he was able. They don’t help him at all with financial support. West considers his family to be his friends, Lucas and Wade, and Kylo and Saint.

Adrik Hail left his Russian mafia family behind to start a new life. He owns several casinos and other businesses. Adrik has no interest in dating anyone and is tired of people wanting him just for his money. But he is lonely. So he decides to hire someone from Polished for occasional company. Little did he know that when his first “date” showed up, he would be completely smitten.

The attraction is definitely mutual. West is completely taken with the sexy Russian. But he’s sure the feelings are just one sided. Would it be better to end their scheduled appointments due to his developing feelings?

“He was handsome. He was scary. He was gruff. Sweet. Reserved. Funny. But never would he be mine.”

Life takes a drastic turn, though, when danger finds West. The unthinkable happens. But through it all, Adrik is there, by his side.

“Adrik was my rock. My strength. He was my knight in shining armor. He was a light in my darkness.”

How could I not love this book? West was adorable and sweet and stole my heart. Adrik was broody and protective, swoony and sexy. I loved the way their connection was instant but also grew slowly if that makes sense. My heart was in my throat during much of this book. I was completely shocked the author went where she did.

You can read this as a stand alone, BUT, the characters from the first two books are recurring so you would miss the connection between all of them. Plus, the first two books are also amazing. I think your emotional attachment would be deeper if you read them in order. I don’t know if there are going to be more books in this series or not. I have loved this series so I hope there might be. I would love Dimitri’s story! No matter what, I am so glad I decided to take a chance on these. I hope you will too.

I think I'm being generous giving it 2 stars.
This was a hot mess.
Bikers, Russian mafia, religious hatred, male escort all mixed up.
It turned out cheesy as hell, predictable, unrealistic and boring.

I was not prepared for this book! My emotions are raw after finishing this one and I needed the rest of the night just to gather all of my thoughts and feelings. The story took a complete turn from where I thought it would lead but I loved it and it had me falling for these characters so hard. I just wanted to give West a hug and make everything better for him but seeing Adrik take that roll was even better.

I absolutely loved Adrik and how he was with West. Their attraction was so strong and I really liked that even though they both tried to fight it at first, they just couldn't. It was a very real and adorable relationship that had me captivated. And when things got even more complicated between them it only had me loving their characters even more.

Overall, this was a surprisingly deep and emotional story but it was also a very cute one. I was dying for this story from the moment I read the ending of the previous book and I can now say that it was well worth the wait.

ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.

This series is still super OTT, stereotypical and full of cliches, but weirdly it's addictive the more you read and I'm actually going to miss these characters!

West's story itself is totally different to Lucas and Kylo's - there's a lot related to religion, sins, and parents who should never have had children. Adrik is your stereotypical Russian businessman but he's just as protective and overeactive as Wreck/Wade and Saint/Zion.

I do kind of wish that this book hadn't revolved around recovery from an injury again, like in book two, because it did kind of feel like I'd already read that kind of story, yet there were enough differences for it not to be identical. I just would have liked to see West getting his HEA by being more decisive and letting people into his life, rather than having his parents do what they did....

Will definitely miss these guys though, they've kept me company through a bad cold where my brain isn't wanting to read anything complex 😂

We get an inside peek at West and Adrik's dates for the escort company. They get along well and have instant feelings, that scared West away, but Adrik isn't giving up. West is his "one."
West, 24, a blonde with topaz eyes,

has just moved in with Lucas and Wreck to save money. He's in college to be a doctor.

Adrik, older, tattooed muscled and Russian with a sexy accent,

has separated from the Russian Mafia, and runs different businesses.
We see the inner thoughts of West, his awful parents and school pressures, and Adrik's thoughts and
worries, plus we see how they interact.
When West suddenly disappears, it's the Diamond MCs and Adrik and his crew who are diligently searching for West.
Adrik is the one who hears, and then saves the day. (be advised, West's torture is graphic and horrible).

It is shocking, and Adrik and the men rescue him and Adrik is constantly by his side. Justice is swift for one, and long and painful for the other.
Your heart will ache for the pain that was delivered and the incredibly hard road to recovery. It is a slow burn of love, patience and understanding, which is given from the deeply devoted and strong men, especially Adrik.

The Motorcycle Club men and Adrik's folks give West what he needs, even if he doesn't want it, they are steadfast and caring.
This is a fantastic book of survival and commitment. The characters are marvelous.

The evil of the kidnappers is hard to take, as is the torture, but justice is met.

I enjoyed this rough journey to love and happiness.

3.5 stars

West is about 23 years old and he's studying medicine. His parents are religious and very homophobic. He's gay but they don't know, he left home and is paying his own way through school because they don't approve of him leaving home when he could be still living under their thumb and attending church with them. He's struggling to make ends meet even with scholarships. He takes on a job as an escort in a business run by the motorcycle club his friends are associated with. He's dipping his toes and and he's doing non-sexual escorting. His first client is a mysterious Russian man named Adrik, who's older and quiet. But it's soon clear to the reader that he is very clearly obsessed with West.

After a few weeks of occasional dates, West quits Adrik as a client because he's falling for him and he needs to protect his heart. Adrik doesn't want to let him go, but he is too busy with his life right now to actively pursue West, so he just has a protective detail assigned to him because he wants to make sure he's safe. In that time though, West is abducted by his religious parents and forced into conversion therapy and he is extremely traumatized by what goes on. After he's rescued by friends and Adrik, West and Adrik are basically living in each other's pockets as West recovers and they open up to each other about their feelings. This is a really slow burn book actually low spice too. They don't really talk about their feelings or kiss until 77% and first sex at 89%. There's a nice epilogue 2 years later.

This was a nice enough story. It's medium to high angst when you're thinking about the conversion therapy and abuse. But as far as the actual relationship goes between the two mmcs, there's no relationship thanks between them, they're both very emotionally invested and vulnerable with each other. There's no other man or other woman drama. I liked the side characters, their friend group was very supportive and added some nice humor. I enjoyed silent and grumpy Adrik.

I wish that West and Adrik had kissed before West quit him as a client. It would have made it more believable and realistic for Adrik to be as obsessed as he was and to continue pursuing West. I would have liked their connection to be deeper and more romantic before the big gap in their relationship, before Adrik made his reappearance to save West.

Some notable moments:

Adrik was so quiet. It was cute how excited West was when he would say a full sentence. "“My family is in Russia.” Fuck me in the dark. That was a sentence. I wanted to pat him on the back and say, “Good boy,” but I knew it wouldn’t go over."

Lucas trying to complain about his loving but nosy parents to Kylo and West, who both had extremely abusive parents who caused them such harm and ended up needing to be killed, is so hilariously awkward. "“You can’t help who your parents are.” He smiled. “Wait until you meet mine. They’re a bit overbearing.” He winced. “But probably nothing like what a mob boss is… or what West’s were like… and I’ll shut up now.”"

Lol to Dimitri coming along for the honeymoon. "“He gets what he wants in the end, and the clubs he bought are thriving. We’re looking at taking a month away for our honeymoon.” “Just you, Adrik, and Dimitri?” Kylo smiled. I shrugged. “Probably. Though, knowing Adrik, he’ll take a couple of other men.”"

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

Sweet sweet baby Jesus I NEED more.

Adrik and West stole my heart. With zero doubt in my mind they are absolutely my favourite couple and to my surprise it didn't have as much to do with the romance aspect of this book because this is one hell of a slow burn. In terms of Lilas other two stories in this series.. this one could very well be considered a clean romance up until the last 30%. But it's the story telling for me. The way Lila builds this clear picture of who these characters are just had me so completely enthralled. I started it late with all the intentions of just taking a peak. I didn't finish it until an ungodly hour and I have zero regrets.

WARNING!!!!! this story contains scenes that are horrific. There is no nice way to put it. If you have triggers with regards to abuse- not rape- but physical and mental abuse of the cruelest form then please be mindful going in and ask someone about it first.

West, sweet West. Ah it's the innocence for me. He's so freaking special. Even after growing up in a strict home, he's still so humble and sweet. So kind and quick to see the good. The mumbling rambles when he was near nervous. The blushing and uncertainty. The kindness ... everything about West had me charmed.

Adrik.... this man is a whole damn shnack. Dammit, I want one. His lack of chat had me so fucking curious and let just say the man is full of surprises. Silent but deadly would be an understatement. It's the Russian endearments for me. The fact he wouldn't tell West what he was saying... ahhhhh!!!. So fucking hot. But also just the sweetest. Despite his godly stature and sinful mouth it was the way he handled West with so much care and love. Even from the beginning.

Their story is uniquely different from the rest because it's such a slow burning romance with so many different layers that I didn't see coming. I was so completely invested in their journey and the progression of these characters because were they came from is so different to where they ended up. The curiosity, the burning of tensions.. the uncertainty. Those honest moments of insecurity. The need and want. The forbidden unknown. The undoubtable love. Everything about Adrik and West screamed they where made for eachother despite being so different in spite of the many obstacles. Their journey had moments of uncertainty, sheer heartbreak and despair. Moments that made me feel so much pain it literally took my breath away. Those moments as much as they hurt defined their journey and made it into something so much more because their love became about so much more.

“You are beautiful. Even with your scars, moya lyubov’. One day you will believe me.” My love. Those words shot an extra pulse to my chest. “You undo me, Adrik.”

Ahhh. I can't even. Their journey is so authentically them, the good.. the bad.. and the ugly. Everything mattered in some way and nothing was over shadowed. It's a love story in the most unconventional circumstances with all the feels. I swooned, I laughed and I was on the edge of my seat waiting in anticipation. I cried like a baby and shouted in anger. I felt relief and hope and by the end was so freaking happy. The only thing I will say is I would have like more of West and Adrik together. I feel like that the only thing that I was a little sad about.

The side characters of it all!!!. I better get Dimitri. He better get a damn story or I'm going on strick. It was so good to be back with the guys of P&P and the club. The chemistry between them all is like nothing else's. From great support systems to banter and bickering... these guys are just the best.
Oh and can we just have a round of applause for Adrik's parents. I want them too.

At the risk of spilling everything I'll leave it here with this...
This book is just perfection for West and Adrik. I feel like Lila really did their story justice without changing who these characters are. So freaking good.

I was really hyped for this book because rich, protective and smitten Russian businessman and his male escort sounded awesome. I was so ready for the Pretty Woman (But gay) but it ended up being a garbled mess.

There were a lot of different plot points thrown in but they didn't feel fleshed out. Particularly the first half ended up feeling extremely rushed and seemingly important character moments happened off-screen, were glossed over or skipped entirely.

I think if the author had cut the cartoonishly evil villains as a plotline (or made the plot involving them less OTT and more believable) and focused on building the relationship between the MCs more slowly instead, I would have enjoyed this book much more.
Instead, it felt rather OTT and cheesy (like the rainbow flag waving Russian mafiosi).
There were some fun moments though (like the scene with Wreck as a stand-in father somewhere in the last third), and I think the book could have been very enjoyable if not for some questionable decisions on the story's direction.

So this was not my favorite of the series. I'm not exactly sure what it was, but I didn't really see the connection between West and Adrik.

Trying to throw in the Russian mafia pitch didn't work well for me either. Because you don't get out of the mafia, but yet Adrik just walked away from it. Yeah, I'm not buying it.

What happened to West in this book was horrible. No one should ever have to go through that. I'm so glad he has such a great relationship with Kylo and Lucas.

I did enjoy getting to see more of the other couples throughout this book.

2.5 stars (rounded up, because I finished this and I did enjoy some of the moments.)

I only liked the first and the last 1/3 of the book. Wow, I must say it's kind of fail for me... It's okay, I guess you can't satisfy everyone. The first kiss in this book is in 81% kindle loc. But who's counting right? Lol. I don't really like with the parents drama. Sigh, my head hurts...

I am waiting for Dimitri's story. 😍😍😍

I think West and Adrik were my favorite couple of the Polished P & P books (so far?).

Whereas Lucas and Wreck were a mixture of cuteness and alpha, and Saint and Kylo a mixture of badassery; West and Adrik had a bit of everything.

West was that cute bumbling, trip over himself and blush at everything type of a character. Adrik was the quiet, broody alpha character. There was instant attraction to each other and little angst. I appreciated that this book focused more on an actual plot. There was focus on the two together, but in the midst of their developing relationship there was tragedy. Something brutal and horrific that affected West as a person. It wasn’t until West could recover from that, that he could truly be with Adrik. I appreciated that too. The other books were fast burn, lots of sex and just instant “we are together and you’re mine” lines. This book was a bit slower in development and much sweeter. Loved these two.

Kind of hoping now for a book about Dimitri. Also, Death. Although I feel Death’s would be a M/F but I would read it. ☺️

I hope there will be more books in this series. (Spin-off series would be great) Death needs his story and so does Dimitri. I really liked the slow burn romance between the heroes and really loved this series as a whole. This book had more angst and red-bloodied revenge in it, and surprisingly, I was good with that...LOL. I loved the epilogue and hate to see this series come to an end.

Omg yall...

Ok so, in the previous books we had an MC club, brothels, beatings, killings, and drama. We have all of that here plus the Russian mafia and parents who tried to cure their son of the gayness. I loved every bit of it.

No, don't think about the fact that all this is happening, just go with it.

The best thing was that this one did not have a gfy trope.

Working out West by Lila Rose is book 3 in the polished P & P series. I have absolutely loved reading the first two books but this one... this one took a hold of my heart and didn’t let go. Wow!!!! I’m stunned speechless. This story was not just beautifully written and presented but was just brilliant.

West is a character we get to know a little from previous books being friends with Kylo & Lucas. I couldn’t wait to read his story , getting a better understanding of who he was, more in depth knowledge of what make him tic and his background. Annndd ... I couldn’t wait to hear all about the Russian god that was Adrik Hail .

These two men met while West is working for P & P as an escort, getting paid for taking men on dates , he is not selling his body , just his companionship. It sounds easy right? Until he meets Adrik and those pesky unwanted feelings start to develop and West is scared enough to want to run.

What happens next is nothing short of heartbreaking. I had tears in my eyes and pain in my heart from the vile and vicious acts done to one of the guys we have come to love had to endure. The devil has two faces and when those faces are meant to protect and love unconditionally... the betrayal and heartbreak felt is that much more devastating to ones very soul.

This story was everything. I could not put it down , consumed by the love, the beautiful friendship and the hero’s that just wanted to help heal the broken heart and body of one of their own. Adrik and West will forever have a place in my heart. This deserves more than 5 stars . It’s a MUST READ. You won’t be sorry you got this book, it’s so good.

I loved the first two P&P stories, but this one felt... rushed. Adrik and West see each other three times for an hour and a half and they’re basically in love? I wish there were more dates between them, even if they were off page. It just didn’t feel believable.

Then things start progressing with the plot, there’s some drama (about 35% in), then some mafia and motorcycle vengeance, then some recovery. It felt a little formulaic, and I usually like that formula, but again, it just didn’t feel genuine to me. I don’t think I connected to the characters or the plot that well.

It was well-written and had some favorite secondary characters. If you’re a fan of the P&P books I’d recommend it, but it was probably my least favorite to date by the author.

I'm giving this a 4 as this is by far the most interesting one out of the three, but there are some buts.

For starting, I love how at last the author decide to make something actually happen! And not just for a brief 10% of the book, but something that starts early in and affects all the story. BUT I can't help but notice the irony of this book's synopsis being the one who promises less action and more romance and it being the other way...

The books starts sweetly, with us meeting the already mentioned Aldrik, West's first client for whom he's falling. We get to witness some of their dates and then that moment we read during book 2 where Aldrik calls Saint to discover "Ben" won't meet him anymore.

One could imagine (me the first), the story would center on them meeting each other again and being true to each. But here the author surprised us and there's a massive twist that has West going through something terrible and the Diamonds MC and Aldrik himself seeking revenge. This was so interesting I couldn't believe what I was reading after the plotless first two books!!

As a con, I can't help but remark that the author neglects a bit the romance... While in the first two books she overlooks everything but the romance, here there's a little bit too little of this in favor of the rest. It's like she can't balance everything. With all, the romance feels pretty solid. As they fall in love during the paid dates, it feels believable that they feel so much for each other. Also, having into account what West goes through and that Aldrik is there for him all the time, I didn't get the inkling of it being too soon too fast.

As for the epilogue, it makes me think there won't be any more books in the series? It could be, but it's a pity that we don't get to know some of the intriguing supporting characters such as Country, State and obvs Death.

WoW....4.5 Wrenchingly Happy Stars

Ok...this book was much more together than the other two. Im not sure if its because of the torture or not but the plot will grab hold of you when you aren't looking.

Poor West.
I swear this kid didn't get a break. Growing up with fanatical parents as a gay kid is too rough. Its obvious from his POV that his parents had issues upon issues.

Poor Adick..
A man who has his own issues with his sexuality in his home country moves to the US to live his life away from his Mafiya father & brothers. I liked his discussion with his parents about his decisions on why he left. It shows his live of his family but also the need to be what he wants. Then he hires an escort named 'Ben' for company...& it all gets turned on its head.

Much better than the others Im shipping Dimitri & Death...D/D..lol

Phew this book was an emotional roller coaster. A little different from the earlier instalments, this one is a lot more plot heavy and less focused on the sexy steamy side of things. I was so emotional at some points I was almost crying - so trigger warning for those who have trauma/issues with queer bashing and religion.

As a queer woman who’s suffered backlash from religious family members when I married my wife this is usually the kind of content I steer clear off - it’s just too real for me, and I have to say Rose doesn’t shy away from her depiction religious homophobia. It’s explicitly evil, absolutely vivid in its nature, enough to make you sick to your stomach, but it works. You feel West’s agony viscerally, his betrayal and the subsequent trauma, as if it’s your own. And it means that Adrik’s helplessness but determination to stick to West like glue. His love dedication is this bright shining light of hope that splits through West’s rage and pain.

I also loved that the villains got what they deserved. Too often I find in LGBT novels that the focus is on forgiveness or just moving on (fuck that shit!). Rarely do we get karma punishing them - or in this instance a big burly Russian and a biker gang enacting justice.

It’s not what I thought it would be or even the type of book I was hoping for, but I really enjoyed it and I think Rose did a fantastic job with the subject matter.

I'm glad West got his happy ending. There was some serious trauma that her went through I. This novel at the hands of his parents. That anyone could be as cruel and use religion as an excuse to be so, is beyond me. Thank goodness for his friends and Adrik.

Working Out West (Polished P&P Book 3)

West Millbrook 23, works at Polished P&P as an escort for lonely people looking for company. This is the way he hopes to be able to pay his way through Medical School. Saint (Zion) makes sure his clients are not seeking anything other than company. It’s his way of taking care of both West and Kylo, (who also does the same kind of work,) as they are friends of his brother Lucas. Plus, of course, Saint (Zion) is in love with Kylo. All of the characters feature in Book 1 and Book 2.

Adrik Michaillova, 30, comes from a Russian Mafia family. He left Russia and his family business because he did not want to be involved in Mafia activities. He left with the consent of his parents, knowing that his two older brothers would to happy to inherit the businesses and continue the activities. His main reason is to be free to live his live as himself, a gay man. Russia is not a good place for him to live freely.

In America he has set up his own businesses, casinos and clubs, and they are thriving. He has his old school friend Dmitri as his right hand man, plus a team of trusted Russian security.

Feeling lonely for company he approaches Polished P&P and arranges escort services, strictly for company only. His first ‘date’ is with West Millbrook.

West arrives at his clients condo where Adrik has prepared dinner. During the course of the next 90 minutes, (the length of time paid for with the date) they ate dinner, played a game of chess and were smitten by each other. Secretly of course.

Both men are opposites in every way. Adrik comes from a very wealthy, loving and supportive family and has his own businesses. West is a struggling Medical Student, who couldn’t wait to get away from his ultra conservative and religious parents. They refused to help with college fees etc. and wanted him to stay living under their controlling ways. They were enraged when he got a scholarship into college and didn’t need their support when he got part time employment at Polished P&P.

However, Adrik continued to request West’s company on a fortnightly basis over the following weeks, neither of them requiring any thing more. Things changed when West found himself developing feelings for Adrik.

Needing to protect himself from a broken heart, he asked his Boss to find someone else to take Adrik as a client. This set off a chain of events that had disastrous effects on all parties concerned, not least, West himself.

I’ve read this series in sequence so far and I enjoyed all of the MC characters individual stories. However, the violence seems to have escalated in Book 2 and certainly here in Book 3. Given the nature of Polished P&P and Mafia business it could be expected. But even they were appalled at the cruelty and violence that they encountered.

Check at the start of this book for Trigger Warnings in regards to violence, fanatical religiousness and homophobic language.

There are several more books in this series featuring Polished P & P owners, Death, Country, Texas all of which appear MF rather then MM.

This book is AMAZING!
This has been one of my most anticipated releases ever and I was afraid it couldn't live up to my expectations but it knocked them out of the park! I couldn't even have dreamed up this story no matter how much I had tried!

West is the sweet nerdy guy who works as an escort (more a companion) where he meets Adrik. West is the sweetest guy and the things he says are hilarious!! I loved him from the moment the book started. He was even better in this book than the glimpses I had gotten of him through the series.

“My family is in Russia.” Fuck me in the dark. That was a sentence. I wanted to pat him on the back and say, “Good boy,” but I knew it wouldn’t go over.

Adrik is West opposite but also the perfect match for him! He is the silent broody type. He is the alpha male with a little danger around him and he is the guy who will make you swoon and make you dream about finding your own Adrik.

Together this couple was dreamy, exciting, lovable, and just absolutely perfect in every way! They are book couple goals if you ask me.

Who would have thought a job as an escort could lead me to the man of my dreams, but it had, and I would always be grateful.

This book gives you a little bit of everything and a whole lot to get caught up in. If you think you know what will happen in this book think again! Lila rose truly outdid herself with this one and I can't recommend it enough.

The book can be read as a standalone and there is no cheating or any kind of drama similar in it so even though West works as an Escort there is no drama in that he is more of a companion for people!
