The Gygax Odyssey: A Historical Fiction Novel Based on a Family Tale

Rate this book
Combining history, fantasy, and a tale from one of the world's greatest storytellers, Gary Gygax, The Gygax Odyssey takes you on a journey of betrayal, murder, pride, and shame in the ancient world.

Three brothers begin an odyssey. Along the way, they learn their connections to giants of history and discover a family curse. The murder of their grandfather sends the brothers searching not only for his killers but for three missing artifacts and the stolen family treasure.

If you think holding a tree-sized spear, wearing slabs of bronze armor, and hoisting a shield the size of a cart is a benefit, think again. On the battlefield, you become a magnet for arrows, slings, and spears. And whether in a melee or on the streets of the city you call home, challengers seek you out.

They might be on a holy mission to fulfill a prophecy. Or on a quest to climb the ranks in their tribe. Or just looking to earn bragging rights as the fieriest warrior in the region. It doesn’t matter to the big men. For they know, when it comes down to sandals on the ground, all the spearmen want is to kill a giant.

Luke Gygax relates his father's family fantastical tale of exile, fame, betrayal and survival From the Israelite invasion of Canaan to life under the assurance empire, the three Gigantos brothers solve a murder mystery and rediscover their true ancestry. You can see the gygaxian D&D adventure elements wherein heroes use their brains as well as brawn, solve clues, make friends and influence people. You'll find yourself rooting for them or you have no heart. Looking forward to the sequel.

Great Historical Fiction! Totally enjoyed the "behind the scenes " of how they used the History to write their story. :) Huzzah! On to the next in the series!"
