OVER 60% FIVE STAR RATING Major Clement Wisdom of SIS is sent to learn Morse Code and its Japanese equivalent, Kana Morse. But when a fellow student from the college is found dead and another missing, Clement begins to suspect espionage. While assisting the local police, Clement uncovers a network of enemy spies, fuelled by long held resentments and treacherous greed. In May 1942, three Japanese submarines entered Sydney Harbour. Their intention? To destroy the vast array of Allied ships in port. Or was there another reason…
In depth research, page-turning writing and memorable characters in stories with multiple twists and turns that never disappoint. With her central character, Clement Wisdom, from Book 1 to Book 5, V M Knox manages to bring an honourable gentleness to wartime stories which unflinchingly present dark deeds and horrendous events in plots that grip from the first to the last page. From Scotland to Australia, such is her description of place, that, as I read, I'm transported to the Reverend Major's side, seeing the world through his eyes and privy to his interpretation of events as they unfold. With "Code Name Sorrow" we have another intriguing read in this excellent series.
I have read of all the books by this lady and found this one, one of the best. There are not many authors who can produce stories which once you pick them up you cannot put them down. I look to reading the next instalment in the life of Clement Wisdom. Thank you.
