Eli wasn't a troublemaker.
This story is based on how people will decided the entire family is guilty of the father's actions even after the father's death. They quote Biblical verses to continue to prove their point.

A look at what a little hate can do to a small community. Eli’s father was censured by the Amish church for arguing with the elders about modernization. The problem became larger when the community saw the whole family as troublemakers without cause.

It was so sad how Eli’s family was treated by the people in his Amish community.
In the end he came out stronger than ever without having to fight back.

Forgiveness
