After two attempts to kill her in the span of minutes, tactical police officer Jina Wheeler is determined to find the man responsible. But when Detective Cole Roberts questions her about the remains of a missing man found on her parents’ farm, she realizes she’s a key suspect in the victim’s murder.
Cole senses Jina isn’t being entirely forthcoming about events that transpired twelve years ago, but these recent attempts to kill her force him to focus on the immediate threat against her. Putting his life and his career on the line, he teams up with Jina to uncover the truth. Can he also convince her to consider being his partner, forever?
This was a great read with nonstop action that pulls you straight into the story from the first chapter and doesn't let go until the end. This will leaving you guessing who is behind all the attacks on Jina. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline, and the plot had twists and turns.
Jina is done working out and heads outside when someone takes a few shots at her. Cole is a cop in a different precinct. Just as he was going to ask her something, he ends up backing her up while she tracks who shot at her. Since the attacks keep coming fast and furious, he decides to try and keep her safe, even though it seems to be a conflict of interest!
The pace is breakneck and the tone is intense with an action and character oriented storyline with only a few kisses and no steam. The characters are vivid and kickass! The Christian ideals are woven into the story. I can't wait to read the next one. Read this series in order. But, if you want to start at the beginning, read the SWAT Top Cop series in order (not sure if that is the correct series name), then Callahan Confidential series in order, then Finnegan First Responders in order before this series! Enjoy!
Another chapter in Laura Scott's continuing series the gives her readers the story of Rhy's police men and women. It is a good suspense novel featuring Jina. She's joined Mike's gym for late afternoon workouts. She also does boxing and the other make members feel she shouldn't be in the sport as it is made up of males at the gym. She lets them know that she excels at boxing and would prefer that they don't ask her out on as she's not interested.
There is always an element of surprise, and despite their attraction, the characters manage to keep it clean. I like also the fact that they're willing to make a commitment.
