Gazza’s wonder goal against Scotland. The ecstasy of the Holland match. The despair of penalties.
Twenty years on, Alex’s life is in turmoil. His girlfriend has announced that she’s pregnant, his boss wants to sack him, and Spurs have just blown the title.
He wants to go back to when life was simple … gaming all-nighters, weekend lie-ins and no responsibilities. So when he and his best friend, Pravi, find a way to jump back to 1996 whenever they like, he discovers a temporary haven to escape to.
He won’t get stuck there. He won’t miss the birth of his child. He won’t be able to change the result of the Germany match.
Will he?
Follow Alex on his fearful journey to impending fatherhood and re-live England’s Euro 96 campaign.
His future’s about to change forever. But will his past, too?
Andrew Males lives in Stevenage, south-east England with his supportive wife and a daughter who he reads to every night, usually something with dragons, dinosaurs or underpants.
26 Miles to the Moon is Andrew’s first book, and was inspired from running two gruelling New York City Marathons. Prior to this, Andrew dabbled with short stories in horror and sci-fi before settling on trying to make people laugh, even if he uses a cheap penis gag or two.
You can often find him reading or inventing stories on his commute to London, where he pretends to work as a business analyst while dreaming of how to make teleportation and time travel a reality.
Andrew hopes to go into space one day, if only to see how many Air Miles that would get him.
