Everything is coming up roses… Until murder rolls in. River cruise kitchen manager and amateur sleuth, Lorelei Baker has her hands full when a garden club group and a national bingo tournament group set sail on the Aurora.
Wrestling with petty bickering over who gets which meeting space onboard, Lorelei is figuratively putting out fires and she’s not even in the kitchen.
Just when she thinks things can’t get much worse, a body is discovered.
With a plethora of suspects and rumors galore, Lorelei digs into the matter, hoping to turn up the dirt. Murder isn’t a game, and with a murderer on board, she has to hurry, before someone else’s number comes up.
Can she play the odds and catch a killer? Find out in this exciting Cozy Mystery!
Who knew cruise ships could be so deadly, especially river cruisers? This is book 4 in the series and I have found them all to be entertaining, fast paced with likable characters. Lorelei is starting her life over following the break up of her marriage to a husband who not only cheated, dumped her and then managed to steal all of their assets. Whew!!
But due to connections from her cousin she has landed the job as kitchen manager aboard a river cruise ship. She has trepidations about the job as she has zero experience in that area. (Her cousin is part of another delightful series who runs a catering company).
This series has evolved over the 4 books as Lorelei learns her way around the kitchen, mastering and expanding her expertise not only in cooking and food prep but also in putting her past in perspective and embracing her new life style. And also solving a few murders along the way. Interesting characters and just maybe a new love interest. I am looking forward to more books in the series.
This shows as being the last book in this series. I do hope that Emma Ainsley decides to write more of these as they are fun to read. In this one, they have 2 large groups on board and try their best to make sure that both have their own space to hold their meetings, which is easier said then done. Every time these two groups get together, they break out in loud arguments that always come to blows. During a very big storm the captain tells every one they have to stay in their cabins or they can meein in small groups but no large groups. Once again, they come across a dead body on board and have to figure out who did it while trying to hold everything together during this storm.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I had a feeling whodunit too and for one of the same reasons Lorelei had a suspicion of who it was. As always, there was an awesome camaraderie among the senior crew members. These people were definitely like family to Lorelei now. No more worries for her about being alone or lonely again since she had such fabulous new friends. And Lorelei always ended up sleuthing out mysteries just like her cousin Carolina.
Lorelei returns from a break from the cruise ship with new inspiration of food ideas. Things become hectic with a group of garden club and a bingo tournament clash for attention and space. She’ll have to keep the peace between the parties but things will escalate when a body is found. It will be more than just a game to catch a killer before bodies piled up. It’s not smooth sailing in this delightful cozy read.
Lorelei embarks on another cruise on the river. She has the kitchen running smoothly and her new menu items are going over well. Then they find a passenger dead in a chair on the deck. Suspicion’s fly around along with rumors. With a surprise ending it is a fun read.
Things get out of hand pretty quickly when two groups board the Aurora. They seem to not antagonize each other right from the start and of course it only escalates further when one member of garden club is found dead. It was so interesting seeing how this one played out.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This is a series fun, unique storyline and keeps the books interesting. This book was a great addition to the series. And while that is all true, it’s the characters that really bring the book to life. There are of course the regular staff of the riverboat cruise line , but it is the eclectic mix of passengers that keep things fresh. A fun read!
Two big groups are on board the Aurora. A Gardening Club & a Bingo Club. Things get very tense and one of the members end up dead. Very good story. I am really enjoying this series.
I started this book this morning and finished it a couple of hours later. I really enjoyed it. I had an idea of who the murderer was and glad to see I was right.
