Each year, millions of these baseball fans engage in verbal (and sometimes physical) tête-à-têtes with the opposing base, and with only around 200 miles of terra firma dividing the two capitals of the "Empire" and the "Nation," this book provides the only well-constructed tutorial on how both tribes can peaceably coexist. Such a guide promises to save the reader from emotional distress, time-consuming arguments, and, most importantly, cleaning bills. (And if all else fails, the book makes a wonderful projectile
Yes, I picked it up, don't judge me. For what it's worth, I skimmed rather than read.
I giggled a couple times, simply because of the vocab definitions he used (a Pink Hat is, among other things, a fan who thinks that Kevin Youkilis is consistently booed). But Andy isn't as funny as he thinks he is.
Very funny, especially to a Cleveland Indians fan. I picked up pointers for poking fun at both Yankee and Red Sox fans in one sitting. Sweet!
Granted, this probably is more amusing to me because I know so many down in the mouth Red Sox fans, who have most likely been sad ever since team ownership made that spelling error when naming the team.
I mean, Sox? Really? What would their third grade teachers think?
Wasif's humor is sometimes intellectual, thus may be over the heads of both Yankees and Sox fans, but that can be overlooked when he gives helpful, simple suggestions for getting along with coworkers of another team persuasion.
I was amused throughout. And thought it might be a cute idea if you need a small gift for your favorite Bostonian; or that rare New Yorker with a sense of humor.
I saw a review for this that mentioned the reader was not a fan of either team. Why then pick up this book? For that matter, why pick up this book if you are a supporter of the Evil Empire, as it really says nothing favorable about the Yankees? Clearly, the book is strictly intended for citizens of Red Sox Nation. With that being said, I received this as a gift and found it moderately entertaining. Nothing to write home about, but it did provide some laughs.
The title may seem a little misleading but this book is actually pretty informational. I liked the comparison though. I would recommend this book to any red sox fan.
