hot and salty romance. She penned most of her contemporary romance stories in the car parked outside of wherever she had to take her kids for

are now off making their dreams come true.

I really liked the story line of Distracted but the main character in this one, wasn’t a hit with me.
Ryan Firestone is a great hockey player with major insecurity issues. I understand that he’s under pressure and has something to prove but his attitude towards the MFC aggravated me. He comes off as extremely entitled and selfish.
Farrell Eaves agrees to be in a fake relationship with Ryan to keep her parents off her back. They have no real relationship and don’t even really seem to know each other. He’s borderline verbally abusive to her, at times but gets nicer as he gets to know her better.
I suppose this could be seen as an enemies to lovers story but I don’t have a clue why Farrell would be his enemy. He seems to have major distain for her, just because of who she is.
I did enjoy the book, and it’s definitely worth reading but it wasn’t one of my favorites.

Tropes: sports romance, hockey romance, fake relationship, enemies to lovers,

Ryan and Farrell are fake dating each other, each for their own motives. Ryan to get ahead in his hockey career, while Farrell is in it to get away from her family. When Ryan gets traded to a team in Florida, Farrell goes with him. Although their arrangement starts off as fake, the closeness causes feelings to be developed.

Will they finally admit to their feelings with each other? Can they overcome their reasons for needing a cover and be a real couple?

The book has good tension and is engaging with the high emotions it draws out.

Let me just tell you my future husband is going to have a run for his money against the firestone brothers. I absolutely am not embarrassed that I finished Distracted in less than 5 hours….I did not ever think that she would be able to top Baggage( the first book) but here I am struggling to wait for book 3. Between Ryan and Farrell and their arguments, tempers, and inability to tell each other how they really felt and the amount of animals I couldn’t help but fall in love with them. Also let’s not forget the spice because mar mills it was chefs kiss🙌🏼. Jake let me know if you need a hockey wife because thanks to mar mills I need to be one now❤️

This book blew me away. I love the fake relationship trope but this one was on another level. The slow build and tension between Ryan and Farrell was an explosion waiting to happen. They both had way more in common than they knew. There was lots of secrets, drama, pain, and love. This was asuch a great book with so many emotions and endearing characters.

Farrell is a hockey princess bred for marrying into another hockey family to build a hockey empire but she doesn’t want any of that so she picks a hockey player that isn’t from a desirable family that’s just good enough to keep her parents off her back and with a fake relationship agreement she doesn’t have to worry about marriage. When he gets traded she goes with him and they fight back and forth about whether they’re building a new life together or not as they accidentally get closer and catch some of the dreaded feelings.

This book was good but I slogged through it. I can usually finish a book in a day or two and this one took me almost a full month. Good spice but I really really don’t like Ryan. They both need loads of therapy but Ryan is on a whole other level with his mental scars from the abuse and losses and his huge anger problems. He says and does the worst things and we’re just supposed to forgive him all the time, I don’t think so. In the end I wasn’t even rooting for them to be together, it was mostly just sad.

I liked this even more than the first one! In the first book I was on the fence about Ryan. But oh boy did I fall in love with his character in this one! You learn more about him and his own personal struggles and his feeling of guilt even though everyone agrees he has nothing to feel guilty about. Then there's the fake girlfriend Farrell. She was such an intriguing character. From the outside looking in you would think she had the perfect life. What a lie that is. Both Ryan and Farrell come to the agreement that they should pretend to date. Ryan wants to use her to rise in his hockey career and she wants to use him as a way to get away from her parents. The tension between the two main characters was superb. I love a good fake dating story but it has to be done right. And this absolutely was. The hidden feelings, the sexual tension and the inability to completely disregard their feelings was so good! The side characters were fantastic too. I loved Ryan's friend and colleague Jake. He was funny and pushed just the right buttons to help move their relationship along. I'd be interested in seeing more about him in the future. And Farrell's brother Sharp was interesting too and I bet there's more to know about him too. I know the next book isn't about either of them but I'm no less excited about the next book! If you haven't read either of these books yet you definitely should!

Ryan and Farrel have been in a fake relationship for 2 years, when he gets traded from New York to Florida. Ryan believes this will be the end of their relationship, but Farrel has other plans, and follows him to Florida.

As Ryan and Farrel navigate the new parameters for their relationship while out from under the control of Farrel's parents, things get interesting.

This was a great story, with good character growth. I loved Farrel's spirit, and I loved watching her overcome fears and really become her own person. Ryan was a bit annoying with how stuck in his ways he was, but I was glad to eventually see him move on from that.

I did find the writing style a bit difficult to read, but it could also have been related to the heaviness of the characters and their situation. I will be reading more of Mar Mills work to figure this out, because I definitely still enjoyed the story overall.

What I liked- Farrell’s love for animals was a beautiful thing. I also liked that Farrell wasn’t the rich rhymes-with-rich that she seemed like at the beginning of the book.
What I didn’t- the book was a little long and dragged out for my taste. A lot of it was repetitive angst.

Man, the relationship between Farrell, the FMC, and Ryan, the MMC, felt so real. The push-pull, arguments, flaring tempers, and inability or refusal to be honest and tell each other how they felt, just added to the realism I felt reading the book. Their fake dating turned more real than they originally thought, so surprise to them! The characters were wonderfully built and were a joy to read.

Great flow and the pace was just right, the details written were great, and that spice! Woo! Oh, man, that was fantastic.

Now I'm impatiently waiting for book three.
Thank you for the ARC, you're amazing.

This is the 2nd book in the series but can definitely be read as a stand-alone.
Fake dating is my ultimate favorite trope because they always fall for each other. This book isn't the typical fake dating that you are probably used to reading. Ryan and Farrell have quite the family story on both sides, which makes you understand how they are so closed off. I was not expecting to cry in a hockey fake dating trope book but hot diggity, I did. Make sure to read any TW the book may have because some topics are hit on that some seem to have an issue with.

Distracted was my first book by Mar Mills and I absolutely loved it. Ryan and Farrell's kept me reading to the very last page. I was quickly drawn into and invested in their story. Ryan is determined to create his own legacy apart from his brothers and he playing hockey in New York would help him achieve that. Until he got traded back to his home state of Florida. Farrell is a hockey princess as the daughter of hockey royalty. They both agree to a fake relationship but of course eventually feelings begin to feel real.

Wow. There's a lot to unpack here. This was a really good read - I couldn't put it down.
Ryan and Farrell are in a fake relationship, each for their own strategic reasons. Both are pretty broken and trying to escape family legacies, trying to be their own person. There's a push and pull between them as they work out what's really important.
This was a very engaging story with a lot of emotion.

I enjoyed reading this book, was definitely a page turner. Ryan got on my nerves sometimes, but his character was a complex one and I somehow always managed to forgive him. For those who love sports, (Hockey especially), and enjoy a good rollercoaster love story, this is a book for you.

The good: This book was a quick read. I enjoyed getting to know both the main and side characters. I loved the inclusion of foster animals. The overarching story was good.

The bad: The tension between the main characters - Farrell and Ryan - was good in some places, but almost unbearable in others. Their character growth was seemingly non-existent. There were were more bad moments than happy between them, and every happy moment seemed to end in an argument. The ending of the book felt extremely lackluster compared to the tension built throughout the story.
