“We face the obstacles head-on. Victory or death!”

-I give stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“If you truly love someone, the magnitude of their wealth, or the lack thereof, will hold little consequence on your feelings. The treasure is in the person, not the pockets.”

“I wanted Miss Scott to be free and happy, and I wanted to be those things with her.”

Saving Miss Scott, is a captivating and heartwarming story! There is depth to her characters and tender feelings/emotions weaved throughout! Watching Lady Rochester’s schemes escalate, and seeing Amelia greatly torn between safeguarding her dear family’s reputation and desperately protecting the man she has always secretly loved from a relentless monster was quite the journey for the heart!

“With you in my life, I am more than simply content.”

-This charmingly tender, and inspiring story is definitely a story to be on your radar, as it is worth the beautiful read! It will have you eagerly anticipating more to come in this dear series!📚🙌🏻🩷

"The greatest trouble with having good friends was, by my estimation, the persuading guilt to attend their house parties despite the lack of desire to do so."

I don't think the first words of a book have hooked me so completely since the first line of Pride and Prejudice😂  This first line from Saving Miss Scott had me grinning ear to ear and completely locked in.
Outside of Jane Austen I have never really been a huge fan of the "regency romance" genre (sub-genre? Idk) and especially the more contemporary ones, but Saving Miss Scott has changed my mind😊 Both the story and its characters are so relatable while maintaining a completely historically accurate feel.  The romance is so sweet and swoony (literally 😉) and will definitely give you all the warm fuzzies🥰 I also really appreciated the message of forgiveness found woven throughout the story. The author does a wonderful job of getting the point across without harping on the subject or being "preachy".
The only thing I could possibly find "wrong" with this book is that I struggled with the dual 1st person POV at first, but personally I think that's more of a me problem than anything else🙃 This was my first time reading a dual 1st person POV (as far as I can remember) and it just took a few chapters for my mind to adjust.
Overall, if you're looking for a sweet, clean (kisses only🔥) read to warm your heart this cozy season, look no further than Saving Miss Scott!

Oh do I love a Brooke Losee read! I love how effortlessly her prose flows, the depth of her characters and the ability to make me feel everything. And boy did I ever feel for James! Accepting an invitation from his friend Gregory, James was shocked to discover WHO would be attending, the very woman who jilted him. And poor for Amelia too. Both caught in the snare of the self serving, calculating and heartless Sabrina. As was Gregory, although, as affable as Gregory is, his gambling problem is not! His mother, Mrs Davis is a delight, a savvy and no nonsense persona, loved her. There is something extremely enticing about a regency romance, it's sweet and beautiful and the time period speaks volumes on "correct behaviour" I absolutely adore it. However, Ms Losee brings an extra element of charm in her storytelling, she inbues a richness to the story with a touch of humour. Too lovely!

Amelia is such a sweetie, so smart, even though she's caught between a rock and a hard place, she manages, for the most part, to thwart Sabrina from her devious plans, a case in point was the recital of a poem which made me laugh out loud! Ingenious! Her secret, she had hoped no one ever learnt of, is known by Sabrina. And guess what? Yep, Sabrina is using that to her full advantage! Grrrrrrrrrr! I DON'T like Sabrina at all! See? Ms Losee has me feeling animosity as well as warmth, she's THAT good! And then the good author turned it upside down yet again! Showing me how silly I was to be complacent in my assumptions....

There are few authors that evoke such a strong "feel good" in me, and as I mentioned at the onset, so effortlessly. Miss Losee might be the creator of this "play" but it's her cast, that she so lovingly chose, that do it the justice it deserves. From the stars of this magnificent tale, James and Amelia, to her supporting cast, Gregory, Grace, Rowe, Mrs Davis, and yes, even Sabrina take us through full acts, teasingly, tantalisingly, enticingly, with me hanging on to every word uttered from this exceptional cast, leaving me on such a high, I wanted to jump up and twirl around in joy!

At this point James just wants a quiet, uneventful life after the heartbreak and society intrigue he has been through recently. He knows he will need to find a wife eventually but he just wants some time to himself before the ton descends on him. He agreed to spend an extended amount of time with a friend, maybe find a book and hide in his room when the many become too much, and be on his way. However, all he can see is red when he finds Lady Rochester there, the same Lady who tore his heart out the first engagement. And as always, Miss Scott is in her shadow adding a witness to his anger and fueling any ill feelings he may have. After agreeing to stay he doubles down on his plans to hide but finds himself being aided by Miss Scott instead of her helping with Lady Rochester’s plans. And the more he notices her the more he realizes there may be something there and things are not as they seem. Miss Scott has her own reasons for helping the Earl, some just on principle alone while other reasons are for selfish reasons. Determined to make sure her sister has a better chance at a happy ending, she is willing to put up with Lady Rochester for now. But as the schemes continue she questions whether her happiness is worth the sacrifice as well.

As with most of Brooke’s regency stories, it is not my normal read but I just love it. I am not into regency romances and a lot of the society things I find tedious or silly. The secret that was controlling her life was one of those things but for that time I can understand why it would be so impactful to her. I love the author fleshes out her characters, they are believable people and feel real. The range of emotions from being silly, serious, and the romance are well done and I find myself engaged and enthralled with the story. I think that is one of the reasons I enjoy these books so much, they aren’t just romance and the pursuit of it but also have silly moments and serious ones. Outside of the leading characters I find I enjoyed the sister the most and the budding relationship I am sure we will get later in the series.

“I wanted Miss Scott to be free and happy, and I wanted to be those things with her.”

* That first line, though 😂
* Oh my gosh, poor guy
* The drama is already beginning!
* Um okay, hate her.
* Yes please to the longing right from the start!
* Oh I really really hate her
* She definitely read it
* Not the hiding again 😂
* The way I scoffed out loud. Stop being so dumb, girl
* Alright, I guess I don’t *hate * her
* Awwww yay!

Let me just put these quotes here first because they are fire 🤩

“Poetry could do with words what a painting could with color, stirring something within. Provoking thought and feeling.”

“We all have shortcomings,” she whispered. “If lacking them is the standard by which kindness should be bestowed, then there are none of us deserving of it.”

“For months, I had wondered if my failed engagements were the result of a fault, something about myself that I could not readily identify. But Amelia had loved me before my heart had broken. She had loved me even when I locked myself away from the world and wallowed in self pity.  She loved me now.”

Ahhh this book was so good! The story was so sweet and *most * of the characters were so lovable!

Amelia feels trapped and forced to do the bidding of someone who could ruin her reputation. But regardless of that, she is good and kind and I loved her interactions with James.

And James! My heart hurt for him. But I loved how much he wanted to help Amelia and I loved watching his feelings grow. So sweet and tender.

And the side characters are all so funny! Gregory? Grace? Rowe? Oh, especially Rowe. I literally cannot WAIT for his book hehe.

Anyway, I’m sure you don’t need any more convincing and you’re on your way to read this book!

Thanks to the author for the ebook, a positive review wasn’t required.

"Saving Miss Scott" is a lovely historical romance from author Brooke J. Losee! The setting is described with clarity that makes it easy for the reader to picture what the characters, clothing, and locations look like, as well as what is happening in the story. The characters feel three-dimensional and like real people. Amelia and James are such lovable characters! They were so fun to meet and get to know. The writing style is smooth, clear, and dazzling with wit, humor, and emotion. The story feels refreshing and different yet has all of the wit, banter, and emotion that I love reading in historical romance. This is a sweet and emotionally deep historical romance that anyone and everyone can and should read. It is such a fun story! I love Amelia's sister. The genuine care and affection between the two sisters feels authentic and is just so sweet to read about. The romance is sweet, swoony, and the chemistry and emotional connection between the MMC and FMC is perfect. I can't wait to read book 2! After reading the author's note at the end of the book I could not believe that this genre was new to this author. This book is amazing! If I didn't know any better I would think this author writes books in this genre all of the time. 5 stars! I really enjoyed reading! I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Thank you very much to the author for the wonderful opportunity of being a part of her ARC Team and providing me with both physical and digital copies to read and review honestly.

This book was soooo much more than I ever could've hoped for. I knew what I read about it sounded really good, but the characters, the plot, the author's writing, everything about it was just incredible. 🩷
I felt like it had a classic style feel, which I LOVED, like an Austen or even Dickens feel, but still a really easy read, for those who struggle with classics.
Amelia was really one to admire, she sacrificed everything for her sister, Grace, and went through so many struggles and held secrets to protect them both. James as well has his share of hurt, but I loved how together, they healed, forgave, and started something brand new, outside of cages. 🩷
I'm super excited for Grace's story, I related to her a lot with her health issues, especially with the struggle to not be stubborn with it. 😅
This was a very clean, VERY enjoyable regency book, full of humor and love and healing, and I highly recommend!!

Alighting from carriages to attend a month-long sentence to a house party of games and intrigue no one willingly agreed to play. Sabrina Perry, now a widowed Duchess, gathers secrets as weapons to use as manipulation, her own fueling the urgency for her current scheme to be successful.

James Blakely, Earl of Emerson, wounded after being cast aside by his betrothed, Sabrina Perry, for a loftier title. Most recently has had another failed marriage of convenience betrothal which he knows will have the Ton talking as much as the inner turmoil, self-doubts and memories plaguing him resulting in his continued unattachment. Using the gambling debts of Emerson’s closest friend as leverage, he is the sole guest aside from Sabrinas entourage. The very sight of Sabrina and Amelia fills him with anger.

Her companion, Amelia Scott, is more pawn than peer. Summoned from her respite, the mourning period of her father, she is restored to her position as Sabrinas shadow. With Sabrinas constant reminder of the evidence she possesses of a secret that could ruin her and most important, her sister's prospects, she complies with her Grace's orders.....mostly. She finds herself a bit rebellious, finding it difficult to endure and assist the Duchess' efforts to catch the man she loves a second time and trying to keep her affectionate cousin and guardian, along with her sister unaware of her gilded trap.

Such a fantastic regency read, I sunk into this story happily delaying other obligations to really absorb the characters. The unexpected ally turned friend to more, the loving sisterly relationship and the unexpected glimpse into the origins of Sabrinas calculating nature made for a great reading experience.

I loved this book! This is a new author to me and definitely is on my future book list. The story starts out with James, Lord Emerson. He has been spurned twice and is done with the ton and romance. When his good friend Gregory, invited him to a house party, at his country estate, he feels obligated to go. When Sabrina and Miss Scott arrive, James is amazed at the gall of his friend. How can he invite his former betrothed and her minion to the same house party. I was completely engrossed in this book. It had intrigue, suspense, drama, manipulation, but also loyalty, compassion and sweet swoony romance. This was the perfect paced story, it held my attention throughout, and the descriptions brought it to life. The characters were depicted so well, you were enraged with the villains and rooting for the rest. I am really excited to read more from this author. It is a clean, wholesome romance that I highly recommend!

With many hoops to jump through and many problems to solve, James and Amelia have a rough beginning to their love story. But that can’t stop love from blossoming even in the most adverse places.

Amelia and James have a lot of secrets to rifle through in order to be completely free to be with each other, but the author paints a beautiful picture of acceptance and love as the characters create a lasting relationship.

Saving Miss Scott is set during a month-long house party with a peculiar set of guests. Though James is reluctant to stay, his friend convinces him to remain for the duration of the party, which he ends up being grateful for once he begins to explore a relationship with Missy Amelia Scott.

Brooke Losee writes a fantastic story of two people gaining freedom as they come to realize their love for one another.

I absolutely loved this love story between Amelia and James and how they supported each other and overcame challenges together! Amelia’s family is so wonderful and caring and the Davis’s care for James is also super sweet. I also appreciated the complexity of the characters that were problematic. Brooke created a “villain” with depth and I am sincerely excited to see where she goes with this series (and hoping to see a complete redemption arc with a certain endearing side character)!

This is a super sweet and clean regency romance that I would recommend to anyone and everyone!

I loved this book! It had me hooked from beginning to end, so much so that I may or may not have read it all in one sitting...

I usually don't like books with a stereotypical mean girl but Sabrina's character was well written enough that I didn't find myself aggrivated by her beyond what we were meant to feel.

Speaking of well written characters, I really fell in love with Amelia and James. They are just too cute, the way that they support eachother and truely care for one another is heartwarming.

I also adored Grace and how she championed Amelia and James' love story. I can't wait to find out about her's in the next book!

I really enjoyed ‘Saving Miss Scott’. The pace was fantastic. Loose didn’t draw out the drama just because she could….and there was a lot of drama!
James and Amelia’s banter was fantastic and full of romantic tension. I was really rooting for them the whole time. They both deserved their HEA.
I feel like all the characters had fantastic growth. None of them were one dimensional, and I even felt some sympathy for the “villain”. Being a woman in Regency England would not have been easy.
‘Saving Miss Scott’ is perfect for fans of clean regency romances.

Oh, I loved this! It’s is a sweet regency romance and has a unique twist to the typical house party trope. The story revolves around a bad guy (well, girl) and her cruel and selfish manipulation of others. Both MCs are thoroughly misused by her and struggle to be set free of her hold. There’s great character development (even of the villain), and the romance is really well done.

Highly recommended!

Content:
There is no foul language, sex, or violence. The romance is limited to lightly descriptive kisses. There is no mention of faith or God.

Ok this was a pretty entertaining read.
The characters were great (there were several side characters I really loved). I always enjoy a regency that has both humor and sweet romance- this one had both!
I really felt for the characters…. even the “bad” ones.
I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is book 1 in the Apsley Family Series and can be read as a standalone. Saving Miss Scott is told through Amelia and James' pov and is a sweet story about finding healing through love and forgiveness.

CW: manipulation and blackmail
Spice: sweet kisses

James was first introduced in The Time Pearls Series and when the author announced that she wanted to continue his story in a new series, I was eager to read it. After his unpleasant experiences, James wanted nothing to do with love and wasn't interested in courting. When he's reunited with Lady Rochester and Amelia, he's forced to confront the hurt he had been holding on to. Similar to him, Amelia was trapped by a secret that left her hopeless about her future and sacrificing for those she cared for. Because of the past, there was a bit of tension between James and Amelia but he was quickly charmed as they spent more time together. I liked how protective they were of the other in their own ways and how Amelia encouraged James to forgive. It was beautiful to see both Amelia and James let go of the burdens they were carrying and confide in each other. Aside from their romance, the antagonist was greatly written and I loved Amelia's family. This was a great first book of the series and I can't wait to read more stories of the Apsley family.

This book was such a wave of nostalgia for me. I am not big on reading regency romances now but I read my fair share of Barbara Cartland years ago. And this book just gave me those vibes.

The book is very well written, with a great pace with likeable characters. I really liked Amelia and James' conversations and their banter, how witty yet respectable they were and how well James always tried to communicate with Amelia. I loved the hidden insecurities of James and how Amelia was finally able to put them to rest.

Though it's my first book by the author, I am definitely in for the whole series. Recommended for clean regency romance readers.

I received an advance copy of the book and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was a great HF read that had a mix of marrying for duty and falling in love.
Our Miss Scott is indebted to the Duchess of Rochester and is now her constant companion, especially when there are less than savory acts to be committed. Mr. Blakely is our leading man who is unlucky in love- if he falls she looks for a better match. If he proposes, it’s for duty, not for love.

These two, that having given up on love, and can’t get their timing to match up for anything, try to do the best things for everyone in their lives.
