Dark and Deep: A Rosie Canto Mystery

Rate this book
Night after night, Rosie is tormented by nightmares of a woman in sunglasses murdering her in a series of brutal scenarios. At first, she dismisses the wicked dreams as phantoms born from the traumatic memories she's been taking from veterans to help heal their PTSD. Then the woman from her dreams appears in the real world—with death reflected in those dark lenses.

Rosie is convinced the woman is responsible for the death of Kyle, a young soldier she's been helping. When she delves into Kyle's most traumatic memories for clues, she finds plenty of people who might want him dead—but the mysterious woman in sunglasses is nowhere to be found.

As Rosie and Noah chase the mysterious woman into the web of lies that led to Kyle's death, they find themselves tangling with crooked CEOs, devious ex-girlfriends, and missing memories, all woven together by a mysterious contractor, the Swan. Each step they take towards learning what happened to Kyle puts them further in the Swan's crosshairs. With their own lives hanging in the balance, they must decipher the truth before it's too late.

Lyon does it again!

Similar to book one in the Rosie Canto series, Dark and Deep is a novel with so many great layers. (Great characters with depth, a plot line that keeps you guessing, and interpersonal relationships that are realistic and relatable).

There is enough recapping of book one to jog your memory about Rosie’s last adventure, without leaving you feeling like you’re re-reading the entire thing. It ends with a resolution that is satisfying, while also giving you something to look forward to in the final book.

TLDR; Dark and Deep kept me guessing “who-done-it” the ENTIRE time! It’s written in beautiful, yet easy to read, prose interspersed with witty humor. Another excellent book from Lyon, and a truly enjoyable read!
