Promises were made to those we lost. Consumed by grief, trying to keep myself and this family afloat while slowly sinking with each crashing wave that life throws our way. The only thing capable to keeping me above water are the endless blue eyes that once trapped me in their gaze all those years ago. Now, we fight together to build a life for our new family. Taking on the challenges of this unknown sea, we wade in one day at a time…
Grief is a fickle thing. A moment of sorrow. A breath of anger. Hating yourself for not being there for the person you lost. Trying to cope with the survivor guilt you are left with when they are gone. Grasping at anything that will keep you whole as the guilt and pain tear through you until you break. Yet, she stays. The woman you never deserved in the first place. The woman who, no matter what happens, is always right there by your side. She is what holds you together so that you can be the role model you are supposed to be for your family. So that you can make those who you lost proud…
The focus of this book shifts. It really is about the twins and them growing up and becoming the men that they are destined to become. My heart continued breaking throughout this book and I could feel the responsibilities that way on each of them. So similar but so vastly different all at the same time. This book was real and the struggles that Heidi and Leo face while dealing with their own depths of grief was heart wrenching.
I love this series. It’s everything that I love in a mafia series. It’s dark, it’s hot and it doesn’t shy away from a deep storyline. This should be a must read for every mafia reader. This book is setting the stage of what’s to come and I’m sitting on the edge of my seat needing that next book. Thankfully it is soon coming!
This one right here! 🥹 My heart. The way it tugs at your emotions is serious. It was an emotional Rollercoaster 🎢 The different POVs really make you feel what each character is going through.
ARC READER REVIEW ⚠️CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS, YOUR HEALTH MATTERS⚠️
This book is very heavy compared to all of the others, the authors note in the beginning made it all that more heavy to me , it made it so much more personal.. i could feel her hurt through every page.🥹❤️🩹 - Seeing how Adria and Joseph’s deaths affected everyone around them and how Heidi and and Leo took them in without second thought and raised and loved them as their own.and watching their family go through the trials and the tribulations that they did and they still didn’t give up on their friends children was so heartwarming.. 💕 - Dealing with grief hit very close to home for me so, it was so refreshing to see how it’s okay to deal with your grief in what ever way helps you carry on. I needed this book, honestly i feel like it answered alot of the questions that i would’ve had when the next book comes out. Because it fills in the gaps, sets you up for what’s yet to come! - With that being said, there are a lot of time jumps in this book but i don’t feel that it made it hard to keep up with. The writing in general was beyond anything i would’ve thought it would be it was so well written. Im literally on the edge of my seat for the next book.
Man idk weather to be happy or sad! I surely thought they would get to see their parents in this book at some point 😭😭😭😭 Leo and Heidi point of was a breath of fresh air, they are a strong couple to deal with Micheal and everything else life was throwing at them throughout this book!!!
I didn't like Micheal much though, and I was upset that his parents could see all the stuff he was putting Leo and Heidi through and didn't even try to help (lol I know I know it's just a book ) and a good one at that! I just didn't like him at all Other than that love The little love story that came from Jonathan and Ella it was really cute! To watch it grow and bloom!! Can't wait for book 5!! I'm on pin and Needles Hopefully Micheal is Better! And controlling his emotions!
Now I gotta wait until December 😭😭😭😭 This isn't fair lol
B. Shytle does it again! As soon as I started reading this book, I had a very difficult time putting it down as it was so good. I look forward to the next book and have no doubt that it will be just as good, if not better, than this one!
This is an amazing story of how Leo and Heidi came together to help the kids of their best friends get through their grief of losing their parents, along with raising their own daughter. The challenges and grief is laced throughout, but it just shows that Mafia families are not immune to grief and losing the people they are close to. It has some spice to it between Leo and Heidi, but that is to be expected after the first three stories in this series. The spice adds yet another depth to the story and makes it that much better.
Ok so I won’t lie, this is book 4 and I skipped 2 and 3 😅. Don’t do that! You ever feel like you’re in the middle of the ocean but there’s no explanation as to what happened? Yeah that’s how you’ll feel, easy enough to follow but you’ll still be confused 😂. Anyway! Leo and Heidi are grieving their best friends while also trying to raise their best friend’s twin boys and their own daughter. As you can imagine it’s not easy. You’ll experience the anguish mentally of what they go through annd the difficult times they have. While nothing in life is easy, this is just hard because remember they’re all still grieving and having to change their ways. Nothing’s perfect but they try. Leo and Heidi will probably NEVER keep their hands off each other and they’re still deeply in love. They were legit made for each other. Their spiciness and dark ways are what keeps things interesting. Heidi is Leo’s light and he’s her darkness that stops at NOTHING to keep her and their family safe and protected. There sis nothing he wouldn’t do for them. Theres a scene that stuck with me that will definitely change your perspective especially if you’re a parent yourself. Leo and Heidi are so focused on the twin boys that they seemed to have forgotten about their own daughter and she starts lashing out at them and being hateful. So Heidi basically tells her she has a free pass to say exactly what’s on her mind. So Ella does and it makes Heidi stop and think and she realizes that they have put so much into the boys that Ella was kind of just swept under a rug. So it makes them start changing their ways and including her more. Not only do you get to see the relationship with Heidi, Leo and Ella but you also get to know Jonathan and Michael and they’re not just forgotten in this book. Their mental health issues are brought to light and you’re able to see the type of men they become since their parents passing. Jonathan is more of someone you can lean on and go to if you need something and he’s there if you need something. Michael on the other hand is basically bipolar and doesn’t give two 💩s if he’s made you made or hurt your feelings. He’s placed in mental hospitals and given medications but nothing really helps and he knows how to follow along to get his way with people. But even though he’s having mental issues, he’s still very protective of certain people as you will see when you read this book. The ending is a twist that you hope happens but you’re not sure if it will be foreshadowed as it’s been shown.
This series completely and utterly shattered my heart in to trillions of pieces. I dont think i will ever fully recover from it. I havent cried so much through a series like i have with this one. Im talking big fat ugly tears. My poor heart just couldn't take it. But i was here for it all, every dark and twisted bit off it.
In this book we follow the after math of the previous book, seeing the guilt, loss, sadness of the ones left behind. Witnessing the two boys having to grow up and struggle without their parents. They should be sticking together through everything cause when the time is right to take thier rightful places, they will need each other.
We get more insight into heidi and leos life, bringing up their daughter and the twins and everything else , get to see how they navigate through it all.
This book took me on a wild ride , that had me gripped to the edge of my seat. Its filled with twists and turns, darkness, loss, grief, guilt and so much more. I just couldn't put it down. The characters, the plots, the storyline where wonderfully written, you can tell the author has put her very soul into the series. I cant wait to read the next part and see what these twin boys journeys are going to be into adulthood. Highly recommend.
This book is heavy but I love that the author wrote a note to the readers in the front of the book. I read her words about being in a dark place writing it and how it was needed and I really felt that when reading the book. Mental health and grief are not easy topics to have taken on and it was done well. It was more real than fluffy. It really shows how 1 persons mental health can affect a whole family. It shows how each person deals with it. It was so well done. Were there a TON of time jumps YES. But I followed along ok and I knew from the authors note we were going to need all this background for the next book so I knew it was important. It didn't feel like anything was in there that wouldn't be important or future plots. I wanted to scream at Joseph and Adria through the whole book for all the pain they caused and how much they destroyed everyone's lives. I know why they did what they did but I wish it was different. I can not wait for book 5 the end of this book has a chapter from book 5 in it and it was delicious. Seriously can nit wait to see how the Mafia Promise Series ends!
"Shattered Pinky Promise" is book 4 to "The Mafia Promise" series.
Compared to the first 3, this was more of angst/emotional rollercoaster of a read. It wasn't your regular mafia romance, this book pulled my heart out and ripped it into a million pieces a few times as I read it. As someone who don't mind a heavy read or have triggers, this book really impacted me HARD. Definitely don't skip those trigger warnings.
B. Shytle really put her heart and soul into getting those emotions across the pages of this story in a beautiful and organic way that makes sense with Heidi and Leo. You feel everything, not just skipping through a story. It was raw, full of depth, and was probably the most unexpected mafia romance I read this year. It's beautiful when I can see an author take a troupe and do their own thing with it, making their storyline unique. Grief and mental health are hard to go through, but you see her characters overcome in this series in an amazing way. If you haven't read this series, you need to. SO GOOD.
Shattered Pinky Promise is book four in The Mafia Promise Series.
This book shows the events between book three and book five. It is here to show the events which formed the boys into the way they are. We get to see how they interact with Heidi and Leo and their struggles with losing their parents in the previous book. We see how losing both your parents at a young age can impact you differently. Michael becomes more aggressive and out of control, while Jonathan becomes a more gentle person.
Leo and Heidi seem good with each other, but there are times where Leo goes off the handle too quickly. I didn't really like him at those times as he was a bit of a brute. But I did know that he loved Heidi and nothing bad would happen to her. We get to see how these two cope with adding these two children into their family.
This was a great addition to the series. It sums up some of the events from the previous books, while setting up the events for the next book in the series.
This book gives you a deeper understanding of Joseph and Adra’s twins and who they are before they take over their respective organizations. My heart broke for Heidi and Leo, along with Jonathan and Ella. Dealing with someone with that extent of mental health issues as Michael would be a hard pill to swallow. Heidi is my hero. I’d say I have more of Leo’s personality and would go straight for lashing out (not proud of it 😬). But Heidi has the knowledge and ability to back up and really look at the deeper cause before acting… while it backfires in her face most of the time, she never gives up on her kids. I love how possessive Leo is over Heidi also, the heat is real 🥵.
I can’t wait for book 5. I want to see how the boys work together running their own organizations and how Jonathan and Ella’s relationship grows if it continues past Jonathan leaving.
This book has struggles with mental health and BPD. Please take care of your mental health first before reading.
Not gonna lie, I was lost at first. I did not remember Adria and Joseph dying in The Double Pinky Promise, so I was, again, gutted reading about it lol. Leo and Heidi's love is so beautiful, honestly. Their selflessness, by taking in their best friends' children makes my heart so happy.
This storyline jumps, years, frequently. Which was a little weird but I understand. It's still a good story. My heart breaks for the boys and I'm super interested, and excited to see how they react when they find out their parents are not dead 😳😳. Especially Michael. I'm also interested in what happens between Jonathan and Michael, and then Ella and the boys!!! Can't wait for the next one!!

This book is an emotional one. My momma heart strings were pulled. It ages the twins throughout the book & shows how different they handled the death of their parents. It also gives us perspectives with how Heidi & Leo had to adapt and become parents to Adria & Josephs boys. They took a very hard job but do so well, while also being a parent to their daughter.
They are ALL still grieving in different ways & my goodness you can feel the emotions. It's also really nice to see and feel the love between Leo & Heidi even though they fought, & continue to fight for it. Everyone goes through so much in this book and I cannot wait to see what book 5 brings us. It's way different then books 1 - 3.
Do yourself a favour and go back and read the rest of the series … trust me it will make sense.
This book I struggled with, not because of the story, but because of the jump in time lines. Now that I have finished it, I definitely understand the need for those jumps. They are critical.
The way those boys developed and grew, how Heidi and Leo did their absolute best to protect them and nurture them was delightful to see. Even though Michael faced the greatest challenges and my heart would weep for him, I believe it will all come together in Book 5.
To my author … I am so mad at you … you made me wait until the epilogue to give me what I needed to heal my heart from Book 4 (it absolutely destroyed me) … you need to fix it in Book 5 … please I beg of you!!

I want to say first ALL CHECK the TRIGGERS!! YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!!
this book right here is something else in a good way for sure... With myself having mental health issues as a kid this book was hard to get through bc i could definitely relate to.. But i got through it and it was amazing I cried, I laughed, I was mad lets just I had a roller coaster especially at the end of the book I would definitely this whole series for sure!!!
First off, check the trigger warnings before you start reading Shattered Pinky Promise. This book deals with heavy, heavy issues so make sure you take care reading. It's a very intense story, one that's not easily read nor easy to put down. This whole series is fantastic and very well written, but as with any series there's always a favorite, and this is mine. My heart ached for these characters, all of them, in many different ways. They're easy to relate to, their suffering is easy to relate to and so is their healing. And it all stems from the immense emotions this author pours into her stories. It all comes through the pages and consumes the readers. What a fantastic story this is!
THIS IS AN ARC READER REVIEW PLEASE CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS, YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!
I was really looking forward to this book to find out what happened after Joseph and Adria went into hiding. B. Shytle gives a warning at the beginning that it was coming from a dark place so I was prepared.
The content is dark and at times disturbing....Michael and the bully! BUT it was great for the character development.
All in all I liked the book.
Can't wait for the next one to see Joseph and Adria come back(??????? PLEASE!!!!) And how the boys and everyone else cope with it. Also what happens with Jonathan and Michael leading their respective crime families.

OMG?! LEO AND EFFING HEIDI! Nothing more needs to be said! But hot damn! Please make sure you read TW before reading as this book can be extremely dark to some. Personally, I absolutely loved every bit! The time jumping didn’t bother me at all! (Coming from an adhd & dyslexic person) IT WAS NEEDED! I absolutely loved being able to get more of the story! Please understand you NEED to read all the books to understand this one fully! It does go into mental health issues in children so tread lightly if thats not something you can handle. But the twins? Omggg!! 😭😭 And Leo and Heidi?! Doing all the do and still have that HEAT! 🤤🤤 MMM!
Promises were made to those we lost. Consumed by grief, trying to keep myself and this family afloat while slowly sinking with each crashing wave that life throws our way. The only thing capable to keeping me above water are the endless blue eyes that once trapped me in their gaze all those years ago.
The heaviest book so far in the series, filled with loss, grieving best friends Leo and Heidi take on Adria and Joseph's kids. The journey of how both twins react throughout their lives handling the death of their parents is captivating and emotional. I absolutely adore Leo and Heidi's relationship.
Tropes: - Plus size FMC - Mafia - Dual POV - Touch her and d!e - Obsession
This one...this one will hit you right where it hurts. The way the trauma the boys went through, and the way both them and the family dealt with it is so well written. It reaches off the pages and takes hold in a way I haven't seen many books do. The ups...the downs....the steps back...we experience them all with the boys as it happens.
Same with how the struggles with mental health was done. It was done in a way that conveyed how everyone experienced it all while not making it feel forced just to improve the plot.
I truly love this series. Every twist. Every turn. Every up. Every down. It's all just amazing.
Wow… I’m speechless and at a loss for words. The loss of Adria and Joseph and the way it impacts everyone is just so relatable in a way. I loved the way it was shown because it’s just real.
The way Heidi and Leo step up and what they do is just amazing, this was such a page turner and definitely a book that if grief is a hard no for you then you may want to mind your TW!
This is a unique Mafia romance imo because we see more than just the “mafia” side and very heavy on the family aspect and I definitely enjoy it! (Doesn’t mean it’s not a MAFIA romance though!)
I’m super late on the review as I was given an ARC copy but this is a must read series!!
Please check trigger warnings before diving into this book ⚠️ it is dark, but this book was needed in order to know the things that went on in Leo, Heidi, Ella, Michael, and Jonathan's lives before they reach the age to take over their rightful positions. I was absolutely hooked from page #1 and could not put it down. It's dark, it's gritty and it's raw but it is beautiful. I can not wait for book #5 because OMG it is going to be PHENOMENAL! If you're a fan of B. Shytle and you love her Pinky Promises series, This is a MUST read.
Wow. So many ups and downs in this book. Michael and Jonathan had it rough. At 11 their lives changed drastically. Leo and Heidi took care of them along with their daughter Ella. Ella and Jonathan were very close. Michael was on the outskirts of their friendship and he felt he didn’t belong in the family and didn’t deserve to be happy. He had the hardest time. He eventually got better with the help of doctors and medication. Such a great series. This also ended on a cliffhanger after the boys graduated high school. Can’t wait for the next book.
The book is so heavy, much more than the others. Seeing how his death affected everyone, how Adria and Joseph died, how Heidi and Leo took them, raised them, cared them as if they where their own kids was heartwarming. This is a story above the challenges and the love that was put right out there in the open. Grief was interweave through out the story but it just shows that Mafia Families are not above Grief and the loss of one of their family members. It has some colour between Leo and Heidi. Overall just a really great story.a
Another great addition to the series. This follows Leo and Heidi's pov following the tragic deaths of their best friends, and showing them raising the boys alongside their daughter Ella. There is lots of tension, anger, frustration and heartbreak. Michael has ongoing trauma and acts out with anger towards his family. They try therapy, interventions, and medication but it only seems to push him further away. Their family seems to be breaking apart and there's addes complications from the mafia lifestyle. Michael continues to compete with his brother Jonathan, and it's setting the scene for future challenges and battles over Ella who they both love. Loved the spice between Leo and Heidi too. Can't wait for the next now the boys are all grown up and about to take over the 2 mafia families.
Wow! Another best seller in this series. This book was heavy on the emotional side. I didnt think my heart could break more than when Joseph & Adria got shot. I was wrong my heart broke so many times throughout this book for all of the characters at one point or another. Without giving anything away I was overjoyed with some of the attendees at the boys graduation. I'm so looking forward to the next book.
This book did not provide the closure I was so desperately seeking after book three. It was, however, still amazing. You pick up about a year after the ending events of book three. You do HAVE to read the first three to understand this book. If you just dive in, you'll understand the current events of the book but not how you got there. She discloses this is a bridge gap book to get you ready for the next chapter of the series. You get ten years of drama, heartache, lust, love, and mafia packed into the pages. Let's just say, I'm itching for book five.
Before you start check the trigger, I didn't and now I will be thinking about this book for ever. It is different but the same as the others. It talks about mental health and grief. It was very beautifully written and made me cry a little bit thinking about my family and how these struggles are real. It talks about the future of Joseph and Adria’s twins and how they are handling life. Such a beautiful book! Full of love, selfness and grief.
This is the 4th book in the "Mafia Promise" series. This is written in the boys POV ( Adria and Joseph's twins) It turned out to be the perfect ttwist this series needed. It is the view point of the mafia we rarely get to see. The aftermath and grief when your loved ones are gone and the heartache. It the lack of will to takes to even get out of bed in the morning. This series is so amazing.
