Dani and Kelly have known each other forever and realised in high school that they loved each other. Kelly's parents were super supportive as was Dani's dad, her mum not so much. As their relationship is negotiated with their parents, Dani goes away to uni and leaves Kelly behind to work on her parent's farm. When tragedy strikes, both distance and grief challenge their relationship.

The dealing of grief and a long distance relationship are well done here. 4 stars

This book is a wonderful and sweet love story. We follow Dani and Kelly's journey from when they met in elementary school and accompany them through college until they are young adults in their twenties. From Dani's POV we see how their feelings change and they fall in love with each other. Sometimes, soulmates meet at school and they already know then, that they are meant to be together. But life does not always follow the storybook and throws some stones in their way. Especially as a tragedy hits one of them hard and they have to fight for their love, and overcome grief to get their chance to build their life together.

It's an easy read with a nice flow, a sweet romance, but it's also about loss and grief and how to deal with it. Two loveable MCs and great supporting characters.

This was a sweet story about finding your forever person at a very young age. It was cute and sentimental. I liked both main characters, I thought Kelly was more developed and more time was spent on her character than Dani. She does go through an emotional time and so the focus was appropriate to focus on her.

Dani's mom was so typical of a socially striving woman and that was one of the main conflicts in the story.

This book had a good foundation but not enough detail to make it more interesting to me. It touched on a lot of background but I would have liked to know more about the farm and Dani's job.

Very sweet..

A very sweet read with little to no angst. Honestly, it could have easily been over the top dramatic but it's wasn't and while not smooth sailing for Dani and Kelly it wasn't portrayed as rocky as it could have, or maybe I would have liked. Still a very nice read from an author I love reading

Liked it enough to rate this as 3⭐️+

The story delves into Dani and Kelly’s journey of young love, from high school to how they navigate maintaining their relationship while embarking on their college lives, living apart, the challenges they face when tragedy strikes, prompting them to grapple with the decision of whether to persevere in their relationship or let it go. Plenty of poignant flashbacks.

this book has a wonderful love story but there is a huge issue with the plot. why is the main selling point of this story the fact that there’s something “keeping them apart” when in reality there’s nothing keeping them apart they’re just going through a bit of a rough patch because one of the halves of the ships is dealing with parental grief. if you want a book that does successfully what this aims to do read the taste of her smile/the jensey willet series because that book puts this one to shame.

the books selling point and blurb is all wrong and that totally ruins the reading experience of this book.

This was one of the sweetest love stories and portrayals of young love I’ve ever read. I’m not giving it 5 stars because I was hoping for a bit more angst once Dani finally returned to Texas, but overall it was a lovely and enjoyable read from start to finish.

Screaming, crying, sobbing.

Yes, this is currently my favorite book.

(Important.
I talk about certain moments of the story that could be considered a spoiler)

I knew it would be since the moment I realized this story was different.

From the few sapphic books I've read since 2020, this is the first one were the couple are together since the beginning. We are with them through the journey of their relationship as couple, not only as friendship moving toward relationship.

I always complain that sapphic stories end too fast when the main characters get together. I want to see more of their dynamics and daily life, but it's almost never granted.

This one, granted everything.

Someone said it had little angst, and I would like to differ. It's true, it doesn't have heavy angst. It had potencial for heartbreaking angst and drama, which was never handed. However, the void some pages present leaves you breathless. (jaja)

My heart hurt for them. The moments Dani and Kelly struggle with maintaining themselves and their relationship afloat, was hard to read for me. It was one of the reason why I took so long to finish it.

I rooted for them a lot. There were actions from Kelly that pissed me off and I wished Dani would have been have confronted her more. She was always putting herself bellow.

It left me a bitter taste in the mouth that they never address —meaning we never know either—the reason behind Kelly shutting down on Dani. Why she distanced herself. It can be put together if you try, but when reading it I felt Kelly didn't love Dani anymore.

That's why I was so shook when Dani suddenly came back and Kelly was so happy to see her. I feared (and maybe hoped) she would lash Dani out.

Still, I loved Kelly. She is a great character. I pictured her in one way, and i was completely wrong. I never knew what to expect.
When the story started it was clear how much she loved Dani, but eventually it dimmed down (that how I read it at least.) However, at the end we can see the spark again (though I'll admit it took a bit to convince me.)

I still hoped her apology would be better. To give more effort to Dani. She forgave her, but it was hard for me to do it too.

In the other hand, Dani it's our narrator, we know everything through her. I was delighted with her, but at the same time I craved to know Kelly's point of view too.

She's a well thought character, but I wished she hadn't put up with her mother for so long. Yet, I understand the motive behind it.
However, something I didn't understand nor like, was the sudden change of mind from her mother. After trying everything to make Dani's life harder, out of nowhere, she's okay with Dani's decisions. She suddenly okay with Kelly dating her child.
There was supposed to be a "talk" with her but it never happened and I never knew what was going to be said. I would have liked to know.

All in all, I've never been more enamoured with a relationship than with theirs. I yearn for a love like that. To find the comfort and "heart" with another person.

I didn't want this story to end, I wanted more and more but their conclusion left me giddy inside. It lifted my spirits.

Although there was a part were everything came to halt. Dani rambling about her breathless' analogy, she suddenly said that it had a finality and it would be when she had given everything out of her to Kelly. She implied, she would die first when mentioning she would transform into only a memory for Kelly and their relationship.

I don't know why but it made me ache, the reminder everything comes to an end. (It also hurt thinking about how one will they first and the other will have to learn to keep living alone. It tore me apart imagining Kelly moving on.)

Yes, I'm a sensitive person. I'm depressed and I want everything to be happy happy 🤐

All in all, a wonderful book. So glad I found and read it.

Thank to the author for writing and sharing this story.

A Sweet and Heartwarming Love Story 💕

I have to say I really enjoyed this book. It was basically good feelings from the moment Dani and Kelly met. Life dictates that one doesn’t know or understand feelings at a young age. I always disagreed with that sentiment and this well written story proves it. S.W. Andersen’s storytelling has taken two young girls into adult hood both having feelings for each other. A story where from the moment these young girls met you as the reader hoped nothing was going to pop up and make things ugly. Yes, a tragic accident happens but in life we do get hit with things we can’t control. However, love is supposed to see you through and I am so glad the writer saw it too. I have seen this writer’s name around but this is my first. I will most definitely check out her other books. Highly recommend.

4 stars. This was a great balance of sweet and dramatic. A tad bit of angst as well. I liked the beginning half but everything was going a little too well and I was starting to lose interest. However, once happened that's when the story really got going for me. Dani and Kelly were perfect for each other but I loved seeing them at their low points and getting through them. It was so good. I liked both characters a lot and their relationship was so romantic but it was the drama that kept me hooked. They really earned their HEA and it was a beautiful ending as well. Great read. This was my first book by this author but I will for sure be reading more. I liked the writing quite a bit and it was a gripping read.

Sweetness. Andersen writes a lesbian love story for the ages and Quinn Riley narrates it to trembling perfection. I fell hard for Dani and the love she holds for Kelly. They weather young love, distance, college years, death and family. My wife and I listened to this one together and both of us was left smiling and breathless. I asked her how many stars I should give this, and she replied 10. So, if we could we would rate this 10 stars and heartily recommend it. Now I'm going to see what else S.W. Andersen has available.

Blue Eyes and Texas Skies

New to me author - S.W. Andersen - has truly captivated me in this love story of two childhood best friends who were each others' everything from day one. Dani and Kelly were soulmates and everybody knew it. We are taken on their journey of young love, long distance, and life's curve balls that test their bond. Definitely has all the feels.

It's the perfect small-town, families are close, two peas in a pod, sapphic love story.

Long way home, totally worth the journey!

The story is a long, full journey and doesn't follow the usual pacing or format of romance novels, which makes it less predictable than most, and a more engaging read. High on the romance and emotion, medium high on the spice/steam, and low on tropes/usual-plot-devices/angst.

Wow, such a life! To meet your soulmate in elementary school and then live your life... so many experiences for these two MCs. This is a journey of great love, great joy and great pain. It's a lot like life. The foundation for all the living though is a great love story. Thank you, SW Andersen, for a great ride!
