Girl, If I Was You 3: An African American Romance: Finale

Rate this book
Well, well, well, we’ve arrived at the aftermath of the madness caused by heartache.

Cynne did her dirt and paid for her past transgressions, but when they said karma would hit ten times harder, they meant it. Though she wasn’t ready for all she endured in the name of love, it’s nothing compared to what her nemesis, London, will endure in the name of redemption. Cynne must find it in her heart to not only welcome forgiveness, but at a time when she should be raising her kids and preparing for her newborn, she finds herself stepping into the unexpected role of “stepmother.” With her newfound emotional maturity, this transition comes surprisingly easily. However, the backlash from London’s breakdown is a different story.

Larenz played a dangerous game and won a dangerous prize. His quest for revenge almost cost him his children, and although he should have drawn the line earlier, he built a wall that is not to be crossed ever again. That is, until questions about a disappearance close to home start surfacing. For everyone who didn’t know, they will soon find out just how far Larenz is willing to go for his family, no matter who the target is.

As Cynne grows and prepares for the arrival of her newborn, Larenz finds that loving her is still easy. Despite the lingering effects of Larenz's selfish actions, which haunt them like a shadow, Cynne decides to make love easy again. What wasn’t easy was March Madness. What’s March Madness, you ask? Girl, if I was you, I would read and find out.

Dive into this gripping African American romance filled with second chances, enemies turned lovers, and the enduring power of love and redemption. This is a story about healing, forgiveness, and the strength it takes to rebuild a life and family against all odds.

Great Read

London jealousy and what she did to Larenz and Cynne son and daughter, along with her continuous threats. Sealed her fate. Which also left Larenz and Cynne on the Police radar because of her disappearance as well as London godmother Justice trying to prove Larenz was behind what happened to London. Larenz mother Patty, his sister Kelly, and a few other of his family was still on bs trying to disrespect Cynne. However Larenz and his father was tired of it and had to check them. Patty and Kelly know they were setting Debbie up for failure pushing her to try to hook up with Larenz knowing him and Cynne were together. Debbie embarrassingly and shamelessly threw herself at Larenz. She also had another agenda behind wanting to get close to him but what Debbie didn't realize is that Larenz wasn't no damn fool. He knew exactly who the other person who had sent Debbie to get information out of him. Cynne really have grown after serving time because London set her up and after having put hands and feet on several of Larenz relatives for disrespecting her. She's changed a lot. She was learning her self worth. Learning to love herself and how to control her temper. She also loved London and Larenz daughter like she was her own. However Cynne was worried about more drama popping up after Larenz told her about Debbie and Justice. Debbie was playing a dangerous game with Larenz. Although she was obsessed with him. She was doing shyt that was either going to end up with her in prison or unalive. With London being found and having no memory. Cynne and Larenz thought she would use her second chance at life to do better but the old crazy and obsessed London started to resurface. London almost went off the deep end again. Luckily her godmother Justice got her the help she need.

Excellent finale!

Wow! I fell in love with this series from book #1. The relationship between Cynne and Larenz was one for the books, literally. Cynne played Larenz every which way but right. From her abandoning their first child, Lonny, to her leaving Larenz for Bombay, it was safe to say Cynne was a terrible woman and mother at a time.

She slowly but surely made a lot of growth and discovered self love. Through her character development, Larenz also changed. The once meek and weak young man, grew into a boss in terms of his street dealings, his chain of auto repair shops, and with the way he allowed women to treat him.

The situation with London was sad. I was glad she was spared, but it was crazy it took all of that to happen for her to really wake up and change her life for the better and come to terms that she and Larenz would be nothing more than coparents to Lovely.

Debbie, my god, did she make me sick! Her crush on Larenz quickly turned to infatuation and obsession. But he was smarter and played his cards right with that one. She had me worried for a minute, but thankfully Larenz stayed a step ahead of her at all times.

I’m glad Cynne and Larenz’s toxic relationship changed to one of tremendous growth and true love. No matter how bad Cynne had treated him in the past, the heart break and betrayal she caused him, Larenz always stood 10 toes down for Cynne and never gave up on his love for her. No matter what, they were bound to one another.

This series has become one of my all time favorites from Kia Jones. I highly recommend all black urban romance fiction lovers who haven’t already, to dive into this series. You will not be disappointed whatsoever.

You really can't help who you love! Larenz proved that over and over again from the start of this series! Cynne was his person and I'm glad he stood on business especially when it came to his family. It probably didn't help any that he kept her barefoot and pregnant lol! I wanted to beat Kemoni's overgrown arse so bad! She wouldn't stay in a child's place for nothing! I blame Kelly for her foolishness! Patty and her family OMG! They really aren't nobody and stayed in someone's business! It's a good thing they got it all the way together especially concerning Cynne because I just know Larenz wasn't playing with them when he said he old cut them off! Big Larenz for the win! He wasn't letting no one play in his son's face! I loved him and Cherry from day 1! Debbie was really on some other mess! She was so lost in her delusional mind, she got played right out of what she trying to do! Whew challe, London is the living dead. I mean the girl was stuck in the past and still was on that good b.s. I'm glad Justice finally let her thoughts go so that she could have really gotten London the help she needed. It was time for them all to grow into their new lives and I'm happy the way it all turned out! The kids are happy and the relationships are thriving all around! Great series!

Aw what a sweet ending!

This series grew on me. At first I was having a hard time staying interested the Cynne was just making me mad lmao but the character development from everyone was truly amazing. I still don’t like Patty or Kelly but I’m glad everyone else turned things around. Larenz definitely played his part when he was messing with them both and definitely made a bad situation worse but he fixed things in the end. He was wrong for messing with London to begin with anyways. Debbie… chileeee I feel like he did too much with her and just generally enjoyed sleeping with her but I still enjoyed this series

Review of the whole series

The title is exactly what I’m sure a lot of women have experienced. Having that so called friend with the unwarranted advice that always start off by saying “Girl, if I was you?” In the first book Lorenzo was definite a push over and I felt so sorry for him but a man can’t be that dumb over a woman who blatantly dogged him as bad as Chin did. Everything that happened to her I feel like she deserved! Book 2 and 3 he Lorenzo became way too cocky. I was really hoping that Loni would finally speak at the end.

Girl yass

I loved this story from the beginning and was too happy to read book 3. Cyn really bossed up on her grown woman and did the needful. I loved how she set boundaries with Larenz and didn’t take crap from his mom side of the family. London got what she deserved because karma is a b and when you involved the kids that was it. Great read

pain into love

So I binged the last two books and babyeee the ending pissed me off so bad 😂 lol it felt so rushed and I honestly did not have no faith in London because baby girl was off her rocker completely. Cynee was such a girls girls and about her peace. I’m lowkey salty how it ended lol that’s all we get that’s not enough

a new day

Lorenz went through a lot first with cynne, his mother and sister always on the negative side of his relationship I hated that Lorenz also made unnecessary drama against cynne, London did not deserve . Why they didn’t get lonny checked out as soon as they knew he was not talking
