This is book 2️⃣ of the Montana Mavericks : The Tenacity Social Club series. This book was rather sad. Triggers for this book : macular degeneration, diabetes

This story is about a guy named Miles Parker. He is a military veteran. He got injured while serving in the military. Hr never felt that he belonged in Tenacity. Now he’s back on the ranch. He still feels out of place. He doesn’t tell anyone about the injury he sustained while serving in the military. The injury forced him to retire early. He doesn’t want anyone’s pity.

He meets a woman named Renee Trent. Meeting her complicates everything. The beautiful sensitive dog groomer has always faced challenges of her own which involves living with diabetes. He uses a service dog to help her with her illness. She might be the family that he needs. He tells that he might be going blind because of his injury he got serving in the military. He doesn’t want to see pity in her eyes because of him. He does start to fall for Renee. This book was on the sad side but sweet.

A Maverick's Road Home is the second title in the multi-authored Montana Mavericks: The Tenacity Social Club series, and brings us Renee’s and Miles’ heartfelt romance. I have loved all of the many Montana Mavericks series throughout the years. This one touches on some realistic and believable topics that will bring these characters’ struggles to life in a way that showcases their growing love, while also revealing the very human reactions to medical situations beyond our control.

Miles had planned on staying in the military until he reached 30 years of service and then retired, but life had other plans. An accident during a training exercise resulted in a condition where he is slowly losing his sight. There is nothing medical that can be done. Now, he’s returned to the ranch he grew up on, trying to deal with a far different future than he’d expected.

Renee is flourishing in her new business of traveling pet groomer. She and her service dog have a good life. She’s tried the romance road and it’s never worked for her, so she’s, if not content, then resigned to a single life. Renee is a diabetic with a very protective mother, and has had bad relationships that were ended because of her medical condition in one manner or another. She focuses her attention on her business and volunteering at an animal rescue, but she had no idea that one quick visit to tend to a very dirty stray would change her life.

I loved Miles and Renee, both individually and as a couple. They have a rocky road ahead of them before their happy ending can become a reality. If you love a well-written, realistic romance that will capture your heart, then A Maverick's Road Home by Catherine Mann would be perfect for you. If I could give this story ten stars, I would; it’s that lovely and realistic.

This is book two in The Montana Mavericks : The Tenacity Social Club Series and it is Miles and Renee’s story and it is definitely a must read. Miles was in the military and loved what he did until a serious injury and diagnosis forced him to retire, so now a civilian and back on the family farm he feels out of place and doesn’t feel like he belongs and to make matters worse he hasn’t told his family about his diagnosis because he doesn’t want anyone to know or pity him. Renee is a mobile dog groomer and loves her job and she hasn’t had a easy life and faces her own challenges while dealing with her diabetes but she still keeps going and moving forward while living the best life that she can. When Miles and Renee meet there is definitely a strong attraction that sizzles between them but with them both having secrets and trust issues it definitely puts a strain on them. The more time that Miles and Renee spend together the stronger their feelings for each other grows but what will happen when both of their secrets are revealed, will it make them stronger together or break them apart only time will tell what the outcome will be for them in the especially as they both want the happiness and future together. Miles and Renee are so perfect together and for each other and you find yourself hoping that everything works out for them especially after everything that had happened and also what they have both been through. This is a really emotional read and you will feel everything as if you are there living through all there struggles with them. I couldn’t put this book down as it kept my attention throughout the whole book and I can’t wait to read more books by this author in the future.

Miles and Renee’s story is insightful, emotional and inspiring. Both have health conditions that have precipitated major changes in their lives and have made them feel uncertain and vulnerable. Though they are determined to keep moving forward, both think their issues mean walking through life alone. Miles and Renee are hesitant to open their hearts to others and share their secrets because they believe their conditions make them a burden. Both try to hide their attraction to each other when they work together on an upcoming charity event for a local pet rescue.

In short order, the townspeople and their families have labeled them as a new couple no matter what they say to the contrary. Miles thinks that might be up for something casual and temporary with Renee, but serious and longterm are not happening. Renee tells herself to keep her growing feelings for Miles to herself and concentrate on her booming business. She has been dealing with her diabetes for years now, but isn’t ready to tell Miles about it, to watch him treat her differently or worse yet, walk away. Yet, she senses that the recently returned military vet, and her teenage crush, is struggling with something too. Will they open up to each other or shut the other out and retreat? As it turns out, they do a bit of both before they find a way forward together.

I enjoyed reading this charming and rather endearing book and I am happy to recommend it.

Get ready to swoon over Catherine Mann's emotional, enjoyable and entertaining romance, A Maverick's Road Home.

Military vet Miles Parker has always felt like a stranger in Tenacity. Never feeling like he belonged, he still feels out of place even now that he's left the Army. Having not told a soul about the injury he had sustained, Miles doesn't want anybody's pity and balks at the thought of being regarded as somebody needing help. However, things get complicated for Miles when he meets Renee Trent.

The dog groomer has challenges of her own being a diabetic, but she refuses to let her condition get her down. When Renee meets Miles, sparks quickly begin to fly, but is he ready to take a leap of faith and a chance on romance? Or will Miles continue to keep everyone else at arm's length?

Catherine Mann's A Maverick's Road Home perfectly balances humor, pathos and romance in an irresistible tale that plucks at the heartstrings and will leave readers with a huge grin on their faces.

DNF. Not even through chapter one.
Him: Woe is me. Discharged from the military, going blind, don’t want to be a burden to my rich family, my dad’s and overbearing jerk and my brother rescued a dog.
Her: I have diabetes, my mother is overprotective, I have a service dog, I hand painted my work vehicle. I had a huge crush on him in high school but he didn’t know I existed. I am not going to let him tell me what to do because I am a strong, independent woman and I own my own business. (mind you, he hasn’t said two words to her yet!)
The author just throws all that down on the page. It doesn’t flow or develop. It’s so contrived I was literally groaning and eye rolling. I have read better cliff notes.
I closed the book and DNF.
Sometime when I DNF I will look up the summary to find out what happens but I just couldn’t care enough about these characters to bother. The author gave them no substance.
Since this is barely into chapter one I am not calling it spoilers.

Renee and Miles are both dealing with health issues that affects their personal relationships. She's found a way to cope with her diabetes with her service dog. Miles connects with a stray dog but he's reluctant to let him not sure what his next steps are after being medically discharged from the military. They draw closer but he gets offended when she brings up a service dog for him and she worries he wants children she might not be able to have. I loved both sweet dogs in this story.

This book is part of an interconnected series written by multiple authors. Can be read as a standalone. Deals with the struggles of living with Type1 diabetes and the knowledge that a military accident will cause drastic changes to the future. Will they be able to get past the fears of the possibilities or will love not be enough?.

Renee runs a mobile dog grooming business and Miles has been medically discharged from the army and returned to the ranch his family runs. He has not told his family the real reason why he came home. He is slowly losing his eyesight and Renee is dealing with diabetes. They both are keeping their issues to themselves and both do not want to get involved in a relationship but they have chemistry!

Just crying to belong…

Mikes Parker is out of the army after just five years. He has young macular degeneration. He’s looking for a place to call home.

Renee is also trying to find her place and is managing her diabetes. I did like that she had a diabetes.

Recommend.
