Such a cozy witchy read!! Perfect for the season…. Fall or Halloween. This was so cute!!! A tad bit predictable but so much fun! Enoki, what a fabulous name, and Rex were super cute. And don’t let that whole sunshine x grumpy trope fool you. This was grumpy x witch and she was faking the sunshine. I loved Enoki’s badass attitude. I do wish it was a little bit longer but that’s my complaint of every short story. I feel like the villains story needed a little more backstory and I would have loved more Enoki and Rex time too. But overall it was the perfect short romance story between a witch and a werewolf.

I know the lovely detective vampire will make an appearance in book two and I can’t wait for that short story as well.

loved it!

The cover drew me in. This cute witchy romance was Short and sweet. Though it’s a spooky season book I think it’s could be read all year long and felt especially cozy during the dark nights of December. Also loved the familiar!

If you’re looking for a cozy little paranormal mystery read, this might be your vibe! It’s a novella so it’s short and sweet, but it’s definitely got a little 🌶️y surprise I wasn’t expecting!🤭 So if spicy isn’t your jam I’d maybe skip this one!

Overall tho this was a pretty cute read. I loved the romantic tension, banter and the idea behind the storyline. My only complaint would be I wish it was a full novel!😅

This was so freaking cute! It had cozy vibes, a strong FMC, delectable bickering, and some secret spice at the very end 😉

I loved the enemies-to-lovers dynamic between Enoki and Rex, how grumpy and sarcastic Enoki’s familiar Amity was, and how bubbly and youthful Rex’s sister Anita was. I also really enjoyed Cal, vampire forensic investigator who has rolled into town.

E.F. Watson has another book coming out this fall called Vampboozled about a college student, her best friend who has been in love with her, and her vampire professor. I love the friends to lovers trope, I love the professor x student trope, and I can’t help but hope that this is Anita and Cal’s story!!! I will die of happiness if they actually get a story together because there was a little sparky spark between them in Witchfished for sure!!

The mystery component of the book was good but not daunting, which was perfect in keeping with the vibes of the overall book.

I’ll definitely be reading more by E.F. Watson!

This just needed to be fleshed out more. I didn’t realize it was from an anthology until it was done. It almost felt like I was put down in the middle of a story and I needed more. The who is obvious in both of the secrets in this book just not the reasons. I think it needed at least 20-30 pages added to the story and I would probably have rated it much higher because you can tell the author can write. Also, the familiar dog was my favorite!

If you’re in the mood for a cozy paranormal mystery full of magic, fall vibes, a grumpy Coloradan werewolf who is really a big ol cinnamon roll, a snarky animal familiar that can telepathically converse with our strong, independent witchy MFC, a vampire detective, a mysterious texting Romeo, and a dash of spice all rolled into a quick read, this is definitely the novella for you!

Even though this is a short book, the world building did not suffer. I was able to picture Enoki’s magical coffee shop so clearly I could almost smell her lavender lattes or feel the draft from her damaged roof in her little cabin. E.F. Watson did an incredible job of making 99 pages feel like a full length book. The banter between Enoki and Rex was always entertaining and I loved when Amity would chime in with her thoughts on things. Enoki was a truly lovable character that escaped a bad situation and decided she was going to live her life the way she wanted to and do what she wanted to cheating ex-boyfriend and hostile townsfolk be damned!

This novella really has a little bit of everything…mystery, magic, action, drama, death, spice, and a HEA. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series and whatever else E.F. Watson has planned for the future!

I LOVED this novella! It was a quick read, but the story was incredibly well developed and it gave the experience of reading a full novel. It left me wanting more - and I don’t mean more FROM the story, I mean more OF the story! I loved it so, so much and wish it would just continue on for hundreds of pages.

Witchfished is a cozy paranormal rom-com with mystery, fake dating, he falls first, banter, grumpy/sunshine, a cinnamon roll MMC, and a strong, independent FMC. I absolutely adored the cozy autumn mountain vibes. AND the FMC owns a witchy apothecary with a coffee shop! It adds to all the cozy, good hearted feels. This book is like a hug in a mug - with a dash of spicy cinnamon on top.

If you’re a fan of snack-sized stories with a buffet full of content, you’ll definitely want to pick this up!

this novelette is the coziest, witchiest pumpkin spice latte in short story form. fun, seasonal, and heartwarming, with a keeps-you-guessing suspenseful plot that complements the romance perfectly.

‘witchfished’ is a short and sweet story about a witch fleeing a bad breakup by moving to a mountain town and opening her own shop — and getting back out there, via an anonymous dating app for witches.

replete with a cute animal sidekick, a hot grouchy shop neighbor, missing tourists, and a mysterious curse — and a spicy bonus chapter! YOU NEED THE SPICY BONUS CHAPTER! — this is a fast and fun read for the colder months. salvage the last vestiges of fall-coffee-drink-season and cozy up with this to hit your goodreads goal for the year.

quick and fun novellla.

i liked the story and small pieces of world\magic we've got. flirting and love-mystery were cute and sweet.
suspense - there is a curse! and people went missing - and secrets were nice, wished we've got more.

if there will be another story in this world or this story will be transformed into bigger novel, i will gladly read it.

It’s got a hint of mystery that keeps you engaged with the story telling and the characters get developed quickly but effectively for only 99 pages!! This is just the book everyone needs as a fall palette cleanser.

Witches & werewolves meet small town romance with a “Catfish” twist! This story was so fun to read and I was pulled into the world even when it was fifty pages long. Highly recommend for a witchy vibe that’s quick to read!

It was cute and cozy but it was so fast.

The writing was very high school vibes even though they weren’t meant to be adults.

The enemies to lovers trope was too fast you couldn’t root for them.

DNF @ 35%

There's being grumpy and then there's just being an asshole, and Rex is definitely crossing the line. To the point that when Enoki's shop is vandalized she immediately thinks its him.

It was okay. Just a short and sweet Novella. Didn't really like the whole overpowered witch aspect though. Using magic for literally everything is just annoying imo.

Witchfished is a delectable, bite-sized witchy romance! I quickly fell in love with the Universe through the world-building. I'd happily devour more stories set in this space. Amity, the trusted familiar, was my absolute favorite. She reminded me of my own white shepherd! A delightful novella to pick up if you're in between dark reads or searching for something mysterious but cozy. Highly recommend!

🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 for spice

Witchfished is a cutie little romantasy novella, that has open door spice and splash of mystery. It is perfect for the spooky, fall season – especially if you’re not quite on track to reach you’re reading goal.

This novella follows Enoki, a witch, who moves to a new town in the mountains after her ex cheats on her. She runs a coffee shop and has a sassy familiar named Amity. She joins a dating app to meet new people but while she’s trying to find someone to spend time with, she has to deal with a town that isn’t exactly welcoming. Our male main character is her grumpy shop neighbor Rex- another werewolf. Enoki and Rex have plenty of banter that add to this story!
Like any novella, this story is fast moving. There is a mystery aspect revolving around a town curse, as well as two love interests, both of which get resolved rather quickly. I do feel like it was a bit obvious as to what the answers to the conflicts were but it didn’t distract me from the overall plot or make me feel like I “missed” anything, I just love to learn all the small details about characters and with E.F. Watson’s writing, I easily could have devoured more of this story.
This book is definitely spicy and it’s very cute! It’s well written and open door, but not totally explicit. Enoki is such a fun female character, one who is determined to make it on her own and learning to find herself again. She also can put a mean curse on a man – if you know you know. And I loved getting to know Rex under that tough exterior!

Overall, this novella is a solid 4.5 stars. I cannot wait for the next novella in the series to come out!

Read for:
- Paranormal romance (witches, werewolves, warlocks)
- Grumpy sunshine
- Animal side kick 🐶 (As a familiar so she can talk!)
- Frenemies to lovers
- Fast paced
- Protective/mini fake dating

This was a fun, quick read! The author really gets you into the setting of the world of magic and paranormals cohabitating in a nifty short novella, perfect for anyone who wants to boost their reading goal without a big commitment.

You follow a witch who leaves Oregon after her jerk boyfriend cheats on her. She picks a small town in Colorado known for its hike. (I found all of this kinda funny since I live in Oregon, which is also a great hiking state lol) She opens a magical self-sufficient coffee shop, which I found clever but also made the witch seem privileged since she didn't need to actually even work. Which, later, the witch does explain. And she does stop by often to re-up the magic. There's a prophecy of some sort that locals obviously associate with the arrival of her. Bad things start happening, like tourists go missing from their hikes. So the law enforce a curfew, which of course our quirky witch completely disregards. She has a familiar which is refreshingly not a cat, but a dog. And of course, the whole premises, she decides to have some fun by trying out a Witch-Specific dating app (with the intent of 'hit and quit it' with tourists, hehehe I like that, not enough books with people looking for "just some fun"). While being wooed electronically by a mystery warlock, she is also fighting/flirting with the werewolf across the street who owns the hiking store.

Will she ever find a date? Will the tourists stop disappearing? Who is this vampire detective that shows up? And will she ever start to obey the local enforcement?

hehehehe
like I said, this was a fun quick read. Very modernized urban romantasy, with fun little details of everyday use of magic. And possibly a setup for a spin off?

Book Review: Witchfished by E.F. Watson

Okay babes—listen. Witchfished was the cutest, most unexpectedly delicious little novella I’ve read in a hot minute. Like… I sat down for a light witchy snack and ended up devouring the whole damn cauldron.

We’ve got Enoki (yes, that’s her name and yes, I adore her) who’s just moved to Druid Falls for a fresh start and maybe some no-strings-attached witchy fun. So what does a modern gal do? Signs up for the Witches & Warlocks Dating App of course! She’s opening this adorable café that basically smells like cozy autumn and caffeine dreams—and then enters Rex, her grumpy neighbour slash enemies-to-lovers situation. 🧡

BUT WAIT—there’s also mystery, missing tourists, and a vampire detective who drinks his coffee black and his sarcasm darker. Add in a sleazy warlock diner owner (ew) and suddenly our girl’s tangled in a curse she didn’t sign up for.

The banter? Perfection.
The flirting? Sweet and sinful.
The plot twist? I did see that coming. But hey it’s a novella
The vibe? Think cozy pumpkin latte meets small-town spooky chaos.

This book gave me witchy giggles, spooky tension, and just the right amount of “I need to move to this town immediately.”

10/10 babes if you want something cute, funny, flirty, and just a bit cursed for spooky season? This is it.

3.5, rounded up

This was everything I love in a story all wrapped into a short novella. There’s mystery, there’s interesting characters, there’s a love story, there’s a strong female character starting over and finding herself. And, there’s some light catfishing, which I’m always eager to find more of in books (I blame my love for the show Catfished).

Enoki is a fun character to be in the head of. She’s unapologetically herself, even when her new town is throwing some strange obstacles her way. It’s hard to start over in a completely new town and state, especially in one that has an odd curse, but she always puts on a brave face and perseveres. And, my hope is that we get to see more of her story as the series continues. Also, I need more of the character Cal, and hopefully he returns in some way.

At times, the dialogue and speed at which things moved felt a tad unrealistic, but for a story that’s told in 100 pages, I think the pacing is as great as it can be considering the ground it covers.
