We are back at Elsie's Bakery in Penworth Bay, where people come to volunteer for a month, and most stay, forever!
Elsie; a wonderful lady who has built a family at the bakery she owns, came up with a great idea. Offer people a working holiday for a month, working in the bakery in the beautiful Penworth Bay in Cornwall; however, as well as offering them a room for a month, most find they fall in love with the area and find their soul mate too.
This book is centred at Christmas time and features Robyn, who doesn't have fond memories of the festive period. She grew up in a household where arguments between her parents were the norm, to the extent they divorced. Between her and her sister, Christmas has become a time to keep her parents apart, so they dont run into each other. It's also Robyn's birthday on Christmas Day, so she doesn't have the fondest memories of her birthday either!
Robyn decides to volunteer at Elsie's bakery this year to escape the fractious atmosphere at home. Believing all relationships are about putting on a front for other people, she's surprised when that doesn't seem the norm in Penworth Bay. Would this have anything to do with a certain person who she runs into on her first day?
The books in this long-running series are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline. These books are easily read in a couple of hours, ideal to read, curled up on the sofa, with a cuppa in hand.
I've already downloaded the next book in this series to read.
