Sugartree Romance #3

Major Fireworks

Rate this book
She’s denied their tension for years. But he’s finally ready to fight. Will an impulsive bet end in friendship… or fireworks?

Dakota has spent the last three years valiantly, and some would say childishly, convincing himself not to want Sadie Mills. He hates the way she drives him crazy, getting under his skin like a splinter he just can’t remove.

And he especially hates that he doesn’t hate it at all.

After an ill-advised Dominoes Night insult, and some light meddling from his family, Dakota challenges Sadie to a bit of friendly competition. But he quickly discovers how blurry the line between friendliness and more can really be, and that, maybe, he’s ready to jump over that line.

4.5 rounded to 5

Major Fireworks by B. R. Goodwin is the third book in the Sugartree romance series. I sure do love this quirky town and the closeness of the Remillard family. I really enjoyed Dakota and Sadie’s story-they were a cute “enemies” to more couple. Loved their banter and antics with each other that hid an attraction. Or so they thought. 😉 So when they make a pact to see who can out friend the other, fireworks really start to go off. Greatly appreciated that while they both had their different struggles they choose to channel their worries toward resting on God’s promises. With this being the third book, I’ve gotten to see special moments with the Remillard siblings and their parents. I’ve especially loved the father’s sage advice with his kids. I absolutely loved Sadie’s parents. I’d love to have a long chat with her mother over biscuits and lemonade. And of course there is Gus the cat who continues to steal the show and I find myself reading with anticipation for when he will make an appearance.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from the author. No positive review was required. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Explosive in all the best ways! Two feisty, sassy characters who undeniably catch feelings but refuse to admit they’ve been snared? Yes, sparks are flying.

Throw in hilarious sibling banter and then over involved townspeople and it’s a recipe for some serious hometown shenanigans. Pies will fly, if you know what I mean.

Swoon, sweetness and undiluted faith abound in this perfect summer romance.

Major Fireworks is the third book in the Sugartree Romance series. While I definitely think you'll have a better understanding of the family and relationship dynamics if you've read the previous books first, I do think this could be enjoyed as a standalone with no problems as well.

Oh my goodness, this book was so GROOD! (iykyk). The tension between Sadie and Dakota has been evident throughout the series and I was so excited to see them get their story... and it absolutely did not disappoint. Truly, I think this series has just gotten better and better with each book! First of all, I really loved the chemistry and yes, the tension, between these two... it was so perfectly done and made for the perfect slow burn that I could not get enough of! Throw in another summertime does of Remillard family shenanigans!? Yes, please! There were so many moments that had me laughing out loud and kept me smiling from start to finish. I absolutely, positively adore this family and cannot get enough of their antics! Mixed in with all that fun and romance was a wonderful reminder of God's purpose for our lives. I love how strong the faith content is within this series... while still keeping realistic characters that aren't perfect. It's the perfect blend and I love it!

Major Fireworks is a Christian, closed-door romance with plenty of PDA, but kisses only and no language.

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

“I know she’s yours, but Lord, please… let her be mine, too.”

———

I am so grateful to have found B.R. Goodwin’s work this year. I have had a book coma each time I’ve finished one of her books and this one was no different. I didn’t sleep and read this book in one sitting.

The message from this book was very poignant as a lot of us are like Sadie and don’t want to allow people to love us because we either don’t feel as though we deserve it or we don’t want to love and be hurt. Some of us are like Dakota in that we are begging for our loved ones to let us in and let us love them.

The beauty in this story was seeing how Sadie eventually let Dakota in and witnessing a beautiful love story unfold. Dakota relentlessly pursued Sadie, affirmed her value, and upheld her boundaries. Sadie pursued healing and intentionally chose to acknowledge and let the past go to pursue a better future.

Major Fireworks isn’t a TBR book. It’s a book that you ignore your TBR pile for. This needs to be your next summer read. Check it out today🌸

This is by far the best book in the sugartree romance series. I love each of the previous books, but this one has a special place in my heart. 5/5

Sadie and Kota having a competition to out-friend each other, while having a prank war. Add in VBS, wayward children and nosy but well meaning members of the sugartree and you get Major Fireworks.

Also, the addition of the lovett brothers to the remillard family events added to the craziness in the best way.

Also, this is the first book in the series to not flash back at any point.

I'm so excited to have gotten to read another B.R.Goodwin book! I loved Kota; his sass, porcelain animal collection, and relationship with Sadie was the best. The tension between this couple was off the charts - I genuinely don't think I've ever read such a true to the trope enemies-to-lovers book.

The gospel presentation, as always, was a joy to read. I can honestly say that's one of my favorite things about Brianna's books, you always see Jesus in her writing ❤

Dakota + Sadie

You guys! How sweet is Dakota? He just wants Sadie to truly see him! He’s got it real bad! I love this story so much! The first kiss in the rain after all that time of them fighting their true feelings was nothing short of beautiful!! I also totally love this family so much. Great story!
This is book 3 in this series and I cannot wait to read the final one!

Favorite quotes -

“I can’t just be friends with you because…” He closed his eyes but then turned to her straight on, eyes tired and red-rimmed. “I can’t look at you and not want you.”

“I know, sweetheart,” Dakota moved an inch closer, lowering his voice just enough over the rain. “I know you carry so much. But you don’t have to do it alone. Remember? You don’t have to be afraid. Not of me. Never of me. We’ll figure it all out together.”

“Tender love is fine, Sadie Girl. Just fine.”

There he was again, pressing his palm into the small of her back and probably singeing his handprint there for all eternity. Like a wildly, hot sorcerer with the power to burn but not break her.

This book is filled with all the sweet, summer, southern, and small-town vibes! I had so much fun reading it. I loved Dakota's family. They are all so loving and crazy that I felt like I was right there with them. The faith themes were incredibly encouraging. Dakota and Sadie were both looking for their purpose in life and had to realize that their true purpose only comes from God. I also appreciated the emphasis on love being a choice, not just a feeling. I enjoyed reading about all the crazy mishaps/shenanigans from sprinkle wars to pouring rain. I like it when books don't present everything as absolutely perfect but include some messes and accidents. Of course, you can't have a Sugartree book without Gus. I adored the role he played, and I can't wait to see what he ends up doing in Ginny's book. This was such a "grood" story!

So many thanks to the author for giving me an ARC! All opinions are my own.

The third installment of the Sugartree Romance series is a hilarious, heartwarming read with alllll the summer vibes! Dakota and Sadie’s playful-rivalry-to-romance is so cute, especially with how his family, and even Gus, get involved ☺️ I love how Dakota is the only boy in the family and his sisters tease him and give him so much grief 😂 But when push comes to shove, they have his back and come together to help him win Sadie over.

I liked that Sadie’s “past” that is alluded to for much of the book turned out to be more complicated and truly painful than you might have expected. I felt for her and could better understand why she was so hesitant to trust Dakota. Her growth as a character was great—but I especially loved Dakota’s arc! Seeing him search for his purpose in life—and find it—was so good.

The ending might have been my favorite of the series so far! It had me giggling and teary-eyed. 🥹❤️

If you’re looking for a quick, fun, faith-filled, romantic read, this is it! ❤️💙🤍

Laugh out loud funny. Shenanigans galore. Quirky in the most delightful way. And yet, thoughtful, spiritually rich and emotionally satisfying— Major Fireworks was just so good! The enemies to lovers trope was executed so well. Throw in summer road-trip vibes, a “well fed” cat sidekick and the most wonderfully crafted cast of characters. Oh, and a an epic plays list to boot. (I’m never getting that LFO song out of my head -ha!) This installment in the Sugartree series was excellent and has me looking forward to Ginny’s story with great anticipation.

Brianna has a real talent of sharing important Gospel truths while writing funny lighthearted romcoms with hilarious - sometimes bordering on ridiculous - and absolutely adorable characters.

I enjoyed book one and two of the Sugartree series a lot and would say my previous statement applies to all three books, but Dakota’s and Sadie’s is my absolute favorite so far.

How they tried to “kill each other with kindness” and “outfriend each other” through their friendliness competition was just the best. This is of course meant to be funny (and trust me, it is!), but I will definitely keep this idea in mind when the next person annoys me. What better way to act around someone who gets on my nerves? And of course we all know this is a biblical advice/course of action, but the way Brianna put it just really spoke to me.

Dakota is actually my favorite Remillard sibling (don’t tell Georgia that) and while he did behave very rude in the beginning, he absolutely and very quickly made up for it and there was just no way Sadie could stay upset with him, even if she would have set her mind on keeping a grudge.

While both Dakota and Sadie already have a strong faith, they both learn to find their purpose in God and not in their own plans.

I absolutely enjoyed this frenemies to lovers romance and to see both grow in their faith while opening up to one another, getting to know each other on a new level.

Absolute favorite scene: Sprinkle wars! I decided against a direct quote, because I personally try to avoid sneak peaks, but you will definitely know what I mean when you get to the point.

* Thank you to the author for letting me read an advanced copy of this book. I leave this review voluntarily and the expressed opinions are my own.

Another amazing installment in the Sugartree romance family! I feel like they are the epitome of RomCom: make you giggle, snicker, chuckle, and even straight up laugh out loud, while also giving you some of the sweetest, swoon-worthy moments that give you the warm fuzzies. The banter between Dakota and Sadie does not disappoint, and I love getting to see the Remillard sibling dynamics as they grow into themselves. I also really love all of the small yet thoughtful gestures that the characters use to show they care and know each other deeply. While so far all the books have grappled a bit with some heavy history in the characters' lives, this one was a little more relatable for me. It was really comforting to read these characters with strong faith still struggling with self-doubt and insecurity, but all the while clinging to Jesus and being reminded of their worth.
This one leaves me so excited to read Ginny's story next, but I also don't want it to be over! The Remillard family (of course including Gus) is just the best.

Major Fireworks consists of all your summer must haves; easy banter, themed drinks, a road trip and time outdoors. The tension between Dakota and Sadie, which has been building since book one of the Sugartree series, finally bursts in this delightful antagonist to lovers’ romantic comedy. Get ready to laugh, fall more in love with the characters and linger in the realization that purpose doesn’t have to trump peace.

B.R. Goodwin’s writing, depth of character and ability to leave you wanting more, has only gotten better and better with each instalment. Virginia aka Ginny’s story coming this fall, will not disappoint.

B.R. Goodwin has done it again with another sweet and cozy romance. Dakota and Sadie's story is one of my favorites out of the Sugartree Romance series. Strawberries, sunflowers, summer time, lemonade, and LOVE are a few of my favorite things. The banter between Sadie and Dakota kept me rolling and swooning the entire time. Frenemies to lovers is exactly how I would describe this gospel driven, Hallmark-esque summertime romance. If you're looking for a sweet romance with zero spice (my favorite), then this series is certainly one you will want to read over and over again, season after season.

It’s a good thing that I finished the last chapter because I was fuming with chapter 20. I loved the enemy to lovers trope and I thought it was all for nothing when I was reading the second to last chapter. I definitely enjoyed that she roped in the noble task of Dakota following in his dad’s steps and joining the Air Force, I just thought that was going to be the end of his relationship with Sadie after they finally got together. I LOVED the last chapter and the extra bonus chapter. I can’t wait to see them again in Ginny’s book and whether or not she ends up with Ryan. I am loving this series!

Ok so we’re back in sugar tree, and this is the third book in the Sugartree hill series, this time we we have Dokota and Sadie and let me tell you, these two are hilarious together.

These two had so much so much chemistry, but both were so stubborn, but thankfully and per usual the Remillard family( with a few towns people) were up to their normal chaos and decided to meddle in Dokota love life..

I loved Sadie from the second to told us what domino Dokota had, and one of my favorite scene was the girls talking about Dokota “ journal”, I couldn’t stop laughing.. I actually really enjoyed the friendship between these two and they had some major chemistry, plus the added in fact that they were both competitive and loved a good bet. I feel like I have to mention that even tho all the siblings are moving on to the next steps, I’m so glad they are all staying close and spending time with each other..

I don’t want to give anything away but the very last scene had me was ** chefs kiss**

I absolutely loved the third installment of the Remillard siblings' stories! Sadie and Dakota had such terrific chemistry, whether they were fighting with and teasing each other or whether they were sharing their struggles and insecurities. As always, the Remillard family were terrific (I loved how invested they all were in Dakota's love life), and Sadie's parents were wonderful! Also, this book had the most mouth-watering food descriptions! It was hilarious, too (especially that pie-eating contest)! I can't wait to read Ginny's story in the next one!

If you have read the first two books in this series, then you know that Dakota and Sadie love to poke fun at each other.

Dakota has wanted to date Sadie for a few years, but Sadie holds back because she doesn't want to risk the relationships she has with all of the Remillard family.

This is a he falls first, friends to more story that will have you chuckling and tearing up because it's so heartwarming to watch these two people find each other in the storm of life, love, and hard lessons.

I love this author and her stories, and again, she brings all the emotions out of me with this one!❤️❤️

Oh goodness. I ADORE Dakota. Sadie is a spitfire and though she comes across as a bit hard and unrelenting with Dakota, once you learn her "why" for keeping her walls up so high, you just can't help but feel for her. But man, I loved seeing Dakota work hard to tear those walls down. As always, Ms. Goodwin puts deep faith messages within the LOL and tender, swoony moments, creating a perfect balance of hope, love, and laughs.

I had such high hopes for this book, however, it did not live up to the enemies to lovers trope I expected. This book got better after about 60% of the way through though! I understand why Sadie was hesitant to give in to her feelings for Dakota and I applaud Dakota for his patience and constant pursuit of her!! A very Dakota and Sadie esque ending too which I liked!

I really love this series. I love the characters and how we always get to see family members from the previous stories! I love the quirky little details like the Red Rose tea and figurines. And the banter between Dakota and Sadie! This story had me laughing aloud, and there were also times when I was tearing up.

Positively Adorable Tension & Sparks

Major & Sadie were written so sweetly. I love reading a healing, redemption story. Sweet Sadie has a back story and Major and his family were healing balm to her. She fought it, part of the story, but I loved the continual sparks and tension! Very good, sweet, clean read! Enjoy all the books in this seties
