Things are heating up in the Black Hamptons, an affluent vacation community of African Americans nestled in Long Island, New York. The families are facing trials and tribulations both individually and collectively, and everyone has a lot at stake.
The Brittons are shocked by the return of Moses, the patriarch of the family. While he’s eager to reunite with his wife and sons, it may be difficult, especially since his wife, Carolyn, has found comfort in the arms of another man. There’s no time to welcome him home, especially with grandson Jesse in the hospital after he is assaulted by Peter Lane.
Anthony Johnson is trying his best to get back into his wife’s good graces after nearly losing their company and everything they worked to build. His efforts may cost him more than he bargained for. Little does he know, Sydney has drama of her own to conceal when a secret from her past shows up in the backyard.
Moses’ return has Jeffrey Bowen busier than ever, leaving no time for his wife, Leslie. Luckily, Aries Cora has plenty of time to keep her company.
Sgt. Lane’s world is turned upside down, and his only goal is to keep his son out of jail. The choice in doing so may be accepting help from the one person he Bobby “the Beast” Boyd, Middleweight Boxing Champion. Bobby is more than willing to come to the rescue, but Sgt. Lane knows it will come with a price he doesn’t want to pay.
The entire community must put aside their differences and come together to fight a common enemy that threatens to destroy the land and legacy of the Black Hamptons.

Picks up where book 1 leaves off. Definitely a cliff hanger! I cant wait for book 3!! A lot of tea was spilled! In true Carl Weber fashion lol. I was like wha… and whooo and ya dont say.. lol
This is a continuation of book 1. I liked how he recapped some of the storylines from the first book to refresh the reader’s memory. I must admit, it helped me. I read book 1 January of last year and didn’t remember anything.
The book was just O K. It didn’t give hardly any information on how Jeffery, Anthony and Everette helped Moses get back. His character took a backseat once he got in the house and just…..disappeared. Nothing on his storyline comeback. And then all of a sudden everyone is unhappy in their marriage and have wandering eyes. It was kind of all over the place about 25% in. Then the “gentrification” piece was left dangling.
I’m sure it will be a book 3…..it won’t be too high on my list to read.
I’m convinced that this was an unfinished manuscript that wasn’t edited. There were so many sub plots that were left hanging, hence another book, probably. Take Gentrification out the title, because it hinted at that being a problem, but it got lost somewhere in all those other pointless words. I think I’m done with Black Hamptons.
Carl Weber never disappoints. This book was good a per usual. The story picks up right where the first book in the series left off. Readers who are fans of Carl Weber or LaJill Hunt will be hooked from the very first page, as the characters face new challenges and twists in their journey. Weber's writing style keeps the reader engaged and eagerly turning the pages to see what happens next. The story ends in a twist that will surprise you in a way that leaves you wanting more. Could there be another book in this series on the horizon?
Overall, this was a fair listen. The story picks up where Black Hampton’s 1 left off with Jamal being beat up by Peter and Moses Britton’s return. The story follows these events as well as someone trying to buy up homes in the Black Hamptons.
I liked the story but would have liked more of a focus on Moses and his return and his handling of his businesses. There seemed to be some inconsistencies in some of the storylines.
The ending was completely unexpected and creates a cliffhanger that could lead to Black Hamptons 3.

My thoughts: ⏯️ From my Black Hamptons Review September 2022 - I don't trust La Jill Hunt, I read Private Property, and the entire book was character introductions. It's been 3 years and she still hasn't finished the story. Hopefully Carl Webber will finish this one and not leave his fans hanging, although I haven't seen anything stating the book is part of a series.🔚 Well they did, it took 3 years but the sequel is here. I still haven't seen the show but I'm glad we get to see what happens next. 📱36% 3:16:41 Chapter 16 Martin Britton - Oh the drama! This is good but there are so many moving parts that I feel by the end many storylines will be incomplete. I can see the cliffhanger from here. 📱68% 6:11:32 Chapter 29 Vanessa Britton - So basically everyone is just being set up to sleep around and cause problems.
I knew this was gonna end on a major cliffhanger but I was not expecting that. I think that may have upped the rating by a half star. Overall it was the same ol' same ol', but additional characters made it too many storylines to move and made the characters more disposable and you don't spend much time with them. In the end, we're not far from where the last book left off, and I'm probably going to have to wait another 3 years to find out what happens next week.
Recommend to others?: Sure. If you like drama this story has plenty of it.
Black Hamptons 1. Black Hamptons (2022) 2. Gentrification (2025)
This was pretty weak compared to the first one. Very meh. I found a few of the plot twists in this to be predictable (even the ending with who it was that Malcom found). Also, I can tell the editor checked out of this a little over halfway through. The “gentrification” in this seemed to play a background role since everyone’s relationship and marriage seemed to be the main focus. I’ll continue on with reading these books but I’m not eager to pick up the next.
Why am I shocked that Carl would do this to me with yet another boo series of his? I have to admit it did start out a bit slower than normal for me BUT it definitely picked up. I will await Black Hamptons 3 like the loyal reader I am.
This was a very good book, especially with Moses showing back up and wanting to change some things that his wife Carolyn had put in place while he was gone. Moses has a plan in place just as Carolyn does.
3.5/5 sooo... this was similar to the show but a little different out comes here and there, this will be the first time I will say the show was better than book.
3.5 stars. Felt slow paced to me, it didn’t really pick up until the last quarter of the book. With that cliffhanger there better be another book coming
