Hey there! I am Anne Calvert and I am new here. Well, at least to the author side of Goodreads. I have been a member for many years. I became a published author in March of 2022 and I am having a blast! Banderidge is my first book and the first book in the Evie Series. More to follow soon. Something you need to know about me is I love Jesus! I have a shirt that says, "Kind of Obsessed with Jesus." Someone asked, "Just kind of?" I told her, "People couldn't handle it if they knew just how obsessed I was." It is a fact. I live in Tennessee with my husband Wesley and our four dogs. I was born a Jersey girl and you know how it is; you can take the girl out of Jersey, but you can never take Jersey out of the girl, although living in the south and of course, Jesus has tamed me a bunch. I enjoy reading, hiking, exploring, and meeting new people. I enjoy what I am doing and hope you will join me for the ride! Connect with me on FB, Instagram, Twitter, or at www.annelcalvert.com
This is the 3rd book in the Evie series. The first 2 books can be read as standalone stories, but I recommend reading the first 2 before this one since this one ties in characters and elements from the others.
What I love about this book:
I love how encouraging it is and how it reminds us to not take everything upon ourselves alone. It also shows the importance of having a good support system around you. It reminds me of a phrase my dad says often, "Let go and let God."
The story is well written. I enjoyed the characters and their subplots.
My criticisms:
I felt that the story could've been longer and more in-depth. I would've loved to read more and at a slower pace. Though wanting more is perhaps more of a praise than criticism.
I was sometimes unclear on how much time had passed between scenes, and events seemed to happen rather quickly. This might be because it is written in the present tense, which usually gives a sense of urgency in writing.
Final thoughts:
I think all Christians should read this book and give Anne the encouragement she deserves with her writing. Her books are beautifully done.
I also hope that non-Christians read it as well. It would give them insight into our lives and hopefully give them much to think about.
