this book !!!! this book right here was dark, spicy, full of trigger warnings, red flags, the whole nine yards.
THIS is what i want when reading a dark taboo romance… Slater and cora omgggg… the mask?? the twist and the turns?? the ENDING??? this book was amazing, i genuinely could not reccomend it more!!!

Definitely check off the trigger warnings ⚠️ 🔪🖤🩸💤
I have thoughts about this one, the writing was great, very descriptive and allowed your head to get into it. Some parts were hard/annoying/FFS, as expected of this type of book. I actually think that I have read too many dark stalkery (yes, that’s a word I made up) romances recently, shock horror is there such a thing, yes, yes there is cos I have it 😈 As I found parts predictable, it could be I’ve read a similar book recently that prompted this or just this type of trope is anticipatory 🤷🏻♀️

Crystal North is an author I stumbled upon when I first started reading and have loved her books since.
I really enjoyed this book, it was so easy to get caught up in.
Cora was always a good girl but has started to be naughty. The Masked man wants to corrupt her, her step brother wants to protect her. They are both trying to claim her. A lot of secrets and secret desires are uncovered.
I did find this book to be predictable, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. That doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the story or the brilliant writing.

I liked the stepbrother / masked man scenario of the story. Loved the toxicity of the hero. However, the heroine wasn't the brightest tool in the shed, when it came to figuring out who the masked man was. Nor was her mother really re: Sean. There was inconsistencies with the hero's character. I'm really not sure what the point of Mr Marx? and his creepy/protectiveness towards the heroine. He was there, then he was gone. 🤷♀️
Some details needed to be hashed out a bit more. I still enjoyed parts of the story.
So it was just an 'ok' read, for me.

Wow. This was amazing. Cora and Slater met in school when they were young and became fast friends. Their parents ended up dating and getting married. So they all moved in together and Slater and Cora were excited about it. One day everything changed and Cora and her mom moved out. They ended up getting divorced. Cora was still in high school and she worked part time at the ice cream shop. She needed to make more money so she started an inappropriate relationship and this person gave her money for pictures. She was very naive. One day years later Slater came back in to her life. She was happy and angry all at the same time. She didn’t know why he stopped talking to her. He said that he was always watching out for her. One day at her prom the person she had an inappropriate relationship with wanted her to meet him. So reluctantly she did. Things turned bad pretty quickly. She was able to get away and ran right into Slater. He threatened this person to leave town and he did. A lot took place during this book. It was on the darker side and I absolutely loved it. Especially the masked man character. He was so dark and I loved it. Cora learned a lot about what Slater went through and he learned a lot about her as well. They both had traumatizing things happen but they made it out on the other side with the help of each other. This was a great partnership with Crystal and Kira.

Cora is bright, loving, naive, dependable, smart and capable. She takes on extra responsibilities once her Mom and stepfather divorce. She has a secret, a masked man has been stalking and visiting her in the night. She’s afraid of him and the way he makes her feel. She shouldn’t like the pain.
Slater, her older step brother is obsessive, protective, damaged, strong, angry and lethal.
He was instantly drawn to Cora when he was introduced to her and has kept a close eye on her as she grows up. He certainly does not like other men’s attentions directed at Cora.
A lot of twists and turns in this story along with the unfolding forbidden love story between Cora and Slater. They are navigating so pretty intense feelings for each other.
This book is VERY spicy and very graphic, again, please pay attention to the trigger warnings. When the masked man is with Cora, he is not gentle or loving like Slater, he is brutal, violent, possessive and dominant. Everything Cora didn’t know that she needed.

What in the actual hell did I just read!?
I’ve read a lot erot!c horror, dark st@lker romances, horror romances etc…
But this one is dark AF
THE MOST dark book I’ve read in my opinion!!!

Well I read this in one sitting it was soo good and so very hawt 🌶️🌶️ the story follows Cora, and FMC who’s been ingrained to be a good girl and it’s led to some serious consequences 😖 she’s certainly and innocent that manages to get herself into some precarious situations 😳 thankfully her stepbrother has an ultra protective mode that keeps cropping up in the nick of time 😅 even though he has his own demons to contend with 😢although I’m not sure he can save her from the masked stalker that keeps appearing and taking liberties with our naive FMC 😮 he certainly introduces her to a world of dirty darkness (check TWs)! I did guess who the Masked Man was very early on (and was right) but that no way detracted from the enjoyment of reading this 👍 the only unanswered question I had was Mr Marx and what was his connection to all of this (again this did not affect the story just me wanting to tie everything up) if you want a dirty depraved read this is definitely one for you 🌶️

I read all the triggers the authors listed and I still wasn’t prepared how dark. The authors did a wonderful job getting this reader to continue to read Cora, Slater and MM’s story. The story was well written where this reader was able to get the background on each character and understand why the things happened the way they did. I didn’t figure out who the MM was sure until toward the end of the book. Very happy the way the story ended.

Wow! What a Crazy, Unforgettable Read
This is a dark and twisted read. Please check out the trigger warnings before reading this and if you don’t, please don’t penalize the author afterwards. This book was EVERYTHING! Dark, steamy, engrossing and I couldn’t put it down. I could have kept reading on and on with this one and loved Cora, The Masked Man (MM) and Slater. All three were strong loveable characters, even MM in all the baddest of ways. There were many times that my heart was in my throat and I questioned my sanity for loving this read. LOL. If you are a dark romance reader, this needs to be your next must read!

I really enjoyed this story. The twists, the darkness of it, it keeps you guessing! I wish we could have more of Slater and Cora, but everything gets all tied up before ending it with a HEA, I just don't want to let go of these characters!

I am an absolute sucker for a dark romance with a million trigger warnings and these ladies did not disappoint me.
The FMC is somewhat nieve and the MMC is hugely possessive which is always a recipe for a good story.
I prefer more spice in my books, not that this book is short of it, I'm just a smut slu....

This is one dark book....I love dark, the darker the better for me!! So when I read the triggers for this and the blurb then I knew I needed to read this!!
These are new authors to me but honestly the writing is so good I couldn't put this down it sucked me in 100%. Cora has always been a good girl she has to take on more responsibilities when her Mum and Stepfather divorce but she has a secret!!! A masked man has been stalking her and making her do things when he comes to visit her in the night and he isn't gentle at all!! He's brutal , possessive, Dominant and violent...... please be warned when reading these scenes between these two they are very intense!! So definitely check the triggers at the beginning do not go in blind I beg you.
Slater is Cora's step brother he is obsessed and protective of her. He's always liked her since they were introduced but that has grown to obsession when they meet up again and he doesn't like any other man to give her attention!! Wow!! Just when you think you’ve read the darkest book, you are very much mistaken and this one is another to add to that list!! Please check all trigger warning before reading this book…..surprisingly I still haven’t found one that makes me DNF a book…not sure if that’s a good thing or bad? 😂
This book is written with 3 POV’s:
Cora, the main character throughout. The good girl that always attracts the wrong attention. Helping her mum get by she finds herself going down a rabbit hole that she’s not sure she can handle.
Slater, the ex step-brother. Randomly drifting in and out of Cora’s life. The slightly older brother that Cora’s wants to be your best friend but she never knows where she stand with them.
And then the Masked Man, from an “accidental” run in that saves Cora’s from a difficult situation, that takes whatever he wants.
From the very start I wanted to know more about Cora and how she got into the relationship she did with Victor, of which I thought was going to be the main forbidden romance. Well how wrong was I? Just the fact that there was a masked man was enough for me to add this book to my reading list! And those scenes wow!
There were a few things within in the book that I found were slightly predictable but at the same time not entirely as you would expect, which keeps the read engaged and wanting to read on.
But definitely a book I’d recommend for anyone looking for a dark/stalker/masked man romance.

My Review: I loved the premise of this story in the beginning, however, it fell flat for me in the end. I liked the dark and sexy nature of it, the mysteriousness of the masked man and the taboo(ish) longing of the two main characters, but several plot holes and confusing aspects within the progression of their romance spoiled my overall opinion. The spice was violent and the big twist was revealed sloppily and didn’t make much sense.

I am not sure if this is considered thriller but it had me guessing and second guessing myself through the whole thing. I was definitely thrilled! Some may consider this taboo because the step brother/step sister but the parents aren’t even together anymore. I was constantly going back and forth on who the masked man was.
The end had so much to take in. It was a total whirlwind. I enjoyed this book because come on…. Who doesn’t love a masked man? Trust me, there are characters you will loathe and there are characters that completely redeem themselves. In the end, I found this book entertaining. This author knows how to write dark romance!

Whispers Of Obsession is a dark read. We get a lot of elements of $t@lking, step brother taboo, noncon. So reader beware, please read the TW before reading.
Cora is torn between two people. Slater, her step brother and MM, her masked man who torments her. Slater makes her feel loved and cared for, but MM gives her some of the darkness that she craves. Slater has a tortured past and is trying to cope with this as well as protect and care for Cora as much as he can. MM has a lot of dark thoughts and acts on them. He does a lot of traumatic and dark things to Cora, which she loves and hates at the same time.
There is a lot of mystery and suspense involved with the main storyline. Trying to figure out who MM is and what his true goal is with relation to Cora. This was a page turner and I couldn't stop reading until I got to the end.

Before you begin this book, I suggest you clear your schedule, as once you start you will forget any commitments. Also make sure you have snacks and fluids to hand, so you can eat and drink without having to stop reading. I promise you, you won't want to stop.
Crystal North and Kira Roman, have done fantastically with Cora, her Masked Man (MM's) and Slater (her stepbrotherstory), it MF, so who will she choose - read to find out.
I connected with Cora on so many levels, being seen as a good girl, but craving the drkness. I love how Crystal and Kira have written her, her story arc and the dynamic between her, MM and Slater.
I highly recommend that all my fellow good girls, check those TWs, hydrate and spread these pages, your won't regret it.

I’m still new to reading Crystal North’s work and this is my first time reading anything by Kira Roman. I enjoyed this dark stalker romance, with its twists and suspense. The mystery of the ‘Masked Man’ really keeps you on edge for a lot of the book.
Cora has been taught to be a “good girl” from a young age. Then she attracts the eye of a teacher only to have a masked man save her and then promise to break her. The Masked stranger may want to break her, but at the same time he might be the only way to save her. His pet name of “little darkness” had me melting.
This book hits a lot of my favorite tropes and lots of triggers.

Smut and mystery: 2 of my favorite things. This book is a dark, stalker romance with Cora being hounded by a masked mystery man. Cora is an innocent, 18 year old girl who has some not so innocent wants. The masked man is her way of getting them, even as she works through wanting something she knows she shouldn't.
I had a couple of theories on who the masked man could be, so it was a fun mystery to try to solve alongside the romance aspect of this book. I also liked the twists and turns this book took, and it was definitely a story that made you feel for both main characters on what they have gone through. I loved the plot and the spice was definitely steamy.
This book is DARK so be sure to check those TW/CWs before reading. But definitely recommend if you like your romance dark and twisted.

Cora is a good girl, striving to please the people in her life until a mask man allows her to explore the depraved parts of her psyche. When her ex step brother comes back into her life she is torn between the sweet affection of Slater and the roughness of her masked man.
The book was hard to put down and the perfect binge. My only criticism is I felt the book description gave away key plot points, this is likely a me issue being able to anticipate where the story will go. Even going into the book being sure plot points were given away, I was second guessing myself at every turn.
The trigger list is long and should not be taken lightly, Crystal and Kira vividly bring the story to life and made me second guess my sanity.
If dark romance is your thing pick up your copy today, you won’t regret it.
