Interesting stories. Very relevant to the times.

Kokkoon muthal aakaasham vare raises the question whether a woman needs her husband to die to fulfill even the small pleasures in life.

Porutham is a story where the essentiality of horoscopic porutham in a marriage is questioned.

Mulberry deals with the anguish of a student when she is forced to deal with entrance exams for MBBS. The way mulberry is related to the story was a clever craft .

Chithira Do you believe in rebirth?

Chandra deals with a very common phenomenon of today’s modern society extramarital affairs and how the involved parties act with grace and dignity.

On air has a dark tone with an ending which makes the reader tremble.

Kaadirangumbol is a story about a woman who has anxiety in dealing with her everyday life and encounters unexpected events.

Kalli or robber reminded me of Saki stories with the punch line in the end.

Kaali the title story is when a woman turns into an avatar of Kaali and starts to wield more power than the Goddess.

The stories need a bit more of polish to make it more palatable is my personal opinion.

ടിവി അവതാരകയും അഭിനേത്രിയുമായ അശ്വതി ശ്രീകാന്തിന്റെ ഒമ്പത് കഥകളാണ് കാളിയിൽ ഉള്ളത്. എഴുത്ത് തനിക്ക് എത്രത്തോളം വഴങ്ങുമെന്നും ലളിതമായ ഭാഷയിൽ, എന്നാൽ ശക്തമായിത്തന്നെ തന്റെ എഴുത്തിലൂടെ വായനക്കാരുമായി കണക്റ്റ് ചെയ്യാൻ സാധിക്കുമെന്നും അശ്വതി ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിലൂടെ തെളിയിക്കുന്നു. വെറും ഒരു മാസമെടുത്താണ് അവരിത് മുഴുവനാക്കിയത് എന്നതും കൗതുകമുണർത്തുന്നൊരു കാര്യമാണ്. ആമുഖത്തിൽ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ അവർക്കറിയാവുന്നതോ കടന്നുപോയതോ ആയ പെൺജീവിതങ്ങളുടെ കഥകളാണിത്, ഒമ്പത് പെൺകഥകൾ.

"ശരിയാണ്. അപ്പായാണ് ചെലവിനു തരുന്നത്. പഠിപ്പിക്കു ന്നത്. അപ്പോ നമ്മള് അപ്പനമ്മമാരോട് കടപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ജനിച്ചതുകൊണ്ട് ഉണ്ടായിപ്പോയ വല്ലാത്തൊരു കടംതന്നെ.

More than merely a compilation of nine short stories, Aswathy Sreekanth's Kaali is an emotional voyage into the lives of women navigating a society that frequently ignores them. Sreekanth vividly depicts resiliency, metamorphosis, and silent strength in these tales. A different woman is introduced in each chapter, each with her own challenges and victories but all connected by the common experiences of self-discovery, identity, and social expectations. It seems as though the author is sitting across from you, exchanging anecdotes over a cup of tea, because of how personal and honest her writing is. Because the women in Kaali feel genuine, like people you may have heard of or met, their travels have even greater impact than if they were merely fictional characters.

ടീവി അവതാരകയും അഭിനേത്രിയുമായ അശ്വതി ശ്രീകാന്തിന്റെ ഒൻപത് പെൺകഥകൾ ആണ് കാളിയിൽ ഉള്ളത്. നമ്മൾ പലപ്പോഴുമായി കണ്ടുമറന്നതോ കേട്ടുപരിചയമുള്ളതോ ആയ കുറേ സ്ത്രീകളുടെ കഥകൾ. ചിലത് എന്നെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിച്ചു, ചിലത് എന്നെ ചിന്തിപ്പിച്ചു , ചിലത് എന്റെ കണ്ണ് നനയിച്ചു. വളരേ ലളിതവും ബംഗിയുള്ളതുമായ എഴുത്താണ്. എല്ലാ കഥകളും ഇഷ്ടമായി. ഈ ഒരു പുസ്തകം കൊണ്ട് തന്നെ അശ്വതി ഒരു പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട എഴുത്തുകാരിയായി മാറി.

This book is a perfect example of a modern collection of stories and methods of storytelling. the stories are set in the most local areas of Kerala, and the characters are all ordinary people, having the most common problems in life. I found the stories, apart from its freshness in the setting, nothing new, or for that matter, didn't feel that it was worth the hype.
