The Shattered Embrace Series is one of my favourite series. You don’t have to, but I suggest you do read the books in order, or you are missing out.
Deepening Desire is the fourth steamy book where you get to experience the sinful Club Shattered Embrace. Want to bring your deepest & darkest desires to life, then look no further. It is a second chance romance that is full of spice, angst, drama and of course BDSM.
What would Club Shattered Embrace's Indulgence Isle be without a BDSM themed wedding? This is a sexy, erotic, sensual tale where Frankie and Reid come together for the wedding, but it is marred by past hurt and pain cause by misunderstanding and heartbreak.
Frankie is determined for the truth to come out. To have a chance at love they must confront the truth and forgive.

Reid Matthews is happy his friend is getting married and with him being part of the security and the event itself is a marvellous thing but there is one wrinkle in the plan, his ex-fiancée and the man who she was with that faithful night his best friend, Kane.
As he arrives he is drawn to Frankie more than ever, although when he left he cut them both out of his life and refused to listen to any excuse they may have given to the fact he found them embraced in his bedroom, although his is a consummate professional he is still hurting but his friends seem to want them to at least draw the line under the whole thing as it is waring deep for both of them, but can Reid forgive and more on or are his feelings still raw and deep for this stunning women.
Francesca is determined to ignore and do her job for Ashton and the wedding of the century but with Reid as her boss this is going to be difficult as she is angry but still harbour deep feeling but will she be able to overcome the hurt and betrayal she felt when he just walked out and not even wanted to hear her side of the story. As they are pushed closer together to work, so after an encounter she and Reid decide to air out the differences but as they talk the more the feelings raise to the surface, but with both of them will they be able to put the past behind them and trust and move forward.
This is the fourth book in this series and follows these two characters which have feature in the other books as secondary characters and I am so glad they have there own story in this book. You can read this book as a stand alone book but it is better to read from the beginning not only to understand who the other characters are and how they got to this place but they are just good books.
I loved the vulnerability showing in both characters and the history they had and now playing six years on and they still have feelings for each other and that they are determined to prove they can be together. I loved the secondary character and Chef Antoine was a hilarious addition to the heavy conversations between Reid and Frankie. I have loved Ashton as a character from the first book and it was lovely to see her get her prince charming in the end.
I can wait to read the next instalment and maybe give Kane a little love.

Now, he is responsible for the security at Zachary and Ashton's wedding at Indulgence Island, owned by Shattered Embrace. Despite requiring a helicopter to access it, the high-profile guest list makes the serene island a potential target.
While he doesn't have any problem with the wedding party, Kane and Francesca have been brought in for added security. Initially, Reid had planned to avoid interacting with Francesca, but Derek crashed the idea by placing her and Reid on the same team. Avoiding her wasn't going to work.
Reid is still blinded by what he sees as betrayal. And he wants answers. When Francesca takes refuge from the party, Reid enters her suite. He wants her to tell him what had happened that night. His brutal honesty and vulnerability only makes her more defiant. Over the following days, will Reid be able to rebuild the trust he walked away from? Can Francesca overcome her own feelings of abandonment to give Reid a second chance?
The tension and slow build are almost torture in this romance novel of redemption. I felt Francesca was punishing Reid by dragging out the full story of what his impulsive actions had caused her. Only truth and forgiveness could possibly heal the painful experience for both of them. Kane seemed fully vested in Francesca’s emotional security and gave several warnings to not lose her authentic self to Reid. While she was a submissive, Francesca has an undeniable pride that she uses effectively to defend her feelings. The unpredictable plot with dark undertones of possible danger kept me from putting this book down. I have read the preceding novels and found them to be excellent. This one, however, exceeded my expectations and deserves a five-star rating.

Making it worse is that Kane, the former best friend, is also trapped on the island with them.
Frankie and Reid try to avoid their connection by ignoring each other, except when necessary in the line of duty. But that doesn’t work. The chemistry and magnetism is too strong. They can’t fight it. But, there is so much that needs to be said. So many truths to be revealed. When those get revealed will they crush any start of a second chance that Reid and Frankie might be building? Will Reid accept the truth?
As Frankie and Reid manage to navigate their relationship, many cupids help push them in together.
Good story. There is more that I wanted out of this couple. After the initial confrontation between Reid and Kane, I would have hoped for at least a conversation after Reid found out the truth. Also, not sure Reid would have conceded so quickly. Yes, the entire situation had been eating at him for 6 years but those thought patterns don’t change after just one conversation. The anticipation of Reid and Frankie together was great. Looking forward to Kane and Reid’s healing in the next book.

This is part of the Shattered Embrace series, which I have loved reading. This story takes place at Zachary and Ashton's wedding on Indulgence Isle, a BDSM themed island. It's an emotionally charged second chance romance. When Reid came home early from a deployment, he walked in on Francesca in the arms of his best friend Kane. He immediately thought the worst, left and never looked back. Six years later, they are both on the security team of their friends high profile wedding and are stuck together for an entire week. Escape is impossible, with every glance and touch between them charged with unresolved pain and undeniable desire, forcing them to confront the truth of their past and the searing D/S connection they once explored. The constant presence of Kane, the reason for their split, only amplifies the simmering tension between them. To get through this week, Reid finally decides he needs to know what happened that night. Is he really ready to accept the truth and the consequences of his actions that affected not only him but Francesca and Kane far more than he realized? I love that this was a dual POV, as we get to read and feel all the emotions they both go through. This made it feel more realistic and relatable. I can't wait for the next book and hopefully we'll get to see the wedding all the way through and maybe let Kane or Graham find love too.

That is how you do slow burn. *Fans self again* lol. The incredible Alyndra Quinn does it again with the newest installment in the Shattered Embrace series. This time we finally get to learn more about Reid, while also getting more of the original couple Zachary and Ashton, lord they have a special place in my heart. Anyways, while this is the fourth book in the series and it could technically be read as a standalone, you would be cheating yourself out of the A-to-Z journey of the couple getting married that has brought Reid and his ex, Frankie, back together.
This is a perfect slow burn with high tension buildup, continual flow so you don’t say, lord what is taking so long, with the bonus of second chance love and forced proximity. Six years is a long time but just a blink when you’ve been hurt. Reid had his world shattered when he caught his fiancée Frankie with his best friend. Walking away from everything and starting over. Seeing her brought all the pain back to the surface but also the love that never went away. Seeing them overcome the pain and finally get answers was chefs’ kiss. Will Reid finally get his happily ever after with Frankie? Or will the past be too much for forgive? Lord now the countdown for book 5, Savoring Surrender, December 7th, 2025, for Jordan and Kane’s story. I’ll see you there.

Both Reid and Frankie are at the wedding and the tropical paradise is bringing back memories, both of desire and unresolved pain, but Kane is also enjoying the wedding festivities. Once again I was fully immersed in the world of Shattered Embrace and was kept happily turning the pages. I was taken on an emotional rollercoaster following Reid and Frankie’s journey. Their chemistry sizzled off the page and led to some rather steamy scenes. I loved ‘catching up’ with past characters and Zachary and Ashton’s wedding, along with the tropical island were brought vividly to life making me feel fully immersed in the story.
Both Reid and Frankie are at the wedding and the tropical paradise is bringing back memories, both of desire and unresolved pain, but Kane is also enjoying the wedding festivities. Reid and Frankie had begun to explore their D/s connection before the misunderstanding ended their relationship causing them both heartbreak. The couple have to confront the truth and forgive one another if they are to have a second chance at love and a future together.

This was a second chance slow burn romance that followed Reid’s story. He was coming home from a mission and found his fiance and best friend in each others’ arms. He didn’t stay to find out what happened or ask any questions, he fled into another mission. What he didn’t know was what really happened and how it affected everyone’s lives. Frankie, or Francesca to Reid, has been working for the same company and in the same city as Reid but they have learned to avoid working directly together or at the same events. Reid and Frankie are thrown together at their friend’s wedding on a secluded island. The bride requested them specifically and the tension is high from their first sight of each other. It seems like everyone on the island is rooting for them, even the quirky and outspoken chef. They start to talk and realize that they both still have feelings, even 6 years later. They need to decide if they can trust each other again. Reid also lost his best friend, Kane, and I was surprised they never really talk in the book to try and fix their relationship - maybe in the next book! I enjoyed the island and the fun wedding festivities and the story line. This one had a few BDSM scenes and explanations of activities but it was really tame.

Our main characters in this story are Reid and Francesca, but we get a heavy dose of Zachary and Ashton as they are getting married. Six years earlier Reid had found his fiancé, Francesca, and best friend, Kane, in a compromising embrace. He and and Francesca had recently started to dabble in a D/s connection but he decided at that point to walk away from everything. When they get partnered together as security the tension between them is thick. There was a lot left unsaid and it has finally come to the point where the truth has to come out. Francesca wants nothing more than to clear up the misunderstanding. At first it seemed like Reid wanted to avoid her and a confrontation altogether but it was inevitable under the circumstances. Will finally getting the truth and forgiving one another allow them to rekindle their romance? Or will any chances at a future be shattered? If you enjoy a steamy second chance romance you will definitely enjoy this story. This has been a good series and it is well worth adding to your collection. I don't personally feel that you need to read the series in order since this could be read on its own however this does have characters from the other books.

While this is book 3 of the series, I was able to follow along without any prior history between any previous couples, including this one. This story belongs to Reid and Francesca. These two have a deep seated history and it ended tragically. What Reid thinks he saw between Francesca and his best friend Kane might not be what was actually going on, but Reid cut ties with both of them with no explanation or word otherwise. They all come together for Zachary and Ashtons wedding; two friends they all know in the BDSM world. Reid is brought on for security by Zachary's brother Derek, who also happens to be Reid's, Francesca, and Zane's boss as they all work for the same company. They haven't saw each other in 6 years and they're both reunited on Indulgence; the private island of Zachary's super inclusive BDSM club, for Zachary and Ashton's wedding. What follows is a well written, thought out, and well rounded start to what I think will be a great story. While there are talks of BDSM, this story doesn't give hardcore details. While it does end in a cliffhanger and you know there has to be plenty of story left, it was very enjoyable and I cannot wait to dive into what happens next!

Deepening Desire is the fourth book in the Shattered Embrace book series by Alyndra Quinn. This book includes a lot of adult content and has BDSM situations. I was so excited to read about Ashton and Zachary's magical wedding, which happens on an island away from the public eye. Due to the high security necessities of the wedding, they call in their best security team, including Kane, Reid, and Frankie, all of whom still have not resolved their past issues with one another. We finally get to understand what happened to cause the dissension between Frankie and Reid and why they broke up, and why Kane and Reid are no longer best of friends. This book stayed true to the theme of this book series and does not fail to entertain with a romantic read. The adult content is handled in good taste and is a key factor in the storyline of the story, without being distracting from the purpose of the story. I love that we get to know and understand more of the characters that we have gotten a glimpse of throughout the other books in this series. I cannot wait for this series to continue in book 5 in December 2025!

Deepening Desire is Book 4 in the Shattered Embrace series bringing Reid and Frankie's story to life with a second chance steamy romance. While this book could be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading this series in order as many of the characters are intertwined in the book.
Being apart for 6 years, Reid and Frankie were a once upon a time.....but when Reid feels betrayed of the highest level, he leaves Frankie without any word nor explanation. Six years later, Reid and Frankie are together again for high level end security detail for the exclusive wedding of Zachary and Ashton. At first rage take over Reid, unable to let go of the betrayal he felt years ago. When Frankie decides to come out with the truth of the fateful night years ago, Reid knows the mistake he made not trusting his love from the beginning.....deciding to go all in on a second chance and making up for past decisions of mistakes.
THe chemistry is off the charts between Reid and Frankie......but will they be able to get over the past and be able to trust again... Definitely read and find out!

Did he really see what he thought he saw? This story follows as these two dance around each other and take a painfully long time to even begin to talk about the problems. The chemistry and the frustration in this book is maddening! Oh but the ending, is sublime.

Sometimes life just has a way of making you think that your whole world is imploding and it's over. Six years ago, Reid found his fiancée in the arms of his best friend, and he walked away from everything. No letting anyone explain. No nothing. Just gone. Now he is back for an assignment (wedding security) and of course Frankie has to be a part of the same team trying to make the lovely week go off without any issues. How can they work around each other when they can't even talk to one another? This is going to be a long wedding! The tropical paradise that is a lavish BDSM-themed island sets the backdrop to the wedding and what's to come. Everything is charged. Every glance, every touch, and every moment. Can these two keep it together for the bride and groom's big day? Day one has them both rethinking taking this assignment in the first place. This is such a wonderful book. I really enjoyed the other books in the series as well. This CAN be read as a standalone, but let me tell you, just like most series, just get them all!! You don't want to start mid-series and have to go back and get the other books. You WILL want the other books!! Can't wait to read more from this author!!

I have enjoyed reading this author from the first book I picked up. I enjoyed their writing style that made her characters pop off the pages. The author’s attention to details made the character’s story feel realistic and kept me turning pages to the end. I enjoyed how the author pulled me into the story from the start. This is a well written story about a broken relationship and a truth that is bursting to break free. Frankie broke Reid’s heart but now years later they are face to face at a security event. She is determined to set the wrong to right. Their story turns into one of truth, forgiveness and a second chance. I enjoyed both of these characters and what they added to their story. They are relatable and keep the story engaging. I enjoyed watching their growth as well as their steamy chemistry throughout. I found their story easy and entertaining to read. I found this story to be fast paced and hard to put down. This is a great story and I highly recommend this story.

Deepening Desire (Shattered Embrace Series) by Alyndra Quinn. This is a steamy, sexy series and I have really enjoyed it. This is the 4th book in the series and although it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading them in order to better understand the story and the characters. This is the story of Reid and Francesca (Frankie) and the crazy world of the BDSM lifestyle and they all attend a BDSM club. Reid thinks he caught Frankie and Kane in a compromising position and while they tried to explain it wasn't what it looked like, Reid cut them both off. They all get together for Zachary & Ashton's wedding, another couple from the BDSM club. They hire Reid to be security for the wedding and when they see each other again after 6 years its like time stood still. The wedding is being held at Zachary's club and feelings and tension run thick. Will they end up realizing that they are meant for one another or will they let the past mistakes and hurt cause them to lose each other again. Such a good series.

Deepening Desire is the next book in the Shattered Embraced Series and it didn’t disappoint. The author has fireworks going off in this one. Some good some bad you will just have to jump in to find out why.

It’s her presence that’s throwing him off kilter. Which could be detrimental to the job he needs to complete. Will he finally sit down and listen to what she has to say?

Seeing Reid again opened up the can of worms but one she wishes she could get him to sit down and listen to her side of the story. Clear the air, things aren’t what he perceived. This is the 4th book in this series and can be read without having read the previous books but it is my suggestion you read the previous books in this series because you will get to know the characters and they are great reads. In this book we find out more about Reid and Frankie. Reid and Frankie have a history that is complicated, they were once engaged to be married. We learn the truth about what happened 6 years earlier when everything fell apart for them. Reid has managed to keep his distance from Frankie all these years but now they are on Indulgence Island for their friend's wedding and there is no way to avoid each other any longer. The chemistry between these two is still off the charts but that doesn’t change the hurt from the past. Will they get closure, a second chance or keep avoiding the talk they need to have? To find this out then you need to dive right in. This author did an excellent job of keeping me glued to the pages wanting to know what was going to happen. I recommend this book.

Holy slow burn Batman!
This is a bit of a deviation for Mrs Quinn, the slow burn that is. I’m not at all complaining though because the tension was so stinking hot!
Reid and Francesca’s second chance built such tantalizing anticipation I couldn’t put the book down! Usually slow burns frustrate me, but I feel like the timing was perfect for these characters. They don’t fall back into each other’s arms right away; they take their time, careful of flimsy walls and still unwhole hearts.
I so enjoyed seeing the strong and capable Frankie in her vulnerable moments. It made her surrender that much sweeter.
I also loved getting glimpses of other characters in this book. Of course it centers around Zachary and Ashton’s wedding so they feature pretty heavily. It’s always a joy to see those two together.
The author has set up future books well and I’ll just be over here waiting not so patiently for my boo Graham’s book 🥺

I have read a few books from this author and she never disappoints. This is the fourth book of the very amazing series Shattered Embrace. I would read these books in order because there are previous characters in this book as well. This story was a slow burn but it was so addictive. These two characters are going to have you hooked from the start. I could not put this book down so it only took me a little over a day to finish it. I can’t wait to see who she will write about next. I hope it will be about Graham.

I have loved every single book I’ve read by this author, but this series is on a whole other level. It pulls you in from the very first page and doesn’t let go. Reid and Frankie’s story is so emotionally charged, and I loved every single bit of it. The chemistry between them is electric, but the real beauty of this book lies in how the past miscommunications and betrayal slowly unravel. The tropical setting and the BDSM-themed island wedding create the perfect backdrop for these two to confront their past and see if there's any chance of rebuilding what they lost. And let me just say, Kane’s presence adds a layer of tension that kept me on edge the whole time! The characters are beautifully flawed and watching them navigate their second chance at love is both heart-wrenching and captivating. I couldn’t put this book down. If you’re a fan of steamy, emotional romances with a dash of suspense, this one will absolutely blow you away!

Deepening Desire by Alynda Quinn is Book 4 in the Shattered Embrace series. While this is a series, it isn’t extremely necessary to read the first 3 before this one, but it’s entertaining enough that you might get sucked into this and all the couples that surround Reid and Frankie in this installment. Reid and Frankie are leads on the security team to cover their friend Zach and Ashton’s wedding on an isolated island. Zach and Ashton are involved in the BDSM world, as are many of their friends, so their job is to keep things locked up tight. The problem is, six years ago, they were engaged to be married and there was some miscommunication, and everything blew apart. Every time they see each other, the sparks are instant, and everyone in their vicinity can feel the chemistry AND the angst between them. They have to figure out if it’s worth giving up or starting over.

This series is one that I have enjoyed from the start and this book is another brilliant addition. I loved how, even though it was part of an already established series, the author knew how to change the pace of the story while still keep the overall feel. This book is the first one by I have read by this author that has more of a slow burn approach. I always though part of the appeal of this author was the chemistry and spice but this book has shown that her writing style is not all about that.
I loved the characters in this book as well. They had so much history between them and misunderstandings to overcome. At times it felt like these things were insurmountable but you couldn’t stop yourself from rooting for them. This is a well written, brilliant book and a fantastic series overall.
