Amazing book about having a healthy lifestyle! James Duigan does not try to 'brain-wash' you into eating organic and raw, but he thoroughly explains why it's better. On top of this, he really opens your eyes about a lot of foods which are believed 'healthy' in popular opinion. Clean and Lean is super fun to read - what I loved most are the Bad - Better - Best tables (a very visual representation of how to replace unhealthy and fattening foods by their healthier alternatives). I highly recommend it if you want to change your views on clean eating!

Easy to follow

Fantastic book a lot of books like this promote ingredients that are hard to come by but this book keeps it as simple as possible. The exercises are practical that can easily be incorporated into your routine.

It is good for me to think about nutrition and I'm planning to loosely follow the 14 day plan based on what I can find easily around me.

Some interesting pointers & it’s given me the inspiration to make some changes. Some of the book felt a little out of date, but research & opinions do change over time, so that is to be expected.

I first used the previous version of this book 2 years ago and lost nearly a stone in 2 weeks (just to clarify I was about a 12 stone with an ideal weight of 10 and half stone). Now I can hear you thinking that it is clearly a fad diet or unbearable strict, and well, you'd be wrong.
Admittedly the first week is tough when you start cutting out all the toxic crap, but the second week was far easier. After that it is really easy to stick to. You can enjoy really great food and the occasional blow out.
The diet itself is simple, no processed food, and the trick to slimming down is the quick and easy stretching routine in the morning and before bed.
So as far as the concept of lean and clean lifestyle goes I would thoroughly recommend it. The thought process and logic that it takes you through really struck a cord with me.
Now I had originally borrowed the book the previous time, and as the weight had crept back up again, I decided to repurchase the book, but could only lay my hands on this version. Now I decided to get the kindle version and unfortunately this book does not work as a kindle book as it makes it very hard to se what is going on and the pictures mess up the format of the pages. My advice buy a hard copy.
Overall I'd give the content 5 stars but the kindle version 2 stars but still 4 overall.

"Beautiful is how you feel and not how you look"

The first part of this Clean & Lean Diet is very interesting as James Duigan writes about all the bad effects of sugar, toxins and so on. It is very detailed and it's give very good knowledge on nutrition. Now looking at the 14 days diet, i feel it is way to complicated to follow. I am used to follow special and very specific diet plans such as the proteins diet like Dukan. But as a Belgium European, this didn't fit at all to what i am used to. The breakfast proposed were way to big (as all the meals in general). I personally can not start the day eating poached eggs, broccoli, cooked tomatoes and so on. It was also impossible with my schedule to have to cook every meal, and most of them needed a microwave to warm them if prepared in advance. Looking at the recipes it was also very hard to be able to replicate them. Sometimes four types of specific of nuts and seeds for one meal ! :o
I recommend it for the first part, but with regards to the diet part i am not really convinced and due to all the negative comments i made before.

I love James Duigan's thorough approach to dieting. He proposed a diet for life, which is healthy, delicious, fun and what's most important - sustainable.

I loved his attention to all aspects of being healthy like relaxing and avoiding stress, besides eating healthy and exercising.

The succinctness and brevity of the book is another plus. I prefer short clear message I can read over and over, interspersed with gorgeous pictures.

The good/better/best eating options are a great guide and a constant reminder what you can do better:) The 14-day-plan and the recipes are a real saver for both unimaginative and imaginative dieters:)

I've read a lot of diet/lifestyle books and Mr. Duigan proposes a plan on that is similar to others. Because of his Australian background, some of his recommendations require a bit of extra work, such as converting from grams to pounds or ounces in the recipes. I like the concept, but have found other versions of his proposal easier to follow or get on board with. Doesn't matter what I think if it works for you!

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. I love reading books about nutrition, clean eating, etc. And this one was absolutely amazing. Full of information. If you are into these books you will find a lot of stuff you already know but they are explained in much better way. It´s just easier to understand. If you wanna change your lifestyle, just go and buy this book. It´s perfect!

Largely similar to the flat tummy book that he has written. Only a few new ideas in the book that are different to the tummy one really. The physical exercises are different though as they are more for total body than just focusing on flattening your abs.

Excellent diet, it works and you feel healthier and full of energy too but the weight does go back on quickly too if you eat too much of the good old bad stuff again rather than the once a week 'eat what you like' day

Very short, to the point read. Gives just enough info and science behind the info he is stressing. Easy to read without being too elementary or boring. It motivated me to begin a small life stye change because he made it do-able.

Lots of information to grasp, but along with my handy highlighter and sticky notes I believe I will get there. It all sounds amazing, now to put it to practice.

Ja esmu reāla, tad atliek vien secināt, ka šis dzīvesveids man ir nereāls. Var censties kaut ko no tā ievērot, ņemt vērā, bet jau tagad zinu - man neizdosies.

I read this book because I was interested in what Emilia Clarke does for diet and exercise. The diet and exercise tips are great. I skipped the Rhetoric because he makes a lot of sweeping unbacked claims. Whether or not he is particularly detail oriented with regard to the science, the diet concept is a good one and I'm experimenting with it. I just skipped over most of the prose and read the details of the strategy as I'm pretty well versed in nutrition science and there was nothing new here. The text of the book is for nutrition noobs, but the philosophy is refreshing.
