One queen for Ayiolyn. Five dragons to protect her...are they enough to stop the gods? Full description coming soon.
This is a full-length enemy-to-lovers fantasy romance with dragon shifters, a badass heroine, and possessive alpha males. Perfect for fans of spicy fantasy whychoose? romance. This is book five and the final book.
G. Bailey is a USA Today bestselling author of books that are filled with everything from dragons to pirates. Plus, fantasy worlds and breath-taking adventures. Oh, and some swoon-worthy men that no girl could forget. G. Bailey is from the very rainy U.K. where she lives with her husband, two children and three cheeky dogs.
Long awaited final instalment of this series… did it live up to expectations? Mostly yes, but was disappointed with all the jumping around of character stories; seemed like author was in a rush to get all ends fastened off… still enjoyed reading though.
Disclaimer: I’m going to review it without spoilers at the top, then create a line and anything below that line will be spoilers. Do with that what you will.
This book was the happily ever after that Ellelin wanted the entire time. As usual, a lot happens in a very short amount of time. Some rushed, some perfectly placed…with quite a few plot twists that are expected of this author.
What I liked: - There’s some hilarious quotes from this book. It’s both serious and comedic all at the same time. - The plot twists keep you guessing. Some of the choices irritate me, but I still love that the author can surprise me nonetheless. - Most of the stuff I enjoy is spoilers.
What I didn’t like: - The Hera & Cronus situation. It still irritates me that Ellelin didn’t even question anything and just threw her grandma to an ancient titan with little thought. - The side character love stories are entirely breezed over. I know they’re side characters, but if you’re gonna put in their POVs at least let us experience their love confessions and stuff. Instead, they suddenly are just banging and in love with nothing really said? - Arty & Kian. It’s all spoilers but ugh. - There’s an earth test but the book mentions it’s an air test. Just a writing error that confused tf outta me for a minute. - The rushing over of events. There’s things that happen and they’re the most insignificant things even though they’re supposed to be pivotal plot aspects just because the writer doesn’t write enough to make them seem longer than a blip.
SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT ————————————————————
What I liked: - Aphrodite’s growing fear. The interactions and her paling or having a flash of emotion was so satisfying. - The guys’ tests. The water one seemed like a real challenge, Lysander almost dies, and Poseidon’s arrival was great. Arden’s fire trial and failing it purposely to save his last remaining family member was intense and needed. Grayson’s test out of all of them was the biggest struggle for him. I love Grayson so much and love the growth his character had. Also loved that the first person he encountered was a child. - Hera and Cronus just banging all over the place is hilarious when you think about them appearing old 😂 - Terrin being the rightful heir to the west and being a tsar was quite the plot twist I wasn’t expecting. - Ares dying. I have so many thoughts but it was definitely a shocking scene. - The wrap up of Arty and Kian was cute even if I’m still irritated by his plot development. - Not really a “like” but her damn mom can’t catch a break 😂
Favorite quotes: - My uncle Phobos once told me that murder doesn’t count if they are annoying shitheads who deserve it, and I’ve kept that motto in my heart. // Savage and I love Phobos overall. He’s just funny and deranged. - Lysander claps his hands. “Kill some gods and then we can work on impregnating our mate. I love this plan.” // This would be me and it was hilarious. - I hear him, just in my mind, just for a moment. “Find me in the Mist. Share a boat with me.” // CHILLS - “What are you talking about, spirit witch?” he groans into my neck. I lean into my mate and sigh. “Just that everything is over, and the ghosts are happy.” // What she says last about the ghosts are happy was so beautiful, cathartic, and left me with chills and tears in my eyes.
What I didn’t like: - Ellelin’s darkness scene. It’s setup as this treacherous thing, she’s all nervous, and she is forced to overcome her greatest fear. Her greatest fear is understandably involving the commander (or whatever he’s called) and her rape. What bothers me is that it is over in the blink of an eye. She’s fearful and then boom he’s dead. There was no struggle, fighting, great dialogue…just dead. - Arty and Kian dying. I know this was a shock factor thing, but damn I wanted more for them. Like Arty overcomes all the trauma she has with her parents and just wants to be loved. Kian is the sweetest and most understanding guy. They deserve to be happy and they are. But they’re happy in the underworld because they died. It’s just UGH. - Livia & Jinx are just really overlooked. Their storyline doesn’t really wrap up to anything and just seems inauthentic somehow. - Emrys still just doesn’t really do anything or seem like her mate. Like I love him fighting for her and the plot development I guess but there was never a moment of me loving them together. - Never get to see Hope as a wolf. Her powers are unlocked and it’s just fully irrelevant? Again, I know she’s a side character but why even put that lore in there when you’re not gonna actually do shit with it. - Her kids being this magical blend. I get it to make it seem like no one man is getting a better “deal” with her, but it’s just kinda meh. I would have loved to see individual element children or cool combos where they have like two powers. Plus Arden doesn’t have any family and I wanted him to have his own kid. - I know you can get the bonus scene, but why is the Halloween scene not automatically just in the book? Like you’re gonna literally give up the surprise of their happy ending and not then give us that fully? You literally skipped MONTHS in other books in this series and you couldn’t fast forward the 10 years or whatever it was and just give us that??? Also, I would have liked a boy/girl twin combo. The comment “they will be kids of all elements” just comes off misogynistic or something.
Overall, this series was good but not great. It has so much potential but there’s a lot of fine tuning and building more into the dialogue, relationships, and plot that need to happen to make it great.
Everything has been leading to this moment. The big showdown. Court of Dragons and Twilight is the final book in G. Bailey's series and it was awesome.
Here we are another book and more freaking trails. The trials are always nerve-wracking, not knowing what obstacles they will be facing but now they're playing winner-takes-all, so the tension was high. I was so beyond ready for Aries and Aphrodite to meet their end. This book healed a lot of people, and things were finally being set right. Oh, there were also plenty of twists and turns to enjoy and we finally got an explanation about the castle and the darkness.
Aww, Court of Dragons and Twilight ended bittersweetly, Bailey had be balling at one point but it was worth it. CoDaT was a fantastic ending to a great series.
I devoured this whole series! If you are looking for an action packed rh with a bad@ss female lead and five kick@ss dragons absolutely devoted to her…. This is your book!
Rh✅ Dragon shifters ✅ V1rg1n hero✅ Enemies to l0vers✅
This series will always hold a special place in my heart because B1 was my first ever why choose, and I love dragons and dragon riders. That being said, the last 2 books released just didn’t hit the same. I just really didn’t love this book, it was fine, but it was just so choppy and very much Young Adult. The smut scenes left A LOT to be desired. Idk. I’m glad their weren’t more pages, because there didn’t really need to be more, but I’m still just unsatisfied at the same time.
Everything has been building up to this—Court of Dragons and Twilight is the epic conclusion fans have been waiting for in G. Bailey's Dragon Crown series, and it does not disappoint. This final installment brings intensity and emotion to new heights, with Aries and Aphrodite finally on the cusp of meeting their end in a high-stakes, winner-takes-all showdown. The trials in this book are as nerve-wracking as ever, with characters facing life-changing obstacles and fears, pushing both them and readers to the edge of their seats. There’s an abundance of twists and turns, unexpected revelations, and a much-anticipated explanation about the castle and the darkness that has long haunted this world.
As always, G. Bailey blends action and heartfelt moments beautifully. The book healed many characters, bringing closure to longstanding storylines and tying up emotional threads in a way that felt bittersweet. Yes, I was bawling at one point, but it was worth it! The story’s conclusion is satisfying and packed with the raw intensity that makes fantasy romance so addictive.
The character growth in Court of Dragons and Twilight was particularly moving. Lysander, Grayson, Arden, Terrin, and Elle are put through their paces, each facing their greatest fears to bring Emrys back and learning about the true meaning of family in the process. Bailey’s world-building is as vivid as ever—gods, dragons, a living castle, and brand-new powers keep this world immersive and thrilling. Each character’s journey adds depth and meaning, underscoring the strength of their bonds and growth as a family.
For anyone who loves a fierce RH romance with dragons, powerful magic, and world-spanning stakes, this book—and the entire series—is a must-read. Bailey hit it out of the park, and I couldn’t put it down. The twists, drama, and emotional beats are masterfully done, and the relationship development feels organic and captivating, as the FMC and MMCs evolve and grow together.
If you’re a fan of fantasy romance, Court of Dragons and Twilight is one that should be on your list. G. Bailey has crafted a world that feels real, a story that pulls you in, and characters that are impossible to forget.
If you are looking for a high-level overview:
🖤Length: 174 Pages 🖤Genre: Dragon Romance 🖤Warnings: N/A 🖤Spice: Slow Burn 🖤Violence: 🔥 🖤Editing: Nothing that pulled me from the story 🖤Series: The Dragon Crown Series 🖤Ending: Happily Ever After
overall: ↠━━━━ღ◆ღ━━━━↞ book 5 of a long series that sadly did not live up to my expectations. I did see a lot of people gave this book great ratings and I politely disagree. the plot seemed very hastily put together to tie everything up, and everything was just so convenient for ellelin.
ellelin: ↠━━━━ღ◆ღ━━━━↞ I do like and respect her, but there just wasn't much special about her personality or anything. it felt like the author made her the princess of the most powerful court and the granddaughter of a goddess just to make up for her being a very boring mundane character. this happened a few books back, but I also recall when the author magically gave ellelin powers that she'd had all along and also the knowledge to use it perfectly despite not having practiced it for years. incredibly unrealistic and seemed like she was trying to make ellelin good enough for the dragon kings. also, she just seemed very selfish, only caring much about her mates. yes, she had good moral character, but when
plot: ↠━━━━ღ◆ღ━━━━↞ very disappointing, how everything just fell together in an unrealistic way. every one of ellelin's mates and herself made it out unscathed, despite one being beyond saving because he was possessed, and them having to face off against 2 "immortal" gods who couldn't be killed. instead, bailey simply killed off 2 unimportant characters without much explanation and gave them a hea.
writing ↠━━━━ღ◆ღ━━━━↞ it was pretty good, but something about it seemed dry to me and it was hard for me to get into the story when a sentence made me cringe or roll my eyes, or sigh because of how weird it felt to read.
also, I don't think I read the ending of Livia and jinks story, maybe I accidentally skimmed over it, but really curious as to where that is
G. Bailey brings the Dragon Crown Series to an epic and emotional close with Court of Dragons and Twilight, a book that pulls out all the stops. If you’ve been following this journey of love, loyalty, and courage through trials and magical realms, the final book will leave you feeling both breathless and deeply satisfied.
Our heroine has been a force from the start, but in this book, her strength and cunning shine like never before. She’s facing the ultimate challenge: one last trial from Aphrodite, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. With Emrys’s soul weakening each day he’s trapped in the Air Court, the urgency in this story is intense, and the goddess of love doesn’t hold back. Aphrodite exploits the kings' deepest fears, creating trials that are not only terrifying but test the core of who they are and how far they’re willing to go for love.
The connection between the queen and her five dragon mates—Arden, Emrys, Grayson, Lysander, and Terrin—is at the heart of this story. Each of them has unique strengths and flaws, but together, they are a formidable force. Their journey from enemies to lovers has been anything but straightforward, but seeing how fiercely they protect and support one another in this final book is deeply moving. If you enjoy whychoose romances with possessive, alpha dragon shifters, you’ll love how Bailey wraps up their love story.
Bailey’s world-building continues to enchant, from the dark and shadowy courts to the elemental power each character wields. The final trials are harrowing, and the intensity of the battles makes for a thrilling read. Yet, there’s also a poetic beauty in how Bailey writes about destiny and sacrifice. This is a tale of not just love but the strength of spirit, and our queen’s resilience is truly inspiring.
For fans of spicy fantasy romance with dragon shifters, high stakes, and a heroine who is as powerful as she is compassionate, Court of Dragons and Twilight delivers a thrilling and heart-stopping conclusion to the Dragon Crown Series. Don’t miss out on this fierce, magical, and deeply emotional finale.
The conclusion to the Dragon Crown series was better than I had expected, but still quite underwhelming.
I never felt like our heroes or main characters were at risk of losing. Everything was on their side, things were lined up for their victory, with more power being granted to them along the way. Everything worked out in the best way possible for them. Everyone got a happy ending.
Even Artie and Kian sacrificing themselves felt very flat - I just wasn't invested enough in them for it to have an emotional impact. They weren't really otherwise contributing to the story, so I didn't really miss them. I was hoping that the author would sacrifice one of the Dragon Kings, Arden in particular. It's frustrating when everything works out for the main character perfectly.
This ended up being a happy ending book, which is completely fine, but after 5 books of the story, I expected to have more loss or sacrifice to contend with. This all just felt too neatly tied up unfortunately.
Also, the author kept referencing characters backstories like we should be familiar with them. I think maybe her other series are connected? But it was done in a very frustrating way, which does not tempt me at all to read the other books.
The story was intriguing, the characters as well, but the writing overall was not great unfortunately

I feel like I have been waiting forever to get the rest of Elle, Emrys, Grayson, Lysander, Arden and Terrin's story after that cliffhanger ending in the previous book, and Court of Dragons and Twilight did not disappoint. I will say that it took a minute for the story to pick up for me but once it did, I devoured it. Aphrodite and Ares are back at it and Aphrodite doesn't disappoint when it comes to her games and challenges. However, there are more players in this game. I will say that I expected Hera and Cronus to make more power moves than what they made but Artemis and Kian definitely surprised me. There were secrets revealed Terrin that I never expected. Lysander made some huge power moves when it came to his court and him, his mother had a heart-to-heart moment, and he suffered a devastating loss. If Elle is determined to save her mates and their world, she must walk into the shadows a Princess and walk out a Queen. Sacrifices must be made; lives will be lost, love will prevail, but the ultimate sacrifice will leave only those deserving with HEA's.
Okay, was this a little predictable? Yes Was it a little cheesy as far as book endings? Also yes. Did I still have a good time? Sure did.
The first three books were addictingly excellent. The fourth one was where things started to get a little repetitive for me. This one was again, pretty repetitive. There are only so many books where there are trials for essentially every single one before it starts to get a little bit tiresome. This definitely started happening in book four and happened here too.
That being said, the plot did finally advance a bit in this one and a lot of secrets were uncovered and we learn a lot more about the castle, the darkness, Ellelins powers and how all of those things tie into the prophecies outlined in the previous books.
The kings of course are still perfection. The side characters are also well done buuuut the whole Livia/Jinx storyline literally went nowhere? What even was the point? It was pretty abrupt when it comes to them actually since they leave you on a bit of a cliffhanger and nothing ever becomes of it after that.
Im just wondering who authorized the whole series to be published with so many errors and this poorly written.
The plot is not bad, like I can totally see the storyline but the execution? Man that was BAD. We get confusing dialogues and a very VERY unclear writing style. An example: “Time seems like it never ends until only silence and the decay of bodies is left and my dragon bleeding into the water.”
???
And that’s just ONE, we have a whole series written like this.
Another thing I did not like is how the author casually adds characters and then forgets about them, just to add their POV a couple of chapters (or books) at random. Aphrodite and Ares, Hera, Arty, Hope, etc. None of those side characters were well developed and they suddenly do things that leave you “wow” and then disappear from the plot.
Things get solved VERY easy, literally in less than a chapter and without much explanation. And they all live HEA.
Honestly it was a waste of time and 100% regret reading this whole thing.
The conclusion of The Dragon Crown Series leaves me feeling both satisfied and yet wanting for more. The author worked through the whole story to make sure to close up the major plot points and character development. I really appreciate that everyone had an ending--whether happy or sad.
So much happened in a couple hundred pages; I almost felt rushed. Maybe this was the intention since the main events of this fifth book takes less than a week. Once again, I wish Bailey fleshed out some parts of the story a bit more. The short chapters from the minor characters' perspectives needed a little extra oomph to really emphasize the climax of the main plot.
Overall, I enjoyed following the journey between various worlds with Ellelin and her family (both by blood and by choice). I'm a sucker for character development, bigger-than-life moments, and spice. This book definitely had all three elements. Thank you for many hours of enjoyment.
This series was ok. I read part of Mai’s story first since there was a cross over and IDK they felt a little redundant. The fmc seemed a tad boring and it felt like there wasn’t enough one on one time with each of the mates and the crossing of gods and shifters and western riders, just felt like it was all over the top. I feel like you could take out any of the elements of the three things I just mentioned and you would have the same story but probably better. It was a quickish read however I did have to take breaks bc I got frustrated. The story was an interesting concept and there were certain things I did like, such as The spirit court being alive and having the spirit court people back but I also felt like it was a tad rushed.
Wow – I have loved reading this series and seeing how each of the dragon princes have faced their own trials and how they manage their love for Elle.
I’m really going to miss Elle, Lysander, Arden, Terrin, Emrys and Grayson – le sigh!
This book takes on the final test that Aphrodite gave them, and this time they get a little help from Elle’s grandmother (Hera) and Cronus. While this story had such strong characters, none were stronger than Kian and Artemis. I literally cried during that part.
But this book finished strong, and they get their HEA! Loved it
I give this one 2.25 ⭐️ slightly better than book 4 but not as good as the first one. I liked the story concept of this book and series overall, we just don’t get nearly enough time and character development. Especially inside characters, it feels like half the book is missing. I like a happy ending and the FMC but there really never felt like stakes. Problems get solved too quickly and easily for my taste. Did I still read it? Yes. Did I generally enjoy it? Yeah. Just not as well executed and developed as I would’ve liked 🤷🏻♀️
The series as a whole went a little long for my taste. I was annoyed by the significantly different length books. This one just felt like a quick wrap up without a lot of depth. I was pretty frustrated that we never saw Grayson's trial. There was such a plethora of twists and turns but I feel like they weren't all fleshed out in the series but rather just put there for shock factor without following through. Overall it was a decent series, it just felt like the finale was super rushed.
Lord, I thought the previous book had some nail biting moments but this one was even more! We have so much happening! Cronos and Hera along with a rather skeletal army show up to help in the war against Aphrodite. Phobos even gets drafted to assist. Elle and the Matron visit the darkness at the bottom of the cellar and wowzer! You talk about a massive power boost! Elle takes the battle for Ayolin and Emyrs right to Aphrodite’s face! The girl has a plan and it will work or all will be lost. I think you’re going to find this ending rather satisfying!
I’m not sure which is worse: the bastardization of the Greek gods, or the grammar. I thought she had improved in book 4, but I guess that was a one off.
This book is hilariously dumb and just didn’t make sense. I loved how at the beginning of the book, she wrote Hera “remembers when she first met Cronus” - bitch that’s your dad 😭😭😭😭😭
And how did Aphrodite die from a quick sword whereas Ares needed 3 souls to die? Make it make sense.
Would love to see this story in the hands of a competent author.
Court of Dragons and Twilight delivers with a fiercer queen and five smoldering dragon shifters. Emrys, Arden, Grayson, Lysander, and Terrin are her fierce, brooding mates, and they're all ready to face Aphrodite's deadly trials for her love.
It's addictive with dragons, gods, and a fierce heroine who knows exactly what she wants, and that's victory, along with her five powerful dragon mates. With high-stakes romance and blazing chemistry, each page brings either action or spice.
If you love broody, intense mates, and a heroine who thrives in the shadows, this is one high-fantasy romance you need on your shelf.
So.... This awkward... I've been accepting more and more recommendations from BookTok, because after 1900 books apparently I'm running out of good books, the latest MASTERPIECE I read was from Isla Davon, I gave this saga 5 opportunities, which I never do. Don't get me wrong, this author is talented, but I didn't connect with her in this saga, so thank you for writing it and sharing it
And what a way to step in to the new year by finishing a series I have loved from beginning to end. The world building was first class and the character development kept me on the edge of my seat and always wanting more. For my spicy girls... You'll enjoy these books. Fantasy? You've got it in spades. Enemies to lovers. Saving the world? Family ties and God's and Goddesses? All plentiful in this book and the series. An easy and exceptional 5 stars
As a whole, I really enjoyed this series. I had some issues with it like pacing and writing structure but those were easily overlooked. With that being said, the last book was great. Exactly what I expected how the conclusion. I kind of hated there was another trial but yk what I get it. Gods love to play their games.
This series is a 3 star one but this last book gets an extra .5 for making me cry lmao
This conclusion was amazing, but what did we expect from an amazing author. This ending was so well done that you just couldn't stop reading till it was done. I am absolutely amazed by this author and her talents. I can't wait for what's next.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
