Why can’t Melanie Brown write a million books?

I love every book I read from Melanie Brown. It’s 4:00 a.m. and I read this book in one sitting. I glad it is a weekend! I couldn’t put it down. Ms. Brown writes her stories so completely that you feel you are the main character. I actually crave the feeling I get when I read her books. She is certainly one of my favorite authors. I hope you enjoy reading her work as much as I do.

This is kind of a cute book. You have a brilliant scientist who is working on developing nanites that will be able to eliminate most problems with disease.

In what never seems to work out he decides to test the material on himself. The results? He becomes a young girl, around 12 to 14 years of age. He's fired to experimenting on himself and the official report is that he was killed during an explosion.

His wife, not happy with the way he was as a husband, adopts him and now he becomes the younger sister to his older sister which itself results in some rather humorous things.

So, he has to adjust to being a child instead of being a grown-up, being a girl instead of a guy, and being the younger sister to his own daughter.

Then there's the matter of boys and some not-very-good things happen to her because of that.

He, now she, also has to start school from junior high level again. Finally, something happens. Will he choose to go back to being an employed, grown-up man or will he actually choose to stay a young girl with all that means.

Choose wisely.

I thought the premise very intriguing. By half way through it changed from sci-fi to female teen angst. And not the angst I would imagine. A medical marvel that's altogether ignored by the company where the nanites were developed. She was tossed away like garbage!
One would think monthly check ups at the very least. But no! The lead researcher actually called a 12 to 14 yr old girl, A bitch!! Unbelievable! How many multi-millionaires would pay for such a treatment? We'll never know.
Are the nanites still active? Will she remain 14 for 20 years, 50 years, forever? We have the mentality of a 47 yr old male inside a 14 yr old girl agreeing to be a cheerleader? Go on dates with boys? I don't think so! At least not nearly so soon.
The notion of sex was not even explored. Never possessing female anatomy, one would be curious. Apparently not our heroine! I didn't understand this book at all.

Poor Sci Fi

Mostly this is just another teen angst story. Author does not seem to understand that a persons sex and sexuality are two different items. While a person can be trans gendered thus changing their sex, their sexuality will not change. As a consequence, a heterosexual male who likes girls will still like girls after going through a sex change. He will just be a homosexual female. If you do not believe that, just ask Caitlyn Jenner.

Realism at last

Despite the lack of any forced feminization or any corporal punishment, ( two features I normally enjoy),I found the storyline interesting enough to continue reading. While the concept of nanites is pure fiction, it does provide for a basis for the story.

very good

A well written story. A bit simple but a very good read. I would like to have gone a lot more from her perspective. Hope there is a part two.

Nice story

From a reliable author.
No surprises here plot-wise but pleasantly developed characters and a nice premise as background as a story.
