I’m excited about this new installment in the Meet Me in the Bible series. As someone who enjoys studying God’s Word, I find devotionals like this one incredibly motivating and insightful. This 8-week Bible study focuses on Colossians & Philemon, offering a structured approach to exploring these epistles.

One of my favorite aspects of the series is its consistent format, complete with a lay-flat spiral binding and vibrant covers. I also value the generous space for notes and the engaging, reflective question and answer sections that wrap up each lesson.

The studies are clear and accessible, making them ideal for both group settings and individual study. Personally, I prefer working through the material on my own because it allows me to move at a pace that suits me best.

The readings and Q&As have deepened my understanding of Colossians and Philemon. As with the other books in this series, the “Key Words and Phrases” sections are especially helpful in reinforcing the main messages.

I’m so excited to share this one with my readers!! First of all, I don’t use many Bible studies, as I mainly study the Bible on my own by reading through a book of the Bible. I learned this almost 10 years ago when going through the book (which I highly recommend) Women of the Word by Jen Wilkin with a group of ladies. We learned through that book the importance of Bible study and a method to take you through a book of the Bible. That is what this study does, and yes, Jen Wilkin wrote a foreward in this study. Meet Me In the Bible is a new series of Bible studies by Colleen Searcy. I am currently using the Colossians and Philemon 8-week Bible Study. She also has published a few others in this series, so you will want to check those out, too.

Don’t worry if you are not familiar with the method Jen Wilkin shared in her book. Colleen goes into detail on how to study while also providing helpful resources and tips. Of course, you could just use a plain notebook like I usually do. However, this Bible study provides you with the Scripture so you can make notes. Along with questions to help you make observations, interpretations, and application of what God’s Word says. There is also a timeline, map, vocab section, and prayer pages. So this would make a great group study. Though, you can also do this individually. She shares how to do an individual study and a group study for this Bible study, along with additional questions for further pondering.

For those who need additional help, the author provides some free resources on her web-page and a video to explain further. So, if you have been intimidated or not sure how to go about studying God’s Word, she really helps make the process easy for anyone!

So, if you are looking for a Bible study to do, I highly recommend this one or another one in the series. Especially if you are new or want to learn an in-depth way of studying your Bible. I really feel this is one of the best methods in learning how to study the Bible. She also encourages readers that you can use this method to study any book of the Bible, so you don’t necessarily need to have the Bible study book, but I will say that I think it is much more helpful to have this in hand. It is like having someone along to help guide you through the study. I have said this before, I trust anything Crossway Publishers puts out.

But I will warn you, once you learned this way of reading and studying God’s Word, you may not want to study any other way, and I think that is a good thing. I know it was for me. This method really opened my eyes to a deeper understanding and relationship with our Lord.

Not a typical Bible study where there is commentary explaining things. This study leads you through the books of the Bible with questions for you to look up and dig into the scripture deeper yourself. The questions are similar in style to Jen Wilkins ‘Women in the Word’ where she is teaching how to study a book of the Bible on your own. I enjoyed digging in.
