I really liked it. Alphie has always been a character everyone else sets to the side so it was great to see all the events from his eyes. And to see him get his happy ending and the Sommervilles get on a better place

DNF @93%

I also skimmed quite a bit.
I HATED the writing but somehow pushed through and found myself really rooting for this couple and curious about the rest of the characters that were mentioned. So much so, that I stopped reading to read some of the other character’s story only to also not finish those books because they’re good enough but leaves A LOT to be desired and the characters started to blend in together.

What can I say?
I’m desperate for fantasy, shifters and fated mates. 🥲

FINALLY! I’ve been curious about Alfie ever since book one, Family of Fire. He’s seriously the most adorably awkward person/dragon/shifter EVER!! At nineteen, he feels like he’s grown but, he had been so sheltered his whole life that he was incredibly naive and childlike at times which, for me, MADE this book. I can’t tell you how many times I giggled at something he did, said, or thought—he was (unintentionally) SO hilarious.

Blaze, the other MMC and little fire spirit, broke my heart! Poor guy, he kinda reminded me of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh, “Thanks for noticing me!” Sad but so sweet!!! Together, he and Alfie were much stronger and complemented each other by filling in where the other lacked and. It. Was. Beautiful!!

If, like me, you’ve been wondering about Alfie for practically EVER, do not miss this book! And don’t let it sit in your TBR pile either, you’ll be so mad at yourself if you do. 5 SUPER SWEET STARS!!!

4.5/5 This was so lovely. I’ve been waiting since book 1, basically, for Lord Somerville to get his comeuppance, and I’ve only disliked him more as each book progressed. So it was delightful to see Alfie come into his own and Lord Somerville finally reap what he sowed. (I have so much judgement over so many of his decisions. So much, lol.)

Alfie and Blaze are so adorable together! I loved how they connected and how Alfie gets a chance to be protective. I loved their den, their fierce attachment, and learning more about fire spirits and clans and bonds (and the other Somervilles). I like the way Alfie looks at the world, how he’s young and a bit naive, but he’d also fiercely protective, talks too much, and loves with all his heart. It was so awesome to see Blaze get a family and see the Somerville’s rally around them. I’m finally hopeful for all of them for the future. :)

I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.

His Greatest Treasure is the 10th book in the Dragon's Mate series. This book is not a standalone and is best if you read in series order, so why not enjoy the whole series. This is the story of Alfie a dragon shifter and Blaze a fire spirit. I love Alfie and Blaze, they are just so perfect for each other. I couldn't put this book down once I started because I had to see what would happen next. This book has finally brought Lord Somerville what he deserves. I love when an author can make you feel all the emotions and Hope Bennett does that really well. I love and hate some of her characters. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

Alfie and Blaze fit well together. Blaze really brought out Alfie's more mature and brave side. And Blaze deserved the safe and protected feelings from Alfie. I liked that they took their time with each other. But it also took a little to long.

One thing that I was confused about was why Glenwise and Rhod treated Alfie the way they did? They both have known Alfie his whole life so they knew his personality and how sheltered he was. But they acted like he was a tyrant like his father right from the start. I kind of wanted them to leave if they were going to be rude.

Oh! And who shot Alfie? Did they catch this person? I think I somehow missed the answer to that.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC for this novel.

Alfie's story is everything I wanted it to be and more. Reading about his glow up was sooo satisfying it makes my brain tingle and I barely slept because I wanted to read instead!

Thank you Hope 😊

Protecting the family

Things very dramatically come to a head in this second to last book of the series!

Following Alfie from nearly the beginning of the series, we find what he has been doing sneaking around and how he has felt during all the changes to his clan. The interesting thing is that though everyone insists Alfie is a dragon like the rest of the clan he has no sense of his inner dragon and none of the accompanying instincts. Add in the coddling of the clan and Alfie is a slightly innocent but very loving and open young man who simply wants to find his place to stand within the clan and to protect them all in the way he has always been protected.

Blaze is a fire spirit who sneaks into the Sommerville lands and is found by Alfie. There is something about the place that makes Blaze feel safe, even with the inherent risk of dragons, and when Alfie finds him and gives him shelter it makes Blaze truly want to stay. The more he gets to know Alfie the more Blaze suspects something is going on, and when a suspicious 'tutor' comes to bring out Alfie's power it is even more clear to Blaze. The two naturally want to protect each other, a clear sign of mates, even as it becomes increasingly clear Lord Sommerville would never allow that.

This story really does a great job of wrapping up the loose ends and bringing everything to a good place. It was not an easy journey to go around and it has some major changes for the Sommerville's that Alfie was at the core of. It was another great romance with that urgency that comes from the threat of danger, both inside and outside the clan in this case, and an excellent conclusion for the couple at the centre. Can't wait to see how everything concludes in the last book!

Beautiful story ❤️

I feel sooo much love for this book. This is the most adorable story! It's so well written. It kinda had a slow start for me, but it really picked up. I couldn't put it down. I think I might have ended up highlighting half the ebook. There were some profound things in there. I am immensely satisfied that "Lord Somerville" finally got his comeuppance. Alfie is so cool. I love how he cares so much. Blaze is absolutely adorable. I love them and their found family. I love how everyone comes together. So many treasures. ❤️
This story makes me so happy. I hope there will be more.

I think that now I have finally had the chance to read the final book His Greatest Treasure its time to go back to the beginning and read back to back! Yes I loved the series that much! If you haven't read previous books please do so or you will miss out on so much. In this book we have the story of Alfie a dragon shifter and Blaze a fire spirit who are absolutely perfect together. I was completely hooked and enamoured following their journey that was so emotional and compelling. Highly recommend

A little disappointing

In general I love Alfie and Blaze; however, it felt like the lead up to the action on their story went on way too long. It was almost bad enough that I wasn't going to finish it, but I kept at it Then once the big big conflict did happen, it was almost over before it began.

I'm also a bit confused by Alfie being the biggest human person in their relationship. The way they take about him in the other books, I would have thought he'd have been the smaller not delicate partner.

Lovely ending to the series! Have really enjoyed the whole series and the glimpses of Alfie and thoughts that he might be something special were worth the wait for his story.

This was a slightly longer read but was really well paced and seeing what had happened in the previous books from Alfie’s view point as he grew and bonded with Blaze was really nice and added to the depth of the book.

Alfie and Blaze were a great couple from start to finish.

So, in my review for book 7, I'd been worried about the series switching focus from one dragon clan to another, and while I was right, by the end of this book, things have massively improved within the Somerville clan and in the next and last book in the series, the Hoskins clan who are the direct focus of the first five books of the series will be allies of the Somerville clan, the focus in books 8-10, who are now under new leadership.

This is what all the lead up has been in the series. It was a good comfortable read but not my favorite in the series. I think that the way they babied Alfie stunted him as a character. He is supposed to be an adult but acts way younger. it wrapped up some loose ends and brought the family back together.

I was so disappointed. Alfie has really been built up since the beginning, I wanted to know what makes him so special, and then this story was mostly a retelling of all the other stories from Alfie's perspective?! Why? 😭😭😭
The story between the doctor and the assistant was structured in a similar way. My question is now, of course, whether Hope Bennett just ran out of material, did she just want to make less work for herself? Or something else?

This was a very good end for the series. Aligned with the rest of it, it wasn’t mind blowing but it was cohesive and a nice, low-angst easy read that didn’t leave any questions unanswered which I appreciated very much. Overall I think the whole series is very good
