This book was WOW. I can't even begin to express what this book did to me! I read tons of BDSM books and you can tell by the writing who has done their research or possibly live the lifestyle vs who does not. I fell head over heels with this story for a few reasons, the FMC is plus size and a successful business owner, and the MMC is a realistic job that is more relatable (NOT mafia-related, NOT Club owner, NOT an author) I also liked that the MMC had the dad body and had an average peen size. I feel like these characters are way more realistic! I also fell in love with the POV of this story every BDSM book I have read has always had the MMC as the Dom (any title that holds power honestly), and the FMC as the sub, and with this, the roles were reversed and I fell in love!! The cliffhanger was great but it has me on the edge of my seat waiting for the sequel to this one! Everyone should read this book!

It is so refreshing to not only have a plus-sized dominate FMC but also(!) a dad-bod MMC with a smaller peen. Aside from Fifty Shades of Gray, I haven’t read BDSM Lifestyle romances and this was much better. The author thoroughly explained the why behind our characters’ actions and I felt that the areas where people get taken advantage of were addressed. This also wasn’t a billionaire trying to force a broke college-age virgin into a Dom/sub relationship either ( 👀 looking at you Fifty!). The spicy scenes were hot and contained novel imagery that I hadn’t encountered before. I felt angsty over how the submissive was feeling, especially at the cliffhanger ending, so I’ll just have to read the next to find out what happens; I personally prefer to skip the angst with my reads. There were parts that felt repetitive so between that and the angst, I rate this 4/5 stars. If you’re curious or into BDSM spice, this book is for you!

I had never read a dom/sub book, but this book was amazingly written. She really helps you to understand what a relationship is supposed to be like this. Then add in a second sub and holy crap it's now a why choose and it's amazing. Miss M.C. Stokes left me on a cliffhanger through and I need, Mercedes, jake and Darrens story.

THE GOOD:
Most of us that read *smut* know it's mainly hot and steamy red flags. While we fantasize of the idea and possibilities of someone coming in and an just dominating us or vise versa, in real life we know to run far away. This book however, takes you through the way a dynamic should be established and initiated. Discussions of limits, safe words, deal breakers. It even shows the imperfections. For once the male is the submissive one and BOY does he revel in it! This book had me all over the place. I was lucky enough to discuss my thoughts with the author as I read and I would love to share those, but this is not the place for that. Let's just say I loved it! It was hot, steamy, slow-burn. Lots of consent, it even took you into the mind of our good boy when deciding if he should use his safe word, the perfect breakdown of how those thoughts can and should be. There was a lot of emotions that seemed like it built quickly but when it's right, it's right.

THE BAD:
Let me clarify none of this book was bad. I just needed something to put here and I figure the parts that hurt me most or I had a negative reaction to could go here.
So, firstly, Miss M. Inadvertently, breaks my boys heart and trust by omitting certain things, while I absolutely do understand why she failed to reveal until later in the relationship, it still hurt us. Bad Miss M. Secondly, I am still not sure how I feel about D. He seems too pushy from the start of the change of their relationship. While he does submit it's a struggle for him, however, I have my own ideas for that addition already shared with the author *giggle*
Last of the bad, I promise! This was a bad but a good in all honesty. Our MFC's, naive BFF get's into a dynamic with a fake D. This douche canoe, refuses her safe word, mocks her need of it, beats her, and manipulates her. We don't find out until later what happened and how but I was SO angry that she had gone back to an abusive man until it was clarified. Then I was murderous for the poor thing.

THE UGLY:
I just couldn't believe she did this. It's absolutely, abhorrent of her to do this to us!! Take a seat and breathe Panda.. You too, you're going to need to, I swear it's horrid!
.
.
.
.
SMH I don't even what to say.... *sigh*
.
.
.
She introduces what could only be the HOTTEST freaking scene in EXISTENCE... and then leaves you hanging!!! Sadistic wench left us edging!

In all reality, I loved it. I will definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for more!

So this was one of those authors I found by chance. The title, cover and blurb intrigued me so I had to give it a go.

I will admit there were times I did not like Mercedes. The first reason being when she broke Jake's trust. She demanded he speak to her, forcing him to interact with her. She did not respect his boundaries at that point and even punished him. There was also no repercussions for her failure. Now I get why she didn't tell him things, but she demanded full honesty and I felt she lost power, so she had to get it back.
What's to stop her from messing up again if there are no repercussions?
The second was her end plan. She had a plan of how to keep a relationship with both Jake and Darren. There was no consideration for their friendship and how it might damage it after they found out they were both subs. Especially when Mercedes had told Darren he was not the priority. How would that make him feel about Jake being more important?
Again, it was one of those times I get why she kept it secret. But she never thought about them and their friendship.
Saying this, it did make me think. It does state in the book that subs think of their Domme's happiness more, and these were those moments. I was seeing it from a vanilla point of view. I respect that their dynamic works like that. As long as Jake and Darren are happy, who am I to comment?
So I appreciated it for the way it made me think differently. That is AMAZING writing as it challenges perceptions!

Does that mean Mercedes is a bad character? Absolutely not. She's an amazing boss. I love that she is successful. I love that she is protective of Jaz, and that she is plus size.
I liked Jake and seeing it from his POV, understanding his wants and emotions. I really liked that he had a dad bod. He was so eager to do well, you couldn't help but be drawn to him
My favourite was Darren. He wants something so bad, but you see his struggle and whether he can accept it. It is so eye opening and was relatable. Sometimes you want things so bad, you don't know how to deal with it once you have it.

I have read BDSM romance before but what is different about this one is that it focuses on the little things. There is a build up for the dynamic. Mercedes explains why she does it, giving you a better idea of the community. It invests time in the details that make a dynamic work. Things are explained such as kinks, positions and terms. That I thought was done extremely well.

Overall, it was a very different read for me. It made me think differently. It didn't take long for me to read either as it kept me interested and flowed well. I would happily continue this series.

I have preconceived notions about the BDSM lifestyle. I realize that they’re not accurate. My only exposure has been from Fifty Shades of Grey and brief scenes in movies like Pulp Fiction, which didn’t really tell me anything. And one line from a Martin Mull song, (...whips and chains... great Danes...) This book did a good job of realigning my notions of BDSM in an entertaining way.
The story revolves around Mercedes, a successful entrepreneur, who was once a submissive. She wants to switch things up and put together a loving relationship where she is the dominant. She places an ad on a kink lifestyle site, looking for complimentary suitors. Her ad is answered by Jake, who, by coincidence, is the friend of a friend. Thus, the relationship begins.
This story intrigued me. I know absolutely nothing about this lifestyle. Any sadomasochism in my relationships has always been accidental, unconscious, unpleasant, and unhealthy. It is mind-blowing to me that a BDSM relationship can be mutually satisfying and healthy. This book makes that argument eloquently.
Every time I read a new author, I hope my mind will be blown, at least a little. Miss M fulfilled that desire. Well-written, educational, and entertaining. The language was raw in places, but authentic. The situations are sexy and freaky, as you would expect. Recommended for those wanting a glimpse into that particular peephole.

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

This book took me longer than it should have. I probably should have DNF’d but I could never bring myself to do that to any book because I can’t give an honest review without fully reading the book. With Miss M. there were a few things that were just not it for me. 1. The authors use of the pet name “luv”, I don’t know why it bothers me that it was written this way. I could see that being used as text message lingo but not as a pet name. Author also had the FMC call both MMC by the same pet name. 2. I’ve learned that reading about male submissives is just not for me. I wouldn’t say I’d never pick up another book with the same trope but for right now it’s just not something I’m interested. The way the booked ended was so abruptly I’m not sure if the author was unsure of her work and that’s why this story is being broken into multiple books or what the case is but with how short it is right now there could have been a lot more added to it.

My star and spice rating is that of my own personal opinion, if you’re into female Domme and male Subs then this just might be spicier to you, please read TW/content warnings when possible.

miss m by m.c. stokes ★★★★☆

okay so, i’ll be real — this was really well-written, but it wasn’t totally my thing. and that’s fine! not every book has to be a personal obsession to still be good.

what i will say is that the writing? super solid. the characters felt like actual people, not cardboard cutouts, and the way the author handled the BDSM dynamics was thoughtful and respectful, which i appreciate. mercedes was confident without being a stereotype, and jake felt like a real dude, not some weird submissive fantasy template.

the pacing worked, the dialogue felt natural (no one was out here delivering cringe monologues), and i can tell the author really knows their stuff when it comes to the lifestyle. it’s just… the story itself didn’t totally grab me. i think it’s more about my personal taste than anything the book did wrong.

if you’re into BDSM romance with a strong, confident domme and a genuinely sweet submissive, i think you’ll love this. for me, it was a good read — just not the kind of thing i’ll be rereading a million times.

still, major props for the writing and the characters. definitely a book that knows exactly what it’s doing.

It was refreshing and enlightening to read about the lifestyle from the very early, important vetting stages. The experience feels empowering, even cathartic, depending on how it’s delivered. This book captures that balance beautifully, blending subtle lessons with an immersive world that draws readers in completely.

Seeing a dominant female lead take center stage alongside her submissive partner offered a fresh perspective rarely explored in this genre. Even more exciting was the progression into a Why Choose dynamic, which gave the narrative room to expand and breathe beyond conventional boundaries.

The only thing that felt slightly off was the emotional depth of one character’s arc. While the others were interesting and layered with vulnerability, that one connection felt underdeveloped. Given that this is a series, I hope the author will explore those missing layers and emotional gaps more deeply in future books.

This is a recommended read for those interested in the BDSM lifestyle, Why Choose romances, and powerful female protagonists.

Wow. I loved Jake, MMC #1, he was open to many things, was honest when he thought he wasn't sure he could be okay with something, and he also had hard nos. I'm not sure how I'm feeling about Darren, MMC #2, but I hope to explore my feelings of him in the continuation. Miss M, the FMC, was wonderful, too. She kept open communication with her subs, praised them when they did well, punished when they broke rules, and made sure she followed through with aftercare (so important!).

It was great to read about BDSM and domme/sub relationships, the attention to detail was phenomenal. If you read 50 Shades series and thought you knew what this lifestyle was, well, you'll be very surprised when your read this book.. do not confuse the two. Miss M is accurate, but also entertaining.

The story has great pace, I just wish it was longer. I can't wait to read the next book, and find out what happens.
Thank you for the ARC, this book left me wanting more!

This was a breath of fresh air.
Far too often books about the LS are either mainstream BS or focus solely on the bedroom. And almost always from a make Dom and female sub POV. Once again, Miss Stokes did a wonderful job in her story telling. The lifestyle was well explained AND shown! The character development is beautiful, especially seeing how new subs battle within themselves as well as the patience it takes from a Dom/me’s POV. The only thing that threw me off was the switching between “sub” and “slave” as I was taught those two things are very, very different. But that aside everything is spot on. I always have people ask if I have BDSM book recs and can never come up with a good one that really explains how the LS truly is, and we all know fifty shades ruined sooooo much, now I finally have a book I can recommend when asked!!
As someone with over 10 years experience in the LS this book was such a welcomed surprise!

STFUAETPLAGB! Yes, Maam!

The chemistry between them is electric. Sparks fly off the pages as their desire ignites. Every scene brims with raw passion, taking my breath away. The dominant/submissive dance they engage in is tantalizing and electrifying. Miss M commands the room with confidence, radiating like a blazing fire. The intensity of their passion is like a rollercoaster ride, gripping my attention. Hearts race as boundaries are pushed and shattered. I am captivated, completely lost in a world where pleasure and pain intertwine. In the end, I am left craving more. This book, “Miss M” by M.C. Stokes, is a scorching journey into the depths of passion in the realm of BDSM romance. It awakens a desire within me to explore my own desires.

I'm not much into the BDSM scene since I had a couple of incidents with my mental health, so I essentially gave it up because I'm just not mentally fit for the role. But, I know the author somewhat and decided to give it a try. I was pretty incensed with this book, it's very descriptive and not over the top so to say. It's a good showing of the scene and doesn't go overboard with the tropes. I liked reading it and frankly couldn't put it down so there's that. It is a Domme and sub (and subs) story, so if you're not into women telling you what to do sexually this may not be the book for you. I'm not into this sort of thing myself, so I admittedly had to pay attention to it. It does however, start me off on how to write my own scenes along another tangent, and so on.

Yes!

I went into Miss M. a little apprehensive of how the BDSM lifestyle would be portrayed, but it was so unnecessary. I’ve noticed most of the time that although there is kinky spice, that dynamics aren’t written well or at all. Stokes does a great job of breaking things down and explaining what a lot of people might not realize about the BDSM community.
The writing of the characters, daily lives, struggles, and friendships is thought out and I was able to get a real feel for them.

Also, Leo= ultimate garbage.

Friends and Romance, with a twist

How did she do it? How did Ms Stokes write a book about me, but we’ve never met. To say I identify with one of the main characters is an understatement (I wont say which on though). The story is captivating, the characters, Mercedes, Jake, Darren, and Jaz all have their struggles, and their opportunities but I came to care about each of them. The friendships and romances are what pulled me in and kept me reading. I cant wait to see what happens next.

Miss M is one of the hottest books I've read!

I 100% would recommend this book! RUN and add it to your TBR if your into BDSM with a female dom. It is so freaking hot!!! This is a fast and easy read that you will not want to put down! I really loved the male sub(s), and the female Dom is a BBW. This book has a great storyline. The ending is a cliffhanger that makes you want more! Girl, Why did you leave us hanging like this!! lol.. I can not wait to get my hands on book 2!!

Excellent

I've read quite a few lifestyle novels. This by far is the best
The Domme and Sub's POV is offered. The subject of Domme and Sub relationship is developed in the real world sense. Which is such a breath of fresh air. Most novels are unrealistic. This was written from someone who researched these kind of relationships.
And to read it from the male Subs Pov as well as the female Dommes was nice too.
I can't wait to dive into book 2.

I really liked the characters in this book, but there was just something that I wasn't getting. I am hoping that in the upcoming books I find whatever that is, but I can't put my finger on it. This book delves into a very taboo lifestyle and does a good job educating the reader on what it really means to be in a BDSM relationship. There are definitely some kinks that I didn't enjoy while reading them, but I loved the integration.

This was my very first book including the lifestyle and honestly, I wasn't sure if it was going to be my thing...
BUT I could not put the book down! I loved the multiple POV. The characters were relatable and that ending!! I wasn't expecting it to be such a cliffhanger. I *need* to know Jake's reaction like yesterday.

This books is without a doubt the best lifestyle book I have ever read. While intended to be a work of fiction it can serve as an introduction to the lifestyle better than anything I have read in years. I can't wait for the sequel

Excellent BDSM lifestyle romance story, more romance than erotica, and less BDSM than I expected, but a perfect portrayal of a Big Beautiful Woman worthy of submission. I jumped right into the next book.

I have never read a Dom/Sub book but MC did so good. This follows Mercedes and Jake and the beginning of a domme relationship. I was hesitant at first but this is by far one of my favorite reads. This is the first in a series of 3. Well written and excited to continue the series!
