Being Peter: Permission to Live and Lead...Loud and Large

Rate this book
Have you ever been told you’re too aggressive, too loud, too intense…too much?

Yet, time and time again, you are in leadership roles with everyone looking to you for guidance. You often feel misunderstood,
especially in faith environments. The contemplatives seem to be revered, while your Type I (Intense, Innovative, Instigator, Impulsive) wiring is urged to "tone it down." What if we dared to embrace our God-given qualities? What if others could learn how to support and empower Type I individuals in their lives?

BEING PETER is designed to do just that by examining the life of the original Type I, Peter. Jesus didn't demand Peter suppress his bold and assertive nature; he affirmed Peter's authenticity. That very boldness proves indispensable and essential as Peter assumes leadership in the early church. Perhaps you are seeking permission to fully embrace your Type I nature. Maybe you interact with or work alongside Type I individuals. BEING PETER aims to provide insight, comprehension, and, most importantly, permission to embrace Type I’s as they claim vital roles where God has strategically and perfectly placed them.

This book makes you think, makes you laugh and makes you feel like the author is right there with you sharing valuable information that’s meant only for you. Even if you’re not a Christian, there is no denying that Peter was a real person who lived boldly and unconventionally. Being Peter is the book any Type 1 personality needs to read, despite their faith, helping to validate and empower us to recognize our own boldness and how to harness it to make a positive difference in our circles of influence. It’s nice to know I’m not too much.

a great read!

Lee does an amazing job guiding on a journey to continue to be the leader that you are called to be. It is such a good book and I have passed it along to my friends who are “type I leaders” to read. And helped me to know what to do as a leader coming alongside a type I. Again, amazing read!

If you’ve ever been told you’re too much, to calm down or rein it in…this book is a must read!
Through personal stories and the biblical life of Peter, Lee illustrates how (what he calls our Type I wiring) is not only good but it’s given to us by God for a divine purpose. Rather than shrinking back, Lee encourages readers to lean into their wiring and allow God to use it.
As a woman who’s learned to suppress my opinion and gifts in order to fit a specific expectation, this book has given me permission to live and lead the way created me to.

Oh - and if that’s not how you’re wired, chances are you live or work with someone who is. The book speaks to you as well giving insight into why Type I’s act and do things the way they do. It’s his hope that this insight will lead to deeper understanding and encouragement from those who interact with dynamic individuals.

Although this is the author’s debut book, I’m sure it won’t be his last. His wisdom and leadership style is inspiring and encouraging. Why are you still reading this review? You should be on Amazon grabbing your copy!
