Experiments on living people bring death and unexpected attention - 5 stars

An FBI agent with a knack for getting into trouble, Zack Wilder senses trouble when he is being followed. And Zack has a history of being followed by people who intend to kill him. While Zack is working as an FBI agent in their New York City office, he is also a member of a secret organization called the Fulcrum. The Fulcrum is a non-governmental body intent on making the world safe.

After a fight with two assassins, Zack has to recover from a knife wound and is ordered to take a vacation. Zack has never taken a vacation. He doesn't know how to relax. Zack's ex-wife in California has sent an "I need help" message. Zack arrives only to find that his ex-wife's sister has disappeared. It is only natural that Zack, having been given mandatory time off for his stiches to heal, jumps in to save the day.

An out-of-control medical experiment gets Zack's attention. A high-tech medical company is trying to offer a procedure to cryogenically store and eventually restore people when the technology is reliable has been using living people as their guinea pigs. So far, every attempt to bring a once-living person back to life has been an abject failure. Both the law and medical ethics ban the notion of experimenting using live people.

One example of Zack's dry humor was when he was challenged about walking away from the scene of an incident involving gunfire, he replied, "Actually, there may have been a little running involved" before the authorities arrived.

Zack constantly demonstrated that he wanted to be in the midst of trouble; he easily found trouble. Even a full-time bodyguard had trouble keeping Zack out of harm's way. This thriller has full-throttle excitement, ruthless medical practitioners, and an excellent support team trying to root out evil, doing so without alarming the public. Set aside time to read this book. Transhuman is a winner!
