"Love Along the Cattle Trail" is a historical romance novel of approximately 80,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
This is a well written book with strong characters in Sierra and Jason. The author does a great job developing the story and painting her scenes perfectly. She takes you into their lives with action, intrigue, adventure and danger. She moves the story fluidly and delivers a terrific read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.
The character of Sierra Cassidy is well written. Her mother died when Sierra was young, and now it is just her and her father Lonnie. They have a big ranch, and he has raised Cassidy to run it in every way. She can't cook but she can do anything regarding cattle. They are getting ready to do a big cattle drive. Jasper Billings has been hired on to be an extra gun on the drive, just in case there is trouble. He is no cowboy. He is a marshal, hoping to capture a despised criminal that attacks cattle drives. The story is good, but there are glaring errors in the writing, and I'd love to go through and edit it so this could be a more amazing book! There is a part of the book when Jasper and Sierra are captured by criminals, and they escape, but act so stupidly, not even hiding where they are - and Jasper being a marshal, and Sierra being astute and very quick to catch on to things, it was ridiculous that they would act in such an idiotic manner. But all in all it is worth a read, good story and great characters.
The cattle drive was rough, but after nearly drowning during a river crossing, things only got worse. Sierra had come along to learn another aspect of running a ranch as she was her fathers only heir. Captured by Indians and followed by dangerous bandits kept her and her side kick, who happened to be a hired gun for the cattle drive , on the run. The book was an excellent read. I would suggest it to anyone that enjoys western romance.
Love Along the Cattle Trail is a very exciting read with danger behind every turn. I enjoyed the descriptive day-to-day of the cattle drive through the eyes of one of the ranchers, Lonnie, and his daughter, Sierra. The hardships they face, unforeseen twists in the story, and the people they come in contact with make for a lively and fast-paced storyline. It kept me hooked from the beginning.
Interesting characters and great adventures in the old west. A new love grows and a trail drive has many twists and turns. Lessons for life can learned through this story. Really enjoyed!
This is a really good story. When Sierra and her Dad set out on the cattle drive, they aren't expecting too much trouble but this trip is full of a lot more adventures and action than they were all anticipating. This really is a very good story.
I enjoyed the story, and it kept me figuratively on the edge of my seat. It was confusing at first because in the description of the book he was called Jasper, then the book named him Jason. The Cherokees were an interesting facet, as an Okie.
Another good read. Loved the excitement of the chase and the characters were very different and extremely interesting and the love story of Sierra and Jason was extraordinary!
