Finally some clarity as to the whole Cash catastrophe alongside some unexpected alliances. I was not happy with the twist that the author took with Cameron, why? Ash and Cameron seemed like the sweetest couple, as sweet as mafia marriage could go, but no, he turned out to be the villain in disguise. I understand that Ash needs her own story, but the reasons behind Cameron's betrayal did not make much sense to me. Why would he want Mari dethroned when prior to her, her brother Antoni had the reins of the empire, he was nowhere near the crown.
Anyway, Mari and her partners did get their happily ever after though for me at least there were two solid relationships- with Greyson and Dominic. Nate... I simply did not feel like he had the same strong connection with Mari as the other two.
It looks like there might be two other stories coming along, one of them for sure would be Ash and the cartel.
Overall, I thought the series started off very promising and I did enjoy the first two books way more than the last two.
Anyway, Mari and her partners did get their happily ever after though for me at least there were two solid relationships- with Greyson and Dominic. Nate... I simply did not feel like he had the same strong connection with Mari as the other two.

Vicious Throne by MJ Crouch is messy in the best possible way—and I mean that as the highest compliment. This book is packed with secrets, lies, murder, betrayal, and war, all colliding in a brutal, addictive storm that never lets up.
Mari absolutely broke my heart. She’s thrown down again and again, battered by circumstances and an enemy who never stop coming, yet she always finds a way to get back up., and that's just the one she can see. She had no idea of the ones hiding in plain sight, wrecking havoc on her world. Watching her resilience unfold—especially with the support of her loyal, loving men—was powerful. Their bond only grows stronger every time Cash comes after them, and the way they fight back together is intense, emotional, and deeply satisfying. These 4 as a family - complicated, loving and loyal - Mari, Gray, Dominic & Nate.
Mari will do whatever it takes to save her city and protect her family, even if that means making deals with people she never imagined standing beside. The twists and turns had me gasping out loud more than once. The plot intricacies are phenomenal—each chapter brings its own set of problems, and seeing how Mari and the guys maneuver through them is genuinely impressive.
The intensity of this book is unmatched. The action is superb, the stakes are sky-high, and the spicy scenes? Absolutely on fire. This story delivers intrigue, cartel and mafia elements, reverse harem dynamics, ruthless power struggles, betrayal (and somehow even worse family betrayal), death, and destruction—all balanced with saucy, phew-worthy moments that crank the heat way up.
I was completely engrossed from beginning to end. Vicious Throne is ruthless, emotional, and unapologetically intense—and I loved every second of it. I thought this was a fabulous way to end the series and I am really looking forward to reading the stories for Shara and Aisling as well! If this series is any indication, it's going to be a wild ride.

Mari and her men are finally get their HEA. But getting to it was not an easy task. After the show down in book 3, they need to regroup in order to take back her city. But betrayal runs deep and getting rid of all the rats, needs time and resources.
Putting trust in other people is not high on Mari's list but if she wants to survive, alliances needs to be made and prices needs to be paid. She needs to put aside her feelings and conquer her city back!
I loved this series. Every twist and turn made this journey interesting and I look forward to seeing what is in store next, because Irish mob princess promises to be just as good as our Queenie!

This was the perfect ending to the series. It gave me everything I wanted and so much more that I didn’t realize I needed. I really wanted to be wrong. I really wanted the traitor in their midst to be someone, almost anyone, else. However, the identities of some of Mari’s unexpected allies were nearly as shocking. When all was said and done, I was so satisfied with this ending to Mari’s story. I’m also excited to know that this may not be the last time we see these characters. Long live the queen.

The latest book in the Gilded Empire series, Vicious Throne, was everything that I hoped it would be and then some. It exceeded all of my expectations. What a ride! It's brutal, bloody, dangerous, and explosive as all out war erupts. Deals are made, new alliances formed, new family members revealed, a traitor discovered and a psychotic enemy vanquished. There are a few "wow, I didn't see that coming twists." The connection between Mari and her men is white hot, passionate, electric a source of solace and her saving grace.

The conclusion of this series was action filled with so much going on. Mari fighting to regain control of her city as Cash continues on his rampage.
With her men at her side she willingly to do anything to protect her family.
There is definitely room for more in the future and I’m looking forward to reading what’s coming next.

One of the best series I've so far in 2024.
I loved this series. I seriously did. This is my kind of book. The author did such a great job at the writing of it. I absolutley loved the MCs and the friends. The love the multi POVs. They are my favs cause I like to know what the guys thinking. Now for what I didn't care much for but didn't effect my love for the series at all. Some spoilers. Was. In the beginning it said Daminic was Mari's first love first everything. And later it changed to Greyson's 1st love. It confused me. Yes they known each other since they were kids. And honestly I want Dominic to be the one to marry her. Part because I knew he loved her so much but also he gave her up 1st for Greyson. If it wasn't for Dominic Greyson wouldn't of even went after her. Dominic gave him the push. But yet never thanked. I thought it was wrong that she asked Greyson to marry her just because she was mad at Dominic for which wasn't even his fault. Greyson she stood his ground but he was selfish in the end cause he did love her and that's OK. My other thing was I get the twists and turns and I even love them but honestly I was mad they revealed who was the rat. Next I think she forgave Nate to early. Don't get me wrong I love Nate too but still even if forced was still a betrayal. I'm glad she got everyone out safely her family. I wish we could of seen Rafael unite or try to rebuild his relationship with his son Two bit. Same for his brother. I was sad that she lost her 2 best friends to different people. I wish we could of had a epilog a few years into the future with her friends united and also see her marry her the guys even if not legal. And maybe a surprise baby even tho she didn't want. I know Dominic did tho and I think she would of been a great mom since she was a great person. So like I said it didn't change my opinion on the book. Just saying what I personally thought. This is 100% a great read and don't want to read it. Can't wait for Ainsley's books next.

She has those true to her including the three men she calls her own but what will it take to eradicate the psychotic boogeyman in their midst?
What I liked:
* Mari: strong, determined, lethal, puts her people first, good friend, loving partner to more than one man, carrying a heavy load
* Greyson: her husband, her second in command, details oriented, has loved Mari since childhood, wise, judicious, caring
* Dominic: Mari’s first love, away for several years, came back to be with Mari, can hold a grudge, a bit of a tease/jokester, another of Mari’s men
* Nate: Newest addition to Mari’s men, put his mother first to his own detriment, conflicted in previous books, all in with the Marcosas and Mari in this book, younger, lethal, had a rough backstory
* The way Mari’s friends Shara and Ash may have found their futures and wondering if they will have books of their own
* The way the traitor in the Marcos family was found, roughed up, and what happened to him at the end
* Knowing that I don’t have any friends as crazy, cruel, and creepy as Cash Beckstrom – so glad he was finally dealt with
* Thinking and wondering about some of the supporting characters and wondering if the author will continue to write more in this genre
* Knowing that I am NOT in a mafia and don’t have to think about living that rather dark lifestyle
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about the minds of people like Cash, the traitor, and some of the Aces
* Not knowing for sure how what will happen in the future

When you get to the end of a book series, you expect a book that delivers and that is exactly what Vicious Throne does. It’s packed with lots of action, steam, spice, revenge, twists, surprises, and so much more. There isn’t trigger warning page for this series, but you should note that this is a dark romance that is mafia adjacent with violence, ruthless possessive alpha males, and unhinged leaders.
Each book in the Gilded Empire Series picks up where the last one leaves off so you make sure you read the books in order starting with book one, Broken Crown.
Without giving too much away, this is probably my favorite book in the series. We see each of the main characters are their best and fullest potential as individuals and as partners in their dynamic. You see Mari (and her men) take charge and do what is necessary to protect their city and most importantly, their family. Because to them, family means EVERYTHING and they will do whatever is necessary to stay together. Whoever crosses them better watch their backs. Nothing is more appealing and attractive than seeing each one, defending and fighting for their city, their people, and especially each other. And Mari is one lucky lady!!
While I love reading Janie Crouch’s books, I have enjoyed his darker side of her in the Gilded Empire Series. I am so excited to read what she writes next. Mari’s sisters are going to have their hands full and I know their stories will need to be told, hopefully with lots of steam, spice, action, and adventure.
If you need a steamy action filled book(s) to get lost in, the Gilded Empire series is the one for you!! I could totally see this series as a Netflix series or movie. Going to have to do some research on who I need to pitch this idea to. Make sure you download and read this series today! I recommend to read them in your big comfy chair or out in the sun by the water to cool yourself off. Oh and pairs well with a glass of wine or cocktail of your choice. Happy Reading!

Vicious Throne Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
JAW ON THE FLOOR……I thought I was ready for the final book in the Guilded Empire Series but I wasn’t. I’ve fallen for all of these amazing characters but let me tell you NO ONE was safe in this book. Edge of my seat, biting all of my nails reading every word of this book. Mari, Grey, Dominic and Nate are a true force to be reckoned with but to realize who else was behind trying to tear them down left me in shock. All I can and will say is Cash is a very stupid man who is trying to tear down a very strong, smart, cunning, brilliant woman and her empire….like I said he’s stupid. The level that Grey, Dominic and Nate will go to not only to protect Mari but to trust each other shows you that family isn’t always blood, the best family sometimes is the one you choose. Now I will say there is a character in this book with an extremely familiar name, don’t know if that’s a nod towards another series or an Easter egg but it definitely had me intrigued. MJ Crouch is beyond amazing with this series and I’m truly excited to see what other dark why choose stories comes from her. I’m hoping for a couple of spin-offs from some characters from this series. But when I say this book had me in a chokehold till the very end I’m not kidding. There is soooo much I want to say but I will give too much away because I’m so thrilled and fired up about this book I truly don’t want to ruin it for anyone. Thank you MJ for this amazing world that I look forward to coming back to many many times!

Wow! What a great ending to the saga of Mari defending her city! Packed with betrayal, danger, action and romance, this story was a great wrap to Mari's defense of her throne.
Mari's rival continues to terrorize her city - attacking people, businesses and Mari and her family. She becomes more desperate to finally remove Cash from the city permanently. The deadly and slippery Cash is hard to pin down, yet his army continues to harm people near and dear to Mari. Her so-called allies are reluctant to act and in fact enter into a truce with Cash, rather than work together to defeat him. She can't count on any support from those she had come to trust and rely on. Help comes from unlikely sources and Mari is finally able to put a plan in place while navigating political intrigue as well as betrayals from those close to her.
Mari's ruthlessness when those close to her are in danger comes to the forefront and she is a force to be reckoned with! She will take no prisoners in her bid to take back her empire and restore peace in her city. Those who have underestimated her power and strength of will be sorely surprised at the lengths she will go to in order to defend what is hers.
Five stars for this emotional, action-packed finale.

This is the 4th book in the series and it seems each one is better than the last. Mari Marcosa runs her own empire with her 3 men; Grey, Nate, and Dominic by her side protecting and encouraging her no matter what.
Cash is Nate's brother and he's been Mari's nemesis for even longer than she knew. Every time she turns around he's making trouble in her city, the city she swore to protect, and has bent over backwards for. He's completely unstable and his attacks keep getting more and more aggressive and unhinged.
The citizens in her town are imporant to her but no one is more important than her family which includes the people she's made part of her family. It turns out someone she trusted almost more than anyone else, has been working with Cash all along; and Mari has to decide how to deal with a situation than is breaking her heart.
Mari is smart and even though she's been knocked down she always climbs back to the top, and becomes stronger than she was before. She finally manages to get the people she needs to work with her and they turn the tables on Cash.
Romance also blossoms for Shara and Aislynn, the 2 ladies who have been like sisters to her. It turns out the next story will be about Aislynn and I can't wait for it.

I have finally finished the Gilded Empire saga with reading Vicious Throne and I can now fully judge the books. The storyline of mafia queen Mari Marcosa was really interesting. I liked the intrigue and crime aspects of it. The reverse harem aspect isn't something that I really search out for in a book. It didn't bother me but it often got very repetitive regarding the devotion of Nate, Greyson and Dominic to Mari. The intimate scenes were a bit too much for me. Considering that her empire was burning down around her, would a true mafia queen really be getting horny all the time? My final thought is that four books was a bit to much for this storyline. A duet or trilogy would have covered everything and not been quite so repetitive. Am I glad that I read the Gilded Empire sage? Yes. Would I recommend it to other readers? Also yes, however go in with your eyes wide open. If graphic violence and intimacy isn't something that you're comfortable reading, then you may want to rethink starting this series.

I loved the ending. I loved what transpires between Mari and Greyson. I liked the Mari took charge of things and took care of someone that she felt she wronged. I won’t give any information about that. You just have to get the series, and read. I was shocked for sure. More importantly it sounds like there’s going to be something coming about that person. I’m thrilled beyond words.
I loved what she gave Nate and Dominic.

Brilliant ending to this foursome of books. This series was the best, so good I hope there is more to come.
This was the ending where Mari and her guys face off against Cash along with so much else happening along the way.
Nate was back in the fold. Ex Mercenary and softie at heart. Dominic her ex step brother and one who carries a grudge but forgives when it counts. And Greyson her always present bodyguard and now husband. These men adore Mari and it shows.
So much action, drama, danger and intense moments in this conclusion but a very fitting ending that's so well done. The romance and steam really make up the story but doesn't overshadow the plot.
Amazing writing and brilliant plot these four books make up a fantastic series and I can't rave highly enough about them. So good!!!

May 27, 2024This is the last story in the Gilded Empire and it does not disappoint. What can I say about the twists and turns, they will have you crazy wondering what will happen on the next page. One surprise after another that you will not see coming. All your questions will be answered. Read this adventure of Mari, Greyson, Dominic and Nate and I'm sure you will love it as much as I did. All the people they had to protect, all the enemies they had to uncover along with all the other problems that seemed to slip in will result in amazing adventure. All the characters in this series are going to pull at your heartstrings. MJ Crouch has a way with words that keep you interested from the beginning to the very end. This is a definite re-read! Wow what a teaser you left us with!

Holy smokes! The fouth and final book of the series is here. These books must be read in order. It is the exciting ending to a series that pulled me into it's world, in book one and would not let me go. It is brutally frustrating as now the series is complete with its beautiful big red bow. I am so sad the ride is over. This series has literally everything one could imagine in it, along with a few twists, turns, the ups and the downs - the icing on the magnificent cake is perfection. If you have ever read this author's work, you know you are in for a treat. If you have not, there is no better place to start then with this series. Only warning - be mindful of your triggers if you are a sensitive reader, otherwise, enjoy this amazing ride. A true master of her craft. I always look forward to more. Enjoy!

Oh, what a ride this series has been! I have loved it! The previous three books ended in cliffhangers and for the most part everything is answered in this book. There were a few curve balls that I never expected. I will say that two of those have opened up the possibility of two more books. I have my fingers crossed that happens. While I don't see them as following the core Marcosa family of Mari, Grey, Domenic and Nate, as much as some of the supporting characters. I'd read them in a heartbeat, as I also liked those characters. This series was awesome, brutal at times, and emotional. Ms. Crouch has outdone herself with this series!

Crouch delivers the angst and does not disappoint with her first dive into mafia romance and polyamory! I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a huge fan of cliffhangers, but if the characters draw me in enough I'm willing to pull out my patience once in awhile and these characters definitely held my attention. This series was powerful and dramatic as danger and secrets lurked around every corner. Each book delivered on drama, angst and sexy allegiance. I loved the characters, the plot had lots of twists and turns and this final one really revealed some unexpected secrets that no one was expecting. I wanted a tad more sewing up of a few tidbits, but overall a very solid series with so much to enjoy. Highly recommend!

Simply wonderful read, well written characters and a wonderful scenario
I have to say that this is a simply wonderful read and I guarantee that you will be blown away by this well written story. The characters Mari and her men are desperately trying to rid themselves of Cash.
However, Cash seem so attuned to all of their plans at ridding themselves of him and Cash has managed to pin them down at every single turn and they have been completely cancelled out.
They have now been able to find a mole as such, one of their own in his pocket and now they are finally able to seek their own revenge, turning the tables on this despicable individual.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

Stunning Conclusion!!
Mari and her three men are preparing for all out war. Their enemy is unhinged and has no rules against women and children. This must end.
The relationship is unlike most you will find in other stories. The depth, loyalty and complexity alone makes this well worth the read. Add in the politics, alliances and family connections with perhaps a smattering of federal agencies and you almost have all the intricacies involved.
Fortitude and strength will be required from all to survive. Absolutely riveting from beginning to end - and I mean from book #1 to the final page of book #4. Brilliant.

You rock, and that’s for both the author and Mari.
You just can’t help liking Mari and her trio, they might be tuff Mafioso, but that soft touch for their people just gives them the edge against their cohorts. And they certainly showed the other family heads, her grandfather and most of all Cash that she’s not a lady to be messed with.
I also loved that you get a glimpse of how more is going to come in this mafia/cartel themed reads.
Mafia might not be my usual read however, this has been a cracking quartet of reads, and I am so, so looking forward to Aislynn’s story

I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Vicious Throne . This is the fourth story in the series . It's intense and intriguing and smoking hot . I really enjoyed this story Mari Marcosa leads the Marcosa crime family. Mari must struggle through betrayal she never saw coming . Thank goodness she has her three men by her side Grayson , Dominic and Nate . They would die for Mari . As they head into battle against Cash and the Aces it may come to that . This story is action packed and definitely on the darker side but absolutely Outstanding . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Vicious Throne is the final instalment of the Gilded Empire series from MJ Crouch. Talk about saving the best till last! This final book has everything the reader will need, with plenty of action, suspense, danger, brutality, and passion. New alliances are formed and some of the betrayers are eventually vanquished. The secondary and supporting characters also come into their own to bring their stories to an end, and may even need books of their own. Mari and her men take love and passion to a whole new level and bring this whole amazing series to a very fitting end. Highly recommend this book and series.

This is book 4 in the Gilded Empire series and if you think the first three books were good, just wait until you read this one. We are back with Mari, Greyson, Dominic and Nate. There are some new players and things are heating up in Seattle and not just in the bedroom!
This book is the conclusion to Mari’s story. The writing is BRILLIANT! The suspenseful build up to fantastically written plot TWISTS were breathtaking. I literally couldn’t tear my eyes from the pages until the end. Then I was sad it was over…but it’s not because someone else in the family gets their story told next! BRAVO! YOU NAILED IT!
